She was the last woman I should have wanted. And the only woman I couldn’t let go.
Two years ago, Charlotte Massey destroyed my life and career with a single story. I rebuilt myself from the wreckage—harder, colder, and closed off to everything but work. Then I was handed a protection assignment, and I opened the file to find her face staring back at me. The woman I’d once trusted. The woman I’d once taken to The Players Club and lost myself inside. The woman who ruined me, in more ways than one.
Now she was my client. An investigative reporter who’d gotten too close to a powerful and dangerous businessman and now had a target on her back to prove it. Every instinct told me to let someone else handle her case, but the moment I saw her again—defiant, fearless, and impossibly beautiful—the anger flooding my veins mixed with something far more dangerous. Desire. Raw, consuming, and completely inconvenient. I still craved her, and I’d destroy anyone who tried to hurt her.
Forced into close proximity in a remote safe house, the tension between us became unbearable as we fought an attraction that refused to die. Her stubbornness infuriated me. Her vulnerability broke through defenses I thought were impenetrable. And somewhere between guarding her body and guarding my heart, the lines completely blurred.
When the enemy abducted her, I shattered every law to bring her home. What we uncovered along the way exposed a criminal empire, devastating corruption, and a family betrayal that nearly destroyed me all over again, making me realize that the woman I blamed for my downfall might be the only one capable of saving me.
Playing with a Scandal is a high-heat bodyguard romance filled with second-chance tension, dominant protector energy, emotional scars, and a man who would burn down a criminal empire before he let the woman he loves slip though his fingers again.
Kane and Charlotte’s history gave the story so much tension right from the start, and I loved how messy and emotional their reunion felt. The forced proximity worked so well here because every interaction between them carried years of anger, attraction, and unresolved feelings. I was instantly invested in seeing how they were going to move past everything that happened between them.
Kane definitely had that overprotective, possessive energy, but what made him work for me was how much hurt he was carrying underneath it all. And Charlotte never backed down, which made their dynamic even stronger. Their chemistry was intense from beginning to end, and while the spice was great, I honestly enjoyed the emotional push and pull between them even more.
The suspense storyline also kept things moving without taking over the romance. The secrets, danger, and twists added just enough excitement to keep me hooked, and I really liked watching Kane slowly realize Charlotte was never trying to destroy him.
This was dramatic, emotional, and addictive in a way that made it very easy to binge.

Huge thank you to Erika Wilde & The Author Agency for the ARC! 😍 All my bookish thoughts are completely my own. ✨
Playing with a Scandal by Erika Wilde absolutely consumed me from beginning to end ❤️🔥 This book delivered everything I love in a romantic suspense: explosive chemistry, emotional angst, second-chance tension, forced proximity, danger, betrayal, & a protective alpha MMC who would burn the entire world down for the woman he loves. From the very first chapter, the tension between Kane & Charlotte was intense, emotional, messy, & completely addictive. I genuinely devoured this book in one sitting because once it pulled me in, there was absolutely no putting it down.
Kane Adair 😮💨🔥 Whew. This man was EVERYTHING. Former detective turned security specialist after his career & reputation were destroyed by Charlotte’s corruption exposé, Kane is angry, emotionally scarred, protective, possessive, & still deeply obsessed with the woman who ruined his life. Two years earlier, Kane & Charlotte shared an unforgettable connection after meeting at The Players Club, where the chemistry between them was immediate & impossible to ignore. They were just beginning to explore something real together when Charlotte’s investigation implicated Kane in a corruption scandal that destroyed everything he had: his career, his brothers in blue, his reputation, & even his relationship with his own family.
Now years later, Kane is assigned to protect Charlotte after her latest investigation makes her the target of dangerous people who want her silenced. The last person he ever expected to protect was the woman he blames for destroying his life. But despite all the anger, resentment, & betrayal still simmering between them, the chemistry never disappeared. If anything, it became even more intense 🔥 Every interaction between them was packed with unresolved feelings, attraction, tension, & emotional pain.
Charlotte Massey was such a strong & fearless FMC ❤️ She’s determined, stubborn, intelligent, & willing to risk everything to uncover the truth no matter how dangerous things become. Even after realizing the damage her original story caused Kane, she never came across as weak or helpless. I loved how resilient she was throughout the story while still carrying guilt, emotional vulnerability, & unresolved feelings for Kane underneath it all. Charlotte & Kane both hurt each other deeply in the past, but watching them slowly work through the betrayal & emotional scars made their relationship feel even more powerful.
The forced proximity in the safe house? ABSOLUTE PERFECTION 😮💨❤️🔥 The tension between them became almost unbearable once they were trapped together again. Every argument, every lingering look, every emotional confrontation felt charged with years of unresolved chemistry & heartbreak. Kane acts cold, angry, & detached, but underneath all of that he still cares about Charlotte’s safety more than anything. The way this man would literally destroy anyone who threatened her had me feral.
And the chemistry? WOW 🔥 Erika Wilde seriously knows how to write emotional tension & scorching spice. Kane & Charlotte’s connection was explosive from beginning to end, & the emotional buildup made every intimate scene hit even harder. Their push-and-pull dynamic, hate-fueled attraction, emotional vulnerability, & lingering obsession made them impossible not to root for. The Players Club scenes were incredibly hot, but honestly the emotional tension between them outside of those scenes was just as addictive.
I also loved the suspense plot woven throughout the story. Between corruption, dangerous investigations, betrayal, family conflict, kidnappings, shocking reveals, & a criminal empire operating behind the scenes, there was constantly something happening to keep the story intense & exciting. The suspense never overshadowed the romance either, instead it elevated the emotional stakes between Kane & Charlotte even more.
What made this story truly unforgettable though was the emotional healing ❤️ Watching Kane slowly realize Charlotte was never truly his enemy hurt SO good. Both characters had to confront their pain, let go of anger, rebuild trust, & allow themselves to finally fight for the future they should have had years ago. Their emotional journey felt messy, complicated, passionate, & incredibly rewarding by the end.
Overall, Playing with a Scandal was emotional, suspenseful, scorching hot, & completely addictive 📖🔥 If you love second-chance romance, bodyguard romance, forced proximity, protective alpha heroes, emotional angst, romantic suspense, explosive chemistry, safe house tension, & “touch her and die” energy, this book absolutely deserves a spot at the top of your TBR ❤️🔥
Kane lost everything when Charlotte published her inflammatory story. Now a few years later, no longer a cop, Kane's working as an independent security agent when his latest charge is none other than the woman who cost him everything. Now that they're in the same orbit again, he just may be able to get some answers from her. Maybe some closure. And maybe a whole lot more...
Second chance, suspense, and delicious chemistry - I can always count on Erika for an emotionally complex, heartfelt love story. Kane and Charlotte's second chance is painful at times, but worth all the pain in the end when they surmount all their obstacles and cement the love that was just beginning back when it all fell apart.

Journalist Charlotte Massey and Detective Kane Adair shared a couple of passionate fueled evenings together at The Player’s Club and had made a date to get to know each other better outside the club, when Charlotte’s story on police corruption broke and destroyed Kane’s career. Named as one of the dirty cops, Kane lost not just his job, but his brothers in blue, his good name, and the will to fight for the truth to come out. Not even his own brother, Kohen, who also became a cop, would have anything to do with him. But then again, Kohen had been competing with him since he was born and probably saw this as his way to get ahead.
Here it is two years later, and Kane is summoned to the offices of Nobles and Associates, where he had been hired as a consultant for his expertise. Sutton, the boss, had read everything about the case and didn’t think Kane had anything to do with it, which is why he was brought on board and in when needed. Sutton periodically reminds him there’s a permanent position waiting for him if he changes his mind. Kane is read in on his new protection detail. There’s a journalist who’s about to break a story that has already cost a young woman her life. She’s being targeted and needs protection, since she refuses to lie low.
Charlotte never thought she’d see Kane again, when he walked into the conference room, alongside Sutton. And from the look on his face, she knew he wasn’t happy to see her. Charlotte didn’t see that she had any choice when Kane’s name surfaced in the reports on the corruption but to include it in her story. She wasn’t sure how she could have been so wrong about someone, especially with the feelings that were just starting to blossom back then. And now here she is, two years later, needing his protection.
Kane tries to make it as business as possible. But before long, Charlotte starts getting under his skin and he just must know why she didn’t come to him with her questions before ruining his life. Not that Kane had any answers, aside from that he wasn’t involved. As they settle things between them, the feelings that have been kept at bay surface. One round of hate $#% isn’t enough to satisfy either one of them. Kane brings them to The Player’s Club, which is one of the safest places in Vegas for a night that they should have shared years ago. And from here, the story gets wild and I’m not about to ruin it for you.
Erika Wilde knows how to weave an intense story full of passion, intrigue, suspense and some of the hottest $#% I’ve ever read in the pages of a book. The book brings a few of my favorite genres together: second chance romance, protective alpha, forced proximity, and emotional angst. You know that when you pick up one of her books, that you are in for the ride of your life. I can’t wait to read whosever story is next, because I know it’s going to be a good read.
I am still entirely flushed from all the sizzle in this book, so please bear with me while I try to put my coherent thoughts together. 😜
Seriously, Erika Wilde did not hold back with Playing with a Scandal. I went into this expecting a fun bodyguard romance, but I ended up devouring this in one sitting because the physical chemistry between Kane and Charlotte is unreal.
They have this really messy, tense history… Two years ago, an article Charlotte published shattered Kane’s life and career, leaving him incredibly bitter and hardened. Now she is in danger, and he is the protective, angry security guard assigned to keep her safe.
When they get stuck together in a remote safe house, the forced proximity is everything you want it to be. The unresolved anger and the sheer attraction between them are so thick that it practically jumps off the page. Erika Wilde knows exactly how to build that heavy, frustrating sexual tension where they are trying desperately to stay professional but just cannot keep their hands off each other.
What I loved most is that Charlotte never acts like a weak damsel in distress; she has so much backbone, which just makes the push-and-pull between them even hotter. And when they do stop fighting it, the spicy scenes are incredibly intense, especially when they return to The Players Club. But honestly, even the quiet, vulnerable moments where they start rebuilding trust hit just as hard. There is a suspense plot with some massive twists that kept me flipping pages like crazy, though the romance definitely stays front and center. My only tiny complaint is that the very ending felt a little quick, but the emotional payoff and the heat more than made up for it.
If you are looking for a romantic suspense that is completely addictive, emotionally heavy, and packed with some top-tier spice that will keep you up way past your bedtime, you definitely need to grab this one.
***Thank you to Erika Wilde and The Author Agency for providing an advance reader copy. All thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.***
• 𝐓𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐬 - - second chance romance - bodyguard romance - forced proximity - BDSM club romance - protective alpha hero - investigative reporter FMC - emotional angst - touch Her And Die - who hurt you - forced to work together - enemies to lovers romance - hate f*cking
• 𝐌𝐲 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 - Kane and Charlotte’s story was intense, emotional, messy, and sooo addictive 😭 Charlotte’s investigation destroyed Kane’s career and reputation after he got framed in a huge corruption scandal. Kane lost everything and blamed Charlotte for ruining his life. Then 2 years later he gets assigned as her bodyguard when dangerous people start targeting her because of another investigation. The tension between them was INSANE. They hated each other, wanted each other, and still couldn’t stay away. The forced proximity scenes at the safe house had me obsessed because every interaction felt emotional and full of unresolved feelings. Kane was such a protective and possessive MMC. The way this man would literally destroy anyone for Charlotte made me feral. He acted cold and angry but still cared about her safety more than anything. Charlotte was also strong and fearless. I loved that she never felt weak even after everything she went through. She kept fighting for the truth no matter how dangerous things became. The Players Club scenes were HOTTT 🌶️ The chemistry between them was explosive from the start and all the emotional tension made the spicy scenes even better. Their connection felt intense in every chapter. I also loved the suspense plot because there were betrayals, corruption, secrets, kidnappings, and shocking reveals that kept the story exciting till the end. The emotional healing in this book was honestly one of my favorite parts. Watching Kane slowly realize Charlotte was never truly his enemy hurt so good. So excited for next book!! Thank you the author agency for the ARC!
Thank you Erika and the Author Agency for this ARC.
This book 4 in the Players Club Sinners series and this one may be my favorite of the series. All the books have been good but I think I was missing this suspense storyline.
What happens when the person you met at the adults only club turns your world upside down in more ways than one? Charlotte and Kane spent two unforgettable nights together at the club and felt a connection they couldn’t explain. They planned to meet up again, but everything changed. Charlotte discovered Kane’s name, along with several others, on documents tied to stolen police evidence and wrote exposés about it. In the blink of an eye, Kane’s life and career were destroyed by accusations that weren’t even true.
Now, two years later, Kane finds himself standing in front of his newest client: Charlotte. She’s in too deep with her latest assignment and refuses to walk away after one of her informants is found dead. Dangerous secrets are coming to light, and Kane will do anything to keep her safe. But with unresolved history still hanging between them, can they learn to trust each other again? And will Kane be able to protect both Charlotte and his heart? We watch as Kane helps her with her story with Charlotte realizing maybe she was wrong about Kane in the beginning. With two storyline lines emerging, you will be on a ride.
The tension between Kane and Charlotte is intense in the best way. The chemistry absolutely burns off the page and the pull between them is gripping from start to finish. The spice hits hard here and I loved every second of it. Plus, if you want to make this man beg… just play poker. HEHE.
From the beginning PLAYING WITH A SCANDAL sizzled with both chemistry and heat. This enemies to lovers, forced proximity, second chance romance was emotional, tension filled, and suspenseful. An addictive story which I devoured in one sitting.
Kane Adair and Charlotte Massey shared one sizzling hook up at Players, an exclusive club, their chemistry is instant and they both desire more. Kane is a detective with the Las Vegas PD, Charlotte is an investigative journalist, and her research turns up incriminating evidence against Kane. Kane's life is upended by Charlotte's article, and even worse is no one believes he's innocent.
Two years passes and Kane is now working in security. He has been contacted for a job providing protection for one of their clients, who just happens to be Charlotte. She's desperate as her current investigation has become more dangerous than she thought. The last person she expects to be her protector is Kane. He's not happy about the situation either, but it's not long before his desires for Charlotte re-emerge and protecting her becomes his main priority.
PLAYING WITH A SCANDAL was a tension filled, riveting read from beginning to end. The push and pull between Kane and Charlotte was sublime and their spice was red hot. The suspense was built superbly throughout the story and my jaw dropped when the truth was revealed. Kade and Charlotte are my new favourite couple from this series. It is definitely an unmissable read. Don't forget to download the NSFW bonus ... it's certainly panty melting!
Kane and Charlotte’s story is gripping and addictive. These two have a history that sets them at odds with each other. He blames her for ruining his law enforcement career and the aftermath that followed her tell all article. Despite their very steamy past encounters, she believes he was just another corrupt cop. She never expected to see Kane again or to have to rely on him for protection when the story she is currently working on becomes dangerous and deadly. The tension between them is palpable, but so are the sparks. Neither can forget those steamy encounters, or the feelings they inspired before her story blew it all up.
Kane is determined to do his job, keep things professional and protect the unrepentant and thoroughly irritating woman who blew up his life. He is going to bury his still intense attraction to her, shut out the very intimate memories and keep his guards up. The close proximity makes all of that impossible as the sparks between them combust and their searing chemistry takes over. They rehash the past and realize that not all was as it seemed. They uncover some startling information including a betrayal that shocks them both. They never truly hated each other, and now they are set on finding the truth and bringing it to light. Keeping them both safe proves to be difficult, and both want this situation resolved so they can move on to more important things, like building a future together.
This intense and suspenseful book is a thrilling and spicy read. I am happy to recommend it.
Charlotte and Kane were great together. They had just decided to take things to the next level when one article broke them apart. Kane lost his job, his “friends” and the girl. It was the girl that wrote the story that hurt the most. Charlotte couldn’t believe that Kane was corrupt but she went with her gut. Fast forward two years. Charlotte’s source for the new exposé was going to put Calloway in jail, was dead. She is now the next target. She needs someone to protect her till she can find another path to make the allegations stick. Noble and Associates is the best. Sutton brings Kane in for this case. Sparks fly when these to meet up again. An anger and hurt that still plagues Kane. He’ll do the job but she has to do as he says.
I have to say, I was shocked when I read that Charlotte posted the article. Why didn’t she talk with Kane? That part was what drove me nuts. I could understand Kane’s anger towards her but cutting himself off from making real friends, that broke my heart. The passion is still there with these two. Just being close to each other sets them off. And boy is it still as good as it was in the beginning. When we find out who set Kane up, OMG I was beside myself. At first I thought benefit of the doubt. NOPE, I was shocked and so angry at how that person could do that. I loved that the crew of Noble came together to help Kane. I am looking forward to reading about Austin our smooth charmer.

Playing with a Scandal is the fourth book in the Players Club Sinners series. It can be read as a standalone book.
Kane and Charlotte go from lovers to enemies and back to lovers and more. It turns out that Charlotte is a reporter who broke open a story about Kane and police corruption that ended Kane's police career, even though it was all circumstantial evidence. Now he works for a security company on an as needed basis. His boss contacts Kane to come in and take on a job protecting a local reporter who is investigating a huge human trafficking ring, led by a local philanthropist and real estate tycoon. People have already died and she has a bullseye on her back as the next person going down. When Kane gets the file, he realizes it is Charlotte he is being asked to protect with his life.
This book is a fast-paced page turner that has a lot of surprising twists. Will Kane and Charlotte be able to work together while trying to stay alive and break open the story? Will they learn to work through perceived betrayals? Will they be able to stay far enough of ahead of a national news level of corruption of many people who want the story, and Kane and Charlotte, buried where it can never be found? Enjoy this book and find out!
This gripping story follows journalist Charlotte Massey and Detective Kane Adair, whose passionate connection is shattered when Charlotte’s explosive story on police corruption destroys Kane’s career. Years later, their reunion is tense, with Kane harboring resentment for the role Charlotte played in his downfall, while Charlotte struggles with guilt and unresolved feelings.
The story masterfully blends second-chance romance, protective alpha, forced proximity, and emotional angst, creating a rollercoaster of passion, suspense, and intrigue. Kane and Charlotte’s dynamic evolves from icy professionalism to rekindled desire, highlighted by their shared past and the backdrop of The Player’s Club, a symbol of what could have been.
This was a quick, fun, and engaging read for us, filled with lovable characters, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Kane and Charlotte's chemistry was off the charts hot, and their connection was undeniable. Kane was found to be a swoony character, and Charlotte was a determined truth seeker, determined to change the world. We love her passion for the truth.
The story keeps us glued to the pages the entire time we polished this one off in one sitting. A bodyguard romance filled with pure fire that was emotionally intense.
Great second chance story Kane and Charlotte have a very messy history that really makes this story interesting. They met 2 years earlier at the Player's Club and really hit it off on their two scenes together. They were making plans to meet outside of the club to see if this attraction could work outside of the club. Unfortunately, they never got the chance to do that as Kane was accused of doing something that got him kicked off the police force and Charlotte was responsible for it. Now fast forward 2 years and and Charlotte is in deep trouble with another story that she is writing and needs a bodyguard. Enter Kane, and boy was it a surprise for both of them to see each other. From here the story really gets interesting. These two were so combustible together! Charlotte is still a very strong willed woman determined to write her story while Kane is still an overprotective alpha male who won't let anything happen to her. The suspense in this story was very entertaining and I loved how the whole team came together to help Kane and Charlotte. This was just what Kane needed in his life after the devasting blow he receives when Charlotte is kidnapped. This is a great story and sure to entertain you from the first page to the very end.
Playing with a Scandal is the fourth story in the Players Club Sinners series. It is well-written and a romantic suspense.
Kane and Charlotte have a past. They shared a few nights together at The Player's Club and also got to know each other away from the club. She is a journalist who published her story on cops and he lost everything. Now he is working as a security agent and no longer a cop. She needs his help since she has become a target with a story she is working on. He is hired as her protection.
Charlotte had no idea she would ever see Kane again. She had no choice when his name came up in her story before. She was so wrong about him and now they have to work together. He wants to know why she didn't talk to him before the story was publicized. Once their past is settled they still have feelings for each other. They go back to The Player's Club and share a night together. What will happen to their relationship?
I loved how Charlotte was such a strong person who wanted to deliver the stories. I loved how Kane was so protective of her and how their feelings could not be denied. Their story is steamy and so full of emotions. I look forward to the next story from this very talented author.
Playing with a Scandal is a romantic suspense about betrayal and second chances. The book starts off with a teaser of how the two main characters meet and how intense their encounters can be as the story develops. Kane and Charlotte both feel betrayed by the other and that is the height of their issues. While Charlotte is writing another one of her investigative stories someone close to the story is murdered and that puts her in danger. Kane becomes the protector Charlotte doesn’t want but she needs. While being with each other every day causes tension to rise there is also danger lurking on the periphery. I like the story of suspense, second chances and the way the story gave us a backstory before getting into the meat of it. Charlotte is bold, stubborn and very opinionated. Kane is alpha male, head strong, silent and calculating, which makes him a great protector. The characters were both headstrong, which took away from the story a bit for me but eventually they got it together. Playing with a Scandal plays with your senses and tantalizes with every page you read. If you like some danger with your romance and a lot of spice with your romance then this is the book for you.

Playing with a Scandal by Erika Wilde is coming your way and it is bringing ALL the tension, heat, and second chance chaos you are not emotionally prepared for.
She ruined his life once. Now he has to protect her. And Kane does not do anything halfway… especially not obsession.
Charlotte Massey is not the same woman he used to know and Kane is not the man who can stay away from her. Add in forced proximity, dangerous secrets, and a safe house that is way too small for this much unresolved history and you have pure romantic suspense fire.
💥 High tension 🛡️ Bodyguard protection duty gone very wrong 🔥 Chemistry that never died 💣 A past that refuses to stay buried
Playing with a Scandal by Erika Wilde Players Club Sinners book 4
Kane and Charlottes story starts with an intense few nights at the Players Club. Both realizing they want to explore having a real relationship together. But life never goes according to plan. Between betrayal and heart break these 2 never got to figure out what could be. Charlotte a now well known journalist stumbles upon something she shouldn’t have and she’s building a story. But someone doesn’t want that to happen and now her life is in danger. After being betrayed and losing everything Kane is just a broken man and cannot let it his past go. When tasked with keeping a journalist safe he never imagined it would be the person that he could have fallen in love with but instead she ruined his life. These 2 have the hottest chemistry and that’s what brings them together again. The truth comes to light and both of them leaning on each other to build that forever. Another delicious addition to this series 🥵
Returning to the Players Club is always a great time and this is no exception! We finally get Kanes stoey and what actually happened to him while he was on the police force and it was not what I expected. The truth comes out!
Charlotte and Kane had a connection before the whole scandal of Kane losing his job with the police force but after that they had a falling out, until two years later their paths crossed again and this time it was Charlotte you needed protection and the help from Kane and his coworkers.
The sparks were still flying, maybe even hotter than before. But will the danger that is looming over Charlotte be too much or wil Kane be too late to save the women he loves? Will he figure out what actually happened to get him fired from the police force and who framed him?
There was so much action, drama, heat, and spice in this addition to the Players Club series. It kept me entertained and wanting to keep reading until I found out who was responsible for it all.
This is the fourth book in this impressive series, and this is Charlotte’s and Kane’s story. Charlotte is a stubborn, investigative reporter, and Kane is an ex-police officer. A few years previously Charlotte destroyed Kane’s life and career with a story, and having rebuilt his life, he is colder, harder, and closes off to everything. When Charlotte’s informant is killed, she knows she has a target on her back, due to a dangerous and powerful businessman, and she will be next. Kane is assigned to become Charlotte’s bodyguard, and he is determined to protect and keep her safe by any means. This is a well written easy to read story, which has family, friendships, emotions, tension, betrayal, enemies / lovers, forced proximity, trust, humour, witty banter, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
Oh, My! Wow! This is book 4 in the Players Club Sinners series and features Kane and Charlotte. Wow, did this story start off so hot and it just kept getting better. I absolutely loved every minute of reading Kane and Charlotte’s story. The way they met, then the fallout afterwards had them not reconnecting as they had planned to. But when Charlotte is in need of protection 2 years later Kane steps in and takes the job. There was spice, suspense, danger, betrayal and hurt plus so much more to keep me intrigued and happily reading along. The twists, turns and the outcome were perfectly handled in this story. I loved the storyline and especially all of the characters. Such an amazing story and series. Thank you Erika Wilde and The Author Agency for the opportunity to read this story.
My first Erika Wilde read & definitely a new-to-me author alert ⚠️
This story combines so many of my favorite tropes, and when you add in the chemistry between Kane & Charlotte… I was hooked.
From their very first meeting to Kane wanting to protect Charlotte after she completely turned his world upside down two years earlier, the suspense, tension, and spice were all perfectly executed.
I devoured this book and could not put it down. The banter, the steam, the protective MMC energy — all of it just worked for me.
If you love romantic suspense with sizzling chemistry, emotional tension, and a hero who falls hard, this one is absolutely worth picking up.

I started reading this book and immediately disliked Charlotte. I was sure there was no way Erika Wilde could make me change my mind. But little by little i began softening up to her and by the end of the story I was rooting for them to find their way back to each other.
Kane is as bossy as they come. Charlotte did a number on him with her story and he hasn't been the same since. When they meet again he tries (and fails) to convince himself he can do his job with out feelings getting involved. But being together in a small space proves to be too much for them and when they finally talk about what happened two years ago, staying away is not an option. And when danger comes knocking - Kane will stop at nothing to get to her and keep her by his side forever.

Another Players book done. I am absolutely in love with all these men. The way that they take care of their women is just so 🥵🥵🥵
And Kane and Charlotte!!!!! Since the first day, i couldn't help but keep smiling and giggling, kicking my feet just waiting for them to go on that first date before everything happened. They definitely deserved every ounce of happiness they got in the end.
And Charlotte. That woman is so empowering. She is so brave and just amazing. I love how she helped Kane find who he was again, and in return she ended up helping herself as well. They just fit so good together, they fit like missing puzzle pieces 🥹🥹
It was good to see the others 😏😏 Especially Tate and Stella😫 MY FABORITE COUPLE IN THE SERIES!!!!
This is why I love reading Erika Wilde. The passion, suspense and some of the hottest spice ever. This book has some of my favorite tropes and scenes. Second Chance romance, Lovers to Enemies to Lovers, Forced Proximity with a protective MMC, Shibari and Rigging and plenty of Suspense woven through the romance. The emotional angst between Charlotte and Kane was high in this book along with the intense sexual attraction. Both Charlotte and Kane have trust issues and their emotional growth throughout this book is truly the best part. The spicy scenes were spectacular and I loved how it showcased suspension rigging scenes. This is an emotional story of betrayal, redemption, forgiveness and love. If you love reading about second chances, protective alpha heroes, romantic suspense and explosive chemistry, then this book is for you. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
I love this series so much! Damsel in distress and a hot bodyguard is my favorite trope at the moment. It feels like I’m reliving my childhood, and I honestly can’t get enough of it!
Playing with a Scandal has everything you could want in a steamy romance: lovers to enemies to lovers again, forced proximity, a sex club, danger, angst, abduction, and a broken yet fiercely protective hero who would burn down the entire city just to find her. The angst and plot twists had me completely hooked and unable to stop reading. I loved every single second of this book!
The tension between Kane and Charlotte is incredible, and it makes the spice in this book unbelievably hot. I genuinely wished this book would never end!
Kane and Charlotte are two complex characters that have had to deal with some hard lessons to learn. Their attraction and compatibility shines right through those lessons and the need for peace, understanding and off the charts sex that only happens when they are together paramount.
The writing is excellent. Between the descriptive playroom scenes, the emotional tug of war both Kane and Charlotte experience and the intensity of their situation you will be spellbound from the first page. It is a lesson in loyalty, family, redemption and happily ever after. I highly recommend this book for the passion, the justice and the heart.

Playing with a scandal is the latest instalment of the Players club sinners series . It centres on Kane and Charlotte. 2 years after being wrongfully accused of corruption as a police officer, Kane is now a bodyguard and is startled to discover he has to protect the reporter who outed the corruption. Charlotte is also Kane’s former scene partner at the players club. Their sexual attraction is still palpable and find it hard to deny. Kane soon realizes he has to protect Charlotte as well as his heart. Playing with a Scandal is a terrific addition to the series. It has steam and thrills and a fabulous plot. The characters are very likeable and the book is well written. Five stars
This book was hard to put down, and I didn't until I finished. It's a high charged bodyguard romance filled with suspense, intrigue, danger, and enough chemistry between the couples to heat up the pages. Kane's career was destroyed by Charlotte two years ago. They shared a steamy history until Charlotte destroyed it all. Kane now has accepted an assignment to be her bodyguard because she is in danger. The attraction between the couple has not dimmed, but it has gotten stronger. The plot and twists had me hooked from beginning to end. I enjoyed reading this book and it was definitely worth reading.
I devoured this book in one sitting. Absolutely loved every bit of this story. There's even a twist that I really didn't see coming but it's so good and it makes things make sense. I liked the pacing, the buildup, and the details in this. The characters Charlotte and Kane were utterly perfect. Loved seeing these two get their HEA but not without some work. A second chance romance that is beautifully written. And an addictive page turner that I recommend reading. Thank you to the author agency and the author for a copy of this.
