She is ruthless. She is scorned.
And her blood?
The darkest shade of blue.

To punish a possible rebel, Queen Aravena forms a devious plan. She orders the guilty merchant to bring the best warrior candidate within just one day. But when she meets the man, he's nothing like she expected.

Nathaniel Valendard harbors high moral and higher disregard for the queen despite his common red blood. But he's a warrior candidate who knows nothing about war.

When the merchant is abducted and questions arise, Aravena is determined to find the truth. However, she only has a stubborn Nathaniel with possible answers and neither would give the other an inch.

Will they ever cast aside their differences to find the merchant, or their pride will be the reason for their downfall?

A royal tale of unconditional love, swirling magic, dark conspiracy, and a scarred past of the scorned blue blood that needs to remain buried, no matter the cost.

3.5 stars. I was lucky enough to receive this as an ARC and went in with high hopes..the premise immediately hooked me. For the first half of the book, I was completely invested. The tension between the FMC and MMC was compelling, and the mystery surrounding the FMC kept me turning pages. I also really enjoyed the uniqueness of her magic; it added a fresh and intriguing element to the story.

However, as the plot progressed, it began to feel a bit scattered. Several new elements were introduced without enough development, which made parts of the story confusing and, at times, difficult to follow. That said, the ending clearly sets the stage for book two, so I’m hopeful that the next installment will provide more clarity and expansion on these ideas.

The whole premise of the FMC being the cruel queen who has to restrain herself for the kingdom was exciting. Aravena is a fierce, cunning and smart woman who will stop at nothing in order to save her kingdom. She does not have time for the charming commoner who she suspects to be a spy.

They would never share their feelings...but She would save him from anything and He would dance so passionatly to express himself. This couple is an action over words kinda love.

And the banter and flirting??
"It was comforting to know I wasn't alone down this blushing journey, after all. The invincinle queen could get flustered sometimes too." AAAAA so cute! They are literally made for each other, I beg for character art.

And Valendard is a charmer! Me and Aravena, we were folding over his lines.
"Oh, fear not, Queen. I plan to sweep you off your feet."
But He also had to endure so much, my heart goes out for him. He literally just fell into this royal life full of betrayals and riddles.

This book was also funny. There was a lot of times to giggle.
"It was official. Valendard was going to play jester."

I really appriciate that the cliffhanger at the end wasn't so dramatic that I will go mad until the next book comes out, but because the characters are extremely loveable, and they have a lot to grow emotionally alone and together that I still want to continue reading. My only wish is to see more Valendard Pov yearning, thank you.

And they have pegasi! My inner child is satisfied.
Only issue is a lot of types of magical elemants to the point where I am not sure what does what. Like the velhems, aura and then the blue blood. But I did enjoy these unique parts nonetheless.

This story was healing through magic and love, from the eyes of Aravena and Valendard, who quickly became cherished to me. It is a great reminder to let yourself feel and be vulnerable.
It's about two souls from opposite ranks finding warmth and comfort within each other while we had endless myteries and adventures with them. I had the best time reading!

The series in one quote:
"Queen Aravena of Ravendale, it was time to show them who you truly are..."
And by that, we don't only mean the smart badass woman, but the strong lover girl too.

So I was lucky to get this as an ARC…. Which I was very interested in the idea behind the story as we all love a ruthless and a woman who protects herself.

Our story follows the Queen Aravena who is a very secretive and mysterious woman who you honestly you have no idea what her master plan is. She’s made out to be this really heartless woman by everyone and she keeps that up too, but inside she has secrets and this is all a front to hide away. We are then introduced to Nathaniel who is a sort of warrior who has been made to come to the castle by a merchant who is part of a rebellion, to cover him.

The story follows them pair in multiple povs switching between so we get both perspectives of the story which definitely helps us to get a better insight of both. While they are going through a lot of political drama and underhand schemes that the Queen especially is following.

The Queen is also a blue blood… who’s blood has its own uses but also means they have Velhelms which is 2 parts of her which she can use to do things and spy on people too which is very interesting and really enjoyed that aspect.

The characters and the bond between them watching it grow was interesting and I did enjoy that. And her bond with her grandfather too was sweet. So they do have a lot of likeable characters.

The issue I had was the story was very confusing and we were taken all over the place but a lot kinda happened without much explanation what was actually going on. One that stood out for me was some witches stealing a wolf cub nearly drowned.. she saved it and then just left. Very bizarre and was slightly harder to follow at the start.

While I did enjoy this… there was a few parts that were lacking… the characters and their dynamic however I really enjoyed so I would give this 3.75 stars but I have rounded up for goodreads.

Also the pegasi were adorable and that was a very unique bond in there that I really enjoyed

I was hooked from the start and I frantically enjoyed it. The first half was well developed but the last help, was a little lost. Overall, very good. 💖
