Pieces of Me is full of small town charm, a cast of likable characters, and a bit of suspense to keep you on your toes. This story follows Sheriff West and bakery owner, Jade.

What I liked: The town was adorable, and had so many cute shops and a sense of community. West’s family was welcoming and kind, and I loved the snippets we got of their lives. The suspense aspect was present throughout, and directly tied into what was happening with both West’s case and Jade’s history.

What I struggled with: Sometimes I became more invested in the side characters, because there was content involving them that you would expect to be in their own story. Some of the dialogue also felt unnatural, and as a result I didn’t feel as connected. However one of my bigger issues was that West’s POV seemed to overly sexualize Jade, and he almost always ended up aroused in his chapters. The chemistry felt very one sided for the majority of the book, where she seemed reluctant to engage in that way- despite his advances. This seemed inconsistent with the rest of the book, as the spice content was minimal/ fade to black.

Overall, I enjoyed the read and am sure that people will like it! There were just those few things that didn’t work for me. Pieces of Me releases on April 21, 2026. Thank you Haley Harris and Love Notes PR for gifting me with an eARC, all thoughts expressed are my own.

Wow. What an astonishing debut novel. The first chapter is gut-wrenching and shocking, and completely hooked me. I absolutely loooved the MMC 😍 talk about a man down bad. If you’re looking for a romance with high stakes and some seriously funny, and intriguing side characters, I highly recommend! I can’t wait to read what comes next in the Lavender Falls series.

Pieces of Me was such a captivating mix of romance and suspense. The relationship between West and Jade felt refreshingly sweet, no unnecessary misunderstandings, no second-guessing, just two people taking things slow with so much respect and understanding for each other. West was somehow both the most caring and the hottest male lead, while Jade’s bravery and kindness made her an equally compelling character. Together, they carried the story beautifully.

The suspense element kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time, and the plot twist at the end completely caught me off guard.

This book struck the perfect balance between emotional depth and thrilling tension, making it a standout read. I think there are some secrets still left to be revealed so i'm looking forward to read more from this world! I’m so grateful to the author for the ARC, it was a joy to experience this story early.

ARC REVIEW ✨🫶🏻

Wowwweee I genuinely enjoyed this book so much!

This book follows Jade, a sweet girl who co runs a bakery with her best friend! In pops West, the towns sherif! AND a gentleman he is. West starts to take jade on dates and wants to get to know her, but Jade is a little closed off due to her past. A past that comes crashing down on her.

Also can we talk about Hayes and Sarah? LIKE tell me they’re getting a book because hello? IVE NEVER needed to read about side characters as much as I do with these two! (That’s how perfectly written in they are)

ARC read Pieces of me from Haley Harris
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
First of all: thanks to Haley Harris and LovenotesPR to read this book as an ARC :))

I really really enjoyed this book! It’s a romance with a murder/mystery plot and those are 2 of my faves genres combined so I knew this would be a hit.

The romance felt very natural. We follow Jade, a bakery owner (with her best friend), with a hidden past. And West the town’s head police officer. Jade carries a secret that slowly unfolds, which adds depth to her character and keeps things interesting. I especially loved how strong and charismatic she is, despite everything she’s been through. :))

One of the strongest aspect of the book is the balance between the romance and the mystery. Both storylines run alongside each other throughout the entire book, which kept me engaged the whole time.

I also really enjoyed the side characters. Many of them have their own stories, and while some only get a bit of background, others have some bigger moments to shine. That said, it did leave me wanting more with these stories. I was really curious about where their stories go next and what their lives look like.

The only reason this wasn’t a full 5 stars for me is the ending of the mystery plot. After such a strong build-up, it felt a bit rushed and wrapped up to quickly. I would have love a bit more detail and closure.
Also, there were a few moment, mostly with West, where the dialogue felt a little immature, which took me out of the story. But that just might be a personal preference.

Overall, a really enjoyable read with great characters and a great mix of romance and mystery!!!

'Pieces of Me' by Haley Harris is a small town romance. It revolves around Jade and west in Lavender Falls. It has heavy theme and there are certain parts where one can get emotional. The character of Jade is well written and it truly broke my heart to read her backstory and what she went through. Her character was strong, brave and Fierce and she survived a lot of trauma.

The character of west as a protective Male lead was really good and I did enjoy the chemistry between Jade and west a lot. There was slow burn romance and I did want to read their scenes more and more.

The narrative pace of the story was really good and I loved how West had such a big family. Sarah, Wren , Harper the whole Girl gang was amazing and they were always there for Jade. Mrs Ira was one of my Favorite side characters really loved her nosy behavior 😂

I am really excited to read the story of all brothers. I thoroughly enjoyed west's story and now I am eager to read Cade, colter and Hayes story.

Overall this story was heavy, emotional and also had fun elements of small town romance😊

Enjoyed this book a lot!!

Thank you Haley Harris and LoveNotes PR for the ARC, these are all my own honest thoughts and feelings!

So they always say to never judge a book by its cover, and I don't; this seemed like a cute romance and purples my favourite colour so it caught my eye immediately. I go into stories blind and WOW, I'm so happy I did! My jaw dropped in the prologue and I'm pretty sure it didn't close until the end. The suspense is next level, I audibly gasped at several parts and just when I thought I had the story figured out.. surprise. I did not. West and Jade were so in tune with each other and Sheriff Cowboy was the perfect match for her.

The fact that this is Haley's DEBUT novel is insane to me. I loved it and will be (not so) patiently waiting to return to Lavender Falls. I don't even know whose story I want next, there's SO many options and I'm excited for them all!

Well, What a debut novel for Haley Harris. This is SO GOOD!! I was captured with the prologue, I knew I had to keep reading. I needed more, cause HOLY COW.

This follows FMC Jade who 10 years ago lost her entire family, she was the only one to survive a tragedy(I'll leave that part for you to read and find out) To get away and hopefully be hidden from danger, she moves far away to start a new life for herself. She and her best friend she met in college open a bakery together in the small town of Lavendar Falls.

Enter our hard loving, adorably sweet, "cowboy sheriff" MMC, West. He falls hard the first time he meets Jade and visits her bakery every morning just to see her. He even visits her bakery and buys coffee every day which we find out he hates, but he does it to see her.

The way this book, combines West's cases w/ Jades past is done so well. And along the way, you'll be on the edge of your seat wonder what is going to happen to who next. There were so many close relationships, found family, that I just KNEW something horrible was going to happen to someone. Again, I'll leave it for you to read to find out. This story keeps you on your toes suspecting different people and waiting for another shoe to drop.

Haley did a wonderful job at building up the plot, giving such a good story of friendships, romance, family along with way.
While there was so much drama unfolding in the small town, life moves on, the town moves forward, all while learning about each other, the cases and the past.

She definitely also will leave you to wonder whose relationship book will be about. I know I'll be in it FOR SURE!!!

The side characters are so good too, so much fun and they bring some banter and laughter into the story. They help add to the plot and leave you wondering where their stories will lead in books to come.

If you love small town romance, suspense, tenderness, tension, healing, slow burn/insta-love, found family and close friendships w/out drama then this book is for you. The spice is minimal, but what is there is done very well. I'm ok with minimal spice. It's a nice refresher.

I need book 2 immediately and I need it to be Sarah and Hayes story. However, right at the end she introduces a new side character, Mabel, and it makes me wonder if that is where book 2 will go. I'll be waiting ...(not so patiently) hahahaha.

Thank you Haley and Love Notes PR for giving this ARC to me. It was a privilege to read it!!!

Pieces Of Me 🪻
Firstly,I want to thank LoveNotes PR & Haley Harris for trusting me with this ARC
💜
After losing everyone, she started new. Now,in the town of Lavender Hills ,she hopes that he will not find her again.
Weston Donovan, the beloved sheriff,is in love, and one day he has promised himself that he is going to marry her even if it is the last thing that he will ever do.

I cannot describe the emotional roller coaster that I was in the last 3 hours that I have been reading this book, yes I absolutely ate it up in one sitting.Just to picture it,I was just in 6% and I could feel my heart in my throat, and oh boy,I was just getting started.
We follow a wonderful heart wrenching story of a girl, that not only had to start new,but also to learn how to trust and believe in people again.I just cannot possibly understand how do you find the power to move on after that kind of a scenario happening, but Jade literally said watch. The emotional strength that this girl has is not only admirable but incredible to read.
So,as you understand when the one and only West Donovan happened in her life I was really happy and excited to see how her romance will go on.& I can say Harris did not disappoint me at all,we have deep love, yearning, passion and everything that you want to read about.
Our man West,is such a gentleman,on and off his romantic life. Not only I loved seeing him,in the romance parts but I loved reading about his action as a sheriff,(give me that action babe🤏🏻 ).
To continue, the small town dynamic was so strong, especially when the tension grew, you could see how different things are when danger appears in a small town compared to the big cities that most of us live.More,I want to point out, that apart from everything the writing was magnificent .
She has such a strong foundation for this book, meaning that her side characters were fully developed with romances, intrigues, moments on their own and they did not just existed like puppets in the story and you could literally picture Lavender Falls while reading.-when she said something was happening here, you could sense were you were immediately.-
Lastly, what personally WRECKED ME was the very, very last words of the epilogue.Like,to the point that I was sitting in my desk SOBBING 🥹
So,if you want a strong reading experience with a beautiful romance, add Pieces of Me in your TBR now🦋

I really, really liked this book. It’s a small town romance set in Lavender Falls, but it’s not just soft and cozy, there’s also this layer of suspense that keeps you on edge the whole time. From the prologue itself, I was completely pulled in, and after that I just couldn’t put it down.

The story follows Jade, who owns a bakery with her friend. She moved to this small town to escape her past, but it kind of follows her no matter how much she tries to move on. You can really feel how guarded she is, how hesitant she is to let people get close to her, until West Donovan and honestly after everything she’s been through it makes sense. Our girl has gone through way too much.💔

And then there’s West Donovan… the MMC. I loved him. Like actually loved him. He’s the town sheriff, and he fell for her the first time he saw her. The way he starts showing up to her bakery every single day just to get coffee only for us to find out later that he literally hates coffee…. I’m unwell😫. That’s the kind of quiet effort that gets me every time. He’s protective, patient, caring, respectful, and just an overall green flag.

The suspense element in the story was also done really well, which keeps you on the edge and also making you anxious and curious about what’s going to happen next.😮‍💨

The ending… yeah, I cried😭. It hit harder than I expected and just felt very emotional after everything that led up to it.

I also really enjoyed the side characters. They didn’t feel like fillers at all. And Sarah and Hayes?? Their banter and tension in this book, like HELLO?? I need their story next because there’s definitely something there and I’m already invested.

Also, the writing style deserves a mention because it’s so easy to get lost in. While reading, it genuinely felt like I was in Lavender Falls, the bakery, the town, everything just felt very vivid and real.

Overall, this was such an engaging read for me. It had the romance, the emotional depth, the suspense, and characters that actually make you feel something.

If you want to read cozy, small town romance with a suspense that keeps you on your toes then definitely add this book to your TBR. It’s coming out on April 21st, 2026.

Thank you to Love Notes PR and Haley Harris for this early copy to read and review❤️

I really enjoyed this book, some of the topics were a little different to what I normally read, and some fit right in my normal comfort zone.

The first chapter of this book really sets the scene, and as far as first chapters go, it's one of the most well done I've read, and really pulls you into the book & makes you want to keep reading.

I really enjoyed both MCs, both West and Jade were very likable (especially West 🥰), and i really loved their slow-burn romance, it felt very genuine and like they had a great connection.
I loved Jade's friendship with Sarah and Wren, loved West's siblings giving him grief for buying coffee for years despite hating coffee, just to have an excuse to see the pretty baker every day 🙂‍↕️and loved how much of a meddling old gossip Mrs. Ira is.

This book follows Jades journey in opening up to West, letting him in on her secrets and vulnerabilities, and learning to trust again after extreme trauma. I think the pacing of this journey was done well and realistically. When she finally lets down her walls and lets West see her 🥺!!

I'm normally pretty good with predicting where the end of a book will go, and while I did predict PART of it, there was definitely a big twist that had me on the edge of my seat, and had me reading until 2am to finish the book.

The pacing at the end of the book changes a lot, going from having fairly consistent length chapters that take 8-12 minutes to read, to the last roughly 10% of the book's chapters taking approx 3-5 minutes to read. I understand that in the story, a lot was happening and it was very stressful, and bigger chunks of time were passing, the pacing change did throw me off a bit, and left me feeling a bit like the last 10-15% of the book was rushed and not super fulfilling.

That, and seeing them make the same mistake TWICE regarding Jade's safety, was kind of infuriating!!!

Overall, i really enjoyed this book and am keen to see more of the side characters hopefully get their own books someday soon!

Thank you to the author and Love Notes PR for the ARC 💕

This book does not ease you in. It throws you straight into the deep end. If you are interested in this book, you probably already know the triggers. It opens dark and violent, which did not bother me at all. It sets the tone immediately. I loved the suspense from the start, that feeling of waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Right after that intense opening, we move into a small town, Lavender Falls, where the FMC owns a bakery and casually flirts with the town sheriff. I absolutely loved that transition. It was so well done and gave me exactly what I want from romantic suspense. I was on edge, yet somehow it felt incredibly cozy at the same time.

The MMC is completely gone for the shy FMC, and it is so satisfying to watch her slowly open up to him. The romance is a delicious slow burn. Honestly, I suffered alongside the MMC. How many times can they get interrupted before their first kiss? I was losing my mind.

I adored everything about this book. The FMC is cute, kind, and strong in a quiet way, and the MMC had me ready to propose. The town itself felt alive, and the knitting group completely stole my heart.

There is a lot going on in this story. Several heavier topics are explored alongside the main storyline, but they are handled with care and never feel overwhelming or unnecessary. Instead, they add depth and show the complexity of the characters and their situations.

That said, I did get a bit frustrated with the FMC taking so long to be honest with the MMC. It also bothered me that she kept putting herself in unsafe situations, walking and staying alone, while the MMC, who is both deeply invested in her and a sheriff, did not step up enough when it came to her safety. At the same time, this added to the tension. I found myself wanting to yell at the characters to act according to the situation, even if it pulled me out of the story slightly at times.

The ending felt a bit rushed. The chapters became a lot shorter, which I appreciated in the moment because I was desperate to know what would happen, but it also made the resolution feel too quick. I wanted more time with it.

Overall, I really loved this book and all of its characters. I am already looking forward to the next one.

Pieces of Me is a sweet romantic suspense with a lot to like, even if it didn’t fully land for me.

The story follows Jade, who is rebuilding her life in Lavender Falls while keeping a past trauma hidden. West, the local sheriff, has quietly had a thing for her for years, and what unfolds between them is a soft, slow-burn romance.

I really liked West, he’s protective, patient, very green flag energy. And I liked Jade too. Her hesitation to let someone in and the weight of her past felt believable and I was invested in watching her slowly open up. This is definitely a slow burn (and I mean slow), but it worked for the overall tone.

The vibe leans very Hallmark with romantic suspense. I actually enjoyed the suspense elements and thought they added a nice layer to the story.

At times, some of the conversations between characters felt a bit unnatural or stilted to me. It didn’t completely pull me out, but it was definitely something I noticed.

Where the story lost me a bit was the timing around revealing Jade’s past. Without spoiling anything, there were moments where it felt like information was being held back a little too long, even when Jade sharing it could have made a real difference in helping others. I understood her fear, but at a certain point it started to feel frustrating and took me out of the story. It also made it a little harder for me to stay fully connected to her at times. Knowing she had information that could have impacted what was happening, her silence felt slightly out of step with how her character was otherwise written.

Overall, this could have easily been a 4 star for me, but that one piece held it back a bit.

That said, this is Haley Harris’s debut novel and I do think it’s a strong showing. I’d definitely be interested to see what she writes next.

If you like sweet romances with suspense, low angst between the main characters and very low/closed-door spice, this is definitely worth checking out.

✨thank you to Haley Harris and Love Notes PR for this ARC and the opportunity to read and review

Solid 3.5 ⭐️

Honestly wow what a freaking whirlwind of a book, the amount of plot twists and jump scares had me on my toes. I definitely recommend reading this in a cozy blanket in your home and not in the middle of the night.

This book follows West, the town Sheriff and Jade, a bakery owner and is set in the small and fictional town of Lavender falls. (Yay Canadian representation hehe, the Rockies are truly a beautiful small town place)

My loves 🫶🏽: the characters! Every character was charming in their own way which sets up the series for future books. The small town was so charming too, I loved the layout and descriptions. I loved the suspense plot, definitely super dark so please read trigger warnings. It kept the book lively and was a fun additional layer to the small town romance trope.

My not so loves: the side characters were so lovely that they took a bit of focus away from the main characters. I found the side character story lines to be so descriptive to the point that it was lowkey their book too whereas I wish some of that info was in future books for their plot lines. I wish we got to see more of how Jade overcame her traumas, it would’ve been interesting to go a little deeper into how she coped with everything since she seemed to be pretty okay except for the nightmares. I also wish we got to see more of West in his chapters and not just him sexualizing Jade. I think it would’ve been nice to go deeper into his own past growing up in the small town, with his family, his own backstory, and just overall more on the emotional weight for their relationship. I think overall I wanted to have more internal emotional depth to both of them. We got a lot of the present and their physical reactions but I would’ve loved more of the deep inner thoughts haha.

This book is perfect for fans of Elsie Silver, Sarah Adams, Ronnie Matthews, and honestly Penelope Douglas (but if you want a man who would do anything for you minus the creepy super dark romance aspect hahaha).

THANK YOU LOVENOTESPR AND HALEY HARRIS FOR THE EARC 🩷🩷🩷

First Impressions: A sweet, small town romance is overshadowed by a looming serial killer. West, the town sheriff, must balance pursuing a dangerous criminal while also trying to claim the heart of local baker, Jade.

Pacing: The book takes places over a season, but while the romance is a slow burn, the criminal investigation moves at a blinding pace to keep up with the growing number of victims.

Character development: West (MMC) is a serious but sweet officer of the law. He comes from a loving family, but with a history of deep heartache, it's taken him a long time to confront his feelings for Jade (FMC). Jade is a sweet but private person harboring a tragic secret. Through patience and trust, they heal some old wounds together and start to rebuild themselves from the inside out.

World Building: Lavender Falls is a quaint, tight-knit town. Despite Jade being an outsider, the townsfolk a rather kind to her and seem to really enjoy their new, enterprising baker. The town is an idyllic place and the last place anyone would expect to plagued by a serial killer.

Romance: West and Jade are the sweetest! It's obvious they are both a little reluctant to open up to love again, but after two years of mutual yearning, they finally give romance another chance.

Spice: The book had its spicy moments (including a very memorable and impulsive romp), but it's secondary to the romance.

Errors and Consistency: I couldn't find any obvious errors, but there were some aspects of the police investigation that were a bit unrealistic. I understand the story takes place in Canada, so proceedure may be different than the US.

Overall experience: I loved this! "Pieces of Me" is the perfect thriller to kick off my summer reading. I'm glad I signed up for the author's mailing list, because I ate up this small town romance/thriller mash-up.

Thank you so much to Haley Harris and Love Notes PR for the ARC copy of this book!!

I really wanted to love this one it’s a romantic suspense and the premise was super interesting. The first chapter was insane and really drew me in. I also really loved that this was set in Canada, and don’t even get me started on the cover it is absolutely gorgeous 😍. The thing that really took me out of the story was some of the writing. It felt a bit clunky and the phrases the characters were saying seemed too formal for them/ the situation. I also felt like West really sexualized Jade throughout the story (and the way he described her at points didn’t seem like the way a man would describe a woman’s body). But with all the sexualization there was minimal physical scenes in the book/ fade to black (which is completely ok it just felt a bit odd considering how often he was talking about her body and how much he wanted her). Also the suspense/ mystery aspect of the book wasn’t super suspenseful. There was a bit of a twist at the end but it honestly felt a little too convenient. And I think the book probably could’ve been cut in half if Jade had come forward sooner. I get she was scared but based on the kind of person she was made out to be in the book she wouldn’t want people to get hurt and if she could’ve helped things by coming out with her secret sooner I feel like she would have. I also thought West as the Sheriff was at times not convincing like when he was questioning people he would ask like 5 questions at a time to victims/ witnesses which is not how Police operate and that kind of took me out of the story a little bit. Overall though I think it was a decent debut and the author really shows promise. I’m still looking forward to the other books and will probably read them. As always I recommend checking the book out for yourself, just because I didn’t love it doesn’t mean you won’t!!

I felt tethered to this book from the very beginning. It was an incredibly harrowing start, and I swear my breath caught in my throat multiple times during that gut-wrenching prologue.

Ten years later, Jade runs a bakery and coffee shop with her best friend and business partner, Sarah, in Lavender Falls, British Columbia. While it seems she has moved on with her life, her traumatic past returns to haunt her when a murder takes place.

Weston Donovan, the town’s Sherriff who has a not-so-secret crush on Jade, takes it upon himself to personally protect her when she politely declines. Weston is so adorably cute, flirting with Jade, while she isn’t brave enough to respond to his romantic playfulness or even call him by name. He is a golden retriever, always there for Jade. He is truly a wonderfully caring man who gives me the feels.

I liked the strength of Jade’s character. Even when she is nearly broken by moments of fear—like the feeling of being watched or catching a shadow of a person—she always bounces back. Although she might curl into a ball in the moment, she recovers quickly once she calms down and receives reassurance.

While this slow-burning romantic suspense/murder mystery has a serious tone, the side characters add a fun, balancing element. Haley has given us enough detail about the side characters to keep us interested for future books.

Whilst I loved getting to know the folks of Lavender Falls, including Weston’s three brothers, I found myself relishing the moments Weston’s younger brother, Hayes, would rile Sarah. I really hope we get their story in a future book, as I am intrigued by their past and current dynamic.

A minor criticism is that the narrative momentarily prioritised the romantic development between Jade and Weston over detailing the murder, diminishing the suspense, even though it was heightened again in the latter part of the book.

Overall, I lost myself completely in this book and enjoyed the romance and suspense that Haley created. The ending had me on the edge of my seat and left me wanting more.

There’s something quietly tender about Pieces of Me by Haley Harris, like love that lingers before it ever dares to speak its name.

This is a story built on fragments of memory, of fear, of hope and at its center is Jade, a woman learning how to exist again in the soft, watchful stillness of Lavender Falls. She doesn’t arrive whole. She arrives careful. Guarded. Carrying a past that clings like a shadow at dusk. And yet, she stays.

And then there’s West.

Steady, patient, the kind of man who doesn’t demand the spotlight but somehow becomes it anyway. The kind of love he offers isn’t loud, it’s the quiet kind, the kind that waits, the kind that understands. His feelings for Jade aren’t rushed or reckless; they unfold slowly.

A thread of suspense weaves through the narrative, adding weight to the sweetness. It gives the story an undercurrent of unease, a reminder that the past is never as far away as we’d like it to be. That healing isn’t linear, it’s messy, hesitant, and sometimes frustratingly slow.
And that’s where the story wavers.

There’s something undeniably compelling here. A sincerity. A softness that refuses to be overlooked. The dialogue may stumble at times, the pacing may hesitate, but the heart of the story? It remains intact.

This book doesn’t demand your attention, it invites it. Gently. Patiently. Like West himself. For a debut, that’s something worth noticing.

If you’re drawn to romances that favor tenderness over tension, connection over chaos, stories where love grows in quiet corners and healing comes in pieces, this one will find its place with you.

Not perfect. But warm. And sometimes, that’s exactly what you need.

Gratitude to Haley Harris and Love Notes PR for this ARC

Thank you to Love Notes PR and Haley Harris for the opportunity to read this ARC. 💚

This is the kind of story that quietly pulls you in and then refuses to let go. 💜 It blends emotional vulnerability, small-town warmth, and a constant undercurrent of danger into something that feels both comforting and unsettling at the same time.

At its core, this is a story about survival not just in the physical sense, but emotionally. The heroine carries the weight of a brutal past, and that trauma is written into every choice she makes. Harris does a strong job portraying what it means to live in hiding: the guarded thoughts, the instinct to run, the difficulty of trusting even the safest places. Lavender Falls, with its cozy atmosphere and tight-knit community, becomes more than just a setting... it feels like a fragile sanctuary she doesn’t quite believe she deserves. 🫶🏻

And then there’s Weston Donovan... He is soft where she is guarded, steady where she is fractured. He’s not just “the love interest”, he’s a catalyst. His patience and genuine kindness slowly chip away at her defenses, creating a romance that feels earned rather than rushed.💞 Their relationship unfolds with a delicate tension: you’re constantly aware that while love is growing, so is the risk.

What makes this book especially compelling is how it balances that romance with suspense. 🔪
The looming threat never disappears, it lingers in the background, tightening its grip as the story progresses. The idea that her past isn’t buried but actively hunting her adds a layer of urgency that keeps the pages turning. By the time her history begins to intertwine with the murders in Lavender Falls, the story shifts from emotional healing to something far more dangerous. 🩸

The writing itself leans into a reflective, almost intimate tone. It feels like being let inside someone’s carefully guarded mind, piece by piece fitting, given the title. 🧩 There’s a strong sense of internal conflict throughout: the push and pull between wanting to stay and needing to run, between love and self-preservation.

If there’s one thing this book excels at, it’s that feeling of fragility. Nothing ever feels completely safe: not the town, not the relationship, not even the moments of happiness. And that’s exactly what makes it so engaging.

Overall, is a slow-burn romantic suspense with emotional depth and a haunting edge. It’s about trust, healing, and the terrifying vulnerability of letting someone see all the broken parts of you and choosing to stay anyway.

⭐️ 4/5 • 🌶️ 3.5/5

wow i really enjoyed this book. from the very first chapter i was hooked and found myself saying “just one more chapter” until suddenly it was way too late and i needed to sleep 😭

this story felt so comforting but also had that layer of suspense running through it because of the mystery element, which kept things really interesting. i loved the mix of small town vibes, found family, and romance, it just worked so well.

jade is such a lovely character and i was rooting for her the whole time. seeing her try to escape her past and start fresh in lavender falls was really emotional, and i loved watching her slowly build a new life for herself. and WEST… a literal gentle giant 🥹

their romance is so soft and sweet. it kind of feels like insta-love as a reader, but finding out he’d actually been pining for her??? i melted. the moment where you realise he’s been going into her bakery every single day, buying coffee he doesn’t even like just to see her… i’m unwell. that is peak romance.

the spice is very low, which normally isn’t my go-to, but honestly it fit the story perfectly and didn’t take anything away from their relationship.

i also loved the side characters… especially sarah (i NEED her book immediately) and west’s brothers. i’m so excited for their stories because the family dynamic was everything.

my only complaint is that this is the author’s debut and there’s nothing else out yet because i need more RIGHT NOW 😭

definitely recommend if you love small town romance, protective but soft MMCs, found family, and a healing love story (plus baker x town sheriff!!)

thank you to love notes pr and haley harris for this arc copy 💜

Do not be fooled by the beautiful, tranquil cover. This book will hit you hard, leaving you gasping for air. The opening alone left me shaken, and I found myself carrying that heaviness well into the rest of the story. What stayed with me most was Jade and how she keeps going, keeps showing up for life, even when her past is clearly sitting just beneath the surface. I could feel her fear, her hesitation, and that constant sense of looking over her shoulder. I really connected with how her trauma was written. It didn’t feel rushed or brushed aside. It showed up in small, everyday ways—her thoughts, her reactions, her need for control. That made her feel real to me, not like a character created just for drama.

West brought a different kind of energy to the story. I found myself liking him, especially in the quieter moments where he just observes Jade and tries to understand her. At times, I did feel like he saw her a little too perfectly, but I also understood why—she’s written in a way that draws you in.

I’ll be honest, the shift in pacing after the opening threw me off a bit. I went from complete shock to a slower, more grounded rhythm, and it took me a while to adjust. But once I settled into it, I started appreciating the buildup, especially knowing something darker was always lurking in the background.

This isn’t a light read. It made me uncomfortable at times, and there were moments I had to pause and process what I had just read. But that’s also why it worked for me. It felt intense, emotional, and very human.

By the end, I wasn’t just reading Jade’s story—I was rooting for her to finally feel safe, to breathe without fear, and to let someone in.

Arc read 🫦

Omg this book😭 had me HOOKED I didn’t want to go to work😭😅

Whilst I did think the killer was going to be Ian I’m so glad with the shock twist with Garrett being Adam’s step-brother!!

‘He reminds me of a young Chad Michael Murray’ I was picturing him and omg what a throw back crush🫶🏻🫦

‘Every woman needs a real good orgasm every now and then.” AMEN sis🫱🏻‍🫲🏼

I loved watching Jade and West’s relationship form, it was so cute, and omfg I’d love to visit lemon and lavender 🍋 💜

I loved all of the other characters being mentioned and I think that will be because of future books? 👀
Sarah and Hayes❤️‍🔥
I did think maybe a Colt and nanny book,.. but since reading to the end it’ll defo be Colt and Mabel🌷

Such a cute read I loved it, it wasn’t too spicy but I really don’t think this book needed it, I was dragged in with just the storyline and getting to know everyone and it was so entertaining.

‘“Taken or not, you don’t fucking lay a hand on a woman unless they want you to,’ this had my jumping up and down because YES YES YES. Say it louder 👏🏻

‘save a horse, ride a cowboy’ YEEEHAW 🤠

I honestly also thought we’d lost Jade at the end, I had tears in my eyes thinking nooo not after all of that is he going to lose her 😭😭

‘you would give me pieces of yourself.’ The whole meaning of the book🫶🏻

And who doesn’t love a small town romance.. with some thrown in cowboys and sheriffs? 👀

I loved it, and even though other books haven’t been announced yet I for one cannot wait to read whatever Haley brings out next! Perfect ❤️

Pieces of Me gave cozy, emotional small-town romance with a touch of suspense 🥹🤍
Jade’s story pulled me in right away. Watching her try to rebuild her life while carrying so much from her past felt really grounded and emotional. There’s a softness to her journey that makes it easy to root for her the entire time.
And West?? 🫶🏼
steady, protective, patient… full-on green flag MMC energy. Their dynamic felt very healing-focused, which I did enjoy, especially with how slow burn their relationship is (and I mean slow slow 😅).
The suspense element was also a nice addition. I liked how it kept me guessing without overtaking the romance, and I was genuinely wrong about my theories more than once 👀
✨ what I really enjoyed:
• cozy small-town setting
• protective MMC / healing romance
• suspense that kept things engaging
• Jade + West’s emotional connection
✨ what held it back from a full 5⭐️:
• pacing around Jade’s past felt uneven and slightly drawn out
• some dialogue felt stilted or a bit juvenile at times
• the ending felt rushed compared to how slowly everything built
• the “who did it” resolution wrapped up too quickly
• intimacy moments (fade-to-black) felt like they could’ve been expanded to deepen emotional connection
overall: a solid, emotional small-town romance with suspense that kept me engaged, even if a few pacing and execution choices kept it from being a full 5⭐️ 🤍

⭐️⭐️⭐️✨

This was almost a solid 4 star for me but there was just little bit too much murder. It was woven into the story naturally so it flowed well and worked great with the plot but the bad guy is very serial killery.

That aside, this was such a great start to a new series and I would like to mention that this is a DEBUT! Which I would have never known because it was written very well. I think the author has a future as a big indie author because there was a lot of potential here and I am looking forward to the rest of the series. I am really curious about Cade and his potential pairing because if it’s who I think it is there will be so much angst and I know it will be an emotional ride!

Our heroine Jade is in hiding from a a brutal past that took her family from her. Relocated to Lavender Falls (is this a real place? Because it was so charming I would love to visit if so) she now has a new life with a group of great friends but is a bit hesitant to fall in love.

Our hero Weston was definitely written for women by a woman because he was the most golden retriever MMC ever. He was exactly what Jade needed.

I really enjoyed Jade and West’s story. It was heartwarming and emotional and I loved their cute little dialogue. You could just feel their crush on each other!

For a debut novel, I honestly think the author did a really good job. The premise had me hooked right away, a woman on the run for years after surviving something brutal, trying to start over in a small town, only for her past to catch up to her… I mean, that’s right up my alley. I was definitely intrigued going in. But overall, I don’t think this was my kind of suspense.

It leaned way more into a cozy, small town romance vibe, almost like a Hallmark movie with a murder mystery layered in. And while I can totally see the appeal of that, I usually like my suspense to feel a little darker, a little more intense, and this just didn’t quite hit that for me. Weston, the small town sheriff, was super sweet and had such a big heart, which I did love. Their relationship had some really cute moments, but the dialogue between characters felt a little juvenile at times, which pulled me out of the story here and there.

That said, I can see this being a hit for a lot of readers, especially if you love softer romance with a touch of mystery and a protective small town hero. It just didn’t fully land for me personally. It’s a strong debut with a great concept, just not quite my taste, but I’m definitely curious to see what she does next!

DNF @ 27%

I feel so bad DNFing this book but I just can't get into it. This is a debut, and it absolutely had potential (as does the whole series). I think it just needed to be finessed a bit more. Some of the dialogue was stilted and didn't flow well. I found myself skimming to get to the more important parts because there were parts included that just weren't necessary to progress the story at all. I also felt like there was a lot of info-dumping and too many character introductions that didn't need to be as in-depth as they were quite yet. There was also a few times when I felt like West was sexualizing Jade a bit too much. He seemed like a good guy, but just too focused on her looks at times and not enough on her personality or getting to know her. While I wanted to see what happened with the suspense aspect of the story, I didn't want it badly enough to continue reading. I would definitely be willing to try the next book in the series eventually to see if the author can finesse her writing more, because there really is a lot of potential in the story and the author. I think this one just didn't quite hit the mark for me.

I really enjoyed Pieces of Me by Haley Harris. It delivers a great mix of suspense, a layered and emotional plot, and a heartfelt romance between West and Jade.

Jade’s story is truly heartbreaking, and that’s what made this book stand out for me. She’s been through so much, carrying a painful past that shapes how she sees the world and the walls she builds around herself. Watching her slowly open up and face everything she’s been through added a lot of depth and emotion to the story. It made her growth feel real and hard-earned.

I loved how West steps into the role of protector while still giving Jade the time and space she needs to share her story on her own terms. Their relationship felt natural, not rushed, and built on trust.

The small town setting and the bakery added a cozy contrast to the heavier themes, and the found family element was done really well. The side characters all brought something unique and helped make the story feel full and engaging.

The last 10% of the book was especially gripping I didn’t want to stop reading. Everything came together in a way that kept the tension high and made it hard to put down.

Overall, this was an emotional and engaging read, and I’m definitely looking forward to continuing the series and reading more from this author.

💜 | Small-town romantic suspense, murder mystery
✨ | ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I really enjoyed this book, from the very first chapter till the end of the book 😍🪻. I kept saying to myself “just one more chapter” until I found myself reading late into the night 🤣🤣. And THAT TWIST I wasn’t expecting it at all 😯🫢.

Jade is one strong woman, after surviving a tragic event that happened in her past, and slowly building her life in lavender falls was really emotional and heartfelt 🥹💜. And West. The town sheriff. Protective, patient, a whole green forest, and head over heels for Jade the very first time her saw her. The guy kept ordering something he didn’t even like (coffee) the past few years just to come to the bakery and see her 😍🥹💜💜.

Their romance was slow burn (like really really slow) 😆😆. They didn’t even 💋 until 200ish in the book 🤭☺️.

I also loved the side characters - Jade’s bestie Sarah, West’s brothers and his sister Wren. I NEED their stories RIGHT NOW 😭😭. And the ending of the book was just perfect 💋💜💍. Let’s just say everyone got what they deserved 😌💜.

I would definitely recommend this book if you love small town romance with a sprinkle of suspense 💜💜.
