Becca Evans looks like she has it all: flawless makeup, loyal followers, and the kind of online presence most beauty influencers dream of. But behind the red lipstick and curated posts, she’s exhausted, yearning to walk away from it all…if only her platform weren’t the financial lifeline keeping her and her dysfunctional mother afloat.

Lucky DeLucca became an internet sensation thanks to his reckless charm and dangerous stunts—until one nearly killed him. Now, with his career on the line, he’s clawing for a comeback. Even if it means facing his worst fear: getting hurt all over again.

When a high-stakes competition for content creators pairs Becca and Lucky together, sparks fly—and not the cute kind. But the cross-country adventure, with media coverage and a $100,000 prize, could solve both their problems. They manage to form a friendship, but when they discover viewers prefer their rivalry, they launch a fake-hating scheme that rockets them to the top of the leaderboard and closer to the win they both desperately need.

Off-camera though, real chemistry simmers, and a kiss captured on video goes viral, unleashing the worst of the internet trolls and exposing their ruse. They are forced to confront what happens when the likes become dislikes—and when pretending turns into something real.

With their reputations, their futures, and their hearts on the line, Becca and Lucky must decide what they're more willing to lose: their platforms or each other.

🎀˜”*°•.˜”*°• Book Review #6 •°*”˜.•°*”˜📚

A fast‑paced, media‑savvy romance for readers who crave a character‑driven, glossy yet gritty look at the cost of fame, the yearning for authentic connection, and the tension between public performance and private desire.

🎀First of all, I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. I would like to thank the publisher of this book, who gave me the opportunity to read and discover this book by "Fox and Flower Book." I would also like to thank the author, Kimberly Chance, who wrote this beautiful work of hers, and I would love to read more ARCs from her soon. Lastly, I would like to thank NetGalley for helping me find this book and discover this beautiful book by the author.

🤎Lights All Faded by Kimberly Chance is a fun and nice rom-com to read. Before I end this February, of course, I will read a romance book because of this February's theme. I miss reading romance after I read some literature, thrillers, etc., or those kinds of genres. I love reading romance, and it's my top 1 genre of all. I was caught by the cover and description of the book, honestly, at the NetGalley app, and I just couldn't help but request it. I would say I totally recommend this book, and the banter was just so good! If you're looking for a clean romance, then this book will be for you!

🌻The FMC's name is Becca Evans, and the MMC's name is Lucky DeLucca. Becca Evans is a beauty influencer, and she just attended a BuzzCon at the Henry B. Gonzales Convention Center for a competition or challenge. The same as Lucky, who also attended a Buzzcon because he is also included as a finalist. When the emcee announces the competition, a partner should complete the mission to get a $100,000 worth of prize. Both of them needed this money, but are they going to win the competition together if they keep hating each other?

I received this book as an ARC and I loved it. I loved the behind the scenes look at life as an influencer and the difficulties that can come with it and keeping life from getting tangled up in it. I loved the characters and how relatable they were. I can’t wait to read more from Kimberly Chance.

Lights All Faded is a story that blends the glossy world of online fame with the very real emotional fallout behind the screens. This book delivers a fun, fast-paced romance with a beating heart, even if some moments feel a little rushed or overly dramatized. Still, the chemistry between Becca and Lucky, and the exploration of internet pressure make it a worthwhile read.

* Becca Evans: polished on the outside, unraveling on the inside *
Becca is easily the standout of the book. She’s the kind of character who could’ve been shallow or stereotypical in the wrong hands, but the author gives her depth: the exhaustion, the pressure to perform, the complicated relationship with her mother, and the quiet longing to just stop. Her vulnerability is what makes her compelling. She’s prickly, guarded, and sometimes frustrating, but always human. Watching her slowly let someone in—and let herself be seen—was one of the most rewarding parts of the story.
If anything, I wanted even more time with her internal world. Her emotional arc is strong, but a few beats resolve a little too quickly for the weight they carry.

* Lucky DeLucca: reckless charm with a bruised core *
Lucky is the perfect foil to Becca: chaotic where she’s controlled, spontaneous where she’s calculated, and deeply insecure beneath the swagger. His near‑career‑ending accident adds a layer of vulnerability that grounds him, and his struggle to rebuild himself—physically and emotionally—feels authentic.
He’s funny, warm, and occasionally infuriating, but in a way that makes him feel real. The only drawback is that some of his backstory and trauma could’ve been explored more fully; there are hints of something deeper that never quite get the spotlight they deserve.

* Their dynamic: rivals, partners, and something in between *
The forced partnership, the fake‑hating scheme, the cross‑country chaos—it all works. Their banter is sharp, their tension is believable, and their slow shift from reluctant teammates to something softer is genuinely sweet. The viral kiss and the fallout that follows bring some of the book’s most emotional moments, even if the conflict leans a bit dramatic at times.
Still, their connection feels earned, and their growth—both individually and together—gives the story its heart.

* Final Thoughts *
Lights All Faded isn’t perfect, but it’s heartfelt, fun, and surprisingly thoughtful. It captures the highs and lows of influencer culture without losing sight of the people underneath the personas. Becca and Lucky shine brightest when the cameras are off, and their journey—messy, tender, and chaotic—makes for an engaging read.

A solid 4 stars: imperfect but full of heart, with characters who stick with you!

lights all faded by kimberly chance
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
genre: NA rom-com
315 pages (ARC, e-book)
15/50

synopsis:
becca, a beauty vlogger, and lucky, a daredevil content creator, crash into each other at a creator convention, where they are both finalists in a high-stakes content competition with $100k and an agency contract on the line. both are desperate to win for their own reasons: becca is barely staying afloat taking care of her alcoholic mother, and lucky wants to reinvent himself after a traumatic brain injury. things get messy when they are teamed up and become reliant on each other to win. over a series of ridiculous challenges, a cross-country trip, and fake-hating schemes, lucky and becca begin to have real feelings for each other.

review: i ate this up. i was iffy during the first few chapters because honestly im not a huge fan of influencers, and lucky (the mmc) was rubbing me the wrong way with his low-key kind of cocky attitude. but as the characters began to develop feelings for each other, they let their performer masks slip off and reveal their true selves to themselves and to the reader. you realize that most of lucky’s attitude is just for show, and he’s actually a really a softy.
their love story was super cute and realistic. both of them are incredibly lonely: it seems that becca (fmc) only has her mom, and the only friend lucky talks about is ziven, who is another content creator and finalist. it was beautiful to read about them finding someone who sees beyond the person on the screen and to see them support and comfort each other.
this was a closed-door romance, and i did not mind the fade to black at all. the tension was still there, and the romance was satisfying.
i liked the commentary on the harmful side of social media for content creators. it rounded out the characters with becca and her mom’s financial security riding on her beauty vlogging and becca losing her identity to the fans. both deal with online bullies (though becca a lot more so), and lucky struggles with ptsd following his accident but can’t fathom letting his fans down. it’s tough to get me to feel bad for influencers, but i was rooting for becca and lucky.
this is a review of an advanced copy received from the author! thank you for trusting me with your work! i highly recommend picking this one up when it comes out. i’m usually picky about romances, and i inhaled this one in like 24 hours. #teambucky

Thank you to Kimberly Chance and Book Funnel for an eARC of Lights All Faded in exchange for my honest review.

I flew through this book in a matter of hours -- and I'm usually a slow reader. But something about this hooked me from the get go. It's time for a road trip, y'all!

Becca and Lucky are both influencers, albeit in completely different realms of interest. Becca is a beauty guru, Lucky is an adrenaline junkie. She's serious and organized, he's goofy and larger than life. When they're paired up to compete in an influencer competition (cool premise, btw), they butt heads immediately, and it seems like the $100,000 each that's at stake is completely out of their grasp. Maybe opposites don't attract.

But what if the opposites aren't so opposites at all? They've each got deeper things that they're dealing with, and maybe they're more alike than they realize. Once Becca and Lucky start to connect and really see each other, their chemistry is so palpable. And even though the plot took place over a short time period (just a few days), it didn't feel like it was totally motivated by lust. I genuinely felt like Becca and Lucky liked each other as people and were taking the time to learn each other's quirks and idiosyncrasies.

I feel like this book spoke so well on perception -- how we view ourselves and how others view us. And how those often are not the same.

And add in a ruse with some banter and snark as they have to pretend to still hate each other for the sake of the competition? Heck yeah, sign me up.

Overall, I thought this was a fun, fast-paced read. Some things were a little predictable to me, but there were also times I was surprised by where the story was going. I really liked both main characters and thought they were compelling with legitimate struggles. The ending isn't exactly what I was expecting or even really how I wanted it to end, but I think it made sense for both characters and there was definitely character development.

NGL, I was picturing Lucky as Rob Rausch the entire time... blame it on the fact that I'd been watching Traitors or whatever, but as soon as I read that Lucky was from Alabama and an Eagle Scout, Robby Bobby was in my brain... except for Lucky's fear of snakes, of course.

Tropes: one bed, friends to lovers, closed door romance, forced proximity, fake hating (fake dating's stepsister)

I'm not classifying this as enemies to lovers since the (actual) hatred was short-lived

I loved it!

I was looking for something lighthearted and fun to lift my spirits, and boy did Kim Chance deliver. I struck absolute gold with this gem.

Becca was relatable. I’ve walked through some of her same struggles, especially the complicated relationship with her mom. Kim captured those emotions so honestly it felt personal.

The characters were so well written... I felt like I had a front-row seat to the reality behind online personalities, the pressure, the expectations, the constant obligation to perform. It gave me a whole new level of respect for influencers. It’s easy to see how someone could lose themselves along the way, along with the love for something they once cared about.

One thing I especially appreciated was the pacing. This book didn’t dawdle. It dropped you straight into the chaos and kept you tumbling forward until the very end.

And the challenges? So fun. Especially the first one they won, (it's super sweet so I won't spoil it here.)
And that kiss that went viral? OMG. When you get there… swoon. But the aftermath? Absolutely devastating.

What surprised me most was the depth. This wasn’t just a cute romance. It was about the masks we wear and the difference between who we are and who the world sees.

At one point, my daughter walked into the room and saw tears streaming down my face. She thought something was wrong.
Nope. I was just that moved.

The one thing I look for in a story is the ability to make me feel, to truly move me. This book did exactly that. I laughed out loud. I got angry. I felt hurt. I felt protective. And yes, I absolutely wanted to punch Iris in the face.

This was an absolutely adorable story.
Kim did something to me that I usually try very hard to deny... she forced me to admit that I really do love the mushy, romance stuff.

This is a closed-door romance, but don’t let that fool you. It still has enough fire to make you blush. The tension, the build-up, the emotional intimacy, it’s all there. So if you love romance with heat, you’ll absolutely still feel the rush, even without the explicit details.

Seriously, you guys. I loved it so much. I found myself smiling more times to count. I'll be reading it again.

This is the most beautiful, warm, heart-wrenching and relatable story. I read a lot of books -- most of them thrillers and mysteries, some fantasy -- but I'm picky when it comes to rom-coms.

Note: No spoilers here!

Well, Kim changed my mind about that with LIGHTS ALL FADED. From the first sentence, I was hooked. Every second I had to put my Kindle down and step away, I was thinking about what happened next for Becca and Lucky. The whole concept of the story was fascinating to me, and it was a real inside look at what I imagine big influencers lives end up being like. The stress of 'will I get enough likes?' 'Is the content good enough?' It shows the raw side of being an influencer -- the things we don't necessarily think about when we're aspiring to do it, too. It's not an easy task at all.

Becca and Lucky stole my heart from that first spill (you'll see!). Both of them were so relatable, and I could feel their joy, their pain, and their dreams were my dreams, too. I was rooting for them every second. The challenges and the competitions reminded me of the Amazing Race, which I always found fascinating to watch. They were so fun, and had me on the edge of my seat EVERY time a new one was announced. It's a big, adventurous road trip journey of fun challenges with great banter (and so much chemistry) between Becca and Lucky. The slow burn romance is on point, too, alongside writing that flows so naturally. They were such well defined characters, and I finished the book feeling like I truly knew them, too.

You will smile, you will laugh, you will ache, and you might cry. Read this book. Even if you aren't much of a rom-com reader, please...give this one a shot. You will not regret it. The writing flows, and the story unfolds so perfectly. I'm so glad I had the chance to read this a little early, because it's going to stick with me forever. Thank you so much Kim. You are a phenomenal writer and you have a reader for life! I can't wait for the world to devour this book!

ARC Review: Lights All Faded✨

First, thank you to Kimberly Chance for the ARC of Lights All Faded.

This was a really fun read. I enjoyed following Becca and Lucky throughout the competition and watching their dynamic evolve. Their easy back-and-forth banter made their chapters especially entertaining, and their fake-hating scheme added a lot of humor and tension to the story. It was fun seeing how their rivalry played out both on and off camera, especially as the lines between what was real and what was for the audience started to blur.

One aspect I appreciated was how the book explored the reality behind online personas. Becca may look like she has everything together as a beauty influencer, and Lucky’s reckless stunts have made him an internet sensation, but the story does a nice job showing the pressure and vulnerability that can exist behind the content people see online. It added a layer of depth that made their motivations and struggles feel more grounded.

The competition itself was also enjoyable to follow. The challenges and the constant presence of an audience added stakes that kept the story moving and made it easy to stay invested in how things would play out for them.

My one main critique is that I would have liked to see a little more development from some of the other contestants. A few of them were interesting enough that I found myself curious about their stories as well, so it would have been nice to see their arcs wrapped up a bit more clearly by the end. That said, it didn’t take away from my overall enjoyment of Becca and Lucky’s journey.

Overall, this was an entertaining read with strong banter, an engaging competition setup, and a look at the pressures of life as a content creator.

If you enjoy influencer drama, reality-style competitions, rivals-to-something-more dynamics, and stories that explore the human side behind social media personas, this might be one to add to your TBR.

¡WOW, WOW y WOW!

Thank you so much to Kimberly Chance for the gifted eARC.

This one was SUCH a fun ride. Buckle up, grab your ring light, and pray the WiFi holds.

Becca Evans looks like she has it all. She’s all flawless makeup, curated feeds, and enough followers to make brands weep with joy. But behind the makeup, she’s exhausted and carrying way more than a PR package haul. Her platform isn’t about clout, it’s survival.

Lucky DeLucca built his fame on chaos and reckless charm, until one stunt almost cost him everything. Now he’s desperate for a comeback, even if it means getting paired with someone who absolutely does not vibe with him.

They both enter a high stakes influencer competition. Cross-country travel. Cameras everywhere. $$$ on the line.

I loved the influencer angle in this. It felt timely without being cringey, and it actually dug into the pressure, the burnout, and the ugly side of internet fame. Watching Becca and Lucky navigate public personas vs. private truths was so compelling.

The competition aspect was so much fun. I felt like I was right there for every challenge, every leaderboard shift, every moment the fake rivalry strategy spiraled into something way more real.

It starts as enemies and quickly shifts to feelings But the fans like their snark and enemy vibes. So yes, they fake hate for views.

But then a viral kiss exposes everything. And the internet does what the internet does best.

This story balances banter, tension, vulnerability, and swoony moments really well. I’m always a sucker for enemies to lovers, but give me forced proximity, fake animosity, viral chaos, and real feelings sneaking in and I am sold!

First off as a millennial who learned all the tips and tricks of makeup from the likes of Jaclyn Hill, Casey Holmes, Makeup by Tiffany D, and Marlena (Makeup Geek), I can really appreciate the beauty influencer aspect of this story. What this book made me realize is that as a viewer we don't know how much pressure the social media influencers are under to be perfect and feeling like their next video needs to be bigger and better. We are just watching for entertainment and to learn a few things. Its way more than that with brand deals and sponsorships, trying to keep their views and follower count up. We only see a small sliver of their life that they have curated for us.

From the very beginning of "Lights All Faded " I was hooked. This book had me feeling ALL the feels. The two main characters Becca (Holly G) and Lucky have amazing chemistry throughout the story. Becca's conflict with her mom is unfortunately something that a lot of people struggle with and their family members have to deal with. There were also many moments that had me laughing out loud like the reference to Fight Club. The challenges that the competitors have to go through for the competition makes it fun and interesting. My favorite was the one in Roswell New Mexico. Aliens, need I to say more? The ending to the story was perfectly written and made sense for the two main characters.

All in all this book was a captivating ride that I did not want to end. I can say "Lights All Faded" is a unique and one of a kind rom com that I would definitely recommend. #TEAMBUCKYFOREVER

Lights All Faded completely stole my heart. I absolutely loved this story from beginning to end.

Becca Evans and Lucky DeLucca are the kind of characters that pull you in fast, both struggling behind the scenes while the world only sees their curated, larger-than-life personas. This was exactly a depiction of how actual influencers feel a lot of the time... sharing only highlight reels and not real life. Becca’s quiet exhaustion and sense of responsibility hit so deeply, while Lucky’s reckless charm mixed with vulnerability made him impossible not to root for. They were a team from the start and I loved seeing them support and push each other.

The banter had me smiling nonstop, and the fake-hate trope turning into real feelings was executed so well. Watching their relationship shift—especially under the pressure of the spotlight and online scrutiny of their partnership in the competition felt authentic and emotional without ever losing that fun, addictive energy.

And the setting details of the road trip just made it even better. The camping scenes in Tombstone, Arizona and their rides in Clementine added such a unique charm and adventure to the story. It felt like I was right there with them for every moment.I loved the sweet moments in Vegas the most.

This is a beautifully written, closed-door romance that delivers all the tension, chemistry, and heart without needing anything extra. The ending was everything I wanted and more.

Such a fun, emotional, and entertaining read—I couldn’t put it down. 💛

This was ARC #8 for me this year and my first time reading anything from Kimberly Chance.

Becca Evans is a popular makeup content creator living with her train wreck of a mother. The bills keep piling up and Becca doesn’t know how to stay afloat.

Lucky DeLucca is a good looking, charming stunt creator who is recovering from a near fatal stunt. He’s been silent on his social media accounts but now it’s time to get back in the game.

When Becca and Lucky show up in San Antonio Texas they have one thing in common, win the Starlight Challenge competition.

Eight competitors are paired up to travel from San Antonio to Anaheim, California. Along the way these teams are given challenges to complete. At the end of the competition the team with the most points which are based on the ranking after each challenge along with fan votes will win $100,000 and a contract with Starlight.

Becca and Lucky start out on a bit of a rough patch but soon find themselves becoming friends. But friendship don’t win fan votes. So they come up with a plan to give the people what they want. While at a stop in Vegas an intimate moment is captured on video and released for everyone to see. Now the viewers are mad. Becca and Lucky’s standing in the competition is in jeopardy.

Now they have to try and make it to Anaheim together and win the competition. But will they let the constant need for validation and fame destroy what they could build together?

From the moment I saw this cover, I knew this one had to make it to my TBR. Not only did I really enjoy Kimberly's previous book, but Roswell signs on the cover and lyrics from one of my favorite songs as a title? I'll take it! Thankfully, the story inside lived up to and exceeded my expectations. From their awkward meet cute, Becca and Lucky won me over. Their rivalry is immediate (cue the banter)... but short lived. When it seems their audience prefers when they don't get a long, they give them what they want with some fake hating. As a romcom reader, I read a lot of fake DATING, but I think this is only the second time for fake hating... and honestly, I need more of it! This is such a fun twist... we still get all that fun enemies' banter, but behind the scenes, the chemistry is flying off the pages... and I love it! Beyond the banter and humor though, Lucky and Becca's story has a lot of heart and tackles some tough subjects too, making me root for them that much more. I'm not always sure what to expect in stories with influencers, but I appreciate how this one gave us a look beyond the fame and glamour you might expect to see the struggles behind the camera. If you love road trip romance with a reality show-like competition filled with equal parts heart and humor, this is one you won't want to miss.

Lights All Faded is a closed-door romance with implied intimacy and some language throughout.

Vintage Reality-Competition levels of drama

For this millennial who had a faze where I watched way too many reality competition shows, this book had me hooked right away. I loved the premise, and it definitely delivered on all the funny, cringe-y, and tension filled moments just like all those shows do. Becca and Lucky make an excellent match for partners on the competition. And I like the opposite take to a fake dating trope- fake hating makes it new and fresh.

I think while the influencer competition aspect of the plot makes it seem a little frivolous, Chance does a great job of bringing it back to reality with the characters' backstories, and their motivations for winning the competition. Both Becca and Lucky are at a crossroads, and, like at a summer camp, they will leave their adventure making new choices for their future after having gone through something profound.

As a romance reader who reads all spice levels, I barely noticed that this one was a fade to black. There was plenty of chemistry and heat and tension without on page spice. Which I think is pretty difficult to do as well as Chance does.

I recommend this book for anyone who enjoys reality tv drama, classic rom com tropes, road trip/summer camp vibes, and new adult level character growth. Once I started reading, I was hooked and had a hard time putting it down.

Thank you to the author for the advanced copy. All opinions are my own.

Lights All Faded offers an intriguing look into the world of social media influencers — a career that feels very much like the “job of the moment.” The novel thoughtfully explores what exists behind the curated videos and polished posts, reminding readers that the people behind the screens are often struggling with pressures that audiences never see.

The story centers around a reality game show that brings a group of influencers together, which made for an entertaining and engaging premise. Among them are Lucky and Becca, whose complicated relationship adds emotional depth to the story. Their dynamic is layered with shared history, unresolved tension, and lingering feelings, highlighting how personal relationships can become strained under the pressure of fame, expectations, and public personas.

As the competition unfolds, the book gradually reveals the emotional weight many of the characters carry, touching on themes such as mental health, panic attacks, and alcoholism. One of the most compelling aspects is how the story shows the danger influencers face in losing themselves to the personas they create online.

Overall, I’d give Lights All Faded 3.5 stars for its engaging premise and thoughtful look behind the scenes of influencer culture.

Big thanks to the author for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

**Spoilers Ahead!**

I just finished Lights All Faded, and this was such a fun and genuinely sweet read.

The story follows Lucky and Becca, two influencers competing in a challenge where the winning team receives $100,000 and a contract with a talent agency. Becca runs a makeup channel while Lucky is known for his high risk stunt content. Their partnership gets off to a rocky start, but once the competition begins they slowly find their rhythm and start to fall for one another.

The audience loves their constant banter and bickering, so when real feelings begin to develop they decide to hide their relationship in order to keep viewers invested and improve their chances of winning. Things quickly get complicated when leaked footage of the two of them together surfaces, putting both their strategy and their trust in each other to the test.

I truly enjoyed this! I thought the progression of their relationship felt natural and the competition challenges were entertaining and kept the story moving.

I also really appreciated the way the book explored influencer culture and the pressure creators face to maintain an online persona that may not fully match who they are in real life. This is a very clean romance and overall is a quick, engaging read that kept me hooked the whole way through! I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and cute love story.

-fake hating
-forced proximity
-dislike to lovers
-mental health struggles
-social media influencers
-closed-door / no-spice

I got to read this as an ARC and I absolutely loved this book and the way the relationship between the MMC and FMC developed so naturally. Watching them figure out their feelings — while also navigating the expectations placed on them because of the challenge they were doing — made their connection feel real and meaningful.

I really enjoyed learning both of their backstories and seeing how they were each working through something personal while trying to reach a goal. What made it even better was how they slowly realized they could lean on each other, be vulnerable together, and grow side by side. When they messed up, they messed up together. When they succeeded, they celebrated together — and that teamwork made their relationship so special.

The storyline was engaging from start to finish, and I loved all the added depth from the side characters too. The character development for both main characters was done so well and made me even more invested in their journey. Overall, this was such a heartfelt, enjoyable read that I couldn’t put down.

Lights All Faded turned out to be a surprisingly enjoyable read. From the very beginning, the story held my attention thanks to its steady pace and the sense that something meaningful was always happening. It never felt stagnant, which made the reading experience engaging and easy to get lost in.

One of the aspects I appreciated the most was how real and relatable the characters felt. Their emotions, reactions, and struggles came across as genuine, which made it easier to connect with them and become invested in their journey.

I especially enjoyed the relationship between Lucky and Becca. From the start, their dynamic felt natural and compelling, and watching their bond develop added warmth and depth to the story. Their interactions were one of the highlights for me and made the book even more enjoyable to read.

Overall, Lights All Faded was a pleasant surprise. An engaging story with authentic characters and a relationship that keeps you rooting for them.

It was a very satisfying and memorable read. A heartfelt and engaging story with characters that feel real and easy to connect with.

ARC REVIEW
!!! 5/5 STARS !!!
I was really excited to pick this one up, and it ended up being such a fun read for me (I actually finished it really quickly because I didn’t want to put it down).
Becca and Lucky, who are both content creators, end up competing in a BIG online competition, and the unlikely pair get stuck working together… and the rest is historyyyyy. I loved that their relationship wasn’t perfect right away. Kimberly did such a great job building their story and making their connection feel real. With all the real-life problems each of them were dealing with, you could see how much they were both trying to hide behind what people see online.
Becca’s situation with her mom added a lot of emotion to the story, and Lucky had way more depth than I expected at the beginning. The back and forth between them, the tension, and the romance were top tier for me. The story never felt slow, and the competition and traveling parts kept everything moving the whole time! There were funny moments, some more serious ones, and overall it was just a really easy book to get into.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It was cute, entertaining, and had more heart than I expected.
If you like rom-coms with a little emotion mixed in, this is definitely worth reading.

This is a fade to black, forced proximity romcom; a really cute story of two social media rising stars who go to compete in a chance to win $100, 000.

Becca is a makeup tutorial guru with a mom who needs her. What started out as fun and enjoyable maybe isn't so much fun anymore. She is in it to win it so that she can catch up and more.

Lucky is a daredevil, always finding a new way to wow the audience. He has just come back from a stunt gone wrong with time in therapy to get back to himself. This is his opportunity to show everyone he isn't done yet.

When they get paired up to go on their adventure across states to each win some money, things do not start out well. Especially their first meet.

I feel the writing was done well and I really enjoyed the story itself. Both characters were easy to connect with and I loved how Kimberly really showed their feelings in the dual POV. I personally could have done without the mention of the notes below but that is just me.

(Note: the fade to black is between two unmarried, consenting adults. There is sporadic language like s*** and a** with an omg in there.)

I finished this book in just three days, which is rare for me since I’m a slower reader. The story kept my interest and was the perfect blend of fast paced fun and mindful heartfelt conversations. I loved both the leading characters and was rooting for them all the way. The competition was very cool and I loved the travel aspect of it. I can tell the author did her research because the River Walk area in San Antonio was just like I remembered when I visited there. The way the author described the scenery and the scenarios really helped me to picture the story in my head almost like a movie. I’ve never read a book that had a fake hating situation, so that was a lot of fun and made the stakes even higher. I really appreciated that this author created a fun action-packed romcom without the unnecessary spice. I was so invested and miss the characters already. Finally, I have to say I love the reference to Breakfast at Tiffany’s with Lucky’s nickname for Becca, Holly G!

Special thank you to the author for an ARC of this book - I love this book so much and am grateful for the opportunity to review it. All thoughts are my own honest review.

Lucky and Becca are influencers that go on a road trip from Texas to California for a contest, but they find out more about themselves on the trip than they could have imagined. The fake hating in this book was everything! I absolutely loved this trope along with the fantastic banter between the characters!

I was already feeling all the feels by the author’s note. When Kim says she was inspired by a time when she thought she “had to be everything to everyone” that really resonated with me. Once the book actually started, I was hooked by the chemistry and banter between Becca and Lucky. I couldn’t get enough of this story! By the end, I was tearing up (with happy tears), which is one of the signs of a great book to me. I’m going on a roadtrip with friends in a few months and the adventures of Lucky and Becca’s roadtrip in Lights All Faded made me so excited to seize every moment on my own trip!

Thank you to Kimberly Chance for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Becca Evans looks like she has it all…perfect makeup, loyal followers, and a thriving influencer career, but behind the scenes she’s exhausted and financially tied to a life she’s not sure she wants anymore. Lucky DeLucca is a former internet daredevil trying to make a comeback after a near fatal stunt. When the two are paired together for a high-stakes content creator competition, their rivalry turns into a fake hate scheme to win over viewers… until the lines between pretend and real start to blur.
This was such a cute little romcom and a pretty quick read. I really enjoyed the characters and watching both Becca and Lucky grow throughout the story. I don’t personally know what all goes into being a content creator, so it was actually really interesting getting a behind the scenes look at that world…the pressure, the image, the constant need to perform!

This book actually surprised me for how much I ended up loving it. I went in thinking it would be cure, sure, but it went so much deeper than that.

Each of the two characters come with some trauma and personal issues that allows us to know them deeper and feel the intimacy of their relationship as they become vulnerable with one another.

Plus, the competition was a lot of fun! It gave the whole book a competitive edge and really made the story feel complete, all the way until the end.

🖤 Thank you to author Kimberly Chance for the advanced digital copy. As always, my reviews are honest, my own, and voluntary!

Lights All Faded – ARC Review

This was such a fun read.

Lights All Faded delivered exactly what I love in a romance — layered tension, sharp wit, and characters I couldn’t help but root for. What starts as enemies quickly shifts into friends… then fake enemies… then lovers… then enemies again — and honestly? I loved the emotional back-and-forth of it all.

The chemistry felt natural, the banter kept the story moving, and I found myself genuinely invested in what would happen next. Even during the moments where I wanted to shake them, I was still firmly on their side.

While there are a few elements that could be triggering for some readers, overall this felt like a lighthearted, entertaining read that kept me turning the pages.

This is my first book by Kimberly Chance, and I’m already excited to explore more of her work. I’m so grateful to have been chosen as an ARC reader — thank you for the opportunity!

Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced copy of this book!!

The story made me so nostalgic for the peak YouTube days of my teenage years. If the VidCon competition was real i would absolutely have been tuning in to every episode and live steam. I know i would’ve 100% been #teambucky too!

A very fun and easy read. A nice reminder that what you see online is someone’s highlight reel.

I would’ve liked to have seen some more conversations with Becca’s Mum and explored their relationship in a little more detail. But i also liked that the book was pretty short and to the point. No unnecessary details or tangents.

Sometimes it was hard to tell who’s POV i was in if i came back to a chapter mid way through. But
Becca and Lucky were fun characters and I’d totally subscribe to their channels IRL.

The title of the book is also perfect once you finish the story you’ll understand why!

This book's a fun and cute contemporary romance between two influencers teamed up to win a competition. It's a soft fluffy romance for the most part but, it also addressed psychological traumas respectfully.

Both main characters were relatable, very easy to cheered on, and most importantly, even though dealing with personal struggles, they try not to displace their anger to someone else. These two have great tension and amazing chemistry, a lot of playful banters, and have an incredible understanding to one another's life issues - looove love this! The other content creators also felt realistic and all have definite competitive natures within themselves.

It was actually a nice quick genre break for me - this is such an enjoyable and a fast-paced one too! It may be on a slightly predictable plot but I adored every inch of it. If you want some cute romance in your life, give this a read! Recommended ✨️

This book was SO much fun! I absolutely adored our main characters from the very first page. This is a romcom, but there is such true depth and vulnerability in these characters, and it makes their story really sweet. I LOVE the way the realities of social media were highlighted, even amidst the fact that the reality influencers construct can't be trusted. I think I expected a book about influencers to be cheesy--I NEVER expected it to be heartbreaking. I was so sucked into our characters' lives and motivations, and when they reached the major conflict I truly had NO idea how they were going to get out of it. Their connection was so evident and real from the moment they met--ugh I just love them! The ending was fabulous, the in-between was hilarious, and I just am so glad I found this book and was given the opportunity to read it. Oh, and I absolutely need to watch this competition and love story on the big screen, so get on that movie companies!
