Hannibal Lecter meets Phantom of the Opera
“He broke me to fix me. And I'm still not sure which part I miss more.”
I saw this book by chance on KU. I was hooked from page 1. It’s definitely dark and twisted. An exploitation of the caregiver-patient relationship but it’s dark romance for a reason. I fell for Elias for his brilliance, surgical talent and how he cared for Clara, deep down. I know it’s twisted possession but there was caring devotion and love underneath the darkness.
My heart broke for Clara when she was at her most vulnerable, a dancer whose dreams were shattered, being helpless under Elias’ care. But I loved how fierce she was in trying to survive him and rebuilding her life and career after all the trauma.
I finished this book in a day, it’s 3 am and I already miss them. I feel like their story hasn’t ended. I need part 2.
Brilliant writing, by the way. Finally, I found a book that’s medically accurate.10 stars for me. I need more from Clara and Elias!
