Godzilla continues its USA sight-smashing tour! Next Portland. Specifically, Portland, Oregon! (You’re safe, Maine…for now.) Rising out of the fog of the Pacific Northwest, Godzilla is about to turn Stumptown into Stomptown. Oregon? More like Ore-gone. Rip City? More like…actually, that one already works. Join a star-studded cast of Portland-based comic book creators, including Mark Russell ( Space Age, Fantastic Life Story), Caitlin Yarsky (Black Reborn, Wonder Woman), and many more! You’re going to be less concerned with keeping Portland weird and more worried about keeping Portland standing when Godzilla comes to visit.
Another city, another set of varying stories. The artwork in the third story was really nice. Having visited Portland before, it was a lot of fun to find the references throughout.
The City of Roses is about to be flattened by a prehistoric, radioactive, fire-breathing dinosaur in IDW's latest installment of Godzilla vs. America.
How will the good folks of Portland, Oregon, cope when they're distracted by therapy llamas, bagpipers on unicycles, and a mysterious video game with mind-bending powers?!?!??!
3.5 Loved this! A solid entry into the Godzilla vs America series! I really enjoyed all of the stories. Godzilla vs. Sasquatch? Awesome! Dog Day Afternoon? Funny and insightful! High Score? Loved it! Under Siege in the 503? Cute!
All of the stories were really engaging and told a complete story in such short pages. I just really liked all of the stories. Excited for San Diego next!
Godzilla vs. America: Godzilla vs. Portland was a blast, easily one of the most Portland things I’ve ever read. The comic leans fully into the city’s culture, landmarks, and quirks, which made it feel both authentic and playful. Not long after finishing it, I visited Portland myself, and I couldn’t help but picture Godzilla stomping through the streets. The illustrations made those scenes come alive in my head, turning the whole experience into something unexpectedly immersive. Just a fun, creative entry in the series.
