Tracy Sharp grew up in a small mining town in Northern Ontario, Canada, where there wasn't much for her to do except dress warmly and write spooky stories to scare herself silly.
Oh my goodness! This is non-stop panic, heartache, horror and terror. The invading aliens have found a way to turn humans against each other - starting with the youngest. All the vanished children return - but they are not human anymore! They are hunting and killing their loved ones. The dead adults rise up, zombie-like, with ravenous appetites for the living. The scattered few are having a very hard time surviving. An edge of your seat, nail biting page turner! I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I thought this had a unique plot and was full of action but one thing really bothered me. The main character, Zoe, told another character she did not eat meat. Kind of made a big deal about it. But then she ate fried chicken, bacon (and talked about how much she loved bacon), chicken soup, and a turkey sandwich. I am not sure what meat she doesn't eat but usually bacon, chicken, and turkey are meat. Even if she ate poultry, she still probably wouldn't eat bacon since it comes from a mammal. I don't know if the author forgot her character was vegetarian or what but the plot hole was big enough to make me feel like I might be missing something else huge in the story.
This review is on Intruders: The Invasion (Book 1) by Tracy Sharp. This is the first book I have read by this author.
This story is scary and thrilling at the same time. It’s promoted as A Post-Apocalyptic, Alien Invasion Thriller. Once you start reading, you have to keep going to see what happens next.
It starts out with signs the world was ending with babies and young people disappearing all over the world. It gets personal when the main character Zoe’s two year old niece named Jessica disappears while Zoe was babysitting. Of course, the police think Zoe was involved, which only made matters worse for Zoe.
While Zoe is trying to figure out what happened to Jessica, a meteorite crashes nearby almost killing her. Meteorites were landing all over the world causing all kinds of destruction. Crazy things began to happen. People started acting insane and attacking others for no reason. They behaved like dead zombies. It was blamed on the meteorite dust that covered the Earth.
The story twists and turns even more as Zoe fights to stay alive and finds others in similar situations. Aliens appear out of nowhere and start attacking any humans left alive. No one knew where they came from except they lived underground. The aliens looked like ugly lizards with sharp teeth. Zoe is convinced she is about to die.
I give this book Five Stars because the story is original, entertaining and fast paced. The plot is interesting and the characters are well developed. The writing and dialogue are excellent. I look forward to reading the next book in the series by this author.
Keep reading good science fiction and let me know when you find an interesting novel or author.

That did not change my opinion for this review. I gave it four stars.
"The world changed overnight...and now there is nowhere to run...The abductions were the first sign of the invasion. Thousands of small children vanished from their beds. Meteorites hit next, choking the air with mysterious dust that had a strange effect on the dead."
Mmm mmm my favourite kind of book. Sends shivers down the spine and makes those odd night time noises sound really really scary. This would be just about the best alien invasion ever! Intruders is the first thing I’ve read by this author and already I’m a fan. There is just nicely enough description to be jaw dropping. Blood and guts and human relationships, and dog ones, Zoe is battling for her life against lizards and deader. What a combination! Read this book late at night. It’ll be worth it!!
While the plot line is definitely unique and the pacing worked well, I still felt the writing was amateurish. The main character reacted oddly to situations that I felt would've denoted a different response no matter who you are. If the sequels are free or reduced pricing, I may read them.
THE PAGES OF THIS AUTHOR'S BOOK ☝IS SO WELL WRITTEN!😍GET IT!
WOOHOO! 😊😀😍! THIS BOOK IS A CLIFFHANGER!! I VERY MUCH DISLIKE A BOOKS 📚 WITHOUT AN ENDING!😇🤐😣😑😐🤔😶😮 I HAVE READ MANY MANY BOOKS 📚! I DO NOT USUALLY RECOMMEND AN AUTHOR THAT HAS NO ENDING! THIS BOOK THOUGH I ENJOYED VERY MUCH!😍. ENOUGH TO RECOMMEND IT! BUY THIS BOOK NOW!😍😊
I think I held my breath through this whole book. So much fear so much unknown things in the dark. And we have the dead walking around and kill those to weak to survive this is a have to read. But hold on to your britches.
So far this series is good. Not heart wrenching and gripping as some of the other post apocalyptic books I have read but still good and solid in its writing.
I love stories with aliens, good or bad, so of course this caught my attention. Intruders mixes aliens and zombies. Yet, even after finishing the first book, I'm not sure if the two are related or just a very bad coincidence for the humans. To be honest, I think at first the author had planned to make it part of the invasion, but later on, after some light is shed about the insect like invaders, the whole idea kind of fell through. I'm not going to say more because I don't want to give out spoilers.
The idea of having both zombies and aliens is original. One might even say unique. Overall, I liked it. While there might be some little oopsies here and there, such stepping outside in the grass when it's been snowing for days, it's nothing that deterred me from enjoying the story.
The book should appeal to lovers of zombie apocalypse, alien invasion, and horror. While the whole point of the story isn't centered about the horror, I wasn't able to stop thinking about how horrific it would be, not only to have to face hordes of zombies, but also to have to check where you walk for holes in the ground where the insect like invaders live.
When the topic of zombie apocalypse comes up, I usually joke around saying that I'm not interested in surviving, that I'll be one of the first infected and just get it over with. Funny enough, Zoe thinks the same way, but as soon as the zombies come out, she runs and fights for her life!
The troubles begin when a meteor hits the city, then her niece vanishes, Zoe was the initial suspect, until the same thing happened to all the babies and kids. Before anyone can come to grips and understand what happened, the zombies come into the scene....and finally the aliens.
The story itself is like a combination of all the popular aliens and zombie movies. What made it spooky for me, is the fact that no matter how well prepared the human race feels, or how many movies we watch, we really won't know how to defend ourselves if this kind of invasion happens.
Very good actions scenes and a solid plot that made me want to read the next installment.
We are not alone on earth. Not even close. We have been invaded.
The book takes place in a world that is under attack. Meteors are crashing into buildings and the meteor dust may be causing people who died to get up and walk the earth looking for their next meal. Enter Zoe, a 17 year old unlikely protagonist. Barely 100 pounds and scared to death. She is forced to face some of her biggest fears and she starts to realize what is going on in the world. Kids are disappearing and returning... but different. Then zombies attack, then other things attack. In this fast-paced novel from the viewpoint of a 17 year old girl you will be left feeling powerful and helpless depending on the scene.

Though this is my first alien apocalypse story, it surely won't be the last if they're written as well as this. Aliens and zombies in one single book was certainly unexpected, but what a great group of characters! It's hard to surprise me but this one dragged me in and kept me there literally until the last page was turned. I Hope for a follow-up asap!
Storyline is refreshingly different which I liked a lot. What kind of spoiled it for me was the need for proofreading. I am a detail freak so it drove me crazy when there were so many details that didn't match up. Then there were the transcription errors. If you can overlook all that it IS a pretty good story.
A new and very interesting apocalyptic tale! I really enjoyed everything about the story. Zombies and horrific aliens. What more could you ask for! Hope there will be a sequel.
Aliens & zombies! Good deal! I really enjoyed this book...definitely different from most zombie books. The story is nicely woven together with a good definition of the characters. Zoe is tough...all I want to know is Will there be another? Hope so...
I was very happy with this until the main character encountered other survivors. The plot went implausible from there. I like far-fetched technology and un-earthly beings, but you still kind of need a logical sequence of events and scenarios for those to function in.
Interesting----this book is a cross of the "walking dead" invasion of the body snatchers, and lizards, with a lot of action thrown in as well....Getting ready to start book two The Awakening".....Bring it on!
I was disappointed by the ending -explained in the remarks
I knew this was the first in a series which I usually don't bother reading. Most series have a quasi ending that offers at least some closure. That is not the case here. I felt like I stepped off a cliff when I came to the end.
This is a YA post apocalyptic book. The story and writing are good enough if there had been more substance in this first book. So, if you like this genre I say go for it. Me, I will stop while the getting is good.
