Mills & Boon Romantic Suspense collection brings you dangerous liasions…

Everyone has secrets, and some will kill to keep them buried…

It started with a break-in. Though normally wedding dress designer Cassidy Tate could have handled it, having Tucker Buchanan’s strong arms, quick wits and great dog as a backup was reassuring! The ex-army engineer turned architect was the perfect guy in an emergency — and the fact that he was willing to pick up the pieces was even more appealing.

Because it turned out it wasn’t a simple robbery. Someone was after something in the shop Cassidy and her fellow bridal boutique owners shared. Now Tucker didn’t want to let Cassidy out of his sight. But was that to protect her — or claim her for his own?

Cassidy owns a wedding business with her two best friends,Violet and Lilah. When Cassidy arrives at work one morning she discovers that the shop has been broken into and wrecked. Tucker and his dog Bailey are out running, and come to Cassidy's aid when she screams. As Cassidy's partners arrive, and Tucker calls on his partner, they try to figure out why her business was targeted. When their landlady and friend is attacked the same day, they discover that someone thinks there is something valuable hidden in the shop. Tucker's protective instincts kick in and he doesn't want to let Cassidy out of his sight.

There are sparks between Tucker and Cassidy that continue to grow as they spend more time together. Tucker is a man with some tragedy in his past that makes him more sensitive to the things that have affected Cassidy. I loved his support of her as the mystery brings unhappy memories to haunt her. I also loved seeing what a big part of his life Bailey is. Any man that is so good with his dog has definitely got a good heart. Cassidy is an independent woman because she's had to be. Her family wasn't supportive of her dreams, so she's had to depend on herself before she joined up with her friends. Her sister's suicide has left her feeling guilty because they had never really gotten along and didn't reconcile before Leah's death. And the end of her engagement has her questioning her judgement of her relationships. It's something of a relief to her to be able to lean on Tucker. I loved seeing that immediate connection between them, and how it makes it easier for them to open up with each other. Though each is reluctant to believe that they could fall in love so quickly, they really can't deny the strength of their feelings.

The secondary characters of Lilah, Violet, Max, Jo and Max Senior, are all terrific. Each one is as deeply involved in this book as the main characters are. Jo and Max Senior, as the keepers of the secret, believe that they are keeping the others safe by not telling. Getting them to spill the beans isn't easy, especially as they've kept it for so long. There are some interesting vibes between these two that make me think they're more than just friends. I loved Cassidy's partners Lilah and Violet, both of whom have strong personalities of their own. Lilah seems to have some trouble in her past that have made Cassidy and Violet very protective of her, but she hasn't let it stop her from doing anything she wants. Violet is a force of her own, and that force often seems to clash with Tucker's friend Max. I suspect that the sparks that fly between them aren't all of the antagonistic variety. I'm looking forward to seeing more of them.

I loved the suspense portion of the book. The premise of the story is believable, and the author does a terrific job of setting it up. There are several secrets, and as each new piece of information is uncovered, it became even more intriguing. There are several instances where we get the point of view of the bad guys, one of whom is pulling the strings of the others. With each attack the danger increases, and our characters become more determined to find out who is behind it. The confrontation at the end solved part of the problem, but there are still questions unanswered.

I have been a big fan of Addison Fox books in the past which is why I chose to read this one. But it didn’t do anything for me this time. After reading the excellent “House of Steele” series, I felt let down with this. The quality wasn’t the same.

This title didn’t capture me and pull me full force into the world of the drama. This is sad since I really liked the author’s work previously. I just couldn’t get into the flow of the text. And I know that could be all me since I have been under a lot of stress at work and the focusing aspect of my brain wasn’t always in the fullest of effect.

I love a mystery and this had a good one. This story started off with a bang… literally. And the male point of view character was there to assist and begin the story. I personally was more interested in the mystery portion of the story than the romance. So when all the kissy-face stuff started, I was turned off immediately.

I know you are saying to yourself “why did she pick up a Harlequin book if she didn’t like romance?”I have found in the past that the books in the Romantic Suspense series are much more suspense than romance. I guess I got used to that format and took it for granted.

The basic premise of the book is that a secret held by some old-timers, one of whom owns Cassidy’s building, comes to light and puts Cassidy and her friends in danger. Tucker’s expertise and friends come in handy to assist with solving the mystery before anyone gets killed.

Overall, it was good. Decent. A solid book. I just couldn’t catch the wave of the flow of text and that was probably my own fault. I really enjoyed the mystery and would have liked to see that fleshed out a bit more.

If you love a bit more romance than mystery in a story, then this book is for you. Otherwise definitely check out her House of Steele series. You won’t come away disappointed.

I bought this book with my own money.

Silken Threats is a romantic suspense by Addison Fox. It is one of the books in her Dangerous in Dallas series. The plot twists and turns as they try to find out why someone is targeting Cassidy and her business.
Cassidy Tate has not had things come easily to her. Her family was not supportive of her desire to design wedding dresses. When her sister died, Cassidy had not reconciled with Leah and this guilt stayed with her. She knew Leah was not happy in her marriage; but she didn’t know it would lead to suicide. When this occurred, she was unconditionally supported by her business partners, Lilah Castle and Violet Richardson. The trio met in college and became partners in Elegance and Lace. Lilah did the wedding cakes, Violet was the wedding planner, and Libby provided the one of a kind wedding dresses. None of the three were in a relationship, although Cassidy had just broken her engagement.
Tucker Buchannan was an engineer who had set up Dragon Designs with his partner and best friend, Max Baldwin. Their business office was in the same office complex as Elegance and Lace. It was no wonder that running with his dog Bailey he would happen upon Cassidy as she stared blankly at the sight of her shop in shambles. Someone had ransacked the premises and ruined several gowns and accessories. Why? Tucker, being a ‘fixer” wanted to help Cassidy fix her business. He volunteered to help her clean it up and even offered Max’s participation.
While they wrestle with trying to figure out why someone would do this to Elegance and Lace, a possible romance between Tucker and Cassidy began to flicker. Little did Tucker know when he stopped to help that he would be involved in a mystery that spanned two generations, two countries an ocean apart. He didn’t stop even though he was shot at and Cassidy’s ex-brother-in-law was murdered. Why?
This is a riveting book that draws you in and won’t let go.

Just was not my style, I kept waiting for the mystery part to pick up. It was alright at the start but I was not a fan of the perpetrator being revealed early on.

With its clever storyline and likable characters, the Dangerous in Dallas miniseries is off to an interesting start. There are a large number of mysteries to be solved, and lots of suspense happens along the way to uncovering much needed answers. The lives of several individuals also become entangled as they become caught up in the unfolding events related to decades old secrets. Endangerment and romance are skillfully interwoven throughout SILKEN THREATS. Addison Fox definitely lets her vivid imaginings turn into a story filled with danger and many surprises.

During his daily run before work, the peaceful quiet Tucker Buchanan usually experiences is interrupted by a loud scream. He finds a frightened woman in front of a store located several blocks away from the architectural firm he co-owns. When they go inside the bridal boutique which is run by dress designer Cassidy Tate and two other women, much damage is found. After the shock wears off, anger sets in when she realizes nothing was actually stolen. The building they use is in an area where old warehouses have been turned into businesses, and there has never before been any trouble.

As Cassidy ponders the reason for what occurred, Tucker asks questions about who could be responsible for tearing up the place. One potential answer as to why someone was there is because the culprit was looking for an unknown object. When Cassidy talks with her two business associates, they come up with no motive. Tucker gets his own partner to help with the cleanup, and the group keeps trying to uncover any facts. It quickly becomes apparent that whoever broke in is not giving up when more threats take place. Tucker may have just met spirited redhead, yet he feels compelled to make certain she remains unharmed and will even resort to using what he learned in the military.

An intriguing premise makes for numerous compelling scenes in the first book of the Dangerous in Dallas miniseries. Addison Fox takes an actual historical item and lets her imagination create a plot focused on it which is certainly original. There are a bunch of secrets in the story, and the facts behind many of them are astonishing when finally revealed. What happened years ago could indeed affect the present, and how Ms. Fox presents the details in her story left me wondering about the possibilities. It was definitely exciting to consider such an incident as real.

Quite a few characters in the story captured my thoughts and made me really like them. Tucker is a wonderful hero with a compassionate nature and sticks to his convictions. When he gives his word to someone, that person knows he can be counted on in the future. Love for his dog, Bailey, made him all the more endearing, as I adore someone who is so thoughtful of their animal companions. Cassidy had to overcome several dramatic events in her past, and her heartfelt conversations with Tucker really touched me. When these two met, I could immediately sense the connection, and it was enjoyable to see how their bond continued to grow. The passion between them is very genuine and expressed with honest feelings. The individuals with whom Tucker and Cassidy worked are all fascinating in their own ways, and I look forward to reading more about Max, Violet and Lilah. SILKEN THREATS is enchantingly romantic plus packed with loads of mystery.

Today's post is on Silken Threats by Addison Fox. It is the first in her Dangerous in Dallas series. It is 282 pages long and is published by Harlequin. The cover has the two main character's about to kiss. The intended reader is someone who likes suspense, romance, and interesting plots. There is some sex, some language, and some violence in this book. The story is told from the third person close of the two main characters; with villains thoughts added in for plot development. There Be Spoilers Ahead.

From the back of the book- Everyone has secrets, and some will kill to keep them buried...
It stared with a break-in. And though normally wedding dress designer Cassidy Tate could have handled it, having Tucker Buchanan's strong arms, quick wits and great dog as backup was reassuring! The former army engineer turned architect was the perfect guys in an emergency- and the fact that he was willing to pick up the pieces was even more appealing.
Because it turned out it wasn't a simply robbery. Someone was after something in the shop Cassidy and her fellow bridal boutique owners shared. Now Tucker didn't want to let Cassidy out of his sight. But was that to protect her- or claim her for his own?

Review- The blurb is not bad but Tucker is not like that. The plot is really interesting in fact the only problem I have is the changing of villains half-way through. Cassidy's ex-brother-in-law is the villain for the first half then her ex for the last half. Other than that I liked this novel. It is very different from everything else that I have been reading lately. It was fact-paced plot, interesting characters, and decent dialog. Normally a Harlequin is not my style but this sounded so fun that I just had to read it and I am glad that I did. The sex is more implied than anything and the violence is in an action movie kind of way. I liked all the characters and I think that I may read the next ones in the series because of the overall mystery. At the end who the real villain is still is unclear and what is driving him. All in all good fun read.

I give this book a Four out

I was very disappointed. My first introduction of Ms. Fox came with her House of Steele series which I enjoyed. There were times while reading this book I wondered was it really the same author. The plot was a bit far fetched but I could go with that. For whatever reason the storyline was just not well put together. Past histories of the h/h seemed added in as afterthoughts instead of being actual parts of the story. I believe there will be at least 2 other books in this Dallas series so I am hopeful that the others will be better

I really enjoyed this book and recommend it to readers of this genre. The only issue i had with it, and have with a lot of books in this genre, is how quickly the relationships advance. Looking forward to ready the other books in this mini series.

Loved the characters, especially Tucker, the hero, and Bailey, his dog! Although not born and raised in Dallas, I have lived here for 20+ years, and enjoyed recognizing the setting.

A fun, light-hearted mystery romance. Three ladies own a wedding business and two men come to the "rescue" when it's broken into. Some very good one-liners!
