The Lemon House Murders by Tucker May is a murder mystery novel by the author. I love the descriptions in this book, that is the first thing as a reader that really grabs your attention. The descriptions of Lemon House, the descriptions of the characters, these things really stand out to me. Our FMC is named Francis who is 19 years old and headed to Lemon House for rehabilitation. He is dropped off by her parents at Lemon House and he starts to notice little things about Lemon House as she is there. Francis is an addict and has to be at Lemon House for 9 months to rehabilitate and get better from the addiction. He meets a fellow boy named Gobs in the rehab center and they start to talk. I really enjoyed the story itself as we get to hear about all the inhabitants at Lemon House and how they interact with the doctors, aides, and even Francis. I think that this author did an incredible job with writing this story, it has emotional aspects like Francis's relationship with his parents, and also mystery aspects like when people start showing up murdered. I loved the writing in this book and it as fast paced for a murder mystery which I loved as a reader!
📆 single timeline. 👀 single POV 🐢 -🐇 fast-paced 💬 "tap dancing was not an appropriate new hobby to adopt in the top floor of a shared living space."
This is one of those rare books that offers so much more than you'd expect at a first glance. Whilst it's largely a crime 'whodunnit', it's also a glimpse into addiction. What causes it, what.sustains it and how society views it and those who suffer from it.
I'm a huge fan of crime fiction/mystery. I also love anything to do with mental health issues including addiction. So it will come as no surprise that I inhaled this book. I was utterly fascinated by every single character and feel that I really got to know them. I was struck by how young most of them were, and the diverse backgrounds they came from. It really brought home that anyone can become an addict.
May is a new to me author, but I'll definitely be reading more of his books in the future.
Francis has been sent to the lemon House, which is a rehab place for people people with addictions. He has sent there even though he doesn’t have any addictions, but he has one more secret. When some of the residents come up dead Francis and his friend decide to find out whether it is behind it. There are many twist in terms in the plot and the ending as a surprise. I found the characters very good and the writing excellent. I like the flow of the book and it really held my attention. I recommend this book for all mystery readers.
Great News! The Lemon House Murders, my second mystery novel, has an official release date! It will be available to the whole wide world starting April 17, 2026! Mark your calendars.
