My new favourite AJ Campbell book!
I feel like I say that with every new release!
I was hooked right from the start. The mystery around the characters and the mysterious text they receive had me so intrigued, then the drama continues with the twists and reveals dropped throughout the book.
It is perfectly crafted, and the ending was absolutely sublime.
Bravo, Amanda!

Atmospheric, Tense and Utterly Captivating!
A.J. Campbell has crafted the ultimate literary jigsaw puzzle.
In this gripping tale, tutor Alice has supposedly taken a break from her life, but is the truth is far more sinister?
Set against the backdrop of the quiet village where Alice grew up, a chilling question looms: is a predator targeting the sick elderly villagers? Opinions are divided.
Told through a shifting kaleidoscope of perspectives, the narrative's momentum is relentless and I was racing through pages faster than a hamster on a wheel.
Just as the pieces began to click, Campbell masterfully pivoted, defying every expectation.
With brilliantly drawn characters and mounting tension, this is a "just one more chapter" kind of read. The bonus chapter provides the perfect, haunting finish to a stellar mystery.
My thanks to A.J Campbell for the privilege of an advance copy. All views expressed are voluntary and my own.

"Twisty, chilling, & intense!”

A. J. Campbell's latest gripping thriller, THE VILLAGE, plunges readers into the heart of Blackstone, a quaint yet enigmatic village where the façade of tranquility hides a dark web of secrets. In this seemingly close-knit community, whispers of gossip and speculation circulate like wildfire, revealing the darker side of human nature.

As a series of puzzling deaths unfold and the long-buried mystery of a past disappearance resurfaces, the tension mounts, leaving the residents—and readers—on edge as they unravel the chilling truths lurking beneath the surface.

Highlights...

At exactly 1:45 PM, three villagers—Faith, Mick, and River— receive an identical text message:

"I know what you did on Valentine’s Day. Alice."

The message refers to Alice, a local girl who vanished without a trace on Valentine's Day several years prior. Before she went missing, she had sent a journalism student to investigate the village's "Angel of Death".

For years, terminally ill villagers in Blackstone have been dying sooner than expected. While some believe it is natural, others suspect a serial killer, nicknamed the "Angel of Death," is operating within the community.

Shortly after the messages arrive, another body appears in the village. As the investigation into Alice's disappearance and the current deaths deepens, it becomes clear that Faith, Mick, and River are all harboring guilt and secrets related to the day Alice vanished.

Justice is coming... and it knows where you live.

My thoughts...

Get ready to be unnerved. Chilling and eerie, THE VILLAGE is intense and creepy, and the author skillfully captures the mysterious village, community setting, its dark history, and the secrets of the past and present.

The mystery of Alice and the "Angel of Death" forms the backbone of the village's dark history. Alice is the catalyst for the entire story. A few years before the book begins, she mysteriously disappeared after an argument with her boyfriend.

Before she vanished, Alice worked at the University and was deeply suspicious of the high death rate in Blackstone. She sent a journalism student to the village to investigate her theory that these deaths weren't natural.

Alice’s disappearance is the "event" that the characters are keeping secret. The themes revolve around the dark undercurrents of a tight-knit community and the psychological burden of past actions.

The three main characters. Faith, Mick, and River are complex, morally gray, and carrying secrets and guilt. Every character is hiding something, making you question everyone.

The past is never truly buried, especially in a small town where secrets act as a slow-acting poison.

The novel explores how a quiet, picturesque community can provide the perfect cover for "monsters," as the familiar faces you trust are often the ones hiding the darkest impulses.

The ongoing whodunit mystery of a local legend, Angel of Death, and whether a mercy killer, a serial killer, or something more sinister.

THE VILLAGE is an unputdownable psychological thriller full of twists, intensity, and turns, that will keep you immersed with the short, snappy chapters and shifting perspectives between the three leading characters that keep you guessing, as each one harbors a different piece of the puzzle they are desperate to keep hidden.

A cautionary tale about how guilt and suspicion can erode a person’s sanity and a community’s foundation from the inside out.

Recs...

If you are a fan of authors Freida McFadden, Daniel Hurst, Shari Lapena, Riley Sager, and Jeneva Rose, you will enjoy AJ Campbell's intricate small-town secrets and the gripping psychological tension of "The Village."

Special thanks to the author and publisher for providing an advanced reading copy in exchange for an honest review.

This book feels like a gripping episode of Criminal Minds! You know that Alice is missing, and the body count keeps rising, but there are no clues to guide you along the way.

A chilling message received by three individuals at 1:45 pm, linked to a past event involving the disappearance of Alice on Valentine's Day. Each recipient, Faith, Mick, and River, harbors a secret interwoven with the dark history of Blackstone village, raising questions about whether Alice's disappearance was voluntary or the result of a malicious act. As another body surfaces, the initially threatening message transforms into a chilling countdown...

The narrative unfolds in a dual timeline, providing insight into both the present events and what transpired two months prior. We experience the story through the perspectives of Faith, Mick, River, and even a serial killer! Yes, we all love a unique viewpoint from a killer, and you won't be able to resist reading this. All the while, it’s a guessing game to uncover the identity of the monster and discover what happened to Alice.

As we explore the lives of these characters more thoroughly, we begin to uncover their flaws and the challenges they encounter. Secrets buried under layers of lies begin to surface. Throughout it all, you can’t help but wonder: where the hell is Alice, and what happened to her? Why isn’t the police force taking action? Why does no one believe Mick? The tension builds, and patience starts to wear thin. With bodies dropping like flies, the villagers remain oblivious to the serial killer among them, I found myself truly concerned!

The story is dark, suspenseful, and vividly described, making it easy to imagine helping those troubled souls find peace. Chilling indeed! I appreciate this book because it resonates with a conversation I recently had with my mom about the struggles of being terminally ill. While we offer relief to animals, humans often suffer until the end. It’s an intriguing theme that fits perfectly since the prologue throws us directly into the action and keeps us engaged till the final page!

This read is perfect for anyone who enjoys piecing together a whodunit without any hints until the very end. It’s for those who relish a distinct serial killer's point of view and for readers who appreciate clever writing where everything falls into place just right. The additional mystery surrounding Alice elevates the experience, as you find yourself lost in darkness, pointing fingers at everyone except where the blame truly lies. This was a hard-to-put-down read! Bravo! Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to check on my friend who’s gone radio silent for a few weeks! Ha!

Thank you, A.J. Campbell for reaching out and providing me with gifted DRC copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This psychological domestic thriller kept me glued to the pages from the prologue, and as a first-time reader of A.J. Campbell's books, I found that this was a solid introduction to her work.

When an ominous message threatens to expose the secrets that River, Faith, and Mick hold surrounding missing local woman Alice, suspicion grows in the tight-knit, idyllic village of Blackstone. After a second body is discovered, confirming the message is a threat, it forces the community to finally confront the truth about Alice’s disappearance.

As a fan of the “quaint-but-creepy” style of domestic thrillers, I thoroughly enjoyed this story, particularly the contrast between its charming setting and the darkness hiding beneath the surface.

The story is structured with short, punchy chapters from multiple perspectives, featuring characters that will have you side-eyeing them with suspicion. It constantly keeps you questioning where the story is heading and who might be responsible, and it’s only when you think you’ve cracked the case that you realise you’ve actually been led completely off track.

The ending reveals were surprising, and while my suspicions were only partly correct, Campbell managed to outsmart me with some unexpected twists. Well played. I’m looking forward to exploring more of this author’s work and would recommend this one to fans of “small town, big secrets” domestic suspense thrillers.

Book Tour

A pacy and twisty psychological thriller that really hooks you in! 😍

This was a brilliant read with an excellent prologue, followed by a trio of intriguing and attention grabbing chapters, that really set the tone of the book. I loved the fast paced nature and how easy this book was to demolish in a few sittings.

Atmosphere is created instantly and I love how Campbell achieved this with the four person POV, the short chapters and a missing character and strange deaths at the book’s core. This read had so many typical thriller qualities and was super engaging.

Maintaining multiple POVs is difficult, but Campbell handles them with ease and I loved how each of the characters individual personalities still shone through. I really liked the secondary characters too which added that extra depth to the story.

I had an inkling about what had happened, but I couldn’t have be more wrong. Campbell unleashes twists and chaos that had me steadfastly turning the pages to snap up the revelations. A big praise for the killer twist in this read that had my jaw dropped.

I loved this read, and thought the ending felt a little bit rushed, but ultimately, this was a fantastic thriller and I wouldn’t expect anything less from Campbell!

A huge thank you @ajcampbellauthor for this ARC and for having me on the Book Tour!

You really should check this read out! 💜

Big thanks to AJ for gifting us a copy to read and review and inviting us to spread the love of your book.
The Village is a thriller that will have you hooked right from the start.
And in true AJ Campbell fashion, nothing is as it seems.
Welcome to the village of Blackstone.
Just after lunch, three people receive a chilling text.
What really happened the day Alice disappeared.
Secrets are in numbers.
Who is watching….
The whispers are starting and then another body is found.
What is really going on……
The tension is building up until the truth is revealed.
A claustrophobic town, an atmosphere of suspicion, an unsettling feeling and the evil that is among them.
This is one of those books that once you start you can’t help but want to finish.
Every character is suspicious and the plot will keep you guessing.
An addictive read.

Thank you to AJ Campbell for the review copy and my spot on this book tour!!

Blackstone is a small village where everyone knows everyone else. Which is why it’s particularly disturbing when Alice vanishes. What’s even more disturbing is the text that Faith, Mick and River receive…”I know what you did on Valentine’s Day. Alice…” Soon another body appears and it becomes clear there is more to this little town…

As someone who lives in a small town, the whole idea of Blackstone village appealed to me. But this story was so much more than that. It grabbed my attention from the beginning, and the tension Campbell setup carried throughout. Told from multiple points of view (including a killer’s), I was eager to see how these perspectives were going to come together. This thriller also was very atmospheric, and Blackstone’s history and “Angel of Death” was just the right amount of eerie and disturbing. My new favorite AJ Campbell book!

“The Village” is out now! This review will be shared to my instagram blog (@books_by_the_bottle) shortly :)

Campbell never disappoints and this one hit all the marks! So many secrets, lies and guilt all wrapped up into the neighborhood of Blackstone. Something about neighborhood drama just hooks me and keeps me reading ahead.

I enjoyed the atmosphere and suspense. Multiple POVs in a thriller always keep me guessing. Also-cheers to short chapters?! They are my absolute favorite. The twists kept coming, it was so fast paced I read it in one sitting. I loved trying to piece together what was going to happen. I am being vague on purpose because I don’t want to spoil anything! Grab this and take it with you to the beach! Thank you @ajcampbellauthor for my copy!

I really wanted to like this book, but it was a struggle from start to finish. The pacing is incredibly slow, and the constant character transitions made it difficult to connect with the story or care about the plot. I kept waiting for it to pick up speed, but it remained flat until the very end. I’m honestly not sure why I pushed myself to finish it—definitely not one I’d recommend.

4.5 stars rounding down to 4 stars on Goodreads.

I knew from the start this this was going to be a fast paced and twisted book! I could not read it fast enough. There were so many curve balls that left my head spinning and I had so many guesses and man was I wrong every time. AJ Campbell has a way with the twists that just slap you in the face and left me gasping at the ending; I just never expected the killer!

If you never read anything by Campbell, this is your sign to start!

Thank you to the author for a copy of The Village. Here are my thoughts!

Three phones suddenly receive a message at the same time: “I know what you did on Valentine’s Day. Alice…”. So begins a thriller surrounding three characters, Mick, Faith and River. But Alice is missing, so who is sending these texts? Meanwhile, someone is acting as an Angel of Death, murdering those that are sick and these three characters are somehow involved.

AJ Campbell never disappoints. This is my third novel that I have read by her, and I always love to try to solve the twists and turns. The chapters are short and the plot moves quickly, just what I love in a thriller. There are several twists and turns, and I enjoyed that the killer also had a few chapters sprinkled in.

Mick, Faith and River are very different characters. Mick is a troubled therapist who is trying to solve his Alice’s disappearance but is making all the worst choices. Faith is trying to write an article or documentary on the Angel of Death and try to prevent more deaths from according. And River had a hard start to life and is trying to overcome her gambling addiction, while not getting herself into more trouble.

These characters provide unique opinions that help to drive the story forward through their own decisions. Add in a handful of memorable other side characters and you’ve got the perfect cast!
If you’re starting to line up those summer thrillers on your TBR, be sure to add The Village. Meanwhile, I will patiently wait for Campbell’s next thriller because I cannot wait!

This is my 2nd book by this author and it did not disappoint!

Faith, an aspiring journalist, has chosen to visit Blackstone to look into a series of unusual deaths that have taken place in the village. However, events take an unexpected turn when her contact, Alice, suddenly disappears, and Faith receives a text message stating, "I know what you did on Valentine's Day. Alice." At the same time, Mick, Alice's boyfriend, and River also receive the same text message. Did Alice disappear because she wanted to, or is there something more sinister going on? What dark secrets is this quaint village hiding?

Told in multiple POVs and dual timelines, this was a gripping read. It grabbed my attention from the very 1st chapter and I had a hard time putting it down. It was filled with tension, mystery, and suspense. The ominous text really set the tone and the atmosphere of Blackstone was everything! This book was dark, well-paced, twisty, and full of small town drama. It was a fantastic psychological thriller that I really enjoyed. I would most definitely recommend it!🩷

At 1:45 pm, three cell phones ping with the same message: I know what you did on Valentine’s Day. -Alice. Each recipient has a reason to be nervous because each has a secret to hide.

If you’ve been with me for the long haul, you know I have read every single AJ Campbell book written. This one is up there as one of my favorites!

I read this in less than a day, riveted from page one. Small town drama? I’m in!

This story was expertly crafted and kept me guessing and second guessing. There was more than just one plot line happening here, and everything worked really well together.

There was one conversation toward the end that I thought was a little awkward, but that's it. That's literally my only complaint.

If you STILL haven't read an AJ book despite me telling you to multiple times, maybe this is your sign?

4.5 rated up

AJ Campbell is not only a master of the "unpredictable thriller," but she is also one of the kindest authors in the community. I will read anything she writes, and her latest, The Village, is no exception.

From the first page, I was completely immersed in the lives of Faith, Mick, and River—I could feel every emotion they felt. The story is set in Blackstone, a small town with those cozy, close-knit vibes where everyone helps their neighbor. But beneath the surface lurks a chilling legend: The Angel of Death. This figure preys on the elderly and the terminally ill, ending their lives early under the guise of "mercy." When Faith and her boyfriend, Finn, arrive to research the legend, things take a personal turn. Faith’s tutor, Alice, suddenly vanishes. While messages from Alice continue to reach her family, those who truly know her realize something is deeply wrong.

This book has it all: tension, high-stakes drama, and my personal favorite—short, punchy chapters! It is the perfect fast-paced read. I spent the entire book trying to stay one step ahead of the plot, but AJ proved me wrong every single time. If you want a twisty, emotional ride, I highly recommend giving this author a try. Thank you to the author for the opportunity to read an early copy. All opinions are my own!

The Village is a breading ground for rumors. The Angel of Death is a common subject in all the gossip. Is there any truth to the rumors?

I really enjoyed this one. It starts off strong and makes you desperate to know what happened on Valentine’s Day. How are these people linked? We get alternating points of view the whole book that leave us wondering just how it’s all going to piece together at the end. The suspense was killing me. As it slowly came together, I was left shocked. I didn’t see any of it coming. Another excellent book by A J Campbell

This book completely hooked me from the start and did not let go.

The Village is dark, tense, twisty, and full of that eerie small-town atmosphere where everyone is hiding something. I loved how the story slowly unraveled the mystery of Alice’s disappearance while the tension kept building with every chapter.

The multiple POVs and shifting perspectives made it really engaging, and I was constantly second-guessing myself. Every time I thought I had it figured out, the story took another turn.

A chilling, addictive psychological thriller that I would definitely recommend.

When Faith, who is studying Journalism arrives in Blackstone village with her boyfriend Finn she is struck by the disquieting atmosphere of the place. It doesn’t feel quite right but that may be because she has come there to do some research into the rumours that several years ago a number of the older inhabitants with terminal illnesses passed away much sooner than expected and this was suspected by some to be the work of the Angel of Death.

Of course, some in the village were highly sceptical and thought this a load of nonsense but for others there seemed to be some truth in the rumours. Faith has been told about this by her university tutor Alice Sinclair who was brought up in the village and has also researched the possibility of there being a so called Angel of Death, someone who at the end of life helps to bring a swifter end to the pain. Alice’s research brought no real conclusion as to whether the rumours were true.

However, Alice mentions to Faith that there have been several incidents recently where terminally ill villagers have died seemingly too early and suggests that this may be an interesting investigation for her next assignment. In Blackstone Faith and Finn, who is with her to film the area, speaks to Winnie, Alice’s grandmother, who talks about the village and the rumours. Recently, one of the possible victims of the Angel of Death was Winnie’s neighbour whose poor husband is so haunted by her death that he takes his own life during the weekend that Faith and Finn are in the village. Faith’s interest is piqued and she returns to university determined to pursue the story further but when she goes to meet Alice for her next tutorial, Alice is not there and a replacement tutor tells her that Alice has temporarily gone away.

Alice’s disappearance also comes as a shock to her partner Mick. Alice does not return from a spa weekend away with her best friend Miranda and as there seems no logical reason for Alice’s disappearance all of Mick’s insecurities come to the surface. Has Alice come to some harm or has she left him?

In Mick’s capacity as a counsellor, he takes on a new client, River whose parents have told her to seek help for her problems. As it emerges that River also comes from Blackstone, as does Miranda, Alice’s best friend, Mick finds himself drawn back towards Blackstone to try and find out what has actually happened to Alice and why she has left him.

I really enjoyed the twists and turns of The Village and how the various characters dove tailed as there became one common purpose; to find Alice and to either confirm or deny the existence of the Angel of Death. This story was skilfully told and has some really strong female characters. I found River’s story particularly compelling as she is getting deeper and deeper into trouble and being so secretive with her parents. As Faith tries to find out more about Alice’s disappearance and moves to Blackstone to stay with Winnie, finding work at the local cafe, her worries about her relationship with Finn are palpable. The mystery of Alice’s disappearance kept me guessing. I loved it as I was often taken down the wrong path in this atmospheric tale which really added to the excitement and anticipation of such a climatic ending. Thanks to the author for an ARC of this latest gripping psychological thriller.

AJ Campbell never disappoints me with any of her books, and this one was no exception. Another great gripping read that I struggled to put down and was obsessed with. I don’t think I have ever read a book as fast as I sped through this one! Totally deserving 5 star rating for this brilliant twisty cleverly written book.

When all of Blackstone's village come together to mourn the loss of one of their own residents; at the wake, three different people get exactly the same text message- “I know what you did on Valentine's Day… Alice”. This throws the three people receiving the message into tailspins. Before this latest death there has been a spectre of death over the village for many years with residents dying before their time, the village gossips dubbed this spectre “The Angel of Death” but all investigations turned up nothing. However suddenly it seems right now, at this very wake, the residents of Blackstone are about to get some answers all starting with what exactly did happen on Valentine's Day!!

Well, this was one gripping addicting read from AJ Campbell! She sure knows how to pull in a reader right from the prologue and keep them turning pages until the very end of the book. At the start I was a little worried I wouldn’t be able to keep track of all the characters, but AJ Campbell wove them so well into the plot it wasn’t a problem at all. I had absolutely no idea who the “Angel of Death” was, sometimes I have inklings about characters or at least some idea of who the “baddie” might be but with this book, I had no clue, which I loved, and it kept me guessing right until the very end. The whole tone of the book suited the story so well, you could feel how suffocating the village was in how suspenseful and tense the read was and I definitely felt the creepy vibes in the village through the reading. I admired one of the characters for actually moving into the village in pursuit of the possible journalistic story because there’s no way I would have gone anywhere near it with the reputation it had!

Overall, another brilliantly twisty read as I have come to expect from all of AJ Campbells books. In my opinion her books just seem to get better and better and I can’t wait to see what she writes next. I wholeheartedly recommend this one for any fans of the psychological thriller genre, you will not be disappointed! A very much deserved 5 star rating!

Thank you to AJ Campbell for my advanced reading copy. Out 25th March 2026.

An ARC I received from A.J Campbell and the second book I've read from her so far. This was a fab read, it was full of twists and turns and left me shocked with everything once revealed I did not see that ending coming at all.

I found all the characters to be well-written and relatable, while thinking how do they all fit together and have to do with it all, their individual story throughout also help add everything together while also making you feel for them all. We follow the different POVs from the characters which was easy to follow and keep track what was going on. All the other characters you meet along the way you can't help but remember and get your own thoughts on what you think of them, and trust me there are characters you will love and ones you instantly feel iffy or a bad vibe of.

Synopsis

Justice is coming... and it knows where you live.

At exactly 1:45 pm, three phones buzz with the same message: I know what you did on Valentine's Day. Alice...

Faith sees it first. Mick sees it next. River sees it last.

Each recipient carries a secret from the day Alice vanished, secrets entwined with the whispers of Blackstone, a village where death is never as simple as it seems.

So, did Alice disappear by choice? Or has she fallen victim to a killer with a twisted idea of mercy?

Someone has been watching. Someone knows.

And when another body appears, it's clear the message is more than a threat - it's a countdown.

Overall I was truly hooked from this book from that start, starting out as being my book to read on my break at work soon turned into a less then 24hrs of reading to finish as I just couldn't put it down and wanting to find out what comes next. Campbell writing is compelling and really get your guessing who it can be, but where you think you have figured out the suspect from all the clues you are soon left mouth open shocked as it wasn't even a person on the list.

I really like how this also focus on how gossips through a small village can hold a lot of power, but also when a village like this is left threaten and find out the truth come together to offer the support that is needed. I would definitely recommend this book and I feel very honoured to be able to read this before release date, as truly there is something so additive about Campbell writing and I look forward to my next read.

The Village by A.J. Campbell

So… I picked this up thinking I’d “just read a few chapters.”
Cute. Delusional.

I inhaled this book like a sleep-deprived gremlin with zero self-control and a questionable need for emotional damage. One sitting. No breaks. No regrets. Not even a little.

The pacing? Finally, something that understands me. Not dragging its feet like it’s got all the time in the world, but also not sprinting past the good stuff. It moves. It knows when to push and when to let the tension sit there, staring at you like it knows something you don’t.

And the setting? A small town. Of course. Because nothing says “we’re all fine here” like a place drowning in secrets and side-eyes. Honestly, this village has more hidden agendas than a government meeting and twice the trust issues.

You’ve got trauma trying to justify bad decisions, betrayal wrapped in excuses, grief that lingers in all the wrong places, and manipulation that makes you question literally everyone. Including yourself. Love that for us.

Oh—and the whole “angel of death” thing? Yeah. That little detail just casually sits there messing with your head the entire time. Real? Not real? I’m not telling you. I have standards. Suffering builds character.

The ending?
Rude.

I didn’t fully see it coming. My inner detective managed one weak little “aha” moment and then immediately got humbled. Which, honestly, fair. It was satisfying in that slightly twisted way where you close the book and just sit there like… wow, okay, I’ve been played.

Only reason it’s not a full five stars? I missed that deeper connection with some characters. I wanted to crawl inside their heads, live there rent-free, feel everything. Instead, I was watching from a distance. Safe? Sure. But also… less painful. And apparently I don’t read for comfort.

So yeah—four and a half “question your entire moral compass” stars.

If you like secrets, messy motives, choices that make you go “this is a terrible idea” while turning the page anyway, and a story that quietly ruins your trust in humanity…

Congrats. This is your next bad decision.

Grab a blanket. Your emotional support chaos.
And don’t expect to get off the ride early.

Here is my review for The Village by AJ Campbell

I was totally addicted to this brilliantly twisted gripping psychological suspense thriller that I just couldn’t put down. Three phones buzz at 1.45pm with the same message, ‘I know what you did on Valentine's Day. Alice’ Faith sees it, then Mick and River sees it last. All the recipients have a secret to hide from that day and they relate to a village called Blackstone where whispers abound about an Angel of Death where people are dying. So has Alice disappeared by choice? Or has she met a killer? This was a superbly written story that was excellently plotted and extremely well thought out. I believe the author did extensive research before writing this story as the information contained within confirms this and adds to the depth of the story. The quality of the characters was superb and they are very well described, even their habits. The scene setting is succinct and the descriptive writing sets the rest as everything is described in great detail. The suspense is crafted well into the story. It's multiple povs and those are the types of story I absolutely love to read. The synopsis is superbly drafted and I loved it. I loved reading this intriguing psychological story and was hooked right from the very start of the book.

Thank you to the author for the opportunity to be on this tour. I look forward to reading more of her books in the future.

Blurb :

A psychological suspense thriller, packed with twists and turns, perfect for readers of Frieda McFadden, Harlan Coben, Linwood Barclay, Lisa Jewell, Shari Lapena, Maria Frankland, Daniel Hurst, and Adele Parks.

*BOOK BLITZ REVIEW*

'Justice is coming and it knows where you live'

If you are seeking a book that captivates from the get go, fills you with tension and suspense and is utterly atmospheric.... look no further!

Under a facade of peace and tranquility, the quaint village of Blackstone is a place that is shrouded in deep, dark secrets. Secrets that are worth keeping at any cost!

Several years ago on valentines day, local resident and University tutor Alice disappeared, seemingly vanishing without a trace. Surely someone must have seen or heard something? But the trail goes cold, life moves on and the village settles back down to normal village life, full of gossip, speculation and rumours a plenty.

Before her disappearance, Alice had been in contact with a journalism student, suspicious of the number of deaths in Blackstone she asks them to look into the village's 'Angel of Death'. For many years, terminally ill village residents have been dying a lot earlier than expected. Some think it's just natural causes whilst others think there is a serial killer at play, aptly named the 'Angel of Death'.

Now in the present day, at exactly 1.45pm, three people, Mick who was Alice's partner, River & Faith the journalist, all recieve the same text message. "I know what you did on Valentines Day. Alice" Each recipient hides a secret from the day that Alice vanished but who knows what they are hiding?

Not long after the messages are received another body is found.

The pacing is perfectly kept throughout, not letting you rest until the very last word.

The characters were extremely well written, relatable and were so easy to visualise, as was the setting. That is always a massive plus for me, I love nothing more than being able to picture the scene play out in my own mind and this story was particularly easy to do so and I really loved the strong female characters in this plot, especially River and her own backstory.

As for the ending... I did not see that one coming.

Eerie, intense, compelling, full to the brim with twists and turns and utterly unputdownable!

Huge thanks to Amanda for the invitation to be one of the lucky group who got to read an advanced copy!
