A gothic gamer with black-cat energy and a thriving streaming channel, she spends her nights lost in dark fantasy worlds and monster romance novels. Real men have never held her interest, not after watching her mother’s heartbreak teach her exactly how fragile love can be.
Kassie sticks to what’s her games, her books, and the secret wish that monsters might actually exist.
When her best friend Harlow invites her to move to the strange little town of Arcana Falls, Kassie doesn’t hesitate. The place practically hums with odd energy, whispered legends, and the kind of weird she’s always loved. The two of them settle into their new home, ready to embrace the town’s eerie charm.
But within her first few days, Kassie discovers Arcana Falls isn’t just strange.
It’s supernatural.
And the quiet, unexpected man she meets may be exactly the kind of monster she’s been longing for.
Atlas has never quite fit in, even among mothmen.
Bigger than most, broad-armed and thick through the waist, he spends his days chopping timber from the forbidden forest to help craft furniture for the colony. Hard work suits him. Social grace does not. He trips over his own feet, prefers silence to conversation, and finds comfort in hot chocolate and late-night nature documentaries.
Since drinking from the Falls, Atlas has lived a simple, peaceful life… though one thing about him has never been his mating call is far too strong.
So when the Slenderman mayor asks him to keep an eye on the new human in town, the strange woman who hisses at people, Atlas is reluctant.
Until he sees her.
She’s different. Unpredictable. Magnetic.
And for the first time in Arcana Falls history, a mothman feels the pull of a match.
Atlas may be in over his head… and rest of the town is about to be swept along with him.
Vera Foxx has always been one of my absolute favorite authors for paranormal and monster romance. (I won't even admit to how many times I've reread *Under The Moon* and *Grim*... it's a lot!). This book is exactly why I love her work so much!
Firstly, this book was absolutely hilarious. There were so many times I had to physically stop reading for a second because I was laughing so hard. The dialogue and banter are seriously top-notch! The side characters were also great, and I introduced a whole cast of supernaturals that I can't wait to learn more about as this series progresses.
Our MMC, Atlas, is a Mothman. While there are a few Mothman romances out there, he is definitely not a common topic like wolves or vampires, which already made this story so much fun! It helped that Atlas was such a clumsy, awkward, but utterly lovable sweetheart. I always love it when big, scary-looking monsters turn out to be total softies.
Kassie is our human FMC, and I loved her—I literally felt like she was me! A goth gamer girl with major black-cat energy who doesn't like people but loves her some monster romance books? Imagine her surprise when she realizes she has caught the eye of an actual, real-life Mothman! I loved how she pursued him, too; she didn't try to run away from her feelings even once. They were honestly just so cute together, and the spice? Incredibly hot! Monster smut done exactly right.
The only reason I'm rating this 4 stars instead of 5 is because it felt a bit longer than necessary. Don't get me wrong, Vera Foxx is well-known for her thick books, and normally I don't mind a high page count at all. But this one just felt unnecessarily drawn out in some places.
Regardless, it is still definitely worth the read! I am looking forward to the rest of the series for sure, and this might have just triggered me to do yet another reread of her backlist.
Who knew a moth man that towers above all the other moth men, with deadly talons, and a scream that could bring even Slenderman to his knees, could be so thoughtful, caring, nurturing, devoted, protective, or sexy?! Man, author Vera Foxx really outdid herself here. I have only experienced her writing talents with her Iron Fang MC series—which I love—so seeing her talents expanded into the paranormal realm kinda blows me away. I thoroughly enjoyed I LOVE LAMP—especially the scene related to the title. The humor is eclectically gifted in that there’s something to appeal to everyone: raw, biting, blatantly tongue-in-cheek, and just plain cheeky. There’s drama, action, silliness, and romance. I LOVE LAMP gives Atlas and Kassie a proper spotlight. Allowing us a glimpse into what finding your soul-match looks like, when you have no idea what the signs are, but you know deep in your heart—your soul—that they are your person -er, or monster. Good stuff. *** Recommended ***

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
It’s Mothman May and I kicked it off with I Love Lamp. This book is so much fun! The characters are endearing and I cackled and snickered so much throughout the book.
Kassie is a slightly whimsical, very goth game streamer who wishes monsters were real so she could find her mate, just like in her favorite monster romance books. She’s a black cat who hisses (literally), and has a wicked sense of humor. When she moves to Arcana Falls with her BFF Harlow, she quickly learns appearances can be deceiving and that many of the residents of her new town are not what they seem.
Atlas is quite Kassie’s opposite. Shy and clumsy, he keeps to himself, watches nature documentaries, and carves wood figures. None of the Mothmen in Arcana Falls have found a match, why would he be any different?
Hilarity ensues as Kassie and Atlas navigate the nuances of a human/mothman relationship, deal with a certain rival streamer, and settle into their new, slightly chaotic, life.
If you like sweet monsters, quirky humans, and lots of laughs, definitely give I Love Lamp a read!
Ok what can I say honestly? I mean I had a lot to say in my little notebook about things that made me lol with this book. For instance "NASA announced aliens are not boinkable (👈🏼insert f word here)" Or Atlas calling Kassie "my big, bad, bootylicious, gumdrop, bubble gum" before even meeting her 🤣 Vera how do you come up with this? Kassie is one of my top fav FMC's and isn't afraid to go after what she wants and Atlas was the perfect mess of clumsy and possessive MMC. My favorite part is at the party and he just blurts out "I Love Lamp" and then as I wrong down starts acting psycho. This spice was top notch 🤌🏼. I really hope some of these other characters get their own stories too and if so I cant wait to read them!
Was the scene I fell hard for Atlas! His adorable awkwardness won me over instantly! The way he reacted to Kassies costume had me giggling so hard my husband was asking what was wrong with me. 🤣
Then when the spice hits… Damn, 🫠🥵🔥 this mothman has some very fun 🍆 anatomy 👅
I can’t wait for other matches to happen! I really hope there are more books in the works for this series!
I enjoyed this Mothman romance. I loved Atlas's character, this clumsy adorable mothman. Kassie was everything you could ask for in a goth gamer girl, her sass had me rolling at points. The humor was great in this book but you have to love corny humor to enjoy it. Which I do obviously. I am excited for the Mayor's story next!
The banter is one of the best I’ve read in awhile. And Kassie hissing at everyone…chefs kiss. This book is cute but still has the monster/cryptoid feel to it
