Deze was weer zo leuk! Dit deel was jammer genoeg iets korter dan de vorige en voor mijn gevoel ging het plot ook wat vluchtiger. Toch zou ik deze serie nog steeds dik aanraden! Kan niet wachten op deel 3 :)

Faut voir comme je serais pauvre si Les Normaux avait des produits dérivés parce que je suis ADDICT IL M’EN FAUT PLUS.
C’est vraiment ma bd « hihi hehe » mon havre de douceur et d’inclusivité dans ce monde fasciste et ça me tue que ce soit qu’une seule fois par an (gros soupir dramatique) mais plus sérieusement il me faut la suite.

This was rushed and you can definitely tell. There was a lot of text that wasn't centered in the boxes, an empty text box, and a page flipped upside down that wasn't supposed to be. Even the writing lacked connection. When Elia runs to It seems, also, the author cannot draw characters different from Elia and Sebastian, because even the female characters look pretty much the same (besides the main three girls). Whoever Janssen's agent is, well they clearly are not doing the author courtesy of their job because some sticks need to be set down and repositioned.

I loved this installment just as much as the first one. I adore this diverse cast of characters. Such cute and cozy read.

J’avais entendu beaucoup de bien sur cette BD donc forcément je me suis lancée avec la sortie du deuxième tome ! Et je dois avouer que je ne suis pas déçue.
Je venais pour :
✅ Une ambiance doudou
✅ Une romance Queer
✅ Une vibe Heartstopper
✅ Un univers de fantasy
Et je suis repartie en prime avec :
✅ Des personnages attachants
✅ Des personnages jeunes adultes
Vraiment j’ai pu retrouver ce que j’aime dans Heartstopper mais en me sentant encore plus proche des personnages car ils ont entre 25 et 30 ans donc des préoccupations qui me sont plus proches.
Les deux premiers tomes sont encore assez introductifs mais je suis certaine que je vais vite m’attacher à toute cette bande, à leurs relations amoureuses et amicales et à ce Paris d’un autre monde !
Je venais pour :
✅ Une ambiance doudou

Weer een fantastisch deel in de serie! Ditmaal gaan Sébastien en Elia eindelijk eens praten (al duurt het wel even en er is wat drama) en zeggen ze eindelijk wat ze nou van elkaar vinden (iedereen weet dat al en iedereen wil ze samen hebben). We krijgen best schattige momenten tussen de twee waarbij je gewoon KISSSSSSS gaat steeds also ze samen zijn (echt die twee zijn zo cute). Ik was even bang dat het echt op niks zou uitdraaien en we moesten wachten op het volgende deel maar gelukkig gebeurd er genoeg. Ik kan niet wachten op het volgende deel, ik verwacht veel kusjes en dates.
Ook lezen we over Ronnie en hoe zij steeds op dates gaat maar ook steeds die enorm leuke Drew tegenkomt (wees nou maar eens eerlijk jij deredere). Ik moest lachen om de banter tussen de twee.
En we zien ook Elia's ouders + een goede vriendin. Ik snap dat de ouders het beste voor hebben maar ik vond het maar irritant vooral omdat het Elia zo onzeker maakte.
Verder modeshows, een theatershow, en Parijs! Ook leuk vond ik de bonusverhalen, eentje in de middeleeuwen en eentje met een backstory van hoe Ronnie/Pam/Elia/etc. zijn begonnen met theater (en rip Elia).
Oh, en ik vond Sebastien vrienden echt geweldig (dat stuk met die telefoon).
Ik weet nog niet wat ik moet denken van dat konijn in zijn eigen POV. Laat hem maar gewoon schattig zijn.

Ten eerste, dit blijft een van de mooiste graphic novels die er is, het is echt prachtig getekend. Het verhaal zelf is ook echt zo hartverwarmend en het voelt echt als een warme appeltaart nadat je door een regenbui hebt gefietst. Wel vond ik dit deel net wat minder sterk dan deel 1 en ik heb niet echt het gevoel dat we veel verder in het verhaal zijn gekomen, hopelijk komt dat in deel 3!!!

si j’étais tout à fait honnête, je dirai que j’ai été un peu déçue parce qu’on en a pas tant appris dans ce tome mais j’apprécie tellement le travail, l’univers et les personnages que la note se justifie 🫶🏻 et puis c’était drôle, émouvant, tout mimiiii je veux être leur nouvelle amie 🥹✨.

Oh, I’m just SO EXCITED TO TALK ABOUT ‘LE NORMAUX’. But first things first, I wanna thank William Morrow for gifting me this gorgeous finished copy of Les Normaux Vol.2. I can’t stress enough how beautiful it looks on physical form. A true piece of art. Like I truly want to frame every page and display them around my room.
I AM OBSESSED with this graphic novel. I feel like I was kicking my feet the entire time I read the second volume because this is such a feel good type of graphic novel. It made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, even though seasonal depression is still heavy on my soul this 2026, and that is a testament on how great the creators are. I was glued to the pages and so invested in each and every one of the characters. Even the character’s that had not much presence in this volume were so interesting. And I love, LOVE the little tidbits we got from Sebastien’s bunny, Pierre, and how he is pining for Bijou, Matisse’s dog.
I’m so glad Sebastien and Elia are talking things through and that they are getting to a point where they’re no longer so awkward around each other. Because much of the time they are both creating huge obstacles out of things that are simply just inside their heads and I, as a person with terrible anxiety, totally get it. Sometimes we make small things into huge monsters that haunts us and torments us for weeks, and when we finally face whatever these things were, they were nothing but something that could’ve been easily handled. So I totally ache for both of them. I’m thrilled at how things ended for them in this volume. Things may be scary and sometimes straight up difficult but they are setting their fears aside and trusting in each other; learning to communicate better which is the key to their problems. Can’t wait to see where they are headed in the next volume.
And can we talk about Ronnie and Drew for a moment. I wanna smack both their heads because they’re perfect for each other yet here they are being dense as a brick. Like come on. And I love Pam because she clocked what was happening from the very beginning and the only reason Ronnie gets irritated is because she knows deep down Pam is right. I LOVE a person with good discernment. It’s quite refreshing, especially when other characters are being headstrong. And their banter, ugh, so delicious. Drew rating Ronnie’s dates like, come on sweetie you can do better than that. And I’m here like of course you can Ronnie, your 10/10 date is literally in front of you. Stop bickering and kiss already.
Before I end this review I wanna leave this quote here, spoken by the great Raahim Mohammed whom I adore, because it truly hit me hard in the feels and I wanted to share it. ”I think people put too much importance on seeing their life as some grand story. A grand story with chapters that need to work up to this great ending. I think that life is more like a collection of them. Some have happy endings. Some have bad endings. Why let the possibility of one bad at the end sour all the good ones in the middle?”
A true masterpiece. I’m giving this one 5/5 stars (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)

This series is like a cup of warm caramel apple cider on a cold day. It may not be caffeinated, but it warms my soul and it’s so sugary sweet that I can’t help but smile the entire time I’m drinking it. That is in essence the entirety of the cosy fantasy genre. The story may have its ups and downs, but it’s just a feel good experience that you can’t help but enjoy.
While volume 1 of Les Normaux had our two lovebirds having their meet cute and immediate attraction, it had me believing that love at first sight is a real phenomenon. I don’t love the term soulmate, but their love does seem to be from some kind of divine fate. They find each other at the right time and place and now we’re all voyeurs watching as they realize they are already meant to be.
I love how diverse the cast of characters are. Elia is a half Italian, half Indian vampire, Sébastien is a Filipino wizard, Ronnie is a Puerto Rican werewolf, Pam is an Afro-Haitian cyclops, Tiponi is a Native American fairy, and this is not mentioning the whole list of letters in the LGBTQIAP+ alphabet that they identify with, plus all of the other characters. It’s kind of amazing how much time and thought must have gone into planning and maintaining that many different distinct personalities and characteristics. To say that I’m impressed and in awe of the authors isn’t a big enough statement.
My only caveat to my love for the story is that this volume ends, not on a cliffhanger per say, but the boys are separated for a month, because Elia is traveling to Italy for his family’s clothing brand new line launch. And right before he leaves, he loses his phone. So they can’t text that entire time. Which I know is going to have Sébastien in his head the ENTIRE time. So I’m a little sad for that fact. I know he’s gonna crash out… I would as well!

This book was just as cute and sweet as the first one. As always, I loved the art and the interactions between all of the characters. Occasionally, I would forget who certain characters were because they’re such a large cast.
Sebastian and Elia spend several pages kissing, which was surprisingly adorable.
I thought it was really funny when Drew and Veronique were flirting: he kept judging all the guys she brought to the bar he worked at. At one point, she asks him “and you’re the expert because?“ And he replies “I’ve dated better guys”.
Very excited for the next volume!

I just love this webtoon turned graphic novel. The illustrations are so cute and I love the mix of deep and warm colours throughout the book.
The story continued to captivate me. I was cheering for Sebastien and Elia all the way and got really emotional over the things that they went through in this volume. I think the side characters who get attention are also really interesting. I want more and I will be turning to webtoon to continue the adventure.

I find it hard to give this a much lower rating than 4 stars because it fills a niche, and much of what I'd like to see more of is not really what this book is for. cute, beautifully coloured, cosy. I thought the back-and-forth and indecision were a little contrived, but that's me being picky. A lovely, welcome follow-up to the first volume :)

This was a cute graphic novel. I loved getting to know the characters more in this book and absolutely love the art style and illustrations. Overall this was a great read and I look forward to reading the next volume.

Les Normaux vol. 1 was already one of my favorite graphic novels of all time, and vol. 2 just really solidified it as one of my favorite graphic novel series.
We can start with the art, which is absolutely gorgeous. I've never seen a graphic novel take this much care with backgrounds. I've only been to Paris once, but I was absolutely transported back there through these pages. I also love the small details that make this the Paris for magic. It really feels like this story is grounded in a place. And the character designs are all so unique! There have been a lot of long-standing ideas around what various paranormal and fantasy species look like, but this series throws those out in favor of developing their own versions. I think my favorite character design of all is Drew, our undead bartender.
Then we have the romance at the heart of this story, which makes me swoon. You don't see a lot of demi main characters in romance, and I really appreciated how this second volume gave us a taste of some of the problems Seb has had in the past for being "slow" to understand his feelings. I also loved the exploration of Elia's nerdy side, and how he's hidden that away because it always felt like nobody cared. They're both so relatable in their baggage.
I know I could find this webcomic and read ahead, but I don't want to!! I love these physical graphic novels that let me hold this beautiful story in my hands. Here's hoping I won't have to wait too long for volume 3.

Super cute and fun. Really great art and pacing.
Although, sometimes these characters infuriated me. I know lots of people struggle with self confidence and relationships but some of the things these characters worried about didn't make sense. Like why would someone think you're weird for having a hobby, like collecting comics, or wearing glasses? Like that's such a strange thing to be worried about. If someone's going to dislike you for having poor eye sight and needing glasses or having a family that's not absolutely perfect then they're not worth knowing. I know some people can be weird about "nerdy" hobbies but it's never that serious to withhold something like book collecting.
I do love our two main lovers but at the same time it did feel a bit insta lovely. They drunkenly kissed at a party, ended up living in the same building and it was shooting stars from there. The friends are immediately on board without having any information or visuals and all they know is they're neighbors and they must be hot. I could understand the behavior in heartstopper because they were in highschool but these characters are in their late 20s. They're wondering if the other likes them AFTER kissing and constantly hanging out. Elias's family literally says to date ANYONE as long as he just gets out there and gets in a relationship but he has to be all conflicted about dating his childhood friend or his neighbor crush as if this was rocket science. His family even said it's ok if he doesn't end up with his childhood friend but they set it up since he hadn't mentioned anyone else. Like they will literally hang out and have the time of their lives but then get home and think "omg what if he thinks I'm weird for wearing glasses and having complicated family dynamics" as if that stopped anything while they hung out.
Also Ronnie confuses me too! I get being jaded towards men because they've proven to hurt/disappoint her in the past but her method of dating makes no sense. What could you possibly get out of purposely dating gym rat nobodies and only allowing one date? What could you possibly understand about a person or expect them to know about you on just one date especially when you've already made up your mind that it won't go further. Just stop calling it a date and sleep around. I also don't like the advice of telling her confused friend to sleep around in order to figure out or defuse their emotions about a crush... like huh?!? She's so lucky that a super sweet mute guy is willing to play along with her games and watch her go on multiple one night stands with other guys all while knowing she doesn't even like any of them. It's ok to put the monster match down or call it what it is, a booty call. She even snaps at her friend saying one date isn't enough of a chance and she snaps at her saying she doesn't know men... right but you continue to never allow anyone to make a connection in the first place so you don't know them either.
This is definitely a cute story with good art but sometimes I find myself thinking about things too much to let smaller details go. I'm definitely not a big romance reader since we know they all end up together in the end but we have to sit through pointless conflict for there to be a plot. His family even said it's ok if he doesn't end up with his childhood friend but they set it up since he hadn't mentioned anyone else. Like they will literally hang out and have the time of their lives but then get home and think "omg what if he thinks I'm weird for wearing glasses and having complicated family dynamics" as if that stopped anything while they hung out.
Also Ronnie confuses me too! I get being jaded towards men because they've proven to hurt/disappoint her in the past but her method of dating makes no sense. What could you possibly get out of purposely dating gym rat nobodies and only allowing one date? What could you possibly understand about a person or expect them to know about you on just one date especially when you've already made up your mind that it won't go further. Just stop calling it a date and sleep around. I also don't like the advice of telling her confused friend to sleep around in order to figure out or defuse their emotions about a crush... like huh?!? She's so lucky that a super sweet mute guy is willing to play along with her games and watch her go on multiple one night stands with other guys all while knowing she doesn't even like any of them. It's ok to put the monster match down or call it what it is, a booty call. She even snaps at her friend saying one date isn't enough of a chance and she snaps at her saying she doesn't know men... right but you continue to never allow anyone to make a connection in the first place so you don't know them either.
This is definitely a cute story with good art but sometimes I find myself thinking about things too much to let smaller details go. I'm definitely not a big romance reader since we know they all end up together in the end but we have to sit through pointless conflict for there to be a plot. That's just not my cup of tea but now that they've seemed to get past this little hill I might continue.
