I'm sure you guys know how much I absolutely LOVE @ books but I'm going to tell you again. I LOVE HER BOOKS! She always has the perfect amount of sports, sass, spice and melting. She has a football and hockey series and I've loved every single one of them. This is an interconnected series but read them all because they are AMAZING. I own like 4 copies of each book. I swear they are good 🤣

Mase
We have seen him in all of the hockey books but he was always silent unless he was offering to run a jerk over in his truck or punching said jerk in the face. Possibly a secret vampire, anti social gamer who is protective of those that get past his walls. Especially protective of women and does not tolerate abusers/cheaters. He is an amazing goalie but haunted by nightmares he gets as much sleep as I do (spoiler it's not much lol) I loved how he hardly talks to anyone but after getting his butt handed to him in his favorite game by the hot neighbor he can't help but want more. I loved how much he respects women and didn't even question her skills because she is a girl. He steps up when needed and doesn't back down. Plus he radiates "touch her and 🗡" energy.

Taryn
A strong willed and tough female gamer who is not here to play your games. She will not tolerate being disrespected and she will speak her mind. I love her! She is also such a kind gentle soul who makes sure everyone around her is taken care of even a random stranger who drove into a ditch because they fell asleep at the wheel. My heart broke for her throughout the story but I also admired her strength. Her strat at the end had me so excited and made me want to watch her play for real. She takes everything as it comes to her and solves any problems that may occur. She's seriously the best.

I loved how we didn't "fix" the mom but accepted her and supported her. We never made her feel a burden and in return she stepped up to help whenever needed.

Also I laughed way too hard. No matter the animal we all spell t-r-e-a-t-s because they all learn that word faster than anything. I need more Sunny. Ducks are one of my favorites and I absolutely read this book while I was under my duck blanket!

My favorite part of Nikki's writing is that she doesn't just write about a random topic. She writes about things she loves and knows. Her knowledge of sports and videogames always shine in her stories and it makes it so much more enjoyable to me. I watch and play sports and videogames so it's always nice when I don't have to get annoyed about incorrect facts. She knows Her stuff and confirms it before putting it in her books.

Don't forget to get the bonus epilogue!!

Finally, we get Mase’s story! Nikki Hall’s books are always quick, fun, and easy reads for me, but something about this installment made me slow down and really savor it.

Mase carries deep trauma from the way his father treated him while he was growing up, including various forms of abuse and neglect. As a result, he struggles with chronic insomnia that seeps into every part of his daily life. He has developed coping mechanisms, but he cannot remember the last time he slept through the night. That changes when he accidentally falls asleep on his neighbor’s couch during a movie night. For the first time in years, he experiences real rest.

Taryn, meanwhile, is not looking to add romance to her already full plate. She spends her time supporting her agoraphobic mother while building her own path as a competitive gamer. A relationship is the last thing she needs. Still, she does not entirely hate the idea of the quiet, reclusive hockey goalie next door becoming her cuddle buddy.

This story delivers all the elements I have come to love and expect from the Teagan University hockey crew. There are roommates competing over something ridiculous, ongoing duck antics, and the heartwarming presence of found family. At the same time, the stakes are raised when Mase discovers he has a younger brother he never knew about and suddenly becomes his guardian after their mother dies. It is a life-altering twist, but Mase is not forced to face it alone. His supportive roommates immediately rally around him, and with Taryn and her mom stepping in to help, the chaos slowly finds order.

One of the strongest aspects of this book is its thoughtful handling of mental health and grief. There is no shame here, only a steady community of people who show up for one another again and again. Mase’s complicated feelings about his family, especially his late mother, are portrayed with nuance and care. The story acknowledges the weight of his emotions without allowing them to overshadow the tenderness and hope at its core.

I have truly enjoyed this series, and I hope this is not the last we see of the Teagan University hockey and football crews. These characters feel like old friends. I have no doubt that Eva will manage to pop up in future books, even if she doesn’t make an on page appearance. Overall, this was a satisfying and heartfelt conclusion to a thoroughly enjoyable series.

I am thankful to have received a complimentary eARC from the author, which gave me the opportunity to share my voluntary thoughts.

This is the fourth book in this impressive series, and this is Mace and Taryn’s story.
Mace is a hockey goalie, who is broken, exhausted, and dreading going through the draft and ending up at the team his father works for, and Taryn is stubborn neighbor with a dog which Mace complains about. A surprise complication has both Mace and Taryn rethink their futures, and what they mean to each other.
This is a well written easy to read story, with family, friendships, emotions, tension, survival, grumpy / sunshine, duck / dog shenanigans, humour, witty banter, healing, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, and heartfelt, college hockey romance.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

No...this can't be the end of the hockey boys of TU!!! We need more...next generation please!!! Maybe cameos of the boys as parents supporting their children in the PWHL or NHL, or their TU team. We need more!!!

Let's start with the ⭐️⭐️⭐️of the game/book! 1st ⭐️ goes to Sunny. That duck made me laugh so many times, especially imagining Reece, and Cole fighting over her and her choosing Andrew instead of either of them. The dog/duck relationship was great too! 2nd ⭐️ Andrew, that boy is exactly what Mase needed. He brought out the best in Mase and finally made him put impenetrable walls between them and their toxic father. 3rd ⭐️ would have to be Taryn's mom. She is blunt and too the point talking about Hockey babies right from the beginning. If anyone could get Mason Black to blush it would be her. Honorary mention to the roommates, keeping us entertained while supporting our grumpy goalie.

Taryn and Mase are two independent individuals who have survived more than anyone their ages should have endured. They both hide away from relationships and would rather be alone than outside with others. Taryn interactions with the outside world is done primarily through a webcam and computer screen while Mase hides behind a goalie mask on the ice. Mase does hang out with his friends but he prefers his basement sanctuary. Taryn's trauma comes from the hands of a stranger while Mase's comes from his father's hands and mother's abandonment.

Mase and Taryn met when Mase broke from exhaustion but he doesn't remember most of that interaction. They passed each other as neighbors many times but didn't really talk until he asked for some peace and quiet, her dog Hudson kept barking when he was trying to sleep. This meeting lead to a game off and slowly they became unlikely friends. They shared details they usually kept hidden and supported each other. They saw the worst and had each other’s backs. Taryn and his roommates fought right along side Mase when it came to helping him with his brother, he never knew existed. They became a family without even trying. Soon what started off as a spontaneous half truth became real and temporary became forever. Taryn and Mase would go to the ends of the earth or video game to protect the other no matter what. These two broken people found the pieces they needed to heal. They definitely are stronger together and with the support of their friends who became family they could weather any storm and make their respective dreams a reality!

I loved Mase in all the previous books. He was always the quiet protector of the group. Always watching, ready to react if needed. He might have been standoffish and closed off at times but he did it to protect himself. He set boundaries even though his teammates continuously pushed them. I will always choose the goalie as my favorite player on a team. Mase showed that he could be soft and gentle as well in caring for Sunny and how he was with Eva and the girlfriends, even when they annoyed him.

Taryn was more of an unknown before this book. We had met her in passing but didn't know much about her. Being neighbors with the hockey boys couldn't be easy especially when they had guests and parties but they were good boys. All Taryn seemed to need to be happy was a safe place for herself, Hudson, and her mom. She felt safe after moving. She also needed WiFi and a great setup for her gaming livestream. She was one of the rare female gamers, making a living doing what she loved. She wasn't competing anymore but that didn't stop her competitive streak. Girl gamers were often overlooked or belittled during competitions. They faced challenges other male gamers did not have to deal with and they rarely were seen as professional or offered spots on teams. If anything, most were seen as publicity stunts. Taryn hated that and fought for her place, making those that doubted her eat their words. She could win against the best! Even though she was a homebody she was willing to step out of her comfort zone to help Mase and Andrew more than once proving that they matter!

I loved this book and it was a great ending to this series! Though I think we need a next generation or reunion book with all the hockey boys set in the future. Thank you Nikki for an amazing series that had me laughing and crying and wanting to punch toxic people more than once. That includes Coach a few times. I am so grateful for your team choosing me to receive an ARC and having the opportunity to review!

Amazing!!

I loved this story just as much as the rest of the series—maybe even a little more. Honestly, when Nikki Hall writes, I read. Every single time. From the very first page to the final chapter, I was completely drawn in. She has this incredible way of pulling you into the story right from the beginning and holding you there until the very end.
This entire series has been amazing, and Ice Cold Goal was another reminder of why I love it so much.
Mase is everything I adore in a grumpy hockey hero. He might be one of the grumpiest men in the series, but wow… he is also incredibly swoony. And let’s be honest—he’s a hot one. Beneath that grumpy exterior is a fiercely protective man, and when that side of him shows up, it shows up in full force.
What I loved most about Mase is that his protectiveness isn’t just for Taryn. It stretches to everyone he cares about. Watching him step into the role of big brother for the little brother he didn’t even know he had was such a powerful part of the story. You could really feel how much that meant to him. He’s also fiercely loyal to his friends, always having their backs, and I absolutely loved seeing how protective he became of Taryn’s mom as well. It really showed the depth of his character and the huge heart hiding underneath all that grump.
And Taryn? She is just as protective in her own way and an absolute badass. She can hold her own with Mase without hesitation, which makes their dynamic even better. Neither of them backs down easily, but that’s exactly what makes them work. Their chemistry is undeniable right from the start, and every scene between them felt charged with tension, emotion, and connection. It’s obvious they’re meant to be.
What I loved most is how natural their relationship felt. Even with the push and pull, you always know these two are going to find their way to each other.
I also have to give a special shoutout to Sunny the duck 🦆 because honestly, Sunny steals the show more than once. Every scene with that duck brought a smile to my face. Everyone needs a duck like Sunny in their life.
My only complaint? I didn’t want this story to end. Not even a little bit. After spending so much time with this series and these characters, I’m just not ready to say goodbye. I want to know more about their lives and where they all end up.
I need the story from ten years down the road. I want to know what everyone is doing, where life has taken them, and what the future looks like for them all.
So Nikki Hall… if you’re listening, I need more. I really need more.

ICE COLD GOAL is the fourth instalment in Nikki Halls’ contemporary, new adult BEYOND THE ICE erotic, college hockey romance series focusing on the Teagan University Wildcats hockey team. This is goalie Mason ‘Mase’ Black, and professional gamer Taryn Levine’s story line. ICE COLD GOAL can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Mase and Taryn) ICE COLD GOAL focuses on the building romance and relationship between our story line couple Taryn Levine is a professional gamer but a stalker forced Taryn and her mother to move, landing as the new neighbor’s to Teagan University’s hockey players. Mase Black is the star goalie, and his university career is the stepping stone to professional hockey but Mase’s ghost continue to haunt our story line hero, and Taryn Levine is the balm to the demons that are riding our story line hero. As Mason and Taryn’s relationship quickly turns into something more, the past returns in more ways than one, and Taryn is about to pay the price for falling in love.

The world building focuses on several pathways including the relationship between our story line couple, Mase’s preparations for the pros, Taryn restarting her career, and a lifetime struggle for our story line hero.

The relationship between Mase and Taryn begins acrimoniously but a night of gaming, ended with Mase getting a full night’s sleep without the interruptions by the demons from his past. Mase struggles between head and heart yet discovers a kindred spirit in the woman with whom he will fall in love. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of familiar, and energetic secondary characters including Mase’s teammates and roommates: Reece and Kenzie, Cole and Avery, Gavin and Eva. We are introduced to Taryn’s mother Carrie, and Mase’s father William Black.

ICE COLD GOAL is a story of power and control, betrayal and obsession, family and relationships, acceptance and love. The character driven premise is intriguing, inviting and emotional; the romance is spicy; the characters are animated and real.

4.25⭐️ 2.5🌶️ ARC REVIEW: 📖 ICE COLD GOAL 📖 by Nikki Hall ✨ This is book 4 in the Beyond the Ice series. I read and loved the first 3 books, and couldn’t wait to finally get broken boy Mase’s story. It’s a grumpy x sunshine, neighbors to lovers college hockey romance with banter, he falls first, found family, and duck shenanigans. 🤣 Don’t forget to read the bonus epilogue! What a great conclusion to this series.

Mason Black is the introverted hotshot goalie that plays video games in his basement and uses his size to keep people at a distance. His dad abused him, and his mom left him at age 11, so he thinks nobody will stay and there’s no point in letting anyone get close. Controlling his environment means he won’t be vulnerable. Until he meets Taryn Levine, the pro gamer neighbor with colorful hair and a Frenchie that barks at his duck 🦆 Sunny. She is healing from her own trauma, and provides a safe space for Mase to open up.

It was beautiful how Taryn helped Mase learn that he didn’t have to keep people at arm’s length, that he was enough and worthy, and that people choose to stay. I liked Taryn - she had a perfect balance of strong and soft. She taught Mase that he didn’t have to let his past dictate his future. I also loved the found family—his roommates, Reece and Cole are there for him and don’t let him push them away (no matter how much he’d rather isolate from people). They give him space but always have his back.

❤️ He’s a great duck 🦆 dad
❤️ He doesn’t sleep - thoughts don’t turn off
❤️ His dad said he was too big/slow/stupid and not good enough 🥺🥺🥺
❤️ He doesn’t want to be a burden
❤️ You’re doing so good 😮‍💨
❤️ 🖐️🍑
❤️ Aftercare 🙌🏻🫶🏻

Favorite quotes:
I was broken, and the only time I felt whole was on the ice—or with Taryn.

"Thanks for letting me in, Mase.”

My chest ached as I finally admitted to myself I wanted that. I didn't trust anyone to stay, but I was willing to take a chance and see.

"I missed you," he murmured against my lips, and I melted.

"Thanks. By the way, what's a puck bunny?"
He laughed. "Not you. Never you."

"For a grumpy vampire, you're pretty good at this romance thing."
"Only with you.”

Mason had a terrible childhood growing up because his father was abusive and forced him to play hockey. When he was 11 years old, his mother left on Christmas Day and his dad threw all of his Christmas presents away. He has trouble sleeping because his dad used to make him wake up at random times to run hockey drills. His dad finally stopped physically beating him when he was big enough to fight back in high school and now he spent the last four years being the goalie at TU.
However, due to the trauma of his childhood, he cannot sleep and goes days without sleep, and it leads to him crashing his truck in a ditch and tearing his next-door neighbor finding him and calling his friends. Mason and Taryn run into each other again when he goes over to tell her that her dog is barking at his window nonstop and causing him not to be able to sleep. She invites him in and they play video games together. Taryn is a professional video gamer and her mother was attacked in an alleyway so now she has become a hermit. Mason and Taryn try to fight their feelings for each other, but end up giving in and shortly after that, Mason‘s grandmother shows up with a nine-year-old boy that is Mason‘s brother that he did not know about. Come to find out that’s why Mason‘s mom left when he was 11 was to get away from the father and raise the next son Andrew without all the physical violence, but Mason is upset because she chose better for him, but did not choose it for Mason. Now the mother is dead, and Mason is his little brothers guardian. Terrence‘s mom helps watch Andrew since she does not leave the house and they end up turning their spare bedroom into his room and Mason sleeps with Taryn and then they have Mason‘s little duck sunny and Taryn‘s dog Henry. Mason and Andrew‘s father shows up and makes threats and threatens Terrence, so Mason tries to escape and move back into his house to protect her, but it doesn’t end up working. The father still confronts her at one of the hockey games and then attacks her in the parking lot of one of her game off.
Mason and Taryn ended up getting engaged, but the father steals her wedding ring when he attacks her. He ends up going to jail for the attack and Mason turns down the deal to play for his dad‘s team and gets to stay in Dallas and play with his friends.

Wow! What a way to end our beloved Hockey boys series with a BANG! We had only mere glimpses of Mase throughout the Beyond the Ice series and I just had to get more one on one time with this hunky brooding goalie, if ya know what I mean. Mase and Taryn have the best and the snarkiest interactions from their very "first" introduction. Taryn is exactly what I always aspire to be: a smartass, badass female with the flair for dramatics and a wicked mouth to match. Having her as a gamer girl made her the ultimate dream girl handpicked just for Mase, whether he would admit to it in the beginning or not. Their chemistry and fierce loyalty to each other and their loved ones was such a pleasure to read along with and experience. There were some delightful new characters we got to be introduced to along with all our favorite hockey boys and their better halves, we can all agree those sexy hockey men are so much better off with their smart and wickedly beautiful counterparts. Nikki Hall always does a great job of reminding us how important our found family is and the bonds that can never be broken. And speaking of broken, Mase and Taryn may have hard edges thanks to trauma from their past, but together they are able to overcome the hardships and find their shiny smooth edges once again. I for one cannot wait to see what is next in store for Nikki Hall's next series.

4/5⭐️ 1/5🌶️

It’s bittersweet saying goodbye to this group of friends, and Mase was a solid choice to close out the series.

Grumpy and isolated are accurate descriptors for Mase, but this book does a great job digging into the why behind those traits. We see his deeply protective nature, which I loved, and watch him slowly open himself up to the possibility of a happy life and a loving family. While there are several introspective moments that feel a bit rushed or disjointed, they still come together to form a well-rounded understanding of who Mase is and everything he’s endured to get there.

Taryn was a pleasant surprise. She’s not a typical heroine, but she’s exactly what Mase needed. Despite her own past, she offers him a safe place without hesitation—opening her home and her life to him with surprising ease. She’s strong, successful, and takes no nonsense, and I really enjoyed how fiercely she protects the people she loves.

That said, I was sad with how little we saw of Cole and Reece, as I think they could have added more depth to Mase’s character growth. There were also moments where certain plot elements felt unnecessary or out of place. While Mase and Taryn’s relationship was sweet, it did feel a bit rushed overall.

A fitting conclusion to the series, even if it wasn’t without its flaws.

I was beyond excited to get more of Mase—the grumpy, basement-dwelling goalie for the Teagan University hockey team. He’s definitely not the sunshine type; he’s more like a vampire with his strange sleep schedule. But he does have one bright spot in his life: Sunny, his pet duck. Unfortunately, Sunny has been tormenting the neighbor’s dog, who won’t stop barking and keeping Mase awake. Fed up, Mase decides to confront the neighbor—enter Taryn. They’ve crossed paths before, and while Mase’s broody demeanor might intimidate others, Taryn is unfazed. She’s used to dealing with moody guys in the gaming world and is more than ready to handle him. When Mase actually manages to sleep through the night after they spend time together, he starts to wonder if it’s a fluke and asks her to stay over again. As they grow closer, their attraction deepens—but not without complications. A brother Mase never knew about suddenly appears, bringing the news that their mother has passed away. At the same time, Mase is forced to confront the father he’s kept at arm’s length for years. Through it all, Taryn helps him become a better man off the ice. He may be one of the best goalies in college hockey, but he’s been holding himself back—and with Taryn’s support, he finally starts to face the things he’s been avoiding.

4.5 rounded up to 5

Mase has always held himself apart for the rest of his teammates. The brooding goalie would rather spend time in the basement with his pet duck playing video games and sleeping at odd hours. Only his neighbor's dog keep him up. Taryn is used to dealing with boys who think they're better games than her. Her streaming channel might be doing well, but she still feels she has a lot to prove. When Mase shows up at her door to complain about her dog, she's ready to send him home with his tail between his legs, only this man doesn't back down for her challenge.

I have been waiting for Mase's book since the very start of the series and Nikki did not disappoint. Mase and Taryn are my favorite couple from TU (Nikki's football series included). I absolutely adored their dynamic of black cat and rottweiler. Both hurt, both fiercely protective, and both so willing to love despite their standoffish demeanor. I knew I was a goner from the moment Mase just wanted to be near her to sleep. Then Mase's younger brother showed up, and both of their protective sides came out in full force. What a way to end a great series!

Beyond The Ice #4

This is Mason "Mase" Black's story. He's one of the best goalies in college hockey. He lives with roommates/teammates but would rather keep to himself. Living in the basement with his pet duck Sunny, he spends time playing video games and keeps weird sleeping hours. The problem with that is the neighbor's dog barks and keeps him up. So What choice does he have other than to go over there and ask her to take care of her dog.

Taryn Levine has met Mase before and when he tells her the dog is causing problems, it barks. "I sleep at random times. I want you to keep your dog quiet." "Why would I assume you'd be sleeping during the day like a vampire?" Then she challenges him to play Citadel and if he beats her she will supervise the dog's times. What he doesn't know is that she is a professional who plays video games and has her own streaming channel.

This is just the beginning of them. They start spending time together and grow closer. They both are fighting demons from their past slowly opening up to each other. Then Mase has a surprise show up.

4.5 stars
Such an emotional roller coaster for both of them. Learning to trust was hard. A good read!

Taryn, she is fascinated of Mason and can’t stay away
Mason, he needs her for for his sanity

Quote: “...How I missed holding you at night and waking up next to you in the morning. I want all that. I want you. You have every right to tell me to fuck off, but I hope you won’t.”

Mason, Taryn and a special journey

This is the last installment and a special one too. this amazing series has come to an end. And finally our special goalie gets his own happy end.
With the gamer girl next door that accepts him and his ways. She instinctively knows how to handle him and when he needs what.
She is perfect for him because she isn’t the usual cuddle girlie girl.
Mason is truly something else. But deep down he is very caring, supporting and has a big heart. His story was very bad in his younger years but developed into such a found family story with finding someone he never knew that existed.
We get to know the stories of both characters which are sad and both learned a lot from that and each other.
Taryn has a lot to handle herself but effortlessly takes Mason in and all that comes with him.
Along with his wonderful friends their conclusion was perfectly brought to a circle. Closure for everyone in a beautiful way.

Mase for the win!!!!

Gahhhhh I know this was a labor of love and then some for Nikki but holy moly that was a great show!!! I was Mase’s no one fan from day one and I knew his story was going to take work. And I need to thank Nikki for her perseverance to bring us this closure.

Taryn was beautiful and gosh did I absolutely adore Carrie and Andrew. Found family isn’t always a trope that I have a bond with especially when it’s spiders out but the entire squad is damn near perfect.

What an ending to Beyond the Ice.

If you found this book without reading any of the other books I beg you to please start with book one. I know these are all interconnected standalone books BUT you have to read them from the start I promise you will not regret it. And honestly to see Masons growth bc you really need to see his vampire tendencies from the start to really connect with him in his own book. I don’t want anyone to take his growth away from him bc you don’t know how far he has come to allow Taryn and Andrew to really truly save him 🩵💙

Again Nikki thank you for being able to see them through the other side!!!

I was excited for this book for so long and Nikki Hall did not disappoint. I had always been intrigued by the stoic, yet sweet Mase and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know more about him and seeing his softer side.
Mase and Taryn were a match made in heaven, they both experienced some trauma in the past however they were stronger because of it. Their experiences helped them understand and accept each other for who they were. These two complemented the other perfectly. The attraction between them was insta and the chemistry was electrifying.
I loved Taryn's fierceness, boldness and independence . Mase's walls came down when he was around her and it was great seeing him open up to someone.
The found family vibes in this book was the best, how Mase's friends supported him through everything was heartwarming. I enjoyed the dynamic between Taryn and her mom as well.
Sunny and Hudson definitely brought the cuteness factor. This book had me laughing with all the antics from Mase's teammates, and the pets, swooning from Mase's overrall sexiness and on the edge of my seat in certain instances.
Overrall this was an enjoyable end to another fantastic series.

Sunny makes this book good. The teammates’ banter and fighting for her affections are what kept this book tied together and gave it that whimsy and fun I’ve come to love in this world.
I liked this, but I really wished Mase sought some help with a professional for his mental health. Leaning on Taryn for everything is not cool and it’s not her job to ‘fix’ him. He needs to do that for himself . Even at the end it’s not something I could see as a healthy relationship and I don’t see these two lasting, which I have to assume was not the goal, but it’s what I got out of it.
There are a lot of big issues that aren’t really developed beyond very base levels and it felt like we needed more.
If you’re just after a broody/grumpy guy falling, this will definitely work for you

I'm so excited that we finally get to know all the dirt and details about Mase!

Taryn, his video playing neighbor and her dog, somehow are the magic combination the broody, tattooed goalie needs to finally get some sleep! Whatever it is about their connection -it finally helps him face and conquer his demons, and even better - open up to the found family he has in his roommates/teammates and build something with Taryn, Andrew, and Carrie.

It was a dark backstory for Mason/Mase, and it broke my heart. Taryn had her own struggles, although I feel like I would have loved a flashback or something to really uncover all the trauma that she and her mom were living with. We get a glimpse, but I think their story would have hit me deeper if I saw a little more of it through their eyes.

Thank you to the author for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Great story - I'm looking forward to going back and reading the whole series again now that they've all got their individual stories....but now I have to figure out what to read next! ;-)

I feel like I’ve been waiting forever for Mase’s story. Throughout the series, he’s been this mysterious side character who always intrigued me, so I was beyond excited that we finally got his perspective. Everything clicked into place…the reasons behind his actions, his guarded nature, all of it. Once we were inside his head, my heart absolutely broke for him.

I loved watching him slowly open up to Taryn. There’s something so powerful about two broken people finding each other and choosing to heal together. Those relationships often feel the strongest because they truly understand one another and instinctively become exactly what the other person needs. And Mase and Taryn showed up for each other in every way.

We’d seen glimpses of Mase’s protectiveness before, but when it came to Taryn and his family, it came out in full force…and I loved every second of it. I’ll never get tired of a fiercely protective man.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed Mase and Taryn’s story. It was emotional, heartfelt, and completely worth the wait.

Oh mase is deff competeing with cole for my favorite of the hockey boys. though book wise, i might be a bit biased since i'm a game streamer myself, but this has beaten ice cold heart as my favorite from this series. there was a lot to unpack in this book, between the trust issues both characters had as well as both of their seperate traumas. taryn's with her fears concerning her mom's well being and the dangers she could face if she did a gaming competition again. and mase's with his father back in the picture, as well as suddenly gaining a younger brother he just learned the existance of, whom he now is the legal gaurdian of. so he has to navigate that, as well as keep his brother safe from their father. one thing that sets this book from the others really is there isnt much to any miscomminucation, and any misunderstandings are cleared up very fast. story wise it seems like it starts off on the slower side but it picks up quickly. i quite enjoyed reading this story.

The final book in the Beyond the Ice series follows college hockey goalie Mace and his gamer girl neighbor Taryn. Mace suffers from insomnia and thanks to his sidekick pet duck, Sunny, he catches Zzz’s and feelings in the arms of the girl next door.

Overall, I enjoyed the book. Having read all of Nikki Hall’s catalog I’ve been reading about the players of Teagan University for a while now. Her character's background build how they see themselves but once they meet their love interest they realize how they see themselves isn’t an accurate representation of who they really are.

If you are looking for interconnected stand-a-lones in a college setting with hockey royalty, found family, roommates, and open door spice with the one they fall hard and fast for, then check out the Beyond the Ice series.

I COULDN'T STOP THINKING ABOUT THE GAMER GIRL WHO'D KICKED MY A**

Show me what you got, hot shot

"Thanks. By the way, what's a puck bunny?"
"NOT YOU. NEVER YOU."

What a way to end the series! I loved Mase and Taryn’s interactions. Taryn is a smarta** baddie with a flair for dramatics and a smart mouth too! Kind of goes hand and hand as a baddie gamer girl 🔥🔥
Their chemistry is explosive. Loved the new characters too and seeing all our favorite hockey players Nikki’s writing is fantastic pulling me into the story. The found family was beautiful and the journey, the loyalty. Seeing Mase and Taryn work through their pasts and over come them together was amazing! I will definitely be looking forward to more from this author! I love her work.

Well, well, well, Nikki turned my world upside down yet again! This was not what I was expecting of Mase.

It’s a standalone, but her worlds are connected so it’s better to read the others. That statement out of the way, this was not how I saw Mase. He was tall, sexy, and certainly one who kept to himself, well and his pet duck Sunny. So, when he has to go talk to the neighbor and ends up breaking his own rules, well, it’s pretty interesting. The connection they feel is so real and I felt like I was right there with them. And the kicker to this hot neighbor, she’s a pro gamer who teaches Mase a thing or two. And when the unexpected thing happens to rock their world and the way they handle, lets you know just how amazing it is between them.

So, yes, make sure to catch Taryn’s and Mases story because I could not put it down and had to keep coming back for more.

We finally get Mase’s story and the finally book of the series, and Nikki did a fanatic job on this book.

We have Mase who carries deep trauma from the way his father treated him. He grew up with various forms of abuse and neglect. As a result he deals with chronic insomnia that’s part of his everyday life. He has developed a coping mechanism, but he can’t remember last time he has ever slept through the night. That eventually changes when he falls asleep in his neighbor couch during movie night.

Taryn is definitely not looking to add romance to her already hectic life. She spends time with her time with agoraphobic mother and trying to build her career as competitive gamer. Last thing she needs is a relationship, but doesn’t hate being a cuddle buddy to the hockey goalie next door.

If you have not read this series you definitely should, you won’t regret it!

Gaming for the win!

What happens when the taciturn hockey goalkeeper meets a sunshine gamer who settles him? Mase lives in a hockey house with his pet duck, Sunny. He meets Taryn when he goes next door to complain about her barking dog. What starts as irritation becomes something more when Mase is able to relax and sleep around Taryn. When Mase past comes hurtling into the future, Taryn and her mom step in to help creating a family unit that seems to complete them all.
I loved this story for the chemistry and the realism of the Characters. The flaws they own up to and the way they confide in their issues was a great read for me. The journey from neighbours to forever had its ups and downs and a few scary moments that were written with care but kept me hooked until the end!

Finally we know Mase! It takes Taryn, his ace of a video playing neighbor and her dog, to get him out of the basement he hides away in with his demons. The hell that he went through as a child with an abusive father breaks my heart. Taryn is exactly what he needs and just when he thinks he might let his walls down to let her in, a surprise ends up on his doorstep. Now he has even more to handle as a goalie for his college hockey team being drafted to a team that will allow his father to control him again! Such a great story about perseverance and how love can really save you. Love all of Nikki Hall's books and how this series has ended. Bring the whole gang back together again :) Thank you Nikki Hall for the privilege of of receiving this ARC for my honest review.

Woohoo

What can I say? Taryn and Mason's story is fire.

One grumpy goalie, one gamer girl, A duck, A dog, and a 9 yo come together to make a family with her mom. Mase is annoyed by his neighbors dog barking at his duck. So, what's a tired goalie to do? Complain to his owner.

Enter the goalie, vampire, giant knocking on her door and the teal ombre haired woman can't help but challenge Mase. So begins the crazy start, then stop, then start again of their relationship.

The hockey hottie is smitten. She's not far behind. From opening their hearts to complicated family, these two finally get on the same page.

There is a great story surrounding these two which adds to their dynamic. Thoroughly enjoyed this story.

Thanks Nikki. This is another winner.

Ice Cold Goal (some spoilers)

I liked this book but it felt kind of rushed. It seems like everything takes places in a relatively short period of time. It immediately kicks off with some instalove, Mase struggling with the trauma from his childhood, Taryn concerns of public events for her job, surprise Mase has a little brother that’s now his responsibility, active threats from his dad, ignoring Taryn for two weeks but immediately being like I can’t live without you. And that was basically like a 3-4 week timespan. I really enjoyed the other books in this series but this one fell a little flat. I think if everything played out a little longer and I would have liked it better.

This was my favorite book in the series. Taryn (FMC) & Mase (MMC).
Mase has a very difficult past. His mother left him when he was young and he never knew why. He grew up with his dad who was a POS Who mentally and physical abuse him but it help him be a better person and grow up to play hockey in college and hopefully go pro but he wanted to always be alone and was always grumpy.
Taryn was a gamer who lived with her mom and took care of her with everything she is going through. Taryn is a famous gamer who wins competitions but for that she was assaulted and so was her mom and after that she tried to stay lowkey and was home most of the time.
So much happens in this book that it keeps you wanting to read more but i was very happy on how it ended.
