Come on in Carrion is hungry

Reese was supposed to be attending the carnival with her boyfriend except he broke up with her. I mean apparently he was boring in bed so doesn't seem like a bad thing. Lol.

She decides she is still going to go. Maybe she will find some easy fun for the night.

She is drawn to tunnel of love. However, no one wants to be alone on this ride. So when the gorgeous ride operator offers to go with her she figures why not. Plus he seems interested so maybe they will have some fun.

Shudders...that wasn't exactly the ride she had in mind. This one is definitely an erotic horror and not for the easily disgusted.

She definitely gets the ride of her life...

A girl trying to get over a breakup by her cheating boyfriend. A carnivale that's pure evil. What horrors await Reese on her journey through the infamous tunnel of love? This short but powerful novella gives you a glimpse into the evil that drives this cursed carnivale. I absolutely inhaled this in a short sitting.

Tropes and Triggers: bet/dare, call to adventure, demonic creatures, monsters, pitch black, magic, pure evil

I was given an advanced copy and this is my honest review.

ARC Disclaimer 🖤🎪

Ingested focuses on our FMC, Reese, and our MMC, Carrion.

The Tunnel of Love gets a whole new gory twist in this quick but intense novella.

Lots of spice, hunger, and a touch of "what the fuck" definitely had me grimacing but in a good way.

This is definitely erotic horror but written well and man....poor Reese. Don't always fall for the dreamboat.

Disclosure: I received a complimentary eARC of Ingested by Indigo Queen in exchange for an honest review.

Ingested by Indigo Queen is a horror novella releasing as part of The Colony Carnivale shared world. The story follows Reese, fresh from a painful breakup, who visits the mysterious Colony Carnivale looking for a simple night of escape. Instead, she meets Carrion—a dangerously charming ride operator who invites her onto the tunnel of love. But once the doors close, the ride begins to breathe, the walls pulse, and Reese realizes that Carrion’s hunger isn't just poetic. (Note: This is a pitch-black horror novella, not a romance, and does not contain a happily ever after!)

Queen builds an initial atmosphere that feels suspiciously eerie yet disguised as ordinary carnival fun, but the moment the ride starts, the tension immediately skyrockets. While Reese is curious, she is also undeniably naive and Carrion is deceptively sweet. The execution is breathtaking. The narrative brilliantly weaves Reese's recent heartache and a hypnotic carnivale delirium into her sudden, intense succumbing to desire during the tunnel of love ride—making the shifting environment all the more chilling.

The horror elements are genuinely freaky and relentless. Queen delivers a masterclass in body horror and gore that will legitimately make your stomach turn. The final chapter—where seduction transforms into literal ingestion, trapping Reese as a permanent part of the ride to watch Carrion lure his next victim(s)—is horrific, bleak, and completely unforgettable.

Ingested is a fantastic, macabre treat for horror fans. If you love dark shared worlds, deceptive monsters, and heavy body horror, this is an unmissable read.

"Ingested" by Indigo Queen is a 5-star erotic horror! Reese was just dumped by her boyfriend and decides to go to the Colony Carnivale looking for the attention she desires. Carrion is the handsome man in charge of operating the Tunnel of Love. Can Carrion give Reese what she is looking for?

The chapters alternate between the perspectives of the two main characters. This is another very short novella, but it has everything we have come to love about this series. The Tunnel of Love starts off just as you would imagine a ride like that would, but it quickly becomes a twisted version of what you might find at a typical carnival. Even though we were told from the beginning that this is not an HEA (I mean, did we really think there would be one in this series?), it still took a turn that I was not expecting.

Indigo Queen delivers another great addition to this series, and I look forward to seeing what comes next in this dark and twisted world!

Thanks to Indigo Queen for providing me with the opportunity to read this ARC and share my honest review.

✨ ARC REVIEW ✨

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

I am reading this series as a set of ARCs.
They are all part of a shared Carnivale world and do have quite a few trigger warnings, so please check these before you dive in!

This read was a short read, however, it was still packed full of Carnivale madness.. and a (healthy) sprinkle of spice.

Reece, the FMC, finds herself alone in the Carnivale after being dumped, what she assumed was a cheesy boat ride in the tunnel of love, turns out to be more than she bargained for!

I loved this read! It was refreshing to see another take on the Carnivale, and another character that wonders the grounds.
The MMC, Carrion was a very interesting character, i would like to find out more about his character, maybe he will make an appearance in future reads.

That ending though!! 🤯 that was not what i was expecting!

Lets find out what the next one has in store 🎪

Short and delicious 😋 Carrion operates the Tunnel of Love at the Colony Carnaval. But it's not what it seems as Reese found out.

I absolutely loved the rooms, and the build up to the last one! Very good short read for Halloween season.

I received this Pre-release Copy as part of The Colony Carnaval reader team. My honest review is posted voluntarily.

Oh yeah, entirely what the fuck was this? I mean that statement in the most awestruck way ever. This one was gross and depraved but so hot and tickled that dark little pit in my brain. Absolutely without any amount of question, please read the triggers for this because it goes there. Where is there? Well technically, the Tunnel of Love but love it does not....

This book is dark erotic horror at its absolute finest lush, primal, and utterly intoxicating! The story follows Reese, fresh off a breakup and looking for release, who gets on the Tunnel of Love ride at the Carnivale. Enter Carrion, the beautiful ride operator whose hunger for her is far more literal than she ever expected.

This book gave me MAJOR sexy, gory Hannibal Lecter vibes. It isn't a traditional love story and there is no HEA it’s a slow, sinister seduction where desire, hunger, and ultimate demise blur together in the most exquisite way. Indigo Queen's writing wraps around you like smoke and shadow beneath blood-red skies. You'll never look at a Tunnel of Love the same way again!

Ingested is another absolutely twisted, disturbing and deliciously fucked-up addition to The Colony Carnivale, and HOLY SHIT, this one is NOT for the faint-hearted!!

Poor Reese!! Girl just wanted a night out to forget about her breakup, maybe have a little fun, and instead she ends up with CARRION!! 😈🖤

And Carrion?! OMG!! Charming, seductive, mysterious and giving off ALL the wrong vibes, but somehow you just know you’d probably follow him into that damn tunnel of love anyway!! 😂🔥

Can we just talk about that TUNNEL OF LOVE?! Because WHAT THE HELL!! 😳 A romantic little swan boat ride turning into an absolute nightmare of pulsing walls, burning water and a hunger that is so much more sinister than you could ever imagine!!

The atmosphere was suffocating, the imagery was disgustingly brilliant, and the whole time I was thinking RUN REESE, RUN!! Except where the hell are you supposed to run when the nightmare is literally surrounding you?!

I absolutely LOVE how every author brings their own special brand of insanity to The Colony Carnivale, and Indigo Queen definitely delivered!! The body horror, the dread, the twisted characters and that constant feeling that something is VERY VERY WRONG!!

And don’t go into this expecting some sweet little dark romance with a happily ever after because BABY, THIS IS HORROR!! There are no Prince Charmings waiting to save you here!! 😂💀

Dark, grotesque, unsettling and completely addictive!! I devoured this novella, which feels like a VERY unfortunate choice of words considering what happens in this book!! 😂🖤

Consumed, body, soul, and every dark craving in between!

Indigo Queen swallows you whole with Ingested, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. From the moment you step beneath those blood red skies, the Carnivale wraps around you like smoke and shadow, hungry, beautiful, and impossible to shake off.

There’s something so primal, so visceral about this entry. It lives right in that delicious, dangerous space where hunger and desire blur into one, where being devoured feels like the ultimate surrender.

The writing is lush, lyrical, and utterly intoxicating; every line hums with that signature Carnivale magic dark, seductive, and steeped in the knowledge that once you enter, you belong to it.

The games are cruel, the prizes come at a cost you can’t afford to pay, and the performers? They’re not quite human, and neither are the appetites driving them. Lust, power, revenge, fear. The Carnivale feeds on them all, and Ingested lets you feel every pulse of that ravenous heartbeat.

No blurb is needed, the atmosphere alone tells you everything you need to know!! This isn’t just a show. It’s a hunger. And it will eat you alive in the most exquisite way.

If you thought the series couldn’t get more intense, think again. Ingested is dark erotic horror at its absolute finest. I devoured it, every delicious line💀🖤

Well, that certainly puts a whole new meaning to the Tunnel of Love! 😳

Reese is fresh out of a breakup and looking for a little distraction at the Colony Carnivale. Enter Carrion, the charming ride operator who seems more than willing to give her exactly what she's looking for. Unfortunately for Reese, what she wants and what she's about to get are two VERY different things.

What starts out as a little dark temptation quickly turns into something downright disturbing. The atmosphere, the body horror, and the way something as innocent as a carnival ride becomes an absolute nightmare made this one a fun, twisted read.

I really enjoyed how the horror builds as the story progresses. There's something especially unsettling about realizing you're trapped somewhere that should be completely harmless, especially when the person beside you might be the most dangerous part of the entire experience.

And Carrion? Let's just say his appetite is a little more complicated than your typical carnival food cravings.

Another deliciously disturbing addition to the Colony Carnivale! Not every Tunnel of Love leads to romance, and some rides are better left alone. 🎟️

⚠️ Check your trigger warnings! This one includes erotic horror and body horror, and don't go looking for a happily ever after because you won't find one here!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 Stars!

Reese went to the Carnivale to get her mind off a breakup, and somehow managed to trade relationship problems for a whole new level of nightmare fuel. Girl, the universe really said, “You thought you were having a bad day? Hold my drink.” 🤣🎪🖤

Carrion definitely knows how to make an impression, and that tunnel of love sounds like the kind of place where every single warning sign should have been taken seriously. What starts out feeling seductive quickly turns into something much more disturbing, and I loved how the atmosphere shifts as the ride becomes increasingly terrifying.

The creepy setting, the unsettling details, and the way Carrion’s hunger becomes something far more literal made this such a twisted little read. There’s something especially disturbing about being trapped somewhere that should be romantic and realizing you’re actually in danger. The Carnivale really has a talent for turning an innocent attraction into something you might never recover from. 👀

I also appreciated knowing this wasn’t going to be a sweet romance with a pretty little bow tied around the ending. This is horror, and it sounds like the story knows exactly what kind of experience it’s delivering.

Four stars from me! Another dark, disturbing trip into The Colony Carnivale, where apparently even a tunnel of love can turn into your worst decision ever. 😂🖤🎪

This was a very engaging read. Reese and Carrion were definitely very interesting characters. I loved the reveal at the end about the tunnel of love and the faces within it. I thought it was so interesting. The writing was really great in the story and it’s definitely one of my favorites so far. I definitely will be adding this author on my TBR list.

This book really knows how to pull you in and keep you hooked from beginning to end! I found myself completely caught up in the story, questioning what was going to happen next with every turn of the page. Just when I thought I had something figured out, the story had me second-guessing everything! 😂👀

The suspense, uncertainty, and anticipation kept me on edge the entire time. I loved how the author managed to make me question so many things while constantly wondering what was coming next. It definitely kept my mind racing and made it difficult to put the book down!

And can we talk about that ride?! 😳😂 I was NEVER a fan of it to begin with, but after reading this book, I can confidently say you will NEVER catch me stepping anywhere near it! NO THANK YOU! 🤣💀

Overall, this was such an entertaining, suspenseful read that kept me guessing and had my imagination running wild. If you enjoy books that mess with your head, keep you questioning everything, and leave you a little more terrified of something you already didn’t trust, this one is definitely worth picking up! 🖤📚

This was a great addition to the Colony Carnivale series. In this story we are introduced to Carrion, and we find out what his part is in the production.

At first I wasn't sure what the angle was on his character. He runs a defunct looking version of the Tunnel of Love ride, but of course being the Carnivale, you know it's going to be anything but that.

Once he has Reese in his clutches, you start to see how things are going to go very wrong, very quickly. Their is no pretense as to what the horror is once you see it, and honestly it leaves you questioning (at first) how Reese is able to give a first person narration when you can't possibly see her making it out.

Tunnel of Love… (I think NOT) 🎪🎡🎠

🎡TRIGGER / CONTENT WARNINGS🎡
Please make sure you take heed to the TW’s before reading all books in this series!

🎟️ BOOK 13 IN THE SERIES 🎟️

When Reese bumps into Carrion at the “Tunnel Of Love” all bets are off and he’s takes her on a ride she will never forget…. Literally.

We have Reese whose ex-boyfriend broke up with her because he didn’t want to stay monogamous any longer. They were supposed to go to the Carnivale together, but since they split, Reese decides to go alone.

Poor poor Reese, I know we all do wild things without thinking when we’re fresh out of a breakup, but this poor girl got more than she asked for while visiting the Colony Carnivale.

Absolutely loved this one, though it’s a short novella, it still sucks you in and keeps you there until the very end, and the ending truly leaves you with your jaw dropped. I was NOT expecting that. Well done author! Well done!

Check TWs to read to your comfort level.

This one gutted me but it also was my favorite of the series so far. Reese went looking for something at the Carnivale -- to be seen, loved, appreciated. She went to the tunnel of love, meet Carrion, and he promised all of that to her, she just had to ask for it. What he didn't say was that his gift had an expiration date. He delivered on his promise, but he was no nonchalant and cavalier during the ride while distracting her with pleasure when she had periods of clarity to her surroundings.

The dual POV was on point -- I truly felt Reese's slow descent into confusion. Not sure she was accepting of her fate at the end of the ride, but she did have a first-hand view to what came next.

Body horror galore in the Tunnel of Love. This was such a fun, twisted story but what do you expect from the Carnivale? The setting is surprisingly not in the Delirium Tent but instead all in the Tunnel of Love. Carrion runs the ride and is all for his next victim.

Reese is heartbroken after a recent break up and Carrion only wants to help her succumb to her darkest fantasies. As the Carnivale family knows though all desires answered come with an unexpected price. Reese will be seen and devoured in more ways then she ever imagined... and in ways she never asked for that will be permanent.

If you are looking for a wicked ride filled with gruesome body horror and a pretty wicked Carnie then I recommend Ingested. Until next time, happy reading!

I love the way this author describes the ride. In my head I can imagine it all and I think this is the first one out of the series the ride is alive too! For this one being a short story it really holds a punch! I would like to see what else this author has to bring to the table.

Girl, you went to the Carnivale to get over a breakup and ended up in the TUNNEL OF LOVE with Carrion? Reese, what the actual fuck?!

I really liked the whole concept of this one. The Tunnel of Love sounds innocent enough, but we all know nothing at this Carnivale is ever that simple. The further Reese gets into the ride, the more fucked up things become.

And Carrion? That man is something else.

There's something about him that's both intriguing and creepy as hell. Reese even notices that things aren't quite right, but she lets her curiosity get the better of her.

The body horror in this one was seriously something, and I wasn't expecting things to go quite the way they did.

It's a short read, but it definitely delivers on the horror and the fucked-up Carnivale vibes.

Reese is looking for an escape after a breakup, and when she meets Carrion, the ride operator offers to join her on the tunnel of love. But this ride is nothing like you would ever imagine, and Carrion’s hunger is definitely not for the food you’d think.

Indigo Queen’s descriptions make you feel like you’re right there on the ride with Reese, and let me tell you, you might want to think twice before hopping on this swan boat! The atmosphere is creepy, twisted, and unsettling, and things get wild the deeper you go.

This is another dark and disturbing addition to the Colony Carnivale, and if you’re a horror lover who enjoys being taken on a seriously twisted ride, this one is for you. Just remember, this is horror, NOT romance, so don’t expect a happily ever after!

Ingested by Indigo Queen is another deliciously twisted addition to The Colony Carnivale collection. This installment takes a familiar carnival attraction and gives it a wonderfully disturbing spin. I enjoyed the eerie atmosphere and the way the story blends temptation, danger, and the unexpected into a quick, entertaining read.

At just 47 pages, Ingested doesn’t waste much time getting into the strange and unsettling world of the Carnivale. There’s a nice balance of spice and horror, with enough bizarre moments to keep things interesting. I appreciated the creativity behind this one, and it was a fun reminder that you never quite know what you’re getting into when you visit The Colony Carnivale.

Book 13 of The Colony Carnivale horror series. Beware there's triggers

Another exceptional instalment of the dark erotic horrors of the freaks of the carnival was that I was captivated by this gripping thriller.

After a breakup from a relationship, Reese visits the Carnivale and is enticed into the Tunnel of Love by Carrion, the good-looking operator, and she a strong attraction to him, they ride together.
Carrion is more than willing to give Reese everything she desires. His touch is electrifying, and she is desperate for his attention.
The tunnels are breathing, they are watching, and Reese gets a feeling of dread.

This was a wickedly twisted mix of dark romance, horror, and irresistible temptation! Reese enters the Colony Carnivale hoping to escape her heartbreak, but instead finds herself drawn to Carrion, a dangerously charming ride operator with an appetite that goes far beyond desire.

The tunnel of love takes on a whole new meaning as passion turns into a terrifying nightmare. The creepy atmosphere, monstrous hunger, and dark chemistry make this story both disturbing and captivating.

Perfect for readers who enjoy possessive monsters, twisted romance, creepy carnival vibes, and a delicious dose of horror. At the Colony Carnivale, love isn't always sweet—sometimes it has teeth! 🖤🎡

That was a quick ride but man it was interesting! This is on Tunnel of Love ride you won't leave 😈. I'd dare to Carrion a siren, the way he lured Reese in. But she was already so broken hearted it probably wouldn't take any carnie at the carnivale to lure her in. There's no HEA in this one, so don't look for it. This was pure, primal need for survival and Carrion's hunger as a..whatever supernatural he is, was satisfied. Reese, however, becomes part of the Tunnel of Love 🤷🏽‍♀️. Its the Colony after all, they need to feed and there's no guarantee you'll leave once you walk through it's gates... Thank you @indigoqueenwrites for the privilage to be part of your ARC team!

This was a sexy gory Hannibal lector type book I was so here for everything Carrion was doing to Reese really set herself up with his man and he did this as slow as possible he knew her desires was going to get away with her judgment and she did not listen to the mirrors look or listen look at the mirrors around her and what make this more sinister she knew something was up but she just let her desires win and take over and she got her demise in the end and this was a 10 out of 10 loved it 😈🖤

⚠️These set of books are extremely dark and I would like to give you the warning to check your triggers as some of this might not be for you! ⚠️

I really enjoyed it, I also didn't expect this to be what it is. So ingested is different from what I expect this follow Carrion and Reese. Reese, she just needs a release. Someone to see her. To devoured her. She didn't know what she was signing up for when the man who looked hungry for her on this Tunnel of Love ride, wasn't actually just wanting a taste 🥵
