Time & Time Again

Once upon a time, two broken boys fell in love…

Maverick Fox: the one man I couldn’t have and the only one my heart ever wanted.
At eighteen, I fell in love with him and watched the world rip us apart.
At twenty-three, I let my family hurt him and couldn’t fight for him.
At twenty-nine, I broke his heart and mine with lies and bad choices.
At thirty-six, I told myself that he was better off without me, no matter how much I still wanted him.

… but sometimes, the right timing is everything.

I enjoy diving deep into characters and their stories, journeying with them while figuring out who they are. It’s the goal I have for all the characters I create and hope you find a way to connect with them.

This is one of the hardest books I had to rate because I'm torn tbh. My thoughts are all over the place. I recognize and respect the author's efforts, and also a story like this usually and should make me bawl my eyes out. But some things didn't click.

So, it's the story of Harley and Maverick who meet at 18 years old. Harley is the proper rich kid from a well established family, and Mav is "trailer trash." Harley is controlled by his mother and her expectations, and Mav is controlled by his older brother Aidan. Aidan like to steal for money by and he ropes Mav with him. Mav kisses Harley at school to help him during a panic attack. The two start spending time together and connecting and eventually more before they get separated. The story is told in 4 parts. Part 1 at 18 years old, Part 2 at 23, Part 3 at 29, and Part 4 at 36 years old. The MMCs are separated between the parts. So yes, there is THREE separation. So, I wouldn't call this second chance romance.

First of all, kudos to the author for that long list of content warning. They included every trigger in the book, no matter if small or big.

FYI for the people (like me) who are against on page scenes with OP - on the content warning there is "sexual encounter between an MC & a side character (on page/brief/before MCs are a couple)" but it is literally very brief and at 2% mark. It is just a sentence where Harley finds Mav with his pants around his knees while a blonde guy is giving a bj and Harley staring at Mav's face . It is not explicit beyond that.

The story itself is very interesting. How they meet years after years and how they still have feelings for each other. I really liked how Mav calls Harley "princess"🤩 I loved the "seashell" gesture.

But there are also things that didn't work out for me:

1. Very long
I felt that the book is unnecessary long (119 chapters, 720 pages). Now, I don't have problem with long books as I read books before that were that long and enjoyed every second. But with this book, I got to a point where I got bored and ultimately started to skim. I kept looking at what percentage I am at wanting to reach the end fast, and that's not a good sign when reading. The book could have easily been 150 pages shorter.

2. Too much drama
I felt that too much drama is thrown in, like something is bound to go wrong at every angle in their life. After everything that happened to them personally throughout the book, you'd think the drama would end but no we have more drama thrown in: the surrogate Holly gets into car accident at 6 and half month pregnant with Aria, the baby Aria getting sick and back to hospital, Aria having peanut allergy, Aria having an allergic severe reaction and brought to hospital. All of this after the 80% mark, after spending the first 80% of the book with drama surrounding Maverick & Harley. It just felt too much at one point. Like you would expect few things to go wrong and life being harsh on them few times but not every little thing to go wrong. The dramatic events I mentioned are just a fraction of what's in the book cus there are lots of dramatic events thrown in. I get that the author wants to add more drama and life harshness, but the story started to feel overcrowded.

3. Spice and Sex.
I felt like the spice started good then it became repetitive that I skimmed through some.
Listen, I get that a good amount of readers nowadays are all for spice and dirty talk in books and authors are trying to target that, which is a smart move, but some stories really benefit from less spice and more emotional connection. Big example is this story here. The MMCs are separated THREE times. Every time, they are reunited, they jump right back into sex, which I can excuse for the first two separations saying that they don't know how to communicate otherwise. But for the last separation/reunion, when they are at 36 years old, I was very disappointed. It's been 7 years. They see each other, and decide to go on a date, which is perfect. But then the date ends with spicy time. WHY? why couldn't they go on more dates before jumping to sex again? why couldn't they establish a concrete connection first and be on solid ground, especially after 7 years apart and that being their 3rd separation?
Spice can be really important in a story but also it can really harm a story. And here, the spice took away from my belief of their love and connection.
Staying on topic of sex. They get first separated at 18 (after sharing kisses and connecting) till 23. Harley is still virgin never done anything with anyone (He doesn't know yet he is a Demi). Mav on the other hand has hooked up. I wish, and it's my personal preference here, that Mav would save something for Harley cus Mav had topped (mostly) and bottomed before. So, I wish that Mav only topped in those years apart, so him bottoming for Harley would feel special between them. I wish he had not hooked up at all of course but yeah😂 They get separated again from 23 to 29, and to my shock, neither is with anyone else, so my OP phobia was so happy at that fact. Then, we have separation from 29 to 36, in which Harley date 2 other men but no sexual things happen cus he doesn't connect and finds out he is Demi, but Mav hooks up with others. Now, my OP phobia is on full alert here cause these two guys fell in love completely at 23, I didn't find it fair that one has hooked up while the other has never been with anyone except the other MMC. I know Harley hurt Mav before last separation and Mav wanted to move on, but blame my OP phobia. Again, I wish that this time as well, the author had thrown in that Mav had only topped other people in the last separation and didn't let anyone top him, it would feel special. The author didn't mention anything about that, just hinted that Mav hooked up.

4. Not enough angst/grovel
Expanding on point 3, I felt like there was not enough buildup. In the three times they get separated, Mav always ended up the one being hurt the most and Harley doing the hurt unintentionally. When they are reunited, it felt like everything is easily forgotten, water under the bridge. They see each other and Mav just melt and vice versa, and they jump in bed. There is no angst, hurt and the slow finding their way back to each other. I personally wanted more.

5. Love declaration
I felt that the I love yous fell flat. Mav says I love you in part 2 but Harley never says it back until part 3 in a text message. Considering their story, I expected the I love yous to have more impact on me as a reader. They just felt anti-climatic.

6. Impact
I felt that the setting and the circumstances surrounding the story would make me cry non stop and feel so much angst and heartbreak. But it didn't. I was just reading to see what will happen but didn't feel like their story reached out to me and tugged on my heartstrings. Now, it could have only been my mood at the time of reading. So, I'm not going to say that the story isn't emotional. I did get frustrated though every time they got separated, so I wasn't emotionless😂

You notice how every time I said " I felt" before expressing a thought? is because I truly believe that reading is subjective. If I didn't like certain aspects of the book, it doesn't mean that the book is bad or you won't like it.
This book really shows that the author put a lot of effort into writing it, no argue about that. But unfortunately, certain things didn't align with my reading expectations. It could align with yours, so give the book a chance.

Gotta say when I saw this book was 119 chapters and almost 700 pages — I was weary. I haven’t read that long of a book since my fantasy days. While I think this could have been shorter, I think each part served a purpose and allowed the reader to get the totality of Mav and Harley’s story; which was beautiful. Two broken boys who find solace and safety in one another but end up in a never ending tug-of-war until they realize they need to heal themselves and find peace within.

I would recommend this in a heartbeat.

Find yourself a man who will cherish and keep treasures that you can't hold onto yourself.

Received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I’d been waiting for this book for a really long time, and I was absolutely sure I was going to love it, so maybe I went into it with too high expectations?
This is a somewhat difficult review to write..

I thought this book would be really raw, high angst, deal with difficult topics, tear me apart and then put me back together. Instead, I ended up feeling… not much of anything. Was it just the book or simply the wrong time for me to read it, idk.

This started off really promisingly, and I was like, "Yes, this is going to have tension and chemistry." The further I read, though, the more I couldn't feel that deep connection between Harley and Maverick, no matter how hard I tried. I didn't feel excitement or butterflies when I read about them.

⚠️minor spoilers ahead

Harley, Harley, Harley... it was really hard for me to accept how little backbone he had. Especially in Parts 2 and 3, when he didn’t put up enough of a fight, and I just can’t understand why he supposedly _had_ to get married or force himself to have a family. I just didn't buy it. No matter how I look at it, it just didn’t make enough sense.

Each time they met again and got back together, it was somehow really underwhelming -and it followed the same pattern, first with the house, then with the barn. And Harley never actually grovels at any point, he didn't truly step up. Somehow, the whole thing is missing that fight, intensity, chemistry, that tension filled build-up and then reward.

Personally, I think I liked Part 4 the most—it felt the most lively because there were many other characters in it—and I liked Aria. But at the same time, I’m a little disappointed that it felt like Harley's healing was centered around or because of Aria (I'm sure that this is just my opinion). But even in part 4, it felt like Harley didn’t have to fight for Maverick—everything just fell into place again, and it still felt like Maverick is the one who puts in more effort and compromises.

And even though there’s some drama here (well, obviously, given the book’s plot), I thought there was surprisingly little angst? I mean, I was kind of expecting more—for example, Maverick had some sort of drinking problem and he eventually overcomes it, but even that played a really minor role.

Spice was spicing but it became a bit repetitive after a while -it could have offered more. I did like their dynamics tho and loved how Mav called Harley ”Princess”.

I feel like this review has been somewhat negative so far, but I wanted to get my honest thoughts out there (as always). In the end, though, I still decided to give it 4 stars. I love books like this, which tell the couple’s story starting from their youth, where they’re always drawn to each other no matter how much time has passed, and the story involves trauma and healing. And even though the book is very long, it kept me invested until the end.
Also, there were a few passages that really resonated with me. I can see that the author has poured their heart and soul into this and these characters.

Unfortunately, though, the book didn't make me feel as much as I would have liked.

A. Winchester has once again delivered a heartfelt love story with characters you will never forget.

If you’ve ever wondered what “right person, wrong time” really feels like, Time and Time Again shows it.

Maverick and Harley’s story spans decades, full of missed chances, heartbreak, and moments that make you feel every twist and turn of their journey. Told across four parts, their happily ever after doesn’t come easy, but it’s worth every tear… and believe me, there will be tears.

What I really loved about this story was the raw emotion, I felt everything the characters felt. Every heartbreak felt like it was my own.

Sensitive topics are always handled with care, the author doesn’t shy away from the hard stuff, but it’s never done for shock value. It’s real, it’s painful, it hurts and it’s relatable. If you’ve ever lost someone you love, if you’ve ever wished for a second chance, to do things differently next time, this story will resonate with you.

While yes, there is spice (and if you’ve read any of the authors books before you’ll know it’s going to be top tier), it never overshadows their story. It compliments it and only adds another layer of emotional depth. The way Maverick & Harley connect through these intimate scenes is nothing short of beautiful. Though I will say if you like your MCs a little bit filthy, you’re gonna love Maverick, some of the things he says during the spicy scenes even had me blushing.

Time and Time Again was a story I didn’t want to end, I wanted to stay with these characters forever. Part 4 was my favourite. Watching Maverick & Harley mature, seeing the work they both did to overcome the trauma from their pasts and grow into the men they were always meant to be, was everything. It truly felt like for them to finally be together they had to first become comfortable in their own skin, they had to do the work themselves, love wasn’t going to magically fix these broken boys. And that made part 4 hit so much harder. The epilogue was beautiful, and such a fitting end to their story. I lost count of the number of times I cried, but in the epilogue it was only happy tears and I’ll always hold a special place in my heart for Maverick & Harley.

The found family element to the story really drives home the idea that sometimes the family you choose matters more than blood. And this was definitely the case for both men.

If you love stories that make you feel. Stories that make you question. Stories that make you stay up late because you need to read just one more chapter. Stories that will hurt you, but at the same time heal you in ways you didn’t know you needed healing, well this is the story for you.

Without a shadow of a doubt I would recommend Time and Time Again. If there’s one book you read this year Time and Time Again deserves that spot on your TBR.

I DNF’d at 50%. I’m very shocked/confused at all of the positive reviews of this book. Perhaps I’m not rich enough to understand the story, or perhaps I’m not poor enough. I genuinely do not understand the motivations of these characters, specifically Harley.

First and foremost, this book is split into four different parts. I stopped actually reading this book at the 50% mark, but I skimmed through the rest of it. The first part is them as teenagers and we get about 13 chapters of them meeting/getting to know one another and somehow they build this lifelong connection in like a couple of weeks? We never really get a specific amount of time of how long they were around each other, but we only got 13 very short chapters of them as teenagers and then they get separated by Harley‘s mom because Maverick is too poor and trashy apparently. And it said that Harley is going to go live with his grandfather who’s going to whip him into shape… Whatever that means. And in this very short part one, we don’t get enough time to really understand why the two boys are so drawn to one another. I understand why they might like each other, and I can understand why they’re intrigued by one another, but to me, I’m not really sure why five years later they are still so taken with one another. The connection that they built in however long it was that they were together doesn’t lend itself to five years of pining.

Then we get thrown into part two which is basically just smut. They get reunited because Harley‘s dad killed himself, but we don’t get into any of that angst, they just meet up again and fall right into bed with one another. Everything is so brushed past, we don’t get into anything. Maverick is shown to be an alcoholic, and yet Harley barely comments on it and they don’t really talk about it. Harley‘s dad literally killed himself and we don’t really talk about it! We don’t really get into Harley‘s head about how he feels about it. Harley is hinted to be demisexual, and yet again, we don’t really talk about it. There’s a little conversation that they have about how Harley hadn’t been with anyone, and then he immediately has sex with Maverick. And to me, it’s a little hard to justify why he’s getting with Maverick when they haven’t seen each other in five years. And then they get separated again because of their shitty families and miscommunication, which is such a heavy heavy feature in this book. The miscommunication is so frustrating in this book.

Then we get to part three. They are both in their late 20s/about to be 30, and once again, for some reason, they’re very much so in love with one another even though once again, they barely spent enough time with each other in part two to justify having such strong feelings, even after all these years. Maverick went to jail because of Harley’s mom and doesn’t even tell Harley that’s the reason why. The whole reason why Harley is so upset with him is because Maverick had to pretend like he never had any feelings for Harley in the first place at the behest of Harley’s mother, and yet he doesn’t tell him this. Nor does Harley tell Maverick that he’s in a loveless marriage. Had they both done this, it would’ve saved so much time and angst and it’s just stupid. And that’s why I finally had to stop reading this book because there’s not enough emotion where there needs to be emotion and the motivations of these characters, especially the side characters, do not make sense to me.

I guess I’m just too poor to understand why Harley‘s mom is the way she is. She was so villainess, It got to the point of being cartoony. She said something along the lines of being a mother isn’t about loving your child, it’s about making them the best that they could be, and I genuinely laughed out loud because what the fuck was that? I feel like Harley could have told her no. He’s not living in the 1800s where he can’t go out and find a job and do something with his life on his own. Yeah, he might get cut off, but he’s so miserable that it would be better than living under his mom‘s thumb. And why does he have to get married? Again, this isn’t back in the days where he has to get shipped off and get married like a prize pig. This is the 21st-century. He does not have to be in a political/arranged marriage. And of course, his wife is awful too because why wouldn’t she be? I always have a problem with books like this where every side character were introduced to has to be a terrible person. Or at least almost every side character. Maverick’s family consists of drug adult mother who doesn’t care about her kids and abandoned them, an absent father, and his brother is a literal psychopath. And Harley‘s family consists of his mother who doesn’t care if he lives or dies and his dad who, for some reason, was still with his mom, even though he was so miserable to the point of killing himself.

I just feel like these characters could’ve gotten out of their situations. Maverick kept talking about how he wanted to leave town in part two and how he had been saving enough money and he wanted to get out. He could’ve just left. I’m sure he could’ve figured something out. He had enough money. He would’ve been able to do it. Especially considering he lived in poor conditions anyway, so it’s not like he’s leaving a comfortable situation to be put in an uncomfortable position. Hell, I wish Harley would’ve had more reservations about being with Maverick considering that Maverick is dirt poor and Harley is super rich. That would’ve been a really interesting dynamic to read. Instead, Harley was willing to go slum it out with Maverick because he loved him for whatever reason, and instead it was his mom that broke them up and not his inherent prejudice from living rich.

And from what I skimmed, they get separated once again because the Harley didn’t tell Maverick that he was married and so Maverick swore him off for good and blah blah blah blah blah. I just genuinely couldn’t read anymore. I didn’t care about the two main characters, in fact, I found them quite whiny and annoying, and unwilling to change their own lives when they could have. They could’ve been uncomfortable and things could’ve been shitty and rocky for a while, but they would’ve gotten through it because it was better than the lives that they were living. And instead, they bitched and whined, and moaned and fell in love with one person and didn’t bother trying to find another person out there. From the moments that we did get them together, I didn’t buy this earth shattering, life-changing connection that they forged. I didn’t get any of that from this book.

Honestly, not one character by the 50% mark was likable to me.

First, A. Winchester is paying for my therapy bill because the way this book WRECKED my life and my emotional capacity for feelings and life is UNREAL. Secondly, I absolutely LOVED this book, but I will not read it again, I do not have the mental health to do so; the anxiety I had throughout this entire book had me STRESSED.

So where and how to start...

Maverick, my poor sweet Maverick, you were dealt such a shitty hand my love. My heart absolutely broke for him throughout the ENTIRE book. You needed SO much love and every time you reached for it, you were slapped down in the worst of ways. HOWEVER, sir, your holding out game is WEAK lol but I still love you.

Harley, you sir are a whole hot mess with so much trauma that it's PAINFUL to see you suffer. You sir were fighting for your life and mental stability your whole life and just needed the push to help you put yourself first. When you found that push and finally put yourself first, you became an entire different person and you were BEAUTIFUL.

This book changes your brain chemistry in the best way but you will go THROUGH it.

Time & Time Again - A. Winchester
5/5✨🌟

* SPOILERS *

I cannot believe that this is my first book by A. Winchester and I’m just so in love with how she brings the story forcefully front and center. I don’t even know where to start about how I feel for this book because there is so much that happens with Harley and Maverick. I love a book when the plot is right person but wrong time.

The way that these two meet is definitely not conventional. Poor Harley was having a panic attack and to help him, Maverick kissed him.

I just love how the book is split up in four parts and man, what a whirlwind that was.

You get how they meet and just fall in love but things happened where they could be together.

Then, you get the inevitable where Harley’s family did the unknown and Harley couldn’t save him.

My heart broke a little more when Harley broke Maverick’s heart.

Things get better when they are in their thirties. Can I just say that Aria is just the cutest little girl ever? When she meets Duke, that was just even cuter.

This book is wrapped up in so many pieces. Your emotions definitely go through it but when you get to the cute moments, it’s so worth the wait.

I’m a sucker for pet names and when Maverick calls Harley Princess, I was here for it. Those spice scenes, though… wow!

Each part of the book I loved either one of them more or both of them depending on the situation.

I don’t want to spoil this book for anyone but if you have not read any of her books, I highly recommend this one because as emotional this book it is, it makes you eager for more for Harley and Mav.

I have to say one of my favorite parts was when Maverick sewed a stuffed animal for Aria. Say what?! And the car seat. That whole scene had me in my little emotions because how cute was that!

I will say when they get those negative people out of their lives, they get the family and the love that they absolutely deserved from the very beginning.

This is just one of those books that really shows that it’s more than a love story but more of a journey to healing. I love books that really make you feel the hurt and the emotions. Also, with all the love knows you’ll get a little hope and laughter when these two MC’s get the love that they deserve.

I received a copy of this book and this is my honest review.

Well strap in and suit up for an emotional AF read. This book was incredible. Holy crap. I wasn't prepared. Easily one of my top reads of the year!

If you love stories that hurt before they heal, play with fate & deliver emotional damage with purpose then this is the book for you! Prepare to lose a part of yourself to these 2 utterly broken boys while they learn to navigate life, learn to heal & how to love.

Maverick & Harley are the kind of characters who don’t simply exist on the page, they linger. Their dynamic is complicated— a potent blend of sharp edges & soft vulnerabilities. Its got heartbreak, angst, spice, a slow burn, time jumps (somebody stop me because I could go on forever). I literally loved everything about this book.

Where do I even begin? A. Winchester’s ability to write emotionally moving romances is unmatched, and Harley and Maverick’s story is one that is forever engrained into my heart. When these two broken boys fell in love, it was impossible not to fall in love with them in the process, and when the world broke them apart, I broke right alongside them. Going on this journey with Harley and Mav was one of inevitable love, heartbreak, growth and a hard-won and well-fucking-deserved happily ever after — the way I was systematically put back together by the end of their story had my heart bursting with overwhelming joy. Words can’t adequately express how much I love these two and how worth it is to grow and heal with them.

Maverick Fox was the one man Harley couldn’t have and the only one he ever wanted, but the timing was always wrong…

At seventeen, Harley fell in love with Mav and their circumstances ripped them apart.

At twenty-three, Harley’s family hurt Mav and Harley couldn’t fight for him.

At twenty-nine, Harley broke both of their hearts.

And at thirty-six, Harley told himself that Mav was better off without him, despite never being able to forget Mav… but what if the timing was finally right?

Harley and Maverick’s romance is told in four parts and each part evokes a wide range of emotions, while simultaneously endearing these men to you more than you thought possible. On paper, Harley and Mav appear to not make sense, but the thing about love is that it doesn’t have to make sense to the outside world. The connection between these broken boys was instantaneous and one they both desperately needed — their upbringings are vastly different but abuse knows no tax bracket and being failed by those who should love and protect you leaves invisible wounds and scars that are so damn difficult to heal. Both Harley and Mav are searching for a lifeline and when they recognize that they might have found one, it gives you the best feeling of something good for them both…before it all goes awry.

In their time together, both Harley and Mav experience so many firsts, and I can’t spoil what those are, BUT we love Every. Single. One. Think: cute dates, figuring out likes and dislikes in the bedroom while establishing healthy communication and boundaries (consent kings with dirty mouths are sexy AF — we love everything Mav has to say), and brownies in a mug.

The universe feels cruel at times throughout Mav and Harley’s journey. When they are ripped apart it’s gut-wrenching, unfair, and heartbreaking. And when the universe brings them back together, it’s like it has a wicked sense of humor — being a spectator to when these men see the person they least expect, yet haven’t forgotten, will have you on the edge of your seat wondering if it’s the moment that the timing is right…and when it’s finally right?! Holy. Shit. I was team Mav and Harley since day one, I never stopped rooting for them, and the love I had for both of them grew exponentially as they began to focus on being the best versions of themselves. To know Mav is to love him, there is no other choice. The work he puts into himself is inspiring, the way he not only tells but shows how he feels with his actions will have you in your feels (Mav as a bonus dad is so wholesome and beautiful) and the love he has for Harley is endless. Harley is someone who never had the opportunity to find himself growing up and the mistakes he makes don’t define him — watching him choose himself and his daughter is a pivotal turning point. And their chemistry? 🔥🔥🔥 I ate up all the spice, and there’s plenty! The filth that comes out of Mav’s mouth is downright sinful and delicious!!

This story had me wishing Wilde Bay was a real place, wanting to make brownies in a mug when I need a pick-me-up and looking into some spooky stuffies for my daughter (once you meet Aria, you’ll understand). Mav and Harley’s love sets the standard for the “it’s always been you trope” and their HEA is fucking beautiful.

How do I even put into words how I feel about this book? I'm not even sure there are words, but here I go...

This book took me apart and put me back together again! Over and over. It is more than a story of broken boys, whose pieces shouldn't fit, but do. It is a story of trauma and greif, of survival and mistakes, but most of all, it is a story of LOVE and HEALING

This is the kind of book that changes everything. It alters your brain chemistry, and re-wires what you thought you wanted out of a love story. Maverick and Harley's story is far from a fairy tale romance, but one thing is certain, you can FEEL their connection right from the start!

This book takes you on a journey through EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOUR FEELS. It'll make you laugh, cry, rage, smile, swoon, and fall in love. It is messy and raw. Harley and Mav get it wrong sometimes, but that made it so real. Truthfully life was the real villain in this story, as it so often is.

Through all the ups and downs of all 4 parts, one thing remained the same-Maverick was Harley's person, and Harley was Maverick's person. Period. The way that played out changed over the years but they always fit together. Sometimes it was in a mug of "feel-good food" or a simple tattoo with huge meanings attached to it. Sometimes it was easy forgiveness when forgiveness should not have been easy. However it looked over time, their connection was undeniable.

I loved both of these boys so much. Harley oh Harley, he makes you want to grab ahold of him and never let go. He cries out to just be loved, to be seen. He works hard to make sure make SURE his daughter never has to work to feel an ounce of love. Even though this childhood was filled with trauma he worked hard to heal, and continue to heal, so they can have the best life the world has to offer.
Maverick’s easy acceptance and huge heart, even in the face of all the world put him through touched my heart on so many levels. He had a mountain of anger to work through, but he does so gracefully! He is kind and compassionate when many others would not be-oh and did i mention that MOUTH! I think we all deserve a Mav in our lives! Sweet, with a heaping helping a filthy mouth! 😍🥵 These two have carved out a place in my heart, and they will remain there forever, and a day!

Don't get me started on one adorable spooky queen, a zombie teddy bear, and an overzealous pup-do I even need to say more?

The thing that stood out most to me was through all the mistakes and miscommunication, through the tears and pain the way they always found each other was EVERYTHING! Although they both struggle in different ways throughout the book, their connection always remains, and more than that it develops! They heal, the leave room for mistakes to happen, and they allow for imperfections. They love in the truest, most unconditional sense of the word.

Harley and Mav's story was messy, and raw, and sometimes painful. But it was also beautiful filled with contentment, understanding, small gestures with huge impacts, and forgiveness. The worked hard to become the versions of themselves that were finally able to get it right. This is easily a top read of 2026 for me! I never wanted it to end!

Wow… 😮‍💨 I’m trying to find the words to truly express what this book was. Just…. THE FEELS 😭😭!!

This story truly encompasses the beauty and pain of meeting “the right person at the wrong time”. We follow Harley and Maverick through different times in their lives, written in four parts, where the concept of “you’re the right person but the universe chose the wrong moment for us” remains true. Their love and journey was truly the test of time.

I would like to start by saying “People who were raised on love see things differently than those that were raised on survival.” That’s an important concept to remember with this book. Abuse knows no income bracket. It does not discriminate & comes in many different forms. Throughout this story, we watch two broken kids turned men, navigate the struggles of abuse, generational trauma, survival, self-worth, and love. Every twist, turn, and tear was worth the journey to their hard earned and fought HEA.

Harley Lowell… the way I want to wrap him up in a bubble and fight all those responsible for his trauma. Harley’s story proves to you that abuse truly knows no income bracket. Anxiety doesn’t give a f*ck about how much money you have or what your environment looks like. To watch Harley truly FIGHT for his HEA (not just romantically), and become the man he was always meant to be, warmed my heart & healed pieces of me. I was like a proud mama watching this man fall, stumble, but get back up again.

Maverick Fox… God, what I hope everyone understands is how real it is to constantly be in/on “survival mode.” This man goes THROUGH IT, and what he proves throughout his journey, is that you are NOT your abuse, you are who you CHOOSE to be. My baby Mav…. Watching this man also fight and stumble while getting back up again, never ever ceased to amaze me. Pair the feels with the FILTHY MOUTH 🥵on my favorite man (he should come with a warning sign 🤣) & you’ll be swooning & fanning yourself along with me🤣.

Watching both men navigate their different traumas and the way life handed them some really difficult and crappy ass cards had me in my feelings. This whole book was truly a love letter to my own generational trauma and reminded me that fighting for something better and WANTING something better, is not only possible, but so freaking worth it 😭

I’m someone who pays attention to the little things and when I tell you, I am OBSESSED how these two love one another, and in the simplest, “little things” way, it is EVERYTHING. Parts 1-4 DO NOT fail to show you how sometimes the little things matter in such the biggest ways 🥲🩵.

I love Maverick and Harley more than all the seashells in the world (iykyk). In true Winchester fashion, there will be tears, there will be hurt, there will be pain, but there will ALSO be triumphs, so much love, friendships, and forged families in the best of ways. This book truly healed a part of me I never knew needed healing. Their love & journey is my favorite one yet and have stolen the number one spot of my favorite pair of Winchester men.

I will love them, forever and a day 😉, and I hope you do too.

Oh my god what a fucking book! I don’t even know where to begin with this but I’ll start out by saying it’s infinite stars for me! This book is incredible from the first page to the last.

This book has me in a chokehold right now. It has everything I love to see in a book from funny and loyal side characters, to amazing single dad, to first times that turn to second chances, and gut wrenching sadness and the deepest of love.

This book is told in 4 parts and covers 18 years of these men’s lives. From their first direct interaction to their finally happily ever after. I loved watching these guys grow together and individually because it gave you as the reader insight into their lives that normally just gets referenced or is a flashback in other stories.

At 18, Maverick is seen as the trailer trash kid who’s going no where in life. His brother is trash and his parents are not around in anyway that counts. He’s destined to become exactly what society expects of him. But it’s not what he wants for himself.
Harley was born with a diamond encrusted spoon in his mouth but no love in his world. He was made to be a pawn for his incredibly wealthy and powerful family in Wilde Bay and molded into exactly what the business needs. His mother controls everything in his life from who he sees to what he wears. On the outside it looks like he wants for nothing but on the inside all Harley wants is to be free from these chains.
When Maverick helps stop a panic attack Harley was experiencing in school, Harley becomes fascinated with the thought of how rebellious Maverick is and decides to become friends with him. Maverick doesn’t know what to think of the local rich boy showing interest in him but he’s willing to play along because Harley is nice to look at and there’s something about him that Mav wants to understand.
As the boys get closer they realize they have more in common than most might expect. Feelings are explored and they spend more and more time together but life is a cruel game. Nothing good can last when the world is built against you and you have severe expectations to follow.
As the years pass Mav and Harley tumble in and out of each others lives in a case of right person and wrong time. Destined for each other they can’t seem to stay away but life gives them every reason to let it all go.
After all this time, can they finally make it right?

When I tell you this is god tier I mean it. This book gives everything. I cried (many many times), I laughed, I was scared/nervous, and in the end my heart was so filled with hope and joy that i genuinely can’t pick my next book because I’m in such a high from this one.

It’s a journey. It’s a long read with many ups and downs but it’s real and it’s worth your time.

The spice in here was *chefs kiss* perfection. It’s apart of their journey and story and it’s honestly beautiful at times. Part 2 is the most heavily packed in my opinion and part 3/4 are scattered but nonetheless great. Nothing but kisses in part 1! 3.5/5 🌶️

Wow… just wow. This book??? It completely consumed me in the best (and most emotionally devastating) way possible 🫣📖

From the very first page of Time & Time Again, I was hooked. Like… fully gone. I connected with Harley and Maverick instantly, and that pull between them? Immediate. Intense. Unavoidable. Even with everything stacked against them, you could feel it. And I was NOT prepared for how deeply this story would get under my skin 😭

Harley… oh my heart 🥺💔
He absolutely shattered me. Everything he endured, especially with his mom, was just… horrific. The fear he carried, the way it shaped him into someone too scared to fully live—it hurt. But what got me the most? Every bad decision, every time he ran… it wasn’t weakness. It was survival.
I felt him. Even when it hurt. Even when it was frustrating. He was just trying to make it through the darkness, one day at a time 🖤

And Maverick… 🥹
That man. That beautifully broken, strong, soft man.
Everything he had to endure—everything he had to face—just for loving Harley? It broke something in me.
All he ever wanted was to be chosen. To be loved. And the way his anger, his walls, even his self-destruction all made sense?? It just hit. But his growth?? Unreal. Watching him become the man he was always meant to be had me in awe.

Their connection??? Soul-deep.
This is right person, wrong time done in the most painful, beautiful way. Decades of missed chances, heartbreak, healing, and finding their way back to each other again and again. It’s messy. It’s raw. It’s REAL. And the way they love each other—steady, unwavering, even when it hurts? Yeah… that kind of love will ruin me every single time 🫶

This isn’t just a love story—it’s about healing 🩹
It’s about surviving what should’ve broken you.
It’s about doing the work, growing into yourself, and learning that love isn’t what fixes you… but what meets you there when you’re ready ❤️‍🩹

I laughed, I cried (SO MANY TIMES), I felt every single emotion right alongside them. And when part 4 hit?? The growth, the maturity, the way everything finally clicked… I was gone. Completely undone.

Also… can we talk about the found family?? Because sometimes the family you choose really does mean everything 🥹

And yes—there’s spice 🌶️
And YES—it’s top tier. But it never overshadows their story. It adds to it. The intimacy between them felt emotional, meaningful… and okay, Maverick’s mouth?? 🥵 I was BLUSHING.

This book broke me… then slowly put me back together… and then broke me all over again—and somehow, I loved every second of it 😭

It’s heavy. It’s emotional. It’s not always easy to read. So please check the CWs 💫
But if you’re in the right headspace? This is the kind of story that stays with you. The kind that rewires what you think love stories should be.

Harley & Maverick own a piece of my heart now… and I don’t think I’m ever getting it back—and honestly? I’m not even mad about it. Not even a little 🖤

*I received a complimentary copy of this book but this is my honest and voluntary review!*

I’m emotionally exhausted from reading this book. It had been a while since I felt so emotionally raw while reading a book. I have so many feelings about this story that it’s hard to put into words.

From the beginning, Harley and Maverick were doomed to fail. The outrageous demands and abuse from Harley’s mother, the lack of support from his father and the constant pressure of taking over his family’s business were only the tip of the iceberg of the hellish life he was forced to live.

Then there was Maverick. The poor kid who was his brother’s punching bag when the mood struck, the rebel teen that Harley’s mother hated on principle and the only one who could make Harley disobey his mother’s orders.

What started out as puppy love became all consuming and inevitable. The more they were forbidden from being together, the more their love grew and the greater the consequences.

Maverick was ready to take on the world for Harley, but the witch had other plans. That was only the beginning of her cruelty. She tore them apart in the most despicable way and made sure that Maverick did his part.

But time didn’t erase the love they had for each other. The more time that passed, the stronger their love. After years apart, Harley was back in Maverick’s life and it was like time never went on. The universe had a vendetta against them and kept bringing them back together.

Their feelings were stronger than ever even after so many years. But this time Harley had a secret that ultimately destroyed them both. This time the hurt and pain was too much and it was better to just cut their losses and walk away.

This time the passing of the years worked for them to heal themselves. There was just too much trauma and pain not only between them but from their childhood. They had to learn to let go and focus on themselves in order to learn to be happy. They had both built a life for themselves where they could be happy and leave the past behind.

But once again the universe intervened and brought them face to face. It started with pixie dust and a barn in need of repair. With a sassy little girl who unknowingly took hold of Maverick’s heart and never let go.

They had another chance. This time they weren’t kids anymore. There was no brother or mother to make their lives miserable. There was no marriage or family duties. Only an unconditional love that time itself couldn’t erase.

This time around they knew what they wanted and weren’t afraid to go for it. They still needed to make peace with what had happened between them years ago, but there was never a doubt they would choose each other and protect what they had.

“𝓗𝓪𝓻𝓵𝓮𝔂, 𝓯𝓸𝓻𝓮𝓿𝓮𝓻 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓪 𝓭𝓪𝔂, 𝓽𝓱𝓪𝓽’𝓼 𝔀𝓱𝓪𝓽 𝓘’𝓶 𝓲𝓷 𝓯𝓸𝓻.”

This is my first time reading A. Winchester and I’m at a loss for words for how beautifully written this story was. There were just so many emotions to go through in between chapters but it was so worth it. I think this is the hardest hard fought HEA I’ve ever read and it really delivered.

💙 Time and Time Again by A Winchester 💙

i could seriously write my own novel about this book. so many tears were shed. but i also laughed, i blushed, i just FELT. not a lot of books make me feel so deeply like this one did, but.. man. i think Maverick and Harley’s love story has become one of my favorites ever. i love that their story is split up into 4 parts, so we get to see how much they change over time and see that no matter what awful things may come their way - their love is inevitable.

when we meet Mav and Harley in part 1, they are 18 and in high school. Mav is the bad boy, Harley is the anxiety-ridden rich boy. when Mav finds Harley in the bathroom having a panic attack, he does the one thing that starts it all: he kisses him. from then on, Mav begins to open up Harley’s mind to things he may have never even thought of.

in part 2, when they are 23, all i can think about is food and spice 😏🔥 well, and heartbreak 💔 have you ever thought about having whiskey in your cereal? Mav does. add in pancake tacos, drunken brownies in a mug and Harley’s first s’more experience to that. this is also when they get to know one another’s bodies and can’t keep their hands off of each other.. until disaster strikes (thanks to the worst mom ever) and they are forced to split- in the most heartbreaking way.

part 3 comes when they are 29, and trying to navigate life as adults. Mav is sober, Harley’s miserable, and they haven’t seen each other since the split. because the universe knows that the two aren’t done with each other yet, they meet again in an unexpected way, and old feelings are brought back to the surface. things are once again great between them - until Mav learns about Harley betraying him in a way that breaks EVERYONES heart (especially mine, even tho i knew what was happening the whole time) 🥺💔

part 4 occurs when they are 36. once again, Mav and Harley haven’t seen each other since the last fallout.. and meet again, in an unexpected way. this time, they are more cautious around each other, but that old flame still sparks up. even so, you can tell that this time is different. there’s been so much happen to the two, going on their own healing journeys.. learning things about each other that they didn’t take the time to know before.. it’s just beautiful. add in a firecracker spooky queen named Aria (Harley’s daughter) and her new favorite sidekick, Duke (Mav’s dog), and this hard earned HEA is sure to make anyone’s heart burst. it did mine 🥹🤍

i will end with this: i was intimidated at first, with the book being nearly 700 pages.. but not once while I was reading did i ever even think about that. i never wanted it to be over, and even still, i want more. this wasn’t a book- it was a whole experience. 🤍

Just when I think A. Winchester can't write another book that will hit me as hard as the last one, she does! This story hit right in all the feels. This is a story that will be forever etched into my heart and soul.

Maverick and Harley's story is one of boys broken by their lives finding that their shattered pieces fit together in a soul deep way. But this is also a story of "right person at the wrong time" told in 4 parts. Their story is emotional, even painful at times, and beautiful in a way that is so real. Their love and journey was truly breathtaking to witness.

Their story highlights how abuse and generational trauma can manifest across the spectrum of life and how it can breed in places you never see. It knows no income or geography. It can live in the darkness hidden behind silver spoons and in the light cast by anger and poverty. It can show up as bruises or in the quiet panic of a"perfect" life.

We watch their journey start as broken boys grow into men and try to navigate through life holding onto anger, anxiety, and their pasts. Struggling with their self worth and the ability to live a life beyond just survival. It is messy and raw. It is emotional in every way. It makes for a very hard fought HEA. You will fall in love with these men. You will cry with them and for them. You will root for them. You will laugh and smile. It is impossible to not be sucked into their orbit. The side characters will engrain themselves just as deeply as they become such integral parts to Maverick and Harley's journey.

Harley is one of those characters that I want to wrap up and just hold. He fights for more than just love on his journey. He fights to find the love for himself and to be more than what he was raised to be and to put an end to generations of trauma. Maverick is a fighter because he knew no other way to be. He lived day to day just trying to survive. His journey was of healing his anger and learning to have a life beyond just survival. He made hard choices and did the work to come out the other side an incredible man.

After all the times the universe threw these two together just to be ripped apart again was gut wrenching. It was emotional but in the end it was all part of their healing and helped mold them into the men that finally get their HEA. They become men who live their days in love and happiness. Who find that the little moments can speak volumes. They find that you aren't what happened to you. You are what you choose.

I loved this story so much. I love Maverick and Harley forever and a day (iykyk). I hope you read this story and I hope it heals you in the ways it healed me.

🪡 5 stars.

This is the story of two broken boys, Harley and Maverick, who fall in love but circumstances, time and the world refused to let them be together. They fell, broke apart and found each other again and again and again until finally, they reached their HEA.

Harley is the rich golden boy from Wilde Bay, crushed and leashed to the expectations & obligations of being a Lowell. Maverick is the trailer tr*ash wannabe bad boy and Harley's worst nightmare who found him at his weakest moment and surprisingly, inevitably, helped him out. And that is where they began. Or perhaps where they were always going to begin.

⌜   “You good now?”
      “Good,”
 “You’re blocking the door.”
    ⌟

Their story is told in four parts. And those four parts had to happen exactly the way they did to make their ending as deserved as it was.

At 17, they fell in love but their own circumstances ripped them apart.
At 23, Harley's family ripped them apart.
At 29, Harley destroyed them to pieces.
At 36, after they had both healed and were still healing.... what if? what if.... there was actually space for a them?

⌜   “You’ve spent your whole life looking for that boy to be the one to love you when he couldn’t even love himself. And you don’t love you either, Maverick.
Maybe this is the universe’s way of telling you that it’s time to heal the parts of you broken over the years by people who were supposed to love you.”

I couldn't not love them. They evoked in me across every part a maelstrom of laughter, softness, anger, betrayal, sadness. So much sadness & heartbreak.

The writing did something rare. It made me feel exactly what I needed to feel at exactly the right moment. It was human and grounded in a way that writing rarely is. I understood Harley's choices and Maverick's. I understood why they did what they did, which is so rare, at least for me. Did I like some of those choices? No. But I got it. I did.

⌜ They were inevitable💙🐚 ⌟™

⌜      "I’ve spent eighteen years doing this back and forth with you, and I don’t want to spend another minute like that,” I said without an ounce of hesitation.
“I don’t want a life that doesn’t have you in it. I never did. I want the good, the bad, and everything in between— whatever life throws at us. I want forever and a day with you, Maverick, and I’m tired of waiting for it. "       ⌟

But I was so happy when they finally got together at the end. Not as two broken boys who thought ignoring their circumstances would help them escape it, but as two healed and healing individuals who could exist and create something beautiful despite everything.

⌜  It had always been him. Through every version of our life, it had always been him.    Every bad decision… every wrong turn… every moment wondering what could have been… it led us to this moment.  Through everything that tried to break us and keep us apart, through all the heartaches and wrong turns…we’d made it.
We’d earned our forever and a day.   ⌟

I was sobbing from beginning to end. And when it was over I just sat with it for a while.

I am going to carry a piece of them with me🐚💙

This was so beautifully written. This story made me feel so many emotions for these two incredible characters.

Maverick and Harley at first glance, they are totally opposite, from where they come from, in personality and class differences. But there is one sad aspect in which they are able to bond, and that is the circumstances in which they are living with their family. These two are carrying so much at such a young age. Mav’s dealing with a very hostile family environment with parents nowhere to be seen, leaving him with an abusive older brother. Harley comes from a wealthy family, but he is being groomed to be a perfect heir to it and is being deprived of loving parents and put under extreme pressure, basically being an empty person just to fulfill a role.

The story being told in four different parts really put into perspective everything they had to endure. But it also makes you see how deeply these two are able to connect and rely on each other despite how they are being forced apart.
From the beginning you can see how a beautiful friendship is formed and how they come to realize the deep feelings they both share.

Each part of this story is filled with many emotions: happiness for how they were able to connect and reconnect, anger for the circumstances in which they were put through, and sadness and hope because despite all of it, they were able to find each other again and again.
They have a very hard-fought HEA. They are not perfect, and even though they always have the best interests for one another, they are bound to hurt each other in the process. The trauma they have endured has taken a toll on them, and fighting all of that and one’s mind is very hard.

Every moment of suffering and many happy encounters have shaped them tremendously; because of that, they have been able to endure so much and put into perspective their feelings and what steps to take for them to actually heal themselves and be together again.
It is done in such a vulnerable way, because to be able to fully love another person, you have to be able to love and focus on yourself first to be fully in a loving and balanced relationship. That is the beautiful journey Mav and Harley had to take to be right back with each other with all their past but with the hope of a forever future.

Overall, this book was such a beautifully written piece, and the way these characters are going to be so deeply close to my heart is just amazing.
They were able to fight their circumstances and sometimes each other to be together. In this path they were also able to find incredible people that were there to support them and also guide them. Such an incredible journey.

I am not sure where to even begin to describe how I feel about this book. This is a story about love, trauma, grief, healing and rebuilding. Told in four parts over the span of 18 years, the story of Harley and Maverick will live in my soul forever.
What stands out the most to me is the connection that Harley and Maverick have, you can feel it. They are inevitable. No matter how dark their worlds get, the love they have for each other is always present. The twists and turns of their relationship will have your emotions running at an all time high with the will they get it right this time!?
Maverick with his beautiful heart and kind soul. He was dealt the worst possible start to life and through a lot of hard lessons, dealing with his anger, sobriety and finally allowing good people in his life is able to rebuild himself into a great man who has so much love to give. The love he has for his found family is so beautifully written. And his love and compassion for Harley is raw, pure and never ending. Not to mention his dirty, dirty mouth too... oh my so hot!!
Harley just wants to be seen and not dismissed. His toxic relationship with his family is so heartbreaking. He is a puppet in his mother's quest for what is proper. He is kind, gentle and the unconditional love he has for Maverick is so consuming. Seeing him work on his anxieties and give himself the grace to allow help and change is amazing. The strength and love he has for his daughter ensuring she has a beautiful childhood filled with happiness is truly heartwarming.

Time & Time Again hands down is one of the best books I have ever read. Harley and Maverick's story is chaotic, messy, heartbreaking, all consuming and never ending. You will laugh, cry, scream and root for them. Not to mention their found family of friends, a sweet little spooky queen of sunshine with her knights of chaos and one crazy pup are perfection!

It's difficult for me to talk about what I loved about Maverick and Harley without giving away spoilers. So, I'm going to try to describe what I loved about this story while also being vague as to not spoil it for someone else.

Maverick and Harley are meant for each other, but since the moment they met they've had an uphill battle with life getting in their way. Anytime they are near each other they get drawn back in, not able to resist the pull of the connection they formed. Even through their heartache, betrayal, secrets, and lies, they still somehow managed to make things work in the end.

I loved how this story showed these two men at different stages in their lives, I thought that was such a beautiful way to write about them and to show how much time passed between each time they met. I also liked how this story focused on the importance of forgiveness and working on yourself. Both of these men had a lot to work through, Harley had to try to unravel all of the destruction his mother caused, while Maverick had to try to untangle the trauma his brother and mother caused him as well as coping with what Harley's mother did as well, along with trying to deal with Harley's betrayal.

I thought all of the stages of their love story was beautiful, sure it didn't work out the first two times they were in each other's orbit, but that last stage? The one where they knew who they were as well as getting to know each other again? That was so profound and immensely beautiful.

I do want to say that I loved the side characters!!! I'm so happy that Maverick got adopted by Millie and her family, and I adored Carson, Aria,(aka Spooky Queen,) Duke, Holly, and Roxy. They were all a blast to read about and I love how they all formed a found family with each other.

All in all, a really beautiful story showing how second and even third chances do happen, and how sometimes it's worth taking a risk.

I'm not crying, you're crying. No, wait, I am crying. Harley and Maverick's story broke my heart, time and time again. Yes, I meant to do that. I knew after the first few chapters that this book was going to break me, in the best ways. I prepared myself with tissues and comfort snacks.

What followed was a story that was filled with so many emotions. Emotions that were strong and screamed to be acknowledged and heard. Emotions that were shut down and caused harm. When we talk about books that have hard fought happy endings, we need to talk about Harley and Maverick's story. Not only do Maverick and Harley have to fight the world for their happy ending, they have to fight themselves. They have to grow, find peace and figure out how to stop causing themselves harm, so they can stop harming each other.

We meet Maverick and Harley when they're in high school. What follows is a story filled with longing, anger, fear and love. Through each phase of their life- the cycle continues. Maverick and Harley cause harm to each other, intentionally and unintentionally. Their pain is real, you will feel it in the pages of their story. Your heart will hurt for them. You will be angry with them at times. You will be angry for them at others. A.Winchester gave us two characters that are perfectly imperfect, and impossible not to love. Even when you want to hate them. You won't.

This book is heavy, it's emotional and I will encourage you to check your triggers. Self care first, and always. A. Winchester gave us a story that is messy, real and heartbreakingly real. The experiences Maverick and Harley experience happen everyday, sadly. They were written to be real, the edges are jagged and sharp, but well written and every moment was thoughtful, even the most painful ones.

Okay this one?? I’m not okay. 😭

This book absolutely wrecked me… do I say thank you or file a complaint? 🫠

Maverick comes from chaos, constantly pulled into things he never should’ve had to carry, while Harley is suffocating under expectations, perfection and slowly disappearing under the weight of who others want him to be.

Maverick becomes the place Harley can finally 𝘣𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘦. The one who quiets the panic, the overthinking, the constant noise in his head. And Harley? He softens something in Maverick that the world tried to harden. He steadies him. Calms the anger. Gives him a kind of peace he’s never known.

But this story doesn’t make it easy for them. 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲. This is love that comes at the wrong time, in the middle of lives that are already breaking. It’s two people who have learned all the wrong things about love and safety and worth… and then having to tear all of that down piece by piece. Watching them hurt, make choices out of fear and survival, and still somehow keep finding their way back to each other… it was 𝒅𝒆𝒗𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈.

There’s so much unlearning in this story. So much pain in realizing the life you’ve been living, the love you’ve accepted, the way you see yourself… isn’t what you deserved. And the way that healing unfolds is not pretty or easy. It’s real and it hurt to witness, in the way that also made something inside me feel seen.

I felt 𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗬𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗚 reading this. Anger. Heartbreak. Frustration. Hope. That quiet, aching kind of healing that sneaks up on you. I cried (yes, in public, embarrassing for me), and I just sat there after finishing it like… what do I even do with all of this??

I don’t have pretty words to wrap this up.
Just… 5 stars. All the feelings. No recovery.

Time & Time Again by A. Winchester was such an emotional and atmospheric read. This story completely pulled me in with its mix of longing, mystery, emotional tension, and the feeling that some connections are simply meant to happen no matter what stands in the way.

The romance felt incredibly genuine and layered, balancing vulnerability with slow-building emotional intensity that made it impossible to stop reading. Every interaction between the characters carried emotional weight, and the connection between them kept growing stronger with every chapter. The writing itself had such a cinematic and immersive feel that it was easy to get completely lost in the story.

What I loved most was how naturally the emotional moments unfolded. The story balances romance, mystery, and emotional growth beautifully while slowly revealing deeper layers of the characters and their connection. It never felt rushed, and the emotional payoff felt earned.

Some of my favorite quotes from the book:

“Some moments feel like they were always meant to find you.”

“Time changes people, but some souls still recognize each other.”

“Loving someone can feel like remembering something you were never supposed to forget.”

The emotional atmosphere of this book stayed with me long after I finished reading. If you enjoy romances filled with emotional depth, mystery, longing, and themes of fate versus choice, this is definitely one to add to your TBR.

“Forever and a day… until they finally get it right.”

Time and Time Again by A. Winchester is one of those stories that doesn’t just hurt—it stays with you. The kind that stretches across years and forces you to sit in every missed chance, every wrong decision, and every moment where love almost wins.

Maverick Fox and Harley aren’t just “right person, wrong time”—they’re every version of it. Teenagers who fall hard, adults who make choices they can’t undo, and two men who keep finding each other at the worst possible moments. Their connection is undeniable… but this story makes one thing painfully clear:

No matter how strong the connection is, you can’t truly love someone until you learn how to love yourself.

And that’s where this book hits different.

Because this isn’t a story where love fixes them. It’s a story where their inability to see their own worth is exactly what keeps breaking them. The generational trauma, the mental health struggles, the self-sabotage—it all feeds into why they can’t hold onto something that, on paper, should’ve been everything.

Maverick shows up in ways that make it impossible not to love him—steady, loyal, intentional. And yeah… when he turns the heat up, that man knows exactly what he’s doing. Harley, though? He’s harder. Messier. But that’s what makes his growth matter. Watching him finally reach a place where he can choose himself—and then choose love—makes the payoff hit so much harder.

The four-part structure works in the book’s favor because you feel the time. You feel the distance. You feel how long it takes for two people to become the versions of themselves capable of actually making it work.

To say I was nervous when starting Time & Time Again was an understatement. I knew going in, that it was going to hurt and I was still not prepared for the emotions I felt throughout this masterpiece.

Spanning over 18 years and told in four different parts, Time & Time Again is the story of Harley and Maverick who have such a beautifully heartbreaking story. Harley and Maverick’s circumstances ripped them apart over and over again. Each time the love between them grew sweeter and sweeter before breaking. In fact, Part 3 was so sweet that the reaction I had to the break was intense. A Winchester’s writing is so phenomenal that it felt like I was right there, experiencing everything Mav and Harley felt during those chapters. My heart was racing throughout the whole book because you just know they are going to be experiencing heartache before it truly gets better.

Then you get to part four and oh my heart, the characters introduced in part four were precious. Aria and Carson are both so sweet in their own different ways. Duke was a hilarious companion for Mav. Both Harley and Mav had people in their lives that were exactly who they needed. I loved getting to see this beautiful relationship grow and change throughout the book, blossoming even more throughout part four. Harley, Mav, and Aria were so sweet and I loved the sweet nicknames between Mav and Aria.

These two were inevitable and it just took a lot of healing to finally get to the place where they could just be. I loved how much growth they achieved in those last 5 years their were separated. That first slip of “Princess” had me melting! I will be thinking about this book for a long time.

This story is told in four parts, following Harley and Maverick at 18, 23, 29, and finally 36.
It hits hard in the best (and worst) ways.

It’s all about meeting the right person at the wrong time… over and over again. 💔
And you keep asking yourself: how can two people who are so clearly meant to be just not make it work?

“We were both products of awful environments, and we were trying to break a cycle determined to destroy us.”

Maverick grows up with nothing, stuck in the shadow of his brother Aidan and just trying to survive the awful things he puts him through. Harley, on the other hand, has money, lot of it, but none of the things that actually matter. His mom wants a strong son to take over the company, not someone she sees as “weak.”

They’re both trying to break free from everything they grew up in. Trying to heal, to grow… and somehow find their way back to each other. But life keeps getting in the way, even when fate keeps bringing them together.

And wow… this story really put me through it.
It’s long, yeah, but it needs to be.
The good, the bad, and the ugly.
And it does get ugly. It’s messy, emotional, and real.

I felt everything. I wanted to scream.
I wanted to punch someone (you know who).
And I cried… like a lot.😭

But part four? That one healed me. Seeing their growth, their maturity, the way everything finally comes together with so much love and understanding… it was perfect.🩷

Infinite stars.✨♥️
Easily one of the best books I’ve read this year.🩷

If you’re looking for a lot of hurt/comfort, right person wrong time, top notch spice.🥵 a lot of love and a crazy 6 year old ( and found family) this one’s for you!

✨ARC Review✨

⭐️ 5/5
🌶️ 3.5/5

Main characters: Harley & Maverick
Side characters: Aiden, Vivienne, Roxy, Holly, Aria
Page count: 721

First person, dual POV.

What an epic tale of love and brokenness and healing. Harley and Maverick have my whole freaking heart. It took them so long to figure their sh*t out, but I’m so glad they did. Of course they were always going to be each other’s end game. It was obvious from the very beginning that they were meant for each other, in a soul mates kind of way. But god, everything was working against them. So many layers of bullsh*t, and awful people harming and abusing them, along with their own bad choices.

Harley, my heart just absolutely broke for him. There is so much nuance to him as a character. A. Winchester was brilliant in her writing of him. Every bit of his brokenness, and the grooming he suffered, was expressed in all the little details of who he was. How he carried himself, how he spoke and communicated, the decisions he made. All these little details were subtle, but were a roadmap to his trauma. Maverick was different, no less brilliantly written, but I found him to be more overt. He expressed himself more freely and at the end of the day he just wanted to be loved and seen and chosen. He was a beautiful character who also suffered through a lot of abuse. But they loved each other fiercely. And while for a lot of the story that simply wasn’t enough, eventually it was.

I loved how this story was told in four parts. Each timeline saw them in distinctly different places in their lives and facing different challenges. The way life had affected them changed and morphed through each timeline as well, which impacted their dynamic each time they were reunited. Part one felt sweet, part two felt spicy, part three felt broken, and part four felt like forever.

Masterful writing, beautiful broken characters, epic love, this one is truly special! 🤍🤍

IN LOVE!!!!!!

I am absolutely in love with this story and these characters. I was giving 5 stars, but I’m deducting 1 for all the things that peeved me. First, Harley was a PITA!!! The first 3 parts, I wanted to punch him. Donkey kicks! So many missed opportunities to just open his freaking mouth! He could have, so many times, just said how he felt but that he was too screwed up to do anything about it. Second, Maverick NEVER told him about his arrest?!?!?!? Are you kidding me?!?!? SUPER mad about that one. Third, the absolute second grandpa died and mommy dearest was out of his way, why didn’t he change his life right then? Write Maverick a letter? Show up and at least TRY?!?!? Sure, healing was probably the right thing to do first, but come on!!!! Tell the man he’s still the love of your life!!! Third, did they never have a birthday?? They didn’t even know each other’s middle names for the first 11 years or something ridiculous. Fourth, there were next to no tears!!!!!! HOW???? I would have been babbling at so many times if I had been either of them. Fifth, HOW was the fact Maverick was Harley’s ONLY not a much bigger deal?!?! I don’t know. I seriously adored 98% of this book, but there were just soooooo many things that seemed unfinished to me. And unlike Maverick, I absolutely NEED closure. BUT, although I found it super strange that their plans seemed to be in the dumbest order, the ending made me very happy. THIS is a perfect example of why my favorite romance novels are MM. Absolutely beautiful!!!
