This is my first time reading Burmese stories. Some stories reminds me of the current political situation in Indonesia which is the democracy feels like a myth. My favorite story was the one written by San San Nweh “The Children Who Play in the Back Alleyways”. This story was not passed the censorship of Press Scrutiny Board back then.

Gives a sense of what it is like to write about a nation allegorically, yet ironically. The introductions were helpful to grasp- the stories themselves were ephemeral.
