Up-and-coming luxury brand Phallacy takes red-carpet fashion by storm…

Growing a fashion atelier from the ground up isn’t easy, but it’s still awesome. I design gorgeous clothes that people pay a lot of money for, I work with my best friend, and Hollywood A-listers are starting to murmur my name. Things couldn’t be better.

Except anxiety is a beast that’s ridden me my whole life. It doesn’t matter how good things might be, there’s always something it takes exception to. And when my baseline stress starts to rise, I become nonverbal.

Which is why my first encounter with celebrity stylist Griff Pevensy is both a dream and a nightmare. I have the chance to design an awards gown for one of the most iconic women in the industry, but a mostly silent meeting plus a design that’s not really his style aren’t likely to get me past gatekeeper Griff. If I want to make this gown, I need to connect with him and win him over.

That turns out to be a lot easier than expected. Who knew I’d have so much in common with an ex-Marine stylist who prefers to communicate in grunts? We both love fashion, his perfect princess dog, hanging out with my codependent friends… and maybe each other.

The new problem is… how unprofessional can we get before people notice? And how much do I care?

LOUISA MASTERS started reading romance much earlier than her mother thought she should. While other teenagers were sneaking out of the house, Louisa was sneaking romance novels in and working out how to read them without being discovered. She’s spent most of her life feeling sorry for people who don’t read, convinced that books are the solution to every problem. As an adult, she feeds her addiction in every spare second, only occasionally tearing herself away to do things like answer the phone and pay bills. She spent years trying to build a “sensible” career, working in bookstores, recruitment, resource management, administration, and as a travel agent, before finally conceding defeat and devoting herself to the world of romance novels. Louisa has a long list of places first discovered in books that she wants to visit, and every so often she overcomes her loathing of jet lag and takes a trip that charges her imagination. She lives in Melbourne, Australia, where she whines about the weather for most of the year while secretly admitting she’ll probably never move.

I really enjoyed this! I definitely recommend getting the prequel novella, Rebrand, from the Book Funnel 'Fresh Start' promotion while it's still available as it's a great introduction to this series.

You wouldn't know it from my practical athleisure 'mum of a whirlwind' wardrobe, but I really enjoy fashion and this was just such a fun book. It reminded me of textile lessons and when I had a fashion wheel as a kid, and now I want to go get my sewing machine out and make something pretty.

I loved seeing Phil and the whole gang from Batting Style again and getting an update on where they are in their lives now. Blaise and Jordan were still adorable and the whole friendship group just felt like a warm hug.

Phil instantly stole my heart though and I really liked the representation of anxiety and selective mutism here. My kid is totally nonverbal and it makes me so mad when people decide that's a huge flaw he has before they even try and get to know him, so I was super happy to see that Phil had such a great support system around him and that there was genuine understanding of his needs.

Griff was prickly to begin with but watching him become so infatuated with Phil was adorable. Their relationship was really cute and I loved how it progressed quickly but didn't feel rushed. Vivi kinda stole the show everytime she was in a scene too!

I'm very keen for more books in this series and I'm already curious about Adam and Harold, plus I want to know what's going on with Calla and Polly...

This was a quick, sweet, and very easy read. The fashion-world backdrop is fun, and the dynamic between designer and stylist is cute and low-angst.

That said, it stayed firmly in “nice” territory for me. I kept hoping for a bit more depth or emotional spark, and the story felt slightly surface-level overall. It may just be timing — I’m not in a particularly glossy, fashion-forward mood right now — but it ended up feeling pleasant rather than memorable.

A solid, light romance, just not one that fully wowed me.

I'm loving this new series of Louisa's so far (there's a freebie prequel which is available via a BookFunnel giveaway until January 31st) because it's just super fun, relatively low angst and has a lot of the hallmark humour of all her work.

Phil's crippling anxiety and selective mutism is dealt with in such a sensitive way that my heart was his from the off, he's a beautiful soul who just wants to make his wonderful creations alongside his ride or die best friend Callie.

His bunch of best friends ties in to the FU series, as well as loosely into Louisa's wider universe, but you don't need to have read any of those books to get a sense of how wonderful this bunch of people are (although I would highly recommend!)

Griff, a former Marine now stylist, is also brilliantly crafted, he's not so much a grumpy one as such, more a guarded man who doesn't always find peopling easy. So when he meets Phil, his initial reaction is to think he's standoffish and thinks so highly of himself he won't talk to others.

Of course, this couldn't be further from the truth and when he does find out the reason for Phil's silence, he's determined to fix things and, the more they interact through texts and phone calls, the more he falls for him.

I loved the sweetness of this relationship development, although it does happen super fast, which is one of the reasons for me knocking off a star, I felt the I love you's came a little bit quickly even though things are pretty intense and serious from the off.

It's also relatively low steam, which is another thing where I felt I just missed out a tiny bit more on seeing them becoming increasingly intimate with each other. I always prefer to see these moments on vulnerability on page, but it's not totally fade to black and there's still plenty of emotional connectivity throughout.

The secondary plot line, which I won't spoil, also works well to bring added tension to the narrative and I am so looking forward to seeing who else might be getting a book because there's a fair number of potential candidates!

Well, there sure was a lot that I loved about Couture - though I am definitely not a couture kinda girl.

Phil grabbed my heart from this first "quite" moment, and I adored him more all the time. I liked how well Masters represented Phil's anxiety/mutism. I could fell his anxiety jump off the page, and I felt it all with him.

Griff, or as I called him at first Grumpy, took a while for me to warm up to, however once I did it was all ablaze. Phil and Griff just... fit. And I loved that for them.

It was great to get to see the guys from Batting Style and seeing where their lives have gone.

I did read Rebrand just prior to Couture, but if you don't you will get the gist of it all, but will miss some of the nuances of some of the side characters.

I look forward to more of the Style Me series in the future.

DNF @15%

This is boring to me, unfortunately. I don't think it's a fault of the book. It could just be my reading mood as I am feeling a bit slumpy. So if you're into the fashion industry and this sounds interesting, definitely still check it out as I feel I am in the minority here.

Thank you to the author and GRR for the ARC. All thoughts are my own.

DNF @ 65%

The story didn't do a good job giving us a believable reason for why Griff immediately disliked Phil. Him just going "designers are stuck up" as a freaking stylist proof all people made him look super judgemental and annoying with how strongly he was already thinking about his dislike for a guy he literally hadn't spoken to.

Way too many names shotgunned at us at Phil's friend dinner thing. I literally did not care about any of them either, so having Phil's first couple of chapters feature all of then so heavily made it such a bore. I get he needed a friend group to be comfortable with, but having 5-6 different people was too many in one go. By contrast, Adam was pretty funny and endearing. By only having a single, strong personality as a confidant, Adam became memorable for being Griff's friend more so than Blaise, Xera, Polly, etc.

Griff finding out about Phil's selective mutism then feeling bad about it was fine, but it really just highlighted how much of an ass he was in the first place. I really needed the story to give us a believable reason for why he just immediately assumed the worst out of Phil's situation because with any sort of justification other than his belief thag "designers are all stuck up" Griff just looked like an immature, insecure, and judgemental prick. Thank god he apologized and felt guilty, but it didn't shift my view of him a a character much.

Phil's text messages are delightfully cringe. Just enough for second-hand embarrassment but not quite "I can't read this anymore" levels of mortification.

I called it quits when I realized I read 65% and was bored. There wasn't any tension between Griff and Phil after they got on good terms since they basically just insta got into a fluffy relationship afterwards. There was no conflict between them because they both were super understanding and caring towards each other andn there was no conflict outside of the relationship because everything was fine professionally.

TL;DR: Griff starts off as an asshole but then everything is perfect once he apologizes. No real barrier to the romance and no true conflict for them to get over.

Phil is my first character with selective mutism, it was an interesting problem to read about from inside his head. So much justification and shame. I really liked Griff, he was a solid character and slotted himself into Phil's world so well. As is frequently the case with new series by romance authors, it seems I was unaware this was a spinoff from a past series she'd written (I think? There were a lot of previous couples at least lol) and that's always a mixed bag for me, but for the most part worked here. There were multiple couples whose books I must have missed in the past, but none of them were important enough to the plot that it felt like a continuation of their series. I wasn't too dazzled with the suspense plot that was added in the back half of the book, it was something that could have been interesting but in my opinion didn't stick the landing.

Thank you to GRR for an eARC of this title in exchange for a fair review.

I truly enjoyed this book a lot! The two guys had so much chemistry and there was so much communication in whatever form or shape it could be, and so much consent. Plus there was steam but not much which suited this kind of story perfectly. I loved the side characters, many we know from other books by this author; it was so much fun meeting them again and seeing how they're doing!
Plus the tiny bit of mystery that gave the story a different perspective for a tiny bit but not overwhelming the overall lightness of the romance.
I can't wait to read more books in this series! I'm not into fashion at all, I'm a fashion disaster, but I love watching beautiful dresses!

This is the newest of Louisa Masters books and it doesn't disappoint. We follow a relatively new fashion house, Phallacy, as its co-founders make a name for themselves. Calla is the business person, she did design but now prefers to see to the day to day running of the fashion house. Phil is the designer. He also suffers from selective mutism, something I've not heard of before. When Griff, a stylist from Style Me first meets Phil, he thinks he's standoffish and doesn't take to him at all. However, Griff's boss has a quiet word and Griff realises he's got the wrong end of the stick! Griff then text's Phil and the rest is history!

A lovely story with a HEA, I'm hoping there will be lots more in this fashion world. Love the name of the dog, her namesake was larger than life.

I really enjoyed this cute story between a fashion designer and an ex-marine turned stylist (what a change of career). While Phil's anxiety caused some misunderstandings at the beginning, they quickly developed a connection that would go beyond what they thought. It’s a cute story with some dark moments for Phil as he is kind of a victim of his success but overall it is a smooth read with sweet moments and lots of amazing friends. I’m curious to see where this series will go, but I’m ready for the drama.

Very sweet and lovely celebrity fashion industry romance.

Griffin Pevensy’s mature superstar celeb client wants to shake things up for her image and wants a dress by a little known but up and coming new design house, Phallacy.

Phil Marchand, half of Phallacy, loves to work behind the scenes where his anxiety and selective mutism affect only himself. But he knows interacting with clients and stylists is part of his job, so…he does his best.

Griff might have the impression, when he first meets with Phallacy, that Phil is a diva who chooses not to talk because he can’t be bothered… oops!

Luckily that’s straightened out fast…and these two go gaga for each other. They’re adorable together. The end.

Well, almost! There’s a little stalker subplot, and a lot of fun “behind the scenes” stylist insider material (ha ha see what I did there?!) to flesh out an enjoyable read. I smiled all the way through.

Secondary characters enhance the read. Warning, there are a bunch of characters who were MCs from a few of the author’s previous stories, and that might at first be a little overwhelming for readers new to the world. This story stands alone, but, if I didn’t know who they were, I might have been a bit annoyed by all the explanations and cameos that weren’t really needed for this plot. Still…I had read many of the books, and so enjoyed seeing everyone here. SCs do include Damian and Kane from this book's cute prequel novella, Branded, but they’re intrinsic to this world because Damian is Griff’s boss.

Did I mention there is a wonderful dog?! Vivi. I’ll let you learn her full name when Phil does, cause it’s sooo cute.

The romance is very easy, low conflict, and maybe the ILYs happen fast, but, whatevs. I was smiling. Sex is not super detailed.

HEA, stylist and fashion designer celebrity-adjacent romance, stalker element. NO OM action or drama at all, very safe for me (brief mentions of pasts, but not at unfortunate moments, thank you author.) Safe for me. Recommended!

My thanks to Gay Romance Reviews for the ARC; this is my free and impartial opinion.

Hellooo insta-love. All tied up in a pretty relationship bow after 2 weeks of knowing each other. We have Griff, a Marine now fashion stylist and Phil, a ginger fashion designer with selective mutism and social anxiety. This has a cute premise but I felt like the writing style had more telling than showing which made everything feel a little surface level.

The relationship moves way too fast for my liking - insta-attraction to insta-love to insta happy home paradise. My romance needs were not met at all 😭 I felt no chemistry, no tension, no swoony vibes. I got no tingles!

I love seeing characters with disorders that I can relate to and although the facts were accurate, the way it was discussed felt like I was reading “The how-to guide to dating a person with selective mutism”. I personally would have preferred it to come across more naturally.

I started off invested and enjoying this but my interest waned by 50%. It picked up as the the plot thickens but then the reason behind it? What? Really??Nooooooo. I really want to discuss this but dont want to drop a major spoiler on an ARC review but also, seriously..I’m not fan of the authors choice here. I’ll include the major spoiler at the bottom of this review.

This is my first Louisa Masters book. Unsure if I’m sold enough to read any others.

I’m thankful to have received an ARC from GRR, all thoughts are my own.

****Major spoiler****
Making a woman the villain and blaming her criminal actions on “not coping well with menopause” does not sit right with me. Have we not as a society worked really hard to curb “PMSing” jokes and address medical gaslighting in womens’s health? It took a long time for women not to be thrown in an asylum with their babies forcibly removed when they suffered postnatal depression. Using “rage-and-hormone fueled impulse” as the reason for stalking and harassing someone comes across to me as a bit of a harmful, outdated and sexist narrative.

“Apparently, she hadn’t been coping well with menopause and hormonal dysregulation, which the judge took into account. She’s got twelve months’ probation and community service, mandated therapy and medical assessments, and paid a thousand-dollar fine. Phil also has a restraining order against her.”

Beware the menopausal woman, as it could make her unstable to the point of sending death threats and a personalised voodoo doll stabbed through with a knife.

It was so much fun to read a story set in the fashion industry, and Louisa Masters couldn't have picked two sweeter guys for the series debut. Phil was the brilliant and anxious clothing designer while Griff was the visually intimidating but teddy bear at heart stylist. The two got off entirely on the wrong foot, but then fell into a delightfully flirty and sweet friendship that heated up quickly. Griff wasn't the most patient of guys, and that definitely contributed to the negative face to face meeting he and Phil had, but when he realized he was wrong he didn't shy away from apologizing and making amends. Phil's selective mutism was a source of frustration for him, but thankfully all of his friends were rockstars who didn't let anyone give him a hard time during his nonverbal periods. As Griff and Phil got to know each other past first impressions, they exchanged flirty texts, shared cute dog dad photos, and planned low-key date nights to start exploring their attraction. One of my favorite aspects of the book was learning about Phil's thought process for his incredible clothing designs, and I absolutely love his entire friend group and need them all to get HEAs of their own. The stalker suspense plotline took me by surprise, but I felt it was nicely balanced and didn't overwhelm the other elements of the story. Phil and Griff demonstrated they would do whatever it took to support each other without having to go to the extreme of putting their lives on the line, and then the epic red carpet finale cemented their status as the fashion industry's new creative superstars!

I have thoroughly enjoyed Paranormal MM Romance book series by Louisa and this book was no exception. Griff and Phil’s characters are well written with lot of layers. Griff is an ex Marine turned Fashion Stylist for Hollywood stars. He is grumpy but excellent at what he does and has a cute but sassy Yorkshire terrier named Vivi. Phil is an extremely talented Fashion Designer who struggles with social anxiety and selective mutism. It was heartwarming to read about Phil’s amazing friend group who are very protective, supportive and understanding of his condition. Griff’s first impression of Phil is not very good but when Griff learns about why Phil acted the way he did during their first meeting and about Phil’s condition, he realizes his mistake and extend an olive branch. Most of the interaction between Griff and Phil in the beginning happens over text and during these texting sessions, they learn a lot about each other. They also click together in terms of creativity and other aspects of life. Griff is extremely understanding regarding Phil’s condition and learns how to help him. He is also extremely protective, caring and supportive of Phil. Sweet and romantic moments shared between them are absolute swoon worthy. There were some emotional scenes where Phil actively struggled with his anxiety and those scenes broke my heart. Phil and Griff are perfect for each other in every way possible and they make a sweet couple. With that said, if you are looking for an amazing story with great characters, this book is for you.

3.5 stars, rounded up

There was a lot to love here. Phil and Griff as individuals❤️Phil and Griff as a couple❤️ And Phil’s friendship group is definitely friend gaol levels of awesome.
I loved 'Batting Style' so it was great to see gang again. They’re so supportive, and I loved how they immediately they welcomed Griff.

I loved Griff's grunt language, yet the way he tried to force himself to use words so not to intimidate people. I loved his dog (Vivi ❤️) and how caring he was so quickly for Phil.
Phil was great, I was so excited to see his story. I really appreciated seeing a character with anxiety and mutism portrayed with so much care. The way the people around him understood, respected, and accommodated him felt genuinely lovely.

There were a few things I didn't click with unfortunately. The stalker plot involving Phil felt a bit rushed and underdeveloped. The romance leaned a little too insta-lovey for my taste, I would have liked more time seeing Phil and Griff build on their attraction and connection. That said, I did really love that neither of them fought their feelings—no unnecessary angst or mind games, just two men being open and honest about what they wanted, which was refreshing and very sweet.

For a shorter book (around 260 pages), this was a great story. I just wouldn’t have been upset if it had been longer, and we'd spent more time living alongside the MCs as they learned about each other and deepened their relationship.

Overall, this was a lovely, positive, and happy read that left me smiling.

I was so excited to receive an ARC of Couture by Louisa Masters from Gay Romance Reviews as I had been looking forward to Phil’s story after being captivated by him in Batting Style (Franklin U 2).

Phil, is the head designer and co-owner of fashion label, Phallacy with his friend Calla. He also experiences anxiety and selective mutism which affects his day to day life, however he has a great support system around him.

Griff, is a successful stylist and ex-marine, he has a gruff exterior and like Phil, also doesn’t like to express himself with too many words. He is a proud dog daddy to his little princess, Vivi and a great relationship with his sister Penny and nephew Carter, who also has an adorable relationship with Vivi, the nightly phone calls melted my heart.

Their professional paths cross and whilst initial impressions are misconstrued, Griff quickly becomes smitten with the blushing Phil and the feelings are definitely mutual. The honesty between these two was so refreshing, the flirting in the adorable text messages, and of course the cute Vivi picks.

These two really are just the sweetest as they get to know each other, Griff really is such a softie on the inside and Phil’s dominant side comes out when he’s comfortable. Griff is so considerate of Phil and his comfort, never pressuring him. He’s a protector when Phil needs him the most. They were just perfect for each other!

This was a fantastic start to a new series. I loved having all my favourite characters from Batting Style together again, seeing where they are now and I’m very hopeful that we will get more of their stories in the series.

I now need to go back and read the prequel novella, Rebound, which is Griff’s boss’ story.

What a gem from Louisa!

This was exactly the kind of story I needed to cleanse my soul after some heavy reading these past few days😅

I loved getting a glimpse into the fashion world and how stressful it can be for those involved. Especially as a new designer trying to make a name for himself.

But what I loved most about this story was how carefully written Phil’s character was. The way Louisa handled his anxiety and selective mutism was respectful and insightful. Educating those of us who have never experienced something like it, while also honoring those who deal with this everyday and letting them know there’s nothing wrong with them.

After all, it’s not their fault they have to deal with something they have no control over. Having to put their lives on hold because of their anxiety must be exhausting.

Phil had the best friends in the world. Having such a strong support system and people who would go to war for him is something not everyone is lucky to have. They certainly made him feel safe enough for him to be himself.

Griff didn’t make the best of impressions on me at first. He came off as a judgmental jerk who made assumptions about Phil without actually knowing anything about him. I only forgave him because he was genuinely ashamed of how he acted.

Plus, he ended up being the best boyfriend ever. He really cared about Phil and treated him like the king he was. They were perfect together and Vivi was simply a diva who deserved all the bows in the world 🥰

Fantastic narration by Greg. He really captured each character’s personality and emotions perfectly. Can’t recommend this book enough.

Griff is a stylist for the stars and Phil has a new designer label he’s getting up and running with his business partner and best friend, Calla.

One of Griff’s clients wants to change her style and wants a gown from Phil, so he meets with Phil and Calla. Phil has selective mutism due to his anxiety, but Griffin is told he’s quiet and assumes he’s just arrogant.

He apologizes and they begin texting about fashion, building friendship with some flirting. Phil is frustrated with his mutism but has some ways to manage it, including great friends who support him.

The two men agree to date and things move fast but feel right. When Phil receives a package with a doll of him with a knife in it he has a complete shutdown, but Griff stands by him.

The police figure out it’s their client’s assistant’s mother sending the notes, and Phil and Griff leave town to visit his sister in Vegas. The woman follows them to apologize, and it’s clear she has some issues with her own mental health. No harm done, the new gown is a hit for both men, and their relationship is on solid ground.

I love the fashion world and descriptive images of the clothes in the book. I also found the selective mutism interesting to read about, and I loved all the characters. The romance was a bit too insta-love for me in its pacing, but so much else was happening I can accept it.

Just a fun, cool concept and read overall.

I received this ARC for free and it’s my pleasure to write my honest review of it in appreciation.

faerie queen, fabulousity, pink sparkly headband bow, Thé Matcha 26, honorary queer, cuddle whore, fancy Marine training, #2 pencil, old frump, chrysalis

There's so much that goes on behind the scenes of a red carpet walk, fashion-wise. This gives us a peek into that world. It's fascinating and spellbinding. I had no idea of what a fashion stylist is and how involved they are in dressing a client. I also have a better appreciation of fashion designers.

Griff Pevensy is a celebrity fashion stylist. An Oscar nominated actress wants to change her look by getting a Phallacy designed dress. Griff is hesitant because their designs don't suit his client's image.

Phil Marchand is Phallacy's co-owner and head designer. Phallacy is rather new to the fashion scene, and would benefit from having super-celebrities, uber-famous, and upper class clients. So securing the job of designing Griff's client's dress would promote their business and raise their profile. One hurdle is Phil's high anxiety triggers and his adult selective mutism.

Phil and his business partner Calla Gardner prove Griff wrong and surprises him with their unique dress design. Griff takes Phil's reticence as egoistic aloofness until he learns of Phil's condition. Phil thinks that Griff hates him. Then Griff discovers how nice Phil is and that he's really a good person. Both men end up working together to make Griff's client's wishes come true.

I greedily read the easy-to-read story and truly enjoyed it. Everything just clicked and checked all the right boxes. I avidly recommend this book.

Insta-love to the nth degree

I'm not into fashion at all but it turns out, I love it when the fashion is the best bits of the book. Phil and Calla's fashion house was fascinating to me.
I've never encountered someone with selective mutism in real life nor on the page so this was a learning experience for me. I felt for Phil throughout and loved how respectful and protective his friends were of him.
I loved Phil as a character. Once Griff got his head out of his arse and realised what a twat he'd been on first meeting Phil, he got better. What didn't work so well was the insta-love between them, because they were all in after exchanging texts and one dinner with a lot of kissing and I couldn't see that with Phil's anxiety. I also didn't believe that Griff instinctively knew what to do in every situation and scenario when Phil started to get overwhelmed, seeing as he had never heard of selective mutism until his co-worker set him straight after that first meeting at Phallacy.
I liked Phil's friend circle but felt as though I was missing prior knowledge. As often happens these days, authors connect their standalones and universes but don't tell you in the blurb. That winds me up because I want to make the choice of whether to jump in halfway through, so to speak, rather than being blindsided.
The one thing that made me take off another star was the side plot of a stalker. It was completely redundant and totally ridiculous, especially the reason behind it.

An Enjoyable Read

After having read the novella Rebrand and enjoying the world of high end fashion I just had to read this book which gave us some of the same characters but this time we got an insight into Phil and Calla’s lives and their progression to making Phallacy a brand worn by Hollywoods elite.

I fell in love with Phil from the off. He was a talented designer but the other side of being the part owner of Phallacy was meeting the clients face to face because Phil suffered with severe anxiety which often led to selective mutism. I knew nothing about this but the author gave us a sensitive insight into how difficult living with this can be.

When Griff, an ex marine who works for Style Me, is told by one of his best clients a top Hollywood star, that she wants to break from her usual style and wear something prettier on the red carpet, she says she wants to wear a Phallacy dress much to Griff’s consternation but the moment he and Phil meet there is an instant attraction but the fact that Phil can’t speak in the meeting Griff takes as Phil being a diva, says the man who only talks in grunts!

When he finds out about Phil’s condition he regrets being so dismissive of him and his apology opens the door to a beautiful relationship. I loved all Phil’s close friends and he had a very supportive and protective support system, especially his best friend and business partner Calla and the mystery woven into the story towards the end gave this book an extra twist.

⭐⭐⭐ rounded up for representation

The beginning I really enjoyed - instalove, a cute dog, friends and fashion, I was totally on board, heading for five stars, favourite reads territory.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The middle, I wished we dwelled a little more on the dog club, since this premise was interesting and could have provided some humour, easy ways for us to witness our MCs chemistry, and a settling different from other books I've read. I was saddened this awesome location was immediately dropped, in exchange for our final storyline, and the story took a turn for extending our knowledge of world and friendships, rather than intensifying our view of these two as a couple.

⭐⭐⭐

The end, honestly, it made me more than disappointed. Not because of Louisa's writing skill - she takes us on a well written journey, that chooses to favour action, over interaction between our couple - but mostly because of the outcome. I don't want to spoil, but the culprit of drama injection and the reasoning behind it was depressing to me, for reasons that any woman reading, and honestly quite a lot of men who support strong women, would feel the same over.

⭐⭐

10/15 - Overall, this is a three star read for me, however, the research involved in selective mutism was clear to see, and I am grateful to see a diversification of anxiety represented, therefore I am adding a star for representation and research, and rating this read as four stars.

Thank you to GRR for this advanced copy.

I wasn't sure about this to start as the fashion world is not really my forte! However the setting is glamorous without being overdone, and I loved how much pride and joy the story takes in creativity, friendship and building something from nothing. The atelier feels alive, full of colour and personality, and it’s easy to see why success means so much to Phil beyond the accolades.

Phil’s anxiety and periods of being nonverbal are handled with real care and respect. It never feels like a plot device or something to be ‘fixed’, but simply part of who he is. His relationships, with his best friend, his wider circle, and eventually Griff, are shaped around understanding and accommodation, which makes the romance especially satisfying. Griff himself is a great counterpart: reserved, observant and far more thoughtful than his blunt exterior suggests. Watching them learn how to communicate in ways that work for both of them was genuinely lovely.

The romance leans more towards emotional connection than heat, and I enjoyed the softness of it especially the shared texts, quiet moments and growing trust which felt intimate in it's own way. There’s also a solid supporting cast and hints of bigger things to come, which left me excited for future books. Overall, this is a charming, warm, low-angst story with heart, humour and a couple you can’t help but root for.

I received a free arc copy and this is my honest review

I REALLY ENJOYED THIS!💕

I’m really not a girly girl and was a bit dubious about reading about fashions and style but I have read a couple of the authors books and I am so glad I picked this one, as I thoroughly enjoyed this read!

The characters were amazing as well as the side characters who played parts in other books.

The overall feel of this book was really like a big hug that was needed and experienced!

“Phil Marchand has anxiety and selective mutism. If he didn’t talk to you, it’s because you scared the fuck out of him and he couldn’t.”

Stylist for Style Me Griff Pevensy came across as a very judgemental character but he soon redeemed himself by his actions towards co-owner and designer of Phallacy- Phil Marchand!

Phil’s selective mutism and anxiety was portrayed in such a way that the reader will just want to give him a big hug for comfort!

Griff’s dog Vivi was just too cute by how she charmed everyone including Phil and how she grounded him when he needed comfort and affection.

The support that Phil had with his longstanding friends from college was so sweet and inspiring and endearing!

The connection that formed between two characters that had so much in common when the anxiety and judgement subsided was sweet not to mention the chemistry!

I look forward to more from this series!

I voluntarily received an ARC from GRR and the author for an honest non biased review.

Totally engrossing!

I loved this first book in a new series. It starts out as a kind of enemies to friends to lovers, lovely contemporary romance and then there’s a big twist which changes the tone and gives us some angst…which is appropriate as one of the MCs has serious anxiety resulting in selective mutism and nonverbal stress response.

Phil and Calla are best friends and business partners. It’s such an awesome relationship to read. Phil is an up and coming designer. Griff is a stylist at a top stylist business and one of his clients, an older well established actress tells him that she wants to change her style and if her new movie does well she wants a gown from Phallacy (Phil and Calla’s design house) for the Oscars. Griff doesn’t like the idea but his boss is a huge fan of Phallacy so they go to the meeting about a possible gown. Damian warns Griff that Phil might not talk (but not why) and Griff, a former Marine and a large man, assumes he’s an egotistical ass and behaves accordingly. Phil is intimidated by Griff and senses his disdain though he can’t figure out why, and his anxiety sky rockets and he’s goes nonverbal.

The relationship journey from there is so well done. And I love Phil’s found family is in college friend group who are all fiercely protective of him. I’d really like all their back stories! Looking forward to the next book in this series!

Phil and Griff's story starts with miscommunication but after that is resolved and they start to talk and get to know each other more it's no holds barred. They're fast and steamy and beautiful together. Phil is the co owner of Phallacy which is a fashion brand that's been on the rise lately. What could really set them apart is one of their outfits being chosen and worn by the perfect person to get their name out more. The thing that seems to stand as a possible obstacle in that is Griff, a stylist who Phil wants to get along and work with. The thing is though that Phil's job is what he loves but it's stressful and at times and with his anxiety it leads him to be nonverbal as he has selective mutism that can be a barrier between him and communicating with others. Griff being as he seems to communicate with grunts as answers sometimes himself isn't put off by it especially when their first interaction is resolved. Man the way Griff learned everything he could about how to make Phil feel calm, and accepted and cared for was everything. Even taking Phil's friend group/found family's advice to heart and really showing up for Phil was everything. Yes, these two were somewhat insta lust and insta love but it never once felt like what they shared wasn't genuine. They made me laugh, swoon and smile until my face hurt. I fell so hard for them and this book is yet another reason Louisa Masters is such a talented author.

4.25 stars

This is book one in the author’s new Style Me series and features two MCs, both involved in the fashion industry—Griff a stylist for the super wealthy and former Marine and Phil, a fashion designer.

Phil suffered from an anxiety disorder called selective mutism. It’s not something I’d ever heard of before but I’ve since looked it up and it’s a real thing. It’s heartbreaking to think that someone could be so riddled with anxiety that they would be physically unable to speak and it broke my heart for Phil. Thankfully, he had a wonderful group of friends that cared for and were fiercely protective of him.

I enjoyed reading Phil and Griff’s story but I was still a little surprised that there wasn’t a lot of heat. Personally, I would have liked a little bit more steam since it was such a slow burn but I did think the author presented Phil’s disability wonderfully, with sensitivity and empathy and I really liked that. I just hope that anyone who might suffer from the disorder has close friends or family who can support them when they’re unable to speak for themselves.

This was a really sweet romance with a little bit of suspense thrown in to round it out, a great group of friends, an adorable pup and a protective boyfriend to make Phil feel safe. If any of this piques your interest, check it out, it’s very much worth the time it takes to read. 4.25 stars
