I read this book a few weeks ago and it has been on my mind ever since. I really was engrossed in the context of it.
This is a book about a doctor with a strong sense of compassion. He sees where the medical system is letting people down and he works to make things better. He soon finds that “the powers that be” are not feeling the same vibe he does and his world falls apart.
He is almost destitute when he meets a woman that is of like mind and together they try to go forward and fix what they can for people.
This book moves very quickly. It hits on a lot of things that hits the conscious like a brick but you know he’s working for the right reasons. It’s a dangerous ride for both of them moving forward.
There are many ups and downs and terrifying bits too. I couldn’t get enough and can’t wait for the next book in the series.
This is a must read. Simply fantastic.

A gritty, edge-of-your-seat story of a physician who sinks to levels to which he never realized he was capable.
Stripped of his medical license, his dignity, and essentially his life, this story takes us to the lowest depths that someone will sink just to survive. Forced out of the military, tossed to the curb by the medical society, barely surviving in a dive apartment, wondering where and what his next meal will come from, Alex agrees to delve into an area from which there is no return. Trying to balance his conscience and his purpose in life, he takes his practice to a new low by convincing himself this is what he was meant to do, after all, he's saving lives, right? When he's approached by a nurse with her own issues, they decide as partners to leap into a pit that has no bottom.
A dogged detective is now on the trail, noting questionable activity at suspect places that have been flying under the radar, involving drugs and medical equipment. Until now.
This book is nothing less than a page turner, with graphic descriptions and detailed conversations that will certainly make it hard to find a place to stop. Go visit the Night Clinic, just as an observer, and stand side by side with Alex as he does what he does best. Saving lives...even at what might be the ultimate cost.

Read as advance reader.
Physician Heal Thyself
The blood and violence of Winslow's "Cartel", the philosophical and moral debates of Camus, the silences of Pinter. All here but more accessible and entertaining. High claustrophobic tension, flawed characters from both sides of the law in struggle for supremacy, leaving the innocent to lie where they fall. First in new series from consistently reliable author.

Going back to his medical experiences, the author accurately describes a military surgeon forced into an existence of an underground doctor. Disgraced, stripped of his medical license, he operates on gang members, undocumented aliens, and the poor - those blocked from access to hospitals and emergency clinics by criminal, political, or poverty rules.

I received a Beta copy from the author.

New series from author of the Preacher has to be worth reading

… and it is!

Interesting set up and love the moral conflicts that I have not seen set out so well before.

Very much looking forward to seeing where this goes!
