The Daughter's Fate

Rate this book
Born of monsters. Marked for death.

FBI Special Agent Genevieve Steel has spent her life proving she’s nothing like her serial killer father. To escape his legacy, she’s built her career on one simple truth...blood doesn’t define who you become.

Someone is determined to prove her wrong.

When a young nurse is found brutally murdered, the case looks contained. Local. Tragic, but isolated. Until another body surfaces. And then another. The victims have nothing in common—no shared lives, no connections, no obvious motive.

Except one.

They’re all the children of infamous serial killers.

Across three states, the pattern becomes impossible to ignore. Someone is hunting them. Executing them. Leaving behind no evidence, no witnesses...only rage, control, and a chilling message.

Blood is destiny.

For Genevieve, the case cuts deep. It’s personal. She knows what it means to inherit a monster’s legacy. She’s lived with it since she was twelve years old...since the day she opened the wrong door and found her father’s kill room.

Now, Genevieve is forced to confront a terrifying possibility...what if the killer is right?

As the body count rises and the investigation leads her back to her father’s prison, Genevieve moves into the killer’s crosshairs. Because this time, she’s not just hunting a murderer.

The murderer is hunting her.

The Daughter’s Fate is the electrifying fourth novel in the Genevieve Steel series from Mary Stone and Angela Kay, where past sins don’t stay buried—and blood may be the most dangerous evidence of all.

A SA FBI Genevieve Steele novel that continues, following her cases. While biking on the mountains, Genevieve hit a root and ended flying into a patch of Poison Ivy. She then received the call that she had been cleared from the shooting in her last case. And she needed to get back there were two open cases needing her help asap.

A case of five of women near a small town that needed investigation and arrests. DNA from a teacher had given them three cousins that were men who one was the possible rapists. And a case of two serial killers in prison who called reporting the murders of their children. SA FBI Genevieve Steele and SA FBI Riley Chase head to the prison where the men are imprisoned.

After the arrest of the Rapist, all eyes with the team were on these murders of Serial Killers children being murdered. They were being killed because they have their father's blood-DNA in them and the killer wanted to eliminate that bloodline.

No only does Genevieve glitch into another place to see, and hear but not be seen, Riley is showing signs of picking up the crime by touching a piece of evidence.

Who is the Murderer and will they catch him before more children killed?

Another excellent thriller from Mary and Angela. I was glued to the book and trying to guess which suspect is the real killer. The story has a really interesting and special plot. I loved that the story addressed several moral issues (hurricane vultures totally hit me!), vigilante, serial killers’s families. I think what hit me the hardest was the punishment of the kids. I like the style Mary uses to write. You get to know the crime right the way, you get the chapters with the killers mind thoughts and plans and the end is never the same and never expected.
Though my suspect proved to be correct, I would never ever thought of the final scenes to be like in this book. Fabulous!!! Don’t miss on this new series!

I reviewed this book as part of an ARC team. This was a thrill ride. While I figured out the killer fairly quickly there were several rabbit holes along the way to make you doubt it. Someone is killing the adult children of notorious serial killers. What a plot. This killer has taken the question of nature versus nurture to a whole new height. He is convinced that a killer gene lives in those who parents have been serial killers. It is just waiting to explode and create another killer. So, this person's logic is that it is up to him to eliminate all possibility of this happening. This is quite a ride, and you will relish looking at the clues. Good read!

Genevieve and her team are tasked with investigating the murder of a young nurse. Then another murder happens and the only connection is that they were the children of serial killers. When a third person is murdered, the investigation puts Genevieve next in line. Mary Stone tells a good story in all of her books but this story was very, very good and made the reader think about nature vs nurture. Does a killing gene pass down from parent to child? As always, I enjoyed the characters and how they all work together, and look forward to reading more about Riley. I read this as part of the ARC team.

Genevieve is out bike riding to help pass the time while she is on admin leave. Her phone rings and she is cleared and needed back at work. Her and Riley have a case. This one hits home for Genevieve, she can identify with these victims. They find the victim brutally murdered and a big lack of evidence to lead them to the killer. Genevieve is forced to face the demons of her father’s killing spree for which he is currently imprisoned. The killer has not left clues at any of the kills and the ladies have their work cut out for them.

The premise for this story is ingenious! This killer is targeting children of serial killers. All these children are leading exemplary lives but the unsub thinks they are Bad Seeds. This puts SA Genevieve Steele in his crosshairs! Adding a retired detective to work with the FBI is a clever touch. Mary Stone and Angela Kay have created a thrilling story. As the book moves toward the conclusion the pace and tension pick up dramatically! Readers will appreciate the exciting finale and SA Steele’s last comment! Another winner for Mary and Angela!

Mary Stone knows how to create characters.

Mary Stone created Genevieve Steel with all the characteristics of an FBI agent. She is the daughter of a serial killer and always loaded with doubts. In this book Genevieve has to come to grips with the fact that people believe nature or nurture. When someone is killing children of serial killers they believe that they are a bad seed and will become violent like their fathers. Genevieve is one of the killers victims but will she be a bad seed? Must read.

Received ARC

Someone is killing the adult children of serial killers & leaving the scenes devoid of any forensic evidence. Who, why?

Follow along as Genevieve Steel & her partner Riley Cash use their supernatural idiosyncrasies to help catch the killer in their midst.

Oh, yes, Riley has also found her “power”!!

OMG!

I love this series and I totally cracked this case. I figured it out a quarter of the way through. This book had my husband and me talking about nature versus nurture. His initial response was nurture. From my childhood family I can attest that how a person turns out has more to do with who they choose to be rather than their DNA or how they were raised.
