They say The Colony Carnivale appears without warning—rolling into forgotten towns under blood-red skies, offering laughter, lights, and salvation for the bored and broken. But beneath the painted tents, hides a different sin, each act a different obsession. Lust. Power. Revenge. Fear. The Carnivale feeds on it all—and so do the souls trapped inside.. The games are rigged, the prizes are cursed, and the performers aren’t quite human. So buy your ticket, brave the insanity, and pray the lights go out after you do. Because once you enter, the show owns you. Welcome to The Colony Carnivale—where the fun never dies, it just screams louder.
In the shadowy fringes, where twilight devours daylight and desires turn deadly, Judy and Gid prowl for willing souls. Raised as twisted twins by a man who broke them beyond repair, they spend the day luring thrill-seekers, dosing them with hallucinogens and dragging them into a nightmarish spectacle of sex, torture, and slaughter.
But as The Colony's main event, Delirium, unfolds in a frenzy of blood play, crucifixion, and cannibalistic ecstasy, a spectral figure haunts the edges. An unknown clown with a savage smile who vanishes like smoke while leaving chaos in her wake. Is she a ghost, a curse, or something far more carnal?
This erotic horror novella will plunge you into the abyss of human depravity. Buckle up for a deranged ride of masked mayhem, drug-fueled depravity, and forbidden pleasures that might just Coax you to The Colony's eternal embrace. Perfect for fans of extreme horror who crave the horrific intertwined with the erotic.
OMG!! I absolutely loved this story. This was a dark and twisted ride. Judy and Gid are the team from hell who are here to tempt you to enter the Carnival from hell. The descriptions in this book where so good you felt like you are in this scary Carnival yourself and seeing how twisted and deranged both Judy and Gid were written in such a way that their thoughts and actions seem twisted and unhinged throughout the story.
Well, well, well. Apparently, my first visit to the Colony Carnivale wasn't disturbing enough because here I am, willingly buying another ticket to this absolute shitshow! LOL!! Coax takes us even deeper into the depravity, and S.B. Rogue clearly understood the assignment. Blood, madness, questionable desires, and enough red flags to decorate the entire big top!
Let's talk about Judy and Gid. SWEET BABY HEKATE! These two are a special kind of fucked up! Their twisted history and absolutely horrifying idea of entertainment make them fascinating characters in the most disturbing way possible. They're the kind of people you desperately want to stay away from, but as a horror reader, you can't help watching the madness unfold.
And then there's Delirium. Because apparently a regular carnival attraction just isn't going to cut it around here! Between the hallucinogens, violence, torture, and general debauchery, this particular attraction makes it abundantly clear that the Colony Carnivale has absolutely ZERO interest in providing a family-friendly experience.
One thing I enjoy about this series is getting to explore different corners of the same wonderfully disturbing world through different authors. Coax embraces its erotic horror and splatterpunk elements, and the mysterious clown lurking in the background adds another unsettling layer. Seriously, what the hell is going on with her?!
Coax is another delightfully depraved trip into the Colony Carnivale. It's gruesome, twisted, sexually explicit, and absolutely NOT for the faint of heart. Check those triggers, folks! As for me, apparently I'm perfectly happy continuing to explore this carnival of nightmares. Somebody really should question my recreational choices.
Thanks to SB Rogue for gifting me an eARC of Coax. I am leaving this review voluntarily. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Did I question myself through this whole book? Yes! Did I throw my morals out the window? Also yes. Did I enjoy every depraved second of it? Heck yes. This one is dark, depraved and very spicy. Anything goes and that’s exactly what happened. I need to know what happens next for these characters.
📖 Coax Colony Carnival — Book 2 ✍️ S.B. Rogue 💀 Jess’s Skeleton Rating: 💀💀💀💀 — Another dark and twisted trip into the Colony Carnival. 🤡🎪
⚠️ PLEASE READ ALL TRIGGER WARNINGS! Because when it comes to the Colony Carnival... nothing is off limits. 👀
💭 My Thoughts Book 2 and we're heading even deeper into the Carnival. 🎪🖤
Judy and Gid are one hell of a team, responsible for tempting the souls who dare to venture inside the carnival... And the descriptions throughout this book?! So good. You can mentally picture these characters and the twisted world surrounding them as you're reading. It makes the whole Carnival feel that little bit more real — and unsettling. 🤡
But can we talk about... THAT GIRL CLOWN?! 🤡👀 WHO IS SHE?! WHAT'S HER STORY?! DOES SHE WANT JUDY?!
Because excuse me... you cannot introduce her and expect me to just move on. 😂 I'm officially intrigued, and I cannot wait to come across her story somewhere within this massive shared world.
Two books down...
🎪 2 DOWN, 29 TO GO! 💀 And I'm already realising that every new story is going to leave me with even more questions about the Colony Carnival. Once you step inside... the show owns you. 🤡🎪 Thank you S.B. Rogue for allowing me to experience your piece of this twisted world. 🖤 #Coax #SBRogue #ColonyCarnival #ARCReview #JesssSkeletonRating
This is the 2nd novella from The Colony Carnivale. These novellas are interconnected standalones. This novella comes out 10/2 and its very dark so please check your trigger warnings. This leans more towards splatter punk for me and that genre is always tough for me to star rate due to all the range of emotions I get while reading it. The first half of this book is very descriptive. Its a slow start mainly because its filled with so many details but that's also needed in the story. Its interesting to see the day in the life of the main characters who are two brothers and are carnies and how they interact with other carnies as well as how they set up their "victims" I mean people who pay to go to the Carnivale for fun and entertainment. The second half was pure action. Thats the half that's more splatter punk in my opinion. Lots for violence, laced drinks and sex. It ends on a cliff hanger and Ill definitely be reading book 2 when its released in 2027.
I was not ready for the stepbrothers, but I happily climbed on their party bus of debauchery and rode it all the way to the fairgrounds.
Jude (Judy) and Gideon (Gid) play their roles as chauffeurs to the carnival is the damned. Whether through their literal vehicle or the way they get the spectators to play along with their dares and forfeit any chance of redemption or a life.
The bond between the brothers is genuine. They know each other so well and have the ability to dial up the demonic fun. Each custom cocktail offered by them to the volunteers was expertly chosen to add to their performance. The boys are open and fluid and this helps them get the most out of their demonic games and willing participants.. They command the stage. I can't wait for the next book. I'm interested to see how the phantom clown plays into this game.
Tropes and triggers: addiction, bdsm, bet/dare, captor/captive, demonic creatures, dual pov
The last one left me confused and this one left me staring at the wall. I had to collect my thoughts in order to write this review. That was just...something 😅
I think this deserves 4⭐️ review because I don't really come across many dark books that make me cringe. The amount of gore and horror spice that took place had me questioning what I thought the main characters were. 🤡 🚎🎪
Gid and Judy are the ones that drive the bus. Collecting the depraved souls and transporting them to the carnivale. But that's not all... they tempt and persuade and deceive to get you right where they want you. And what a show it is. 🫣🔪🩸
The further I get into this series, the more I find myself asking more questions about these characters. And dude, the clown girl??? What happened??? What does she want with them???
Gore, torture, drugs, depravity, spice, Delirium?! This book was made for the fucked-up little corner of my brain that lives for this shit.
This time we’re following Judy and Gid, one seriously fucked-up duo responsible for tempting the souls who wander into the Carnivale. And once you’re inside? ANYTHING fucking goes.
The spice was SPICINGGGG. 🌶️ The gore was GORING. 🩸 My morals? Fucking GONE.
AND THEN THIS FUCKING GIRL CLOWN SHOWS UP?! 🤡
MA’AM??? WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU AND WHY HAVE YOU IMMEDIATELY BECOME MY PROBLEM?!
I need the clown lore. I need the secrets. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON.
Coax is book 2 in the Colony Carnivale series. These stories are dark and come with a lot of trigger warnings. In Coax you get cannibalism, murder, poisoning, corruption and more. It was also very spicy. We follow Judy and Gig in the story. They made a great pair! They are dark and push so many boundaries, SB did an amazing job with giving us so much description. I will be reviewing all novellas in the series and they can be found on my profile!
This one is definitely on the dark side. I do like Judy and Gid. But to be honest I think I might have enjoyed it a little more if it had been more about Judy, Gid and the clown girl. Although we do get a large insight into what these two do at the carnival.
It does come with a lot of triggers so be warned going in. I would say it leans more on the side of horror erotica than erotic horror.
Ohhhmygoodness this was a crazy book! Definitely one of those books that makes you question yourself for being so into it 🫣 there were a few scenes that had me gasping and clenching my whole body. So much suspense, perfect gore, and super naughty! But i need to know about this mysterious clown girl!
Welcome to The Colony Carnivale — where the fun never dies, it just screams louder. And boy do Gid and Judy make the screams come loudly. Depravity knows no bounds for their show! After all the teasing with the killer clown, I’m super excited to see that story gets to live on.
What a wild ride with this one. Make sure you read the trigger warnings because this is a wild world we are in! Nothing is off limits at the colony carnival!
What in the holy heck did I just read! Gore, cannibalism, drugs and tons of s*x of all kinds. Brothers Judy & Gid are in charge of all the games and they do not disappoint, putting on one hell of a bloody show. Delirium abounds in the Colony Carnivale. Can you survive it?
This was a perfect addition to the carnival shared world I loved it! And I seriously am so excited for the next book this series is definitely not disappointing!
This short splatter punk horror er0t!c story had everything and more! I don’t want to spoil the fun but seriously its so good! 👀

🖤𝓺𝓾𝓸𝓽𝓮𝓼🖤 “I prefer to work in twilight. The closer to darkness, the better. Sunlight is for honest people and shame. And I want neither.” “Tonight, every dream and every nightmare comes true, if you pay the price.” “Anyone can have the last wild ride of their life if they play their cards right.”
🖤 𝓻𝓮𝓿𝓲𝓮𝔀🖤 COAX: The Colony Carnivale takes everything you think you know about creepy carnivals and throws it straight into the deep end. Judy and Gid are the kind of brothers who make “family trauma” feel like a massive understatement, and watching the two of them manipulate, lure, and torment their victims creates an incredibly unsettling atmosphere. The combination of psychological horror, erotic darkness, drugs, twisted desire, and increasingly brutal violence makes this feel like a fever dream you absolutely should not want to wake up from. And just when you think you’ve figured out the rules of the Carnivale, the mysterious clown woman adds another layer of intrigue that kept me questioning what was real and what was part of the nightmare.
*spoilers* Brothers, Judy and Gid, were raised in a world of abuse and depravity, morphing them into something far more dangerous than ordinary carnival performers. Now, they use manipulation, drugs, seduction, and violence to lure unsuspecting victims into their twisted playground. Not lure… COAX. What begins as a night of forbidden thrills quickly descends into a nightmare of sex, psychological torment, bloodshed, and grotesque violence.
But when a mysterious clown woman begins appearing throughout the Carnivale, nothing is quite as it seems. And soon reality becomes increasingly distorted, as the predators may soon discover they’re not the only ones hunting in the shadows. Someone else has made their presence known.
🖤𝓸𝓿𝓮𝓻𝓪𝓵𝓵🖤 What really worked for me was how unapologetically dark, depraved, and over-the-top this story is that it doesn’t shy away from making its characters uncomfortable, the situations disturbing, or its gore downright nasty. Rogue writes the carnival as if it almost feels like a character on its own, swallowing everyone who enters and turning their curiosity into something much more sinister. If you’re someone who enjoys extreme horror with a little psychological chaos, twisted characters, with a splash of erotic horror, disturbing carnival imagery, and plenty of gore, I’d absolutely recommend adding COAX to your TBR.

The Colony Carnivale is the kind of horror story that feels like stepping through a set of carnival curtains and immediately realizing you’ve made a terrible mistake—but you’re far too curious to turn around.
From the opening pages, the atmosphere is drenched in darkness, depravity, and unease. The Carnivale itself is easily the star of the show: mysterious, grotesque, and seemingly alive. Beneath the lights, painted tents, and promises of excitement lurks something profoundly sinister, where every attraction seems designed to exploit the darkest corners of human desire.
Judy and Gid make for particularly disturbing figures. Their twisted upbringing and predatory role within the Carnivale add another layer of psychological horror, while their victims are drawn deeper into an increasingly nightmarish world. The story doesn't shy away from extreme subject matter, combining erotic horror, violence, drug-fueled hallucinations, and grotesque imagery into one relentlessly unsettling experience.
And then there's the mysterious clown.
Her appearances add an intriguing supernatural thread to the story. She feels almost like an urban legend unfolding in real time—appearing amid the chaos, leaving destruction behind, and disappearing before anyone can understand exactly what she is. Ghost, curse, monster, or something else entirely? That uncertainty keeps the mystery alive.
What makes The Colony Carnivale stand out is the way it embraces its excess. This isn't a subtle haunted-carnival story. It's lurid, provocative, disturbing, and deliberately uncomfortable. Readers who enjoy extreme horror with erotic and grotesque elements will find plenty here to sink their teeth into.
The overall experience feels like a fever dream painted in blood-red lights: chaotic, decadent, and impossible to look away from.
If you're looking for horror that pushes into the darkest and strangest corners of the genre, The Colony Carnivale delivers a seriously twisted night at the carnival. Just remember—once you buy the ticket, getting out may not be part of the deal.
This is the second book of this series and I love that we’re getting reoccurring characters like Dario. This story focuses on Judy and Gid and wanting to know their backstory as well as a side plot with a killer clown lady. There’s so many mysteries that I’m looking forward to hopefully solving in the second book of another series featuring these characters. The writing was incredible and I’m really loving how dark this series is. I also really enjoyed the writing style as well. I think this author knows how to create really engaging character characters that leave you wanting more.

O-M-G...I honestly am in SHOCK...this book was an outrageously wild ride!!
🪄🎩🖤🎡🖤🎩🪄
Gid and Judy are absolute pros at torture...and their games are definitely NOT for the faint of heart...laden with charm and masters at flirting, this sneaky and malicious duo of demonic showmen makes sure to keep the carnival's visitors entertained with their dark magic while offering up a colorful array of powders, potions, and elixirs concocted and supplied by The Colony Carnivale's own apothecary, Tik...carrying a promise of effects unlike any other as Gid and Judy are also a pair unlike any other...
...but...their performance comes at a deadly price...seeking out their victims for Daddy D's (Dario) Delirium show is only part of their malevolent display of torture and evil that ends in sheer horror...
I will admit I had to step back from this book for a few days while reading, it truly is that intense and phenomenal...Gid and Judy's antics were extremely effective, but once I recovered and jumped back in, I truly could NOT put it down!!
Absolutely ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!! Epic, thrilling, and gruesome in the most suspensefully tasteful way; this book will definitely keep you up at night and turning the page!! Be sure to check out "Coax" by SB Rogue, Book 2 in The Colony Carnivale Series...coming soon!!
And ending on an incredible cliffhanger, as a bonus, Gid and Judy will be making a return in 2027 in Book 2 of SB Rogue's SECT Series ...don't miss it!!
Coax was definitely an experience. This was basically gore, cannibalism, drugs/elixirs, sex and two absolutely unhinged brothers thrown into one very fucked-up carnival.
Judy and Gid are honestly something else. They’re creepy as hell, but at the same time there’s something weirdly magnetic about them. The confidence, the way they play with their “guests” and the way they turn everything into a show… disturbing, but I couldn’t look away.
And the Delirium scene? Yeah… that was A LOT.
Blood, bodies, fluids, depravity… it really went all the way. Some of the details had me seriously grossed out, but at the same time I was sitting there thinking how the hell did someone even come up with this?!
There’s also this creepy clown lurking around in the background, which honestly added another layer of WTF to the whole thing. I definitely wanted to know more about that.
I will say the beginning was a little slow for me and I lost interest a couple of times. But once things really started picking up, I was much more into it. The second half definitely gave me more of what I came for.
Was it dark? Absolutely. Twisted? 100%. Disgusting? Sometimes VERY much so.
But somehow I still ended up enjoying the fucked-up mess that was Coax. It’s short, intense, bloody and definitely not something I’d recommend to just anyone.
Just… maybe don’t eat anything before reading this one. 😂
Coax is Book 2 of the Colony Carnivale that introduces the reader to Jude and Gideon. This dynamic pair are the ones that bring in the flock of visitors. The sheep to the slaughter if you will. The pair guide and prowl the sidelines seducing and corrupting and coercing as they go to thrill seekers and desperate visitors alike. While the story is a twisted erotic horror novella there is so much depth to the two that dwells deeper then the peacock feathers and leather. Jude is transfixed on flashes of an eerie homicidal female clown that haunts the outskirts and shadows of the Carnivale and is determined to find her. Meanwhile, the pair are also deeply tied and protective over Calvera, the Marrow Maker of the circus. For me this was the most fascinating portion of the novella of Coax. Coax isn't just a horror story of manipulation, torture, death, and cannibalism but something so much more.
There is heart. The forged bond that tie the pair together in a brotherhood of support and protection to the adoration and defensive love they have for Calvera. Yes Coax is violent and cruel but it also is heartbreaking and beautiful. The story of the pair intrigued me and I loved seeing how multi-faceted they were. I am interested to see where their story goes when they finally meet their clown. I urge you to not stop here... stay in the circus a bit longer... but until next time, happy reading!
Well, it’s my own fault really 😂 I slipped straight into this read and instantly loved the vibes.
Following Gid and Judy as they greet people, load them into their Mastodon and take them to the Carnivale was such a fun way to start. I loved their little walk around, chatting with the other members of the Carnivale and rousing up the ticket holders. I was honestly just completely vibing with it. I love both Gid and Judy, and the little mentions of the killer clown had me intrigued…
Then that scene happened.
My eyes shot open because I’d almost forgotten what kind of book I was reading 😂 Well… what a shock. The blunt knife moment actually made me put my Kindle down for a second, only to pick it back up and reread it because surely I hadn’t just read what I thought I’d read?! Nope. I absolutely did.
And what followed… well, that may have been a little too much for me. I know. Me. Shocked. Unfortunately, it was my limit. It was so well written, so colourful, so intense and completely unapologetic but that was where I had to tap out a little. I guess that’s what you get when you willingly dive headfirst into splatterpunk!
And yet, somehow, despite the absolute show Gid and Judy put on, I still love them. I genuinely want to know more about them and explore their story. Maybe just… without quite so much drug-fuelled, gore-filled sex fest.
But I suppose if you want to love Gid and Judy, you have to take the good with the very, very bad! 🎪🩸
😂🖤🎪 Coax was absolutely unhinged, depraved, disgusting and I freaking LOVED IT.
Judy and Gid… what in the twisted hell?! Their history is horrifying and their version of “entertainment” is completely deranged. These are absolutely people I would run from in real life, but apparently book-me is standing there with popcorn going okay but what are they going to do next?! 😂
And DELIRIUM?! Excuse me?! Hallucinogens, torture, blood, sex, violence, cannibalistic insanity… SB Rogue really said we’re not gently dipping our toes into the Colony Carnivale, we’re being grabbed by the ankles and dragged straight into the nightmare. 😂🔥
Then there is that mysterious freaking clown lurking around causing chaos and leaving me with approximately 700 QUESTIONS. WHO IS SHE?! WHAT IS SHE?! WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING?! I NEED ANSWERS.
I seriously love getting to explore another completely messed-up corner of the Colony Carnivale. Every story adds another layer to this horrific, sexy, fucked-up world and somehow I just keep wanting MORE.
Coax is erotic horror/splatterpunk at its most gloriously depraved. Twisted, filthy, gruesome, disturbing and absolutely not for the faint-hearted. CHECK. YOUR. TRIGGERS. Seriously. 😂
Meanwhile I’ll apparently be buying another ticket to this carnival from hell because clearly I have learnt absolutely nothing. 🎪🤡🩸
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Coax: The Colony Carnivale by SB Rogue
Okay, book two in The Colony Carnivale.
I’m still happily riding this completely unhinged carnival ride.
This one gave me gore, depravity, spice, drugs, torture, a mysterious clown, and Delirium; a normal trip to the carnival just isn’t enough anymore.
Judy and Gid are seriously messed up, and I mean that in the best possible way for this kind of book. The further I got into their story, the more I was sitting there wondering what could possibly happen next. And trust me, there were a few moments where even I was like... well, okay then. But, ya know nothing stops me.
The spice was SPICING 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️, the horror was brutal, and the whole Delirium experience was pure chaotic fun. Then we have this mysterious clown popping up and adding another layer of who are you and what exactly are you doing here?! 🤡
I had a freaking blast with this one. It’s filthy, bloody, weird, completely depraved, and exactly the kind of insanity I signed up for when I bought my ticket to The Colony Carnivale.
Definitely check your triggers because this one does not play nice.
