“Maybe I am the villain? Maybe we both are.”
This was an instant 5⭐️ read for me! Honestly, by the time I was 30% in I KNEW this was going to be my new favorite couple in the series. There is so much tension and heat between the leads that it just RADIATED off the page.
“Some days, I don’t understand it either. Hating her is my habit.”
Patterson Cross is a pro-hockey star on his way to breaking the all time scoring record. What he wasn’t expecting was the woman he’s never been able to stop thinking about to walk into practice one day and throw him for a loop.
“Even after all this time, she still controls me without even trying.“
I loved the fact that Kendall dated his twin. It really added to the drama and when everything comes out about how they both felt in the past it just really solidified how much they both care for each other.
“His hands are on my face, and his mouth crashes into mine. The kiss is a weapon, one that destroys me.”
Kendall is an artist powerhouse. I loved all of the descriptions of her artwork and her creative process. Her talent was fully fleshed out in the book and it was perfect.
“You’re poison in my blood.”
“Stop talking dirty to me.”
The banter between these two left me overheating. They may say they hate each other, but their CHEMISTRY is just insane. This book is delightful spicy. It’s a feral claiming between two people that are both in denial of their feelings. I DEVOURED IT. The spice in this book is top notch! 🤭❤️🔥
“I f***ing hate what you do to me.” I breathe against his mouth.
“Good.” He bites my bottom lip, and I gasp. “Hate me harder.”
The ending was also really refreshing because there’s no third act breakup. Once these characters commit, they refuse to let ANYTHING, or ANYONE, come between them. 🥹💖
“I don’t hate you,” she whispers into the night.
“I know, babe. I always knew that.”
I need all my hockey romance book pals to RUN and download this one ASAP. Patterson Cross is waiting for you! 🫶🏼

Hockey player and the coach’s daughter who was also his twin’s fiancée.
The beginning is intense. We see them “hating” each other but we don’t learn the reason straight away.
They have this strange hate/lust relationship and he behaves like a total douche.
Not long after their arrangement, they stop pretending though; the fake hate period didn’t last very long.
Halfway through the story we get the answers to many questions we have regarding their past, which I really appreciated. I still feel like I needed some more insight though.
At first I thought I’d find the brother’s ex trope icky but it was handled really well. I also liked the way Patterson was so determined and put her above everyone and everything. He surpassed my expectations. Both of the MCs were cool and the flow was nice until the end.

If you love enemies to lovers with your hockey romance then THIS is the book for you! WOW 🔥🔥
I have been ready for Kendall and Patterson’s story since The Hookup Situation and it was everything.
The hate to love was so profound and their tension was absolutely delicious.
Patterson Cross is all hockey. He knows he’s the best and doesn’t need to be humble about it. He’s working hard to break the all time record and win the Stanley Cup. Nothing and no one will get in his way.
Kendall Hart is back home after 5 years being away in Europe living out her dream as an artist. She takes a commission job for the hockey team her dad coaches. And who’s their star player? None other than her most hated enemy, Patterson Cross.
8 weeks. Just 8 weeks of them sharing space and then she’ll be gone again. But as the heat rises between them, Kendall realizes she truly can’t stay away from Patterson. So naturally it just makes sense for them to have a little… spicy arrangement? Her rules, her way, no room for anything else. I was eating it UP the way our girl was chasing this man. Dare I say this is my top favorite of Lyra’s books?!?!
The tension. The story. The romance. I loved it all.
When reading the story and getting to such a happy part and thinking “Ok, we getting our happy ending” but then seeing I’m about a little over 50% in!!!!! Ahhh!!!! This book kept me hooked from page 1. I couldn’t put it down.
Thank you for the eARC Lyra. I can’t wait to purchase the paperback and add to my collection.

Thank you to @lyraparish for my ARC! I devoured this book! Patterson was a walking red flag in the beginning, but once the truth was revealed he shot to one of my top book boyfriends. This book definitely proved you don’t get to choose who you fall in love with. My favorite part was that instead of pushing each other away when things got difficult, they chose to work through everything together. This was by far my favorite of the series. I can’t wait for the next one🥰

Ahhh the tension, oh my god! the chemistry! For Patterson, Kendall was the girl he wanted who his twin brother ‘stole’ from him but never got out of his head.
After years of being overseas, Kendall turns up at practice having been awarded a commission to paint the stars of the team for the hockey franchise’s upcoming anniversary.
This has all those enemies to lovers vibes, with brilliant banter, and two very engaging characters who swear they hate the other while secretly holding a torch and lusting after them. The chemistry between these two was off the charts hot, the steam 🔥🔥🔥
The sneaking around and the secrets kept from the people in their lives created another level of tension especially considering her father, his coach, had expressly made her off limits for the team. And did that cause a problem? Of course!
There was good character development as we got to learn more about each of them, the following exchange displaying how far their relationship had come, how much we saw them change with Patterson cooking dinner and Kendall commenting.
““Um… I didn’t know you were capable of this”.
He places his hand over his heart, acting offended. “Give me a break. I’m a hopeless romantic.”
“Ahh”. I nod. “Loving Titanic suddenly makes sense.”
He sits across from me and chuckles. “If you ever tell anyone that, I will deny it.””
Overall, I loved this. I found it hard to put down as I enjoyed reading it so much. Patterson and Kendall were great characters and I highly recommend it!

Patterson Cross is one of the best players in the league and is close to scoring the all-time record number of goals. He’s also cocky and arrogant, and absolutely hates his coach’s daughter, Kendall Hart. She’s his twin brother’s ex-fiance, and now she’s in charge of painting the team’s portraits for the team’s owner.
Kendall hates Patterson right back; she always has, but now she’s back in his circle, this commission could make her career. The two of them clash right away and go out of their way to annoy each other. But when forced to spend time together, they discover that love and hate are very close and there is a fine line between the two. So they give in to their basic desires, but agree to keep it a secret.
I loved these two together. Once they admitted their attraction, it didn’t take long at all for them to fall completely, Patterson first. Patterson as a cocky, brash pest was adorable; Patterson as a besotted puppy dog was even more so.
I think the only thing I couldn’t really gel with was the fact that Kendall’s ex was Patterson’s identical twin brother. Brother, yes; identical twin, not so much. I felt it would probably be a little weird being with someone identical, for both of them. Patterson’s history and back story reasoning were understandable, but I’m not sure how Kendall’s feelings would have worked. Was she with Patterson because he reminded her of Jameson, or vice versa? As long as I didn’t focus on the twin thing too much and just focused on the brother aspect, it was fine.
I did love how Patterson put Kendall first, willing to sacrifice everything for her. I also enjoyed the fact there was no third-act break-up in this or any of the billionaire series.

This is a forbidden, sports romance between a hockey player and the coach's daughter (that is also his twin brother's ex-fiancée).
Patterson and Kendall try to hate each other, but they actually had feelings for each other for years.
There is so much chemistry between them and it is very hard for them to stay away from each other.
Even if they have many reasons why they should not be together, they soon end up secretly hooking up.
I have to say that this is one of the spiciest books in the series.
Considering that they knew each other for years it did not bother me that there was not a slow burn situation.
This was a quick read for me, even if the book is over 400 pages, because I enjoyed the story.
I don't want to spoil anything, but I liked the way Patterson handled the situation with her father and the team.
Also, I liked that there was another set of twins and they switch places at one point.
Even of it is not my favorite in the series, I had a good time reading this story and I cannot wait to read about "The Royal Situation" after the sneak peek from the end.

She used to have a relationship with one of the twin Cross brothers. Kendall had been with Jamie for a while, but something was off in their connection. Things haven't worked out for them, but there was a constant tension when it came to his brother, hockey player Patterson Cross. Sloane had many reasons to stay away from him, mainly because she loathed him and because he was part of the team where her father was coaching. But were those facts enough to make her rethink her suggestion of being friends with benefits with the enemy? No! And when Patterson agreed, things might become even more complicated for them.
I had a great time following that constant banter between Kendall and Patterson🤭. You could feel that it was something more there, the yearning for each other being so strong! You should be prepared for a pretty complicated love story, with many steamy scenes. It had a kind of a love triangle too, but I'm not going to tell much about that, leaving you to find out what was all that about 🤭. Of course, because everything was forbidden, it made this story really interesting, being curious to see how their connection will change after their pact and how things will impact them, if everything would come to surface.
Are you a fan of steamy, sports romance books? Then you should add this book to your TBR. It had a beautiful connection between our main characters, who had an insane chemistry and who slowly became quite obsessed about each other.

Patterson Cross, you had me intrigued since we met you in The Hookup Situation. The book was so much juicier, and honestly, softer, than I expected. Patty was full of angst, and was so delicate. Like.. ok MMC, give me all the feelings. I loved how he was intentional with Kendall when he knew what was at stake and knew her true feelings.
Kendall was perfect. I was so intrigued by her paintings and self expression. The sweetest angel that I needed to have an HEA. I’ll be honest, I didn’t know how I felt about Jameson. I also kind of want him to have a book so I can really change my feelings.
Also.. can I just say I was just as surprised as Kendall was that Patterson was a billionaire when he’s literally on the billionaire series AND I knew about this from the jump? Why did I act shocked?! 😂
@lyraparish, you did what you do best. Pattycakes and Ken Doll five ever. This was a wild and fun ride. I’m so thankful to read this one. Y’all better go check it out!

Oh how I love this series so, so much!!
Also, I love a good enemies to lovers story. The tension and passion and how they will end up together. What's their breaking point? This had a really good lead up and the jealousy that sparked one night that turned into an arrangement, that turned into more. The more being that they've always wanted each other. The only problem is that she's the coach's daughter and oh his twin brother's ex. Now they have to stay a secret for Patterson's career and keeping focus on the ice while Kendall has to pretend she is back with the brother. Can they make it through? What happens when her dad finds out?
Again, if Lyra is writing it, I'm reading it. This did not disappoint~ HEA and no third act break up 💚💙

This book had a bit of everything that the ideal romance needs! It's a book that had me hooked and from around halfway I literally couldn't put it down. It was a really well written story full of yearning and insanley awsome banter. This is book is apart of The Billionaire Situation Series! We follow Patterson Cross and Kendall Hart as they navigate years of hate, longing and uncharted waters. FIND YOURSELF A MAN WHO WOULD GIVE UP HIS WORLD FOR YOU!!! It's was definitely a roller-coaster, and I do love a good sports romance so that was a big bonus. Also, side note, Coach Hart is an absolute legend and I think Lyra captured the whole hockey aspect of the book really well. This book is 100% worth the read.

I was so, so excited for this book because I really love this series as a whole but unfortunately this was a swing and a miss for me.
I enjoy a good enemies to lovers trope but these two were too intense with their hatred for one another only to turn it around on a dime and then be obnoxiously, over-the-top in love with one another. Somehow the chemistry is just missing between them, at least for me. The use of the annoying nicknames through the entire relationship also didn't work for me.
I'm still hopeful for book 7 and am also hoping the last outstanding Cross finds their match!

If you love hockey romance and enemies to lovers then you need to drop everything and read this. The chemistry between Kendall and Patterson was insane! The tension was so high I was basically screaming at them to just kiss already. Their banter was top tier, and I honestly couldn't stop flipping pages because I was so invested in their journey from hating each other to realizing they’re literal soulmates. I’m genuinely sad it’s over because I just wasn't ready to leave their world!

This time around it’s the hockey stars time to shine! Patterson and Kendall are tour average enemies. She ran away 5 years ago but now she’s back to do some paintings of the hockey team.
He hasn’t forgotten her I mean how do you really forget your brother’s ex fiancé. Just one thing, he absolutely hates her, and she hates him. Or do they? To try and get each other out of their system they agree and be friends with benefits. What could possibly go wrong?

Wow, the beginning really made me angry! I was surprised how strongly the words jumped out and affected me. I am so glad things turned around for the better. I'm not sure how much longer I could have taken it. As the story continued, the more sweet, sassy, and funny sarcasm came through. The characters started to be more enjoyable and easy to like. The storyline went smoothly and the energy was amazing. I am voluntarily leaving a review.

This spicy hockey romance was a fun read. Lots of drama and great chemistry, and I definitely flew through parts of it. It did get a little slow at times, but overall it kept me hooked and delivered on the tension. The end got a little messy for me. Overall, very entertaining.

While these two weren't my favorite couple from Lyra, it does hook you right from the beginning with the banter. I did feel this was heavier on the spice than plot and left me wanting more insight on the why behind all the hate (it is explained, but felt it was brushed over and needed more depth).

This book was very cute and I admit it definitely grew on me. The banter between Kendall and Patterson was so funny, intense and passionate. I really enjoyed seeing Patterson show his vulnerable side with Kendall and admit that he loved her. Kendall was such a sweetheart and I enjoyed her character as well. There were times that I wanted to slap these two but other than that I really enjoyed them. The fact that Patterson was willing to risk everything for Kendall, really stuck out to me because it showed me how serious he was about her and how he really loved her. That was some serious character and loyalty. This book was so cute and I’m glad to have continued this series and I can’t wait for Addison’s book!

My first ARC book and I absolutely love it. This is the first book I read in the series and can’t wait to read more. Kendall and Patterson made the line between love and hate blur. I love the Enemies to Lovers trope. Top 10 of the year for me.

Arc Review: Honestly at the start I really could not see why these characters were going to end up together and they were both irritating me to the max. but they did get cute in the end which i really love about lyra’s books. no mater how they start, they always get cute in the end. i’m also now so excited for the royal situation to come out.
