Home To Me is a short story by June Jule which introduces us to Budgie Bay, a small coastal town in Oregon. Set in 1978, it is a sweet and cute romance between Goldie Cloverby and Amos Everhart. A story about surviving loss and finding a sense of belonging. A case of love at first sight, knowing life’s too short and time is precious.

“ You’re home to me. Even when I’m out there, I’ll be with you.”

Goldie experienced a tragedy five months ago and is struggling with her grief. When she finds a postcard of Budgie Bay in her Mum’s bible, she sees it as a sign and decides it’s the place for a new start. She travels from Atlanta on a bus with Linnie, her budgie, looking forward to meeting new people and finding happiness again. She never expects to find a place she would call home and the love of her life.

On arrival all her hopes turn into disaster when Linnie escapes his cage. She can’t lose him as he’s all she has left. She follows him down to the dock and she sees a tall and handsome man has luckily gain her budgie’s attention. Amos is a fisherman and owns Everharts Fish and Ice. He is immediately taken with the pretty woman. He is a quiet, reserved gentleman who usually keeps to himself, until Goldie suddenly enters his life.

Goldie stays at the Seabreze Boarding House, which is run by Matilda and her daughter Mae. They welcome her and she quickly builds up a lovely relationship with Mae. She also becomes friends with Lucia and her son Guy. We are also introduced to other residents and businesses in the town.

It was sweet as Goldie and Amos get to know each other over dinner dates and he takes her to his favourite places in Budgie Bay. He is such a kind and caring guy who provides her with the comfort she needs while still grieving. They have a real connection and he helps her as she rescues more budgies. She settles in and gets job as a lifestyle columnist for The Budgie Bay Gazette. He knows they are meant to be and he wants to keep her even if she thinks it’s too fast.

The ending was not what I expected and we are left in suspense for their HEA as Goldie may have to face a life changing event alone when Amos for the crab season. This was the beginning of their love story and they’re just getting started so hopefully in the next book, A Place To Land, we will find out what happens.

❤️ | Short, cozy contemporary romance
✨ | ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book is a prequel to the “Budgie Bay series”. It is short, COZY, and SWEET. No drama or whatsoever. Reading this book was like being wrapped in a cozy, soft blanket and never wanting to let go.

Goldie (FMC), carrying grief came to Budgie Bay looking for a new start. She’s sweet, caring, and loves birds 🐦😍. And rescues them too 🥹😍.

Amos (MMC), the golden retriever hero, fell in love with Goldie the first time he saw her. The guy literally bought all birds from the festival just for Goldie, and built her an aviary at his home🥰🥰.

The ending of this book was PERFECT. SWEET 💖💖. If you love a short, romantic, and sweet book then “Home to Me” is the perfect read. Can’t wait to read the series😍😍.

The tropes you will find in this book:
