When a brilliant billionaire heiress is handed one last chance to save her career, she never expects her greatest rival to be the man standing in her way—her brother’s best friend.
Gabriel Valor is devastatingly confident, ruthlessly controlled, and the head of a company that threatens everything Eliza has built. Their professional rivalry is fierce, personal, and painfully public—but the chemistry between them is anything but professional.
As Eliza’s reputation begins to unravel, dismantled by invisible errors and quiet betrayals, she realizes someone is sabotaging her work. The closer she gets to the truth, the more isolated she becomes. And the last man she should want is the one who sees everything she’s trying to hide.
Gabriel works beside her every day. He sees her brilliance, her fear, her fight—and finds himself wanting to protect her, even when she refuses to be saved.
What begins as tension sharpens into something far more lingering looks, stolen touches, and a desire that refuses to stay contained. Forced into close proximity by a high-stakes contract neither can walk away from, sharp negotiations turn into whispered challenges and near-miss kisses that blur the line between hatred and hunger.
As betrayal closes in and silence becomes a weapon, Gabriel must decide how far he’s willing to go to protect her—and whether loving her is worth risking everything he’s built.
Because losing control is a risk. Losing her would destroy him.
What is going on in this book? I'm asking seriously, I am so lost.
I usually go for "blind reads" so I just checked and this is book 3 in a series. So, hopefully, those who have read the first 2 books know what is happening.
This story starts off with the FMC randomly saying how this meeting must go well or she'll lose her job. But the MMC (her boss?) gives her more responsibility in the meeting, trusts her skills, and doesnt seem to have been considering letting her go.
Then randomly it's dropped in that they had some competitions in school which have no relevance to the conversation and no context. I'm not sure if this was a callback to other books.
It is mentioned that the MMC bought 50% of this company for her. Why? What is the company? What do they do? Is she a super developer or an accounts person or another title? What is the point of all the paragraphs of business related jargon? Why is her brother so suspicious and cryptic? Who is her hacker friend that is randomly mentioned once?
What. Is. This. About?
Anyway, the characters seem good. I am just so lost that I am DNF'ing at 40%.
I'm sure if I'd started at book 1 it would be fine
A very good story with depth. Eliza Reeves and Gabriel Valor are frenemies, her brother is his best friend, but someone is sabotaging her work and they both need to get to the bottom of it while fighting their attraction towards each other. I absolutely loved the heat between Elizabeth and Gabriel, they pretended to hate each other but deep down. They had a deep love and respect. When Eliza’s work is being sabotaged, right in front of their eyes, Gabriel and Eliza are both working hard to discover who is behind at all and when they find out who it is, they set out to close the trap and save Eliza’s position in the company. But finally at the end, they were able to show each other how they felt and the love kept them going to their own version of happily ever after.
I was given an advanced copy of this book to read and I am reviewing with my honest and fair opinion.
Wanting a Partnership Not Protection - If you are looking to read a gripping romance story, that is frustrating and infuriating, but also passionate and steamy, then look no further than this book. The story grabbed my attention from the beginning and laid bare the raw emotions of the Gabriel and Eliza, who had to deal with a lack of trust issue, investigate a professional threat and a betrayal from a least expected individual, whilst navigating their growing feelings and try to maintain a professional relationship in the office. You will definitely not regret the time spent reading this engaging and entertaining book.
I received an advanced review copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Dangerously Aligned by Claire Angel is the story of Gabriel and Eliza. They’re enemies, but she works for/with him? She’s smart, confident, and makes no mistakes in her work…until she does…and no one knows who or what is causing it…
Thoroughly LOVED this story!!! I like that the FMC is strong, determined, smart, and competent. But, also realizes that she can rely on someone else when she needs help. Gabriel is determined, strong, and smitten….with Eliza. But, they have to find the culprit before someone gets hurt….Great read!!!
Arc review For a honest review in my own words on a book I read. As Eliza is being sabotaging at her job and the chemistry between her and Gabriel heats up this story gets good. Like these characters.
