Oh wow, I'm the first one to review this!

*I got this book as an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.*

I really enjoyed Vdarra and Jacob's story. It has all the elements that make a category PNR work, sizzling hot chemistry, a life-in-danger plot, and great HEA. I don't read many angel/demon books, so the world building was all new to me. I really enjoyed that new-to-me element.

The descriptions were fresh and original. I've been to Rio and I thought that was done very well. Jacob was extra awesome too. He starts out the book loving Vdarra (but she can't remember him) and his devotion is really poignant. Really liked it. Well written, great characters, and a quick seamless read.

Bravo!

Vdarra Jansen’s normal life is ripped away and she must trust former archangel Jacob in a race to find the one thing that will decide Vdarra’s - and the world’s – fate in this mesmerizing paranormal romance.

Wow! Talk about a Juliet and Romeo romance with Heaven and Hell being the Montagues and Capulets and since the story starts off all mysterious and secretive the reader is immediately drawn into a love that is beyond one they can ever imagine. The strong compelling characters grab the reader’s attention and refuse to let go while the steady to fast pace enthralls readers with lots of suspense, excitement and romance. Vdarra has no memory of her life beyond ten years ago and while Jacob has the answers she’ll wish she had never found out as enemies from both sides have plans for her and neither has an outcome she’ll enjoy. The attraction she feels for Jacob is overwhelming but it is the one thing that holds her together as Vdarra slowly begins to remember what happened to them and what’s at stake.

Lots of spine shivering excitement that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat with anticipation and expectation as the well written scenes and details come to life and capture the imagination. The Deceiver wants his daughter back and he wants for her to lead the armies of destruction and of course Heaven wants to stop her and the only one trying to help her is Jacob as betrayals and memories start to overwhelm Vdarra, she’ll even have to fight herself to keep evil from winning.

The author mixes myth into fantasy and creates a fascinating world that puts an intriguing spin on the battle between good and evil. I was completely caught up in the story from the very beginning and I can’t wait to find out what happens next…this story will be hard to top.

Hate it when I hate a book but...

If there's one element I enjoy in romances it's a reunion between married characters. I figured the amnesia plot of HER FALLEN PROTECTOR would make that reunion very complicated and therefore rich in plot but really only the former was true. This book was so complicated and between all the names both the hero and heroine had I was quickly put off by how needlessly complex it all got.

I usually defend and get excited over angel and demon mythologies in paranormal romance but this is the first time I found myself heavily questioning the logic on how some of the elements were played. Making it worse was that outside of some steamy love scenes there's zero chemistry between Jacob and Vdarra. The conflict between them that keeps them apart felt contrived.

I hate giving 1 star reviews but this was one of the small handful of books that made me break my finish-every-book-you-start guidelines. Instead of DNF-ing it I skimmed the last quarter of it just hoping for something to spark. It didn't.

Perhaps if you're more in the mood for an Urban Fantasy than a romance you might enjoy this one. I just couldn't find anything that I liked about it. Chances are I'll give Severn another shot, I did see great potential here, I just didn't find it suitable as a category PNR title.

Nichole Severn has a smooth writing style with beautiful descriptions that sucked me right into the unique story of Vdarra and Jacob. Loved their heartache and sizzling chemistry. Can they overcome their past to have a future?

Amnesia propels a fascinating mystery of Vdarra’s past as she struggles to remember anything that happened before ten years ago while being chased by demons. And protected by one hawt fallen archangel, Jacob. I found Vdarra to be a strong lead, handling kidnap, repeated threat-to-her-life without a clue of what was going on (for a while), and a fast connection with Jacob. We slowly find out the pieces of this starcrossed couple’s past through Jacob’s thoughts and Vdarra’s sporadic memory recall.

This is an excellent light PNR read. Angels, demons, hot sex and life-threatening situations…Can’t wait to read the next in this series!

I started this thinking it would be very different from what I actually got. This was very much what I like to call an "in between" book for me. I didn't like it but I didn't dislike it either. It was a pleasant book to pass the time but I won't be reading it again. I felt like this book needed so much more, more time to get to know the main and ALL of the secondary characters, their motives and their backstories. So much story was teased but we got the shortened version of it. There was a lot of groundwork laid for both the plot and each character but it wasn't in depth the way it could have and should have been.

This particular story needed to be a full blown novel and we were given the SparkNotes watered down version of key points to the story. I was initially intrigued by the blurb but I feel very cheated because it wasn't what I thought it would be. Story events should have been dragged out longer, characters should have been given more screen time to show why they felt the way they did, why they did the things they did, what their intentions were, setting and pov changes should have flowed more fluidly and smoothly rather than having to reread sentences and paragraphs because you weren't sure what had just happened or who was talking or thinking. Everything happened too fast in this book and it just really needed to be slowed down and thought through more. This felt so rushed and for me it really hurt how great this could have been. I don't regret reading it, it was decent at best but it had huge potential to be much more than the finished product I just read.

Vdarra was stuck in a seemingly endless cycle of dead ends in her effort to figure out who she was beyond the ten years she could remember of her life. She was found at sea by a man claiming to be her father, but she was still in the dark about so much and it was slowly driving her mad. Little did she know that there was someone looking for her, someone who loved her but knew not to approach her for fear of what danger that might bring. But the temptation turned out to be too much for her gorgeous fallen angel Jacob, who had given his heart to her despite the darkness that was her origin.

Vdarra was tossed into a world she couldn’t begin to understand with all of her memories of the Underworld forgotten. The world as she’d come to know it in the ten years since she woke up was just a fraction of her existence, and she had no idea who this man was that was making her heart take flight but refusing to tell her what he knew. She was indeed the heiress to the world of demons, but she had once fallen for an angel, and she had him on her side as the evil tried to rise up and take her back. Whether she had a clue to any of it at all was entirely up to everyone around her, and it was maddening that no one would give her a straight story, especially Jacob. They had great chemistry, you could feel his intense love for Vdarra and the pull she was experiencing towards him. I wanted to beat Jacob upside the head for being so cryptic and vague for so long, but in the end he was trying to protect her so I couldn’t stay mad at him. He had stayed devoted to her for so many years despite who she was and the fact that she had no memory of him, so it was hard not to love him!

While the danger and the darkness were exciting aspects to the story, I felt like a lot of questions were left unanswered here. We’re given plenty of revelations to keep us pulled in, but then they aren’t fleshed out so I felt like there were missing pieces to the puzzle. Overall though, Jacob and Vdarra’s story was a sexy, exciting, and a unique take on the good vs. evil romance.

“From what? Them?” She motioned with her chin toward the door. “Or you? Because you’re doing a bang up job so far.” ~Loc 470

“I betrayed my father and my kingdom and I can’t even explain why.” Her attention remained glued to him and something deep within her made her step toward him, despite the tension radiating off his body in waves. “Except it was because of you.” ~Loc 797

What a selfish son of a bitch he’d become. He’d upended her entire life and all he could think about was how much he needed to touch her. How much he needed her to accept him, forgive him. ~Loc 823

I was intrigued by the synopsis talking about demons and fallen archangels, when it’s not a plot I’m used to read, and I wasn’t disappointed by Her Fallen Protector.

Vdarra has no memory before her accident ten years earlier, and after her father’s recent death she despairs to recover her memory. When she meets Jacob, who not only says he knows her, but even pretends he’s her husband, she’s ready to cling to the hope he embodies. But their reunion will quickly put her face to face with demonic beings, in the true sense of the word, who pretend she’s one of their.

I really liked Vdarra and Jacob, I found them endearing together as separately. I liked that she wonders if those very strong feelings are really hers or only coming from her past, especially seeing speed with which they come. And I found how she comprehended the events and the changes in her well described and quite realistic.
I also found that Jacob’s love was well shown. He’s ready to do anything to save his true love, even if she’s changed since her arrival on Earth, he’s already lost a lot as he’s now a fallen archangel. And this love doesn’t weaken in front of the changes in Vdarra before he finds her again, and as the story goes on he keeps faith in her.

At first we are like the heroine, we start in the dark and we discover things gradually with what she’s told or the memories that come back. Even if we are also in the hero’s thoughts, they are nebulous enough for us not to have answers faster. It’s at the same time exciting when the pieces fit together, and annoying not to know more faster (no, I’m not always very patient lol).

As I already said, I read very few novels with angels as a theme, and I really liked the universe, and how the author talks about the Father and his archangels, and the Deceiver and his demons, without ever falling into religion. I liked the author’s style, very flowing, and her very sensual sex scenes. The only thing I didn’t understand is why Vdaraa’s father waited ten years before acting; I found the explanation not very clear. But it’s not really important.

To conclude, Her Fallen Protector is a paranormal romance quite enjoyable, and if I understand correctly the subtitle “an Afterlife novel”, there should be at least a sequel. I hope it will be Sorren’s story, the other archangel we meet here, as he’s quite intriguing. Wait and see.

An enjoyable paranormal romance.

Jacob Strauss has finally found Vdarra after she betrayed him. Vdarra Jansen was consumed with searching for answers about her past in Rio when she bumps into Jacob. She woke up in the middle of the Atlantic with no memories ten years ago. Sadly, no one came forward other than her father and she felt as if she was missing something vital. She sensed an instant connection with Jacob and felt she was close to unlocking some memories.

“Why did you wait so long? Because they’re looking for you, too.”

With reoccurring nightmares, phantom pains and finally kidnapped, Vdarra was slowly coming to terms that all was not what it seemed with Jacob.

I liked this novel. It was a good read with interesting characters. Vdarra was a solid female lead. Not only did she hold up well when faced with the unfamiliar paranormal creatures, but she also readily put herself in harm’s way to defend her loved ones. Jacob was charming and his unwavering devotion to Vdarra, even when she “betrayed” him, was touching. I was smitten with his character. However, I did have an issue with Jacob. He gladly sacrificed his life for Vdarra, yet when she did the same, Jacob took it as a betrayal since he apparently cannot live without her. What’s up with that?

The plot had a good combination of ardour and danger. The backstory was well thought out, but predictable. Also I did feel that the blurb gave too much away. Overall a laidback and entertaining read with a satisfying end.

This was quite a pleasure to read and it is the first time for me in reading this author. Trying to recover lost memory, in her desperate search she meets a "stranger" who is also looking but for someone. Vdarra's one night encounter with Jacob things after that will never be the same for either. She was the someone but meeting her for that short time puts her in danger because now they know. There are those who would use her to set into motion death and destruction because she is the key. With more questions then she has to begin with time not on their side Jacob must protect her while they change the direction of things to come. Memories must be recovered in order for things to be different but it also could go wrong. In time past they were together a forbidden relationship but love cares sometimes not for such things especially if it is right. You journey with them to see who will succeed and who will fall. Trust is such a big factor but when you know you can deep in your heart as displayed in this novel it is the best thing they have on their side with the love they share that will surface once again. Exciting to say the least to see how one fallen former archangel even fell in love with her to begin with and the lies that were wrapped around her until she needed to be reawakened that he must overcome. Promises made in the past can not be repeated either or it would destroy them both for good. Anxious to say the least raced to see the outcome of this all with many unexpected occurrences. I was not disappointed in this novel but liked the novelty of the storyline. One would have to read for themselves to see if he succeeds in being that end all protector guarding the one he loves and holds his heart. Received a copy for a honest review.

Jacob has finally found Vdarra after years of searching. Unfortunately, for him for her safety he must stay away. He must protect her from those who want her to become what she once was. Fate has another idea and they come together for one steamy night in Rio. But, one night ends up opening up Vdarra to being kidnapped by the demons that want her to become Duemos again, the daughter of The Deceiver. Vdarra knows nothing about these demons or her past before 10 yrs ago. She does know that her connection with Jacob is strong and soon that connection and passion help her to remember who she is and what made her lose her memories. Can Jacob protect Vdarra and help her remember their love or will Vdarra become what she was meant to be and destroy the world?

I really got hooked with this book. The story was quite a unique take with the daughter of the devil and an Archangel becoming mates. It was a Romeo and Juliet kind of story except Juliet can destroy the world and heaven. You can really feel the connections between these characters. As the story progresses you are drawn further into their emotional turmoil and can relate to them on some level. But it isn’t just the emotional portion of the story that will have you wanting more. The steamy scenes between Jacob and Vdarra could set your Nook or Kindle or Ipad on fire. The chemistry is explosive and with that the sensual sex steams up in an erotic but not pornographic kind of way. The erotic really livened up an already good story so that it was basically icing on the cake. I would definitely recommend this book for all my paranormal romance fans out there. You will not be disappointed and will be, like me, craving more.

Vdarra Jansen cannot remember anything that happened to her more than ten years ago. She knows her father reduced her from the ocean then but cannot recall anything from before that time - but she wants to know and, since his death, she has been trying to find out about her past. Her nightmares are her only clues.

Former archangel Jacob (Israel) has been searching for his lost love for the past ten years and, when he finds her, discovers she has a different name and doesn’t remember him at all! The connection between them is instantaneous and the chemistry is still volatile. . . . . can they overcome the past to find a future together?

Without giving too much away, well certainly no more that is available in the book’s blurb, Vdarra is actually Duemos, the reincarnated daughter of the the ruler of the Underworld and the prophesy claims she will lead the demons and creatures of there to defeat both Heaven and Earth. As demons pursue her to return her to their kingdom, Jacob tries to help her and, working together, they seek the ‘Seal of Solomon’, a powerful ring that will enable her to call and command the demon army.

The story is essentially a good v evil scenario with love in the mix. It is quite enjoyable with strong characters, definitely different and with a great ending. The cover says this is “An Afterlife Novel”, so I presume others are being written in this series - I hope that the archangel Sorren will be the principal hero in that one!

Thanks to the author, publishers and NetGalley, too, for letting me read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Well, this one is a little twisting on the angels and demons fighting for good and evil. Jacob is a fallen angel who has been searching for his mate Vdarra for 10 years after a catastrophic event separated them from each other. You see, Vdarra is a demon, a special one according to Lucifer, and Jacob was an angel fighting for God. But when he finds Vdarra, she has no memories at all, except for the last 10 years, where she only had one person telling her what she should know. And when a passionate meet up turns into kidnapping and chaos, things get a little fun. :)

Vdarra thought she was human, not a powerful demon somehow suppressing her powers. So when things start happening and Jacob won't explain, and people are turning into monsters and kidnapping her, she has no choice but to start figuring things out. Jacob is torn from all the things that has happened. Not to mention he loves Vdarra, or he used to, but he can't let her go backwards.

This is a really interesting take on the difference between angels and demons. It has a very unique twist on things that I loved. And it's full of mystery and suspense so it keeps you reading the story. I liked that they both felt so much for each other but kept fighting it because they had so much previous baggage though Vdarra didn't remember a lot of it until later. If you love the angels and demons aspect, I would definitely recommend this one. Or if you just like a good paranormal romance, too. 4 FLYING PAWS!

A demon and an angel are very unlikely to fall in love but they did. As expected things were not so easy for them. It was not a happily-ever-after. And now after ten years there is a chance that they might be re-united. This time they maybe able to defeat the evil that wants to tear them apart.
A paranormal novel about archangels and arch-demons. Demons want to defeat the angels and rule the earth. Angels on the other hand will not let that happen because if they did all of humanity will suffer. Between the two forces are... Vdarra and Jacob.. She is daughter of Deceiter and he is a former archangel. Vdarra has no memory of her past. It is up to Jacob to win her trust and stop the Deceiter from using her and her army. It a battle of the hearts as much as of good and evil.
I really liked this book. There is a lot of suspense in the beginning. Many questions which need to be answered. But I also find Jacob a little irritating at times. He wants to save Vdarra but also doesn't want to tell her about her past, he keeps saying that he will and then when she asks he just tries to deflect her questions. Although its not irritating in itself but because it happens more than few times through out the book so that made it a little annoying for me. Still it was an entertaining story. And I enjoyed reading it.

Vdarra Jansen cannot remember anything that happened to her ten years ago. She knows her father took her from the ocean 10 years ago but she cannot recall anything more than that. Since her father’s death she has been trying to piece her life together to recall more about her life but she cant and that is scaring her.

Former archangel Jacob (Israel) has been searching for his lost love for the past ten years and when he finally finds her he discovers she has a completely different name and doesn’t remember him at all! The connection between them is instantaneous and the chemistry is still volatile . . . . . The question remains- Can they overcome the past to find their future together? I really loved how Vdarra & Jacob stood together against all odds and loved each other , all thru the years and thru the test of time. Loved this couple!

This book had a good vs evil vibe going on with some Romeo vs Juliet theme swirled around. I liked the paranormal cast to the story. It was an overall good story. The cover alludes to this being more in a series with “An Afterlife Novel” so I am hoping there will be more in the story for another secondary character in this story. There are so many to choose from. Perhaps an archangel or a demon. Do not want to give any spoilers but very rich in storylines here.

I enjoyed this book. I will read more from this author and I recommend HER FALLEN PROTECTOR to lovers of paranormal romance. While the plot felt like an extended version of a Supernatural season finale, it was told in such a vivid and intriguing way I loved it. I am also a rabid fan of Supernatural, and while there were similarities with demons, angels, seals, and blood bonds, authoress Nichole Severn has a unique voice that really drew me into the lives and emotions of the characters, and the love that simmered Vdarra and Jacob was really sweet and sensual.

The plot was fast paced, suspenseful, and nothing was confusing. The exposition of the world was really great, enticing in one breath and then had me craving for more in another. I will admit I am still a bit puzzled as to why Duemos father waited 10 years to act. Was it love? A part of a master plan I missed? While I had that question I still loved it.

I kinda love the amnesia trope, and this book hit the balance perfectly with the story line. I liked Jacob intensity, his resolve to always protect Vdarra and the death defying love he had for her/ Duemos. This book also lacked the hard core edge/ruthlessness I love in my paranormal heroes, but yeah Jacob still satisfied me. Vdarra was also a cool heroine, sweet and strong, and capable when needed. I really wanted her to become Duemos and remembered her love for Israel …and and….well I can’t always get what I want. Still enjoyed it. And I recommend.

A contemporary paranormal romance that revolves around the war being Heaven & Hell but the core of the story is the irrefutable love between Jacob and Vdarra, the star-crossed lovers.

Vdarra has been suffering from amnesia for the last 10 years. She travels back to to Brazil where she was found those 10 years ago, adrift at sea by a man claiming to be her father hoping to find clues to her background only to meet Jacob, a man she feels an instant mystifying bond to.

I read the book without any preconception what it was about (& was a bit obtuse on top of that!) & it was quite suspenseful trying to figure out exactly who/what Vdarra & Jacob really are & their previous relationship 10 years ago. The author so tantalizes with little hints & dribbles of info. Good thing I'm not the type to flip to the back & read the end 1st :D

The love that Jacob has for Vdarra is total, pure & unselfish. He loves her above everything else, even life. My heart bled for him every time Vdarra hesitated to trust him (he'd loved her for all those years whereas she'd only known him for "a few days" with her amnesia).

A lovely paranormal Romeo & Juliet story but without the tragic ending. What a relief. I love HEAs.

"Her Fallen Protector" is what I would call a classic Romeo & Juliet type of story. You have the daughter (Vdarra/Duemos) of the Devil (the Deceiver) and an angel, a seraph actually (Jacob/Israel).

Vdarra and Jacob are soul mates which is forbidden (which why it reminds me so much of an R&J theme ). Without giving too much away she has lost her memory and obviously she's trying to understand what happened to her. Jacob is trying to help and obviously very much in love and all he wants to do is protect her. Vdarra on the other hand acts like this helpless, distrustful and truthfully ungrateful (to me anyways). Yeah, I don't like her. Jacob on the other hand hmmmm can be my Guardian Angel ;). Also, there's this background story of a war between Heaven and Hell.

Ok so normally I love Entangled Covet's stories, however, I just couldn't get into this one. I found myself putting it down several times and truthfully didn't really want to finish.

It didn't flow as it should and almost felt forced.

Would I read it again? No, not as it is. I will say that it does have potential.

~I was given an ARC for an honest review on behalf of Obsessed by Books~

Her Fallen Protector swept me off my feet. This book is about a demon/angel paranormal book. This story had a HEA and hot chemistry between Jacob a formal arhcangel and Vdarra who's life is a mystery. Her Fallen Protector starts off slow and then picks up from there.

Jacob is looking for Vdarra who disappeared 10 years ago. He ends up looking for her in Rio De Janiero. Vdarra doesn't have a clue who Jacob is at first and at a dinner they start talking about the past. Vdarra founds out that demons are after them and both Jacob and Vdarra are in danger.

Jacob was hot and very protective of Vdarra. Vdarra was also a very creative female who wanted answers to what happened 10 years ago.

Fallen Protector was well written and a great paranormal read. Loved the whole demon/fallen angel themed. Fallen Protector had the supsense, action and romance all thrown in which made it a very interesting read.

I was really intrigued with this story. I tend to be a sucker for a second chance love story and this definitely qualified but in a different way than usual. I absolutely loved Jacob's devotion to Vdarra even in the midst of her supposed betrayal. I really look forward to continuing on with the Heaven/Hell story line.

Vdarra has no memory beyond when she was found adrift in the water off the coast of Brazil by her "father". No one else ever came forward so continues on with her life but always feels as though she's missing something and that things are just not right.

Jacob searched for Vdarra. Once he finally found her, he couldn't be with her. Not only did she not remember their past, but being with her would put them and the world in danger. Jacob gives in to temptation for one night and sets into motion events that can destroy everything.

I couldn't finish this book, it just didn't work for me. The beginning of the book just kinda threw me for a loop, to be honest. She meets a guy who seems shady and won't provide her with any real info about her past, which she's been searching for, for years, and doesn't think it's weird. Instead she sleeps with him? I don't think so. Even for the paranormal romance genre this is pretty far fetched. Besides this, I didn't like the male lead, he was pretty much obsessed with her and sex, in between mentioning that he betrayed her, but then she betrayed him. So it's a bit confusing, who betrayed who, and why do you keep switching it so early on from the same character??

I received this copy in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley. I loved Jacob & Vdarra story. How do you know who you are if you can't remember. Jacob needs for her to remember him & their love. According to her kidnappers she is the lost princess to the Underworld but she has no memory of the Duemos. Jacob will need to make a hard decision to keep Vdarra and live with the consequences. Can they trust each other enough to find the seal of Solomon and save themselves at the same time. A really good read

Vdarra and Jacob's story is quite something. The daughter of the Deceiver and one of the leading guardians for the Father. Their love has put them through a lot and now they have finally found each other again.

Vdarra knows nothing of her life before the past 10 years when she was fished from the ocean. But Jacob sparks something inside of her.

Its quite a story. Very unique and fun. I really enjoyed reading it.

A good book with interesting characters and an interesting storyline.
10 long years he searched for her or better yet who she was. yes, my discription is vague but i find in this book as with other books e all read into a book diferently and take to heart the things that attach themselves to our psyche.
This is a good verses evil /
Hea
also a lifetime romance.
i enjoyed it a lo soooo......my only complaint is i felt it may bexa bit longwinded in a few part but good no matter.

Je n’ai pas l’habitude de lire des histoires d’anges, et j’ai été agréablement emballée par l’univers et les personnages. J’ai trouvé le côté récupération des souvenirs plutôt bien fait pour garder l’intérêt et le suspense.

I received this from Netgalley/Entangled Publishing in exchange for an honest review. This is a modern day take on the battle between Angels and Demons. I really wanted to like this but it took me a while to get into it. Then I just really did not love it. The daughter of Satan was just annoying for most of the book. It was okay but just did not love it.

This fantastic paranormal was highly entertaining, and full of twists. Right when you thought you had things figured out, the author did a wonderful job of surprising me. I look forward to the next book in series. If you're into novels where demon lore clashes with angels, spilling over into the realm of humans, this book is for you.
