The Bodyguard's Angel - a Mafia Bodyguard Romance

Rate this book
Trapped in an abusive marriage I never chose…

Wishes don’t come true, not for girls born into the mafia. My teenage crush on my brother’s best friend should’ve died the night I was bartered away to a cruel old man. But it didn’t.

Armando Greco is a loyal soldier of the Italian Trio with a heart-stopping smile, deadly aim and a dark secret. When he’s appointed as my temporary protector, he offers to teach me how to fight back against my abuser. When he learns about my naughty Wish List, he’s eager to help with that, too.

Swept away by feelings the word affair can’t contain, he swears no wedding band will stop him from claiming me as his own… against his Capo’s orders and over my husband’s dead body.

But our passion threatens to ignite a new mafia civil war. Is there any hope we can both escape with our lives?

(This is a dual-POV, forbidden mafia romance with spice and some dark elements. Part of an interconnected series involving three crime families where each couple will find their HEA.)

This is my third book by Eileen North and I know without a doubt, I’ll continue to read her books. With that being said, thank to Mrs. North for this arc in exchange for my honest review.✨

We first meet Gia (18/20) and Armando (21/23) in the first book of this series. I know we’re only three books in, but hands down they’re my favorite couple. This was forbidden with a capital F. From the previous books we know Gia is promised to someone else in the first book, but does that stop feeling from forming, nope. There is so much push and pull and angst that you can feel it coming off the pages. Armando has been the layback, funny bodyguard and when his crazy comes out to play, it’s honestly hot. He could literally care less what anyone says or thinks because Gia is his and he does not play around about that. Honestly, writing this review has me feeling giddy. Ugh, I honestly loved Armando so much. Gia has been trapped in a marriage of abuse for the past two years, but by no means is she weak. I loved seeing strong side come out to play and her vulnerablity, she to me felt like a very well rounded character. Gia has a couple of flashbacks of the abuse and starts to have the beginning of what I’d call panic attacks and I wish that would’ve been explored more.

I loved seeing more of Alessio and Armando’s relationship. In this book we seen a different side of Alessio and how he did tried to protect Gia from what she was going through. So, I feel like that was a bit redeeming.

Dare I say this one may be my favorite of the series so far, but I have a feeling Nico’s may just top it. I just know Nico’s story is about be unhinged and I’m really for it like yesterday. 😝 Also, my curiosity is piqued and I wonder if Nerio will ever get his own story.

safety notes:

It’s mentioned that Armando had his fun when he was sulking, but as soon as Gia married he became celibate for those two years.

4.5 ⭐ARC REVIEW 'The Bodyguard's Angel'

♥️ Brothers Best Friend
♥️ Mafia Romance
♥️ Bodyguard MMC
♥️ Touch Her and 💀
♥️ Forbidden Love
♥️ Corruption
♥️ Wish List
♥️ Revenge
♥️ Strong FMC

I have been loving this interconnected series so far! This was the third book in the 'Vows Sworn In Blood' Series.

An action packed story of growth, survival and to fight for those you love. I absolutely loved it!

I loved the Duel POV within this read, capturing the emotions between our characters.

Mia our FMC has unfortunately been married off to an abusive man within the society.
She's also had a crush on her brother's soldier, his best friend, Armando.

MMC Armando has been a faithful soldier within the corrupt Mafia world. He's also had to watch from a boy, a girl he now see's as a fierce and beautiful woman. Watching from the sidelines Mia's abuse wich solidifies his need to take her away for himself, his forbidden love.

This story is a fight for survival, overcoming trauma, and the most beautiful love story.

The protectiveness Armando has for Mia melts my heart. He will risk his own life, he will risk it all to keep her safe.

Thankyou for the opportunity to ARC read for you. I can't wait for the next read in this series!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Bodyguard’s Angel by Eileen North completely stole my heart. This is the kind of mafia romance that wraps around you and refuses to let go. It has angst, danger, forbidden longing, and a hero who had me swooning from the very first page.

Our heroine’s situation is absolutely heartbreaking. Trapped in a marriage she never wanted, bartered like property, she feels powerless in a world where men make all the rules. You can feel her quiet strength though. Even when she believes wishes do not come true, she still holds onto that teenage crush, that tiny spark of hope. Watching her slowly reclaim her power was one of the most satisfying parts of this story.

And then there is Armando Greco. I am obsessed. Loyal to the Italian Trio, deadly with a weapon, and carrying secrets of his own, he is everything I crave in a mafia bodyguard hero. Protective without being suffocating. Fierce without losing his tenderness. The way he steps into the role of her protector and offers to teach her how to fight back is everything. He does not just want to save her. He wants her strong. He wants her safe. He wants her choosing him.

The tension between them is electric. Their history adds so much depth to every look and every touch. When he discovers her Wish List and decides he is more than willing to help her check off every single item, the chemistry explodes. The romance is passionate and intense, but it is also emotional. Their connection goes far beyond physical attraction. It feels inevitable and powerful and completely consuming.

I loved the dual POV because it lets you see Armando’s devotion in full force. He is willing to risk his standing, defy his Capo, and ignite a potential civil war just to claim the woman he loves. That level of loyalty and obsession makes this story unforgettable.

The stakes are high, the danger feels real, and the forbidden nature of their relationship adds constant tension. Yet through all the darkness, there is hope. There is love that refuses to be silenced. And there is a hard earned happily ever after that feels deeply deserved.

If you love mafia romance with a protective bodyguard, forbidden love, high spice, and emotional depth, this book needs to be on your shelf. Eileen North delivered a story that is thrilling, romantic, and impossible to put down. I am already counting down the days until I dive back into this interconnected world.

Spice Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

If you love mafia romance with brother’s best friend, off-limits tension, and a morally grey, protective hero. The Bodyguard’s Angel absolutely delivers.

Armando has spent years as both a trusted member of the Italian Trio and the man responsible for protecting his best friend’s younger sister, Gia. She’s always been off-limits, no matter how strong the pull between them. But when Armando finally starts to see Gia for who she truly is strong, resilient, and far from the girl he once knew his feelings become impossible to ignore.

Gia’s storyline is where this book really shines. Forced into an arranged marriage with a much older man who treats her horribly, she refuses to stay powerless. Watching her take risks, fight for her freedom, and reclaim control over her life made her such a compelling heroine.

And Armando? Peak protective, morally gray MMC. The way he steps in not just to protect Gia, but to teach her how to protect herself adds so much depth to his character. At the same time, he’s carefully navigating mafia politics, trying to take down her husband without sparking a war between families. The tension, the restraint, and the quiet obsession? So well done.

Their chemistry builds through years of history, forbidden feelings, and high-stakes danger, making every moment between them feel earned. When they finally give in, it’s both emotional and satisfying.

Overall, The Bodyguard’s Angel is a gripping mix of danger, romance, and empowerment. With a strong heroine, a fiercely protective hero, and layered mafia dynamics, this book is easily a standout and proof that this series just keeps getting better with every installment.

Tropes:
• Mafia Romance
• Brother’s Best Friend
• Morally Grey MMC
• She’s Off Limits
• Spicy Wish List

****ARC REVIEW****
Sweet, sweet **Armando finally gets his book**… and it was worth the wait. 🔥

Gia is Alessio’s half-sister, and while their relationship is complicated, he still cares about her deeply—so when she’s forced into a marriage with Ritchie, a man whose last two wives mysteriously died, alarm bells are already ringing. Soon Gia is whisked away to Chicago, and the nightmare truly begins. Ritchie’s cruelty leaves marks, and when Armando finally sees the bruises while she’s visiting with Cat, something inside him absolutely *snaps*. The man sees red.

Gia has been quietly crushing on Armando forever, and the tension between them has always simmered just under the surface. Armando feels it too… but she’s a married woman, and he’s only a soldier in the Trio. Lines they shouldn’t cross. Until they do.

And when they finally give in? **Explosive.** The chemistry between them is scorching, full of stolen moments, secret touches, and dangerous late-night encounters that could destroy everything if they’re caught. Sneaking around only makes the tension hotter… but secrets like that never stay buried. Someone discovers the truth, and while we know who it is, the fallout feels like a ticking time bomb that still leaves a loose thread hanging over the story.

Still, the ride to the end is intense, emotional, and full of that dark, forbidden heat. And thankfully, through all the chaos and danger… **there is a well-earned HEA.** ❤️‍🔥

ARC Review:

This mafia romance delivers emotional intensity, devotion, and plenty of angst, even if it doesn’t fully hit its stride.

At the heart of the story is a painful miscommunication that sets everything in motion. Because of it, the FMC, Gia, ends up trapped in an abusive arranged marriage—while the MMC, Armando, is left wrestling with feelings he simply can’t let go of.

One of the strongest aspects of the book is Armando’s unwavering devotion. The lengths he’s willing to go to in order to protect Gia are genuinely beautiful. But what makes their dynamic compelling is that the protectiveness goes both ways. Gia wants to shield Armando just as fiercely. Their relationship isn’t just about rescue; it’s about two people carrying trauma, trying to overcome the past, and learning to trust in each other’s strength.

That said, this was a solid three-star read for me. There were moments where the pacing dragged, and I found myself skimming sections that felt a bit too drawn out. At the same time, some pivotal scenes didn’t have enough background detail or emotional depth, which left me wanting more where it mattered most. The balance between slow-burn tension and meaningful development felt slightly uneven.

That Pining Nearly Took Me Out

If you’ve been waiting for Gia’s story since Book 1 like I have… Besties, buckle up because in "The Bodyguard's Angel" , the emotional damage and slow-burn tension are real.👀

Getting Gia’s POV during the lead-up to her arranged marriage was honestly gut-wrenching. Watching her trapped in a life she never chose while still secretly holding onto feelings for Armando? Pain. Pure pain. And Armando being assigned as her bodyguard? The forbidden tension was illegal levels of torment.

But let me warn you now... this romance takes its sweet time simmering. The pining is brutal and delicious, and when things finally start heating up around the 30% mark… whew. Worth the wait.😁

I loved that this book leaned more into the emotional buildup, family chaos, and interconnected drama from the other couples. It’s messy mafia politics, dangerous loyalties, and two people who absolutely should not fall for each other… but do anyway.

Also... can we talk about Giovanni (Armando's hot Dad)? Because that silver fox deserves his own book story.👀

Gia and Armando’s road to happiness was long, painful, and completely worth it. Now excuse me while I impatiently demand Sofia’s book next.😉

This is a really great Mafia romance. I have been waiting patiently for Gia and Armando's story ever since the first book of the series and I was not disappointed. Gia and Armando face enormous obstacles to their HEA. She's married to a much older, abusive man in another territory. Armando is best friend to her older brother, Alessio, who runs the western territory. Defying everyone to be together means war and possibly death to one or both of them.

Although I don't condone cheating, this couple is clearly meant to be together, and it's just tragic that Gia was forced by her father to marry a man who treated her so badly. It's the norm in this genre but I can't blame her for grasping at any happiness she could find with Armando. I loved his devotion to her even at the risk of his friendship with Alessio and I applauded her when she decided to stand up for herself. I will always fall for a powerful, strong man who adores his woman and puts her above all else, so this book is very satisfying in that aspect as well.

This book is a great addition to the series which is well written with interconnected stories and likable characters. It has surprisingly little violence and bloodshed compared to others of this genre but plenty of emotion, drama, and steam. I loved it.

I am completely obsessed with this series ❤️

Mia’s story absolutely shattered me. Being trapped in an abusive marriage, treated like she has no voice or choice… it was heartbreaking. But what made it so powerful was her quiet resilience. Even at her lowest, there’s still that small piece of hope in her and watching her slowly find her strength again felt so emotional and empowering.

And Armando… I don’t even have words 😩 He is EVERYTHING. So fiercely loyal, so protective, but never overbearing. The way he’s loved Mia from afar for so long, watching her suffer and finally deciding he can’t stand by anymore… it just hit so deep. He doesn’t just want to rescue her, he wants to give her the power to fight, to survive and to choose her own life.

Their connection is full of longing, tension, and history, and you can feel every single emotion between them. The dual POV made it even better because you truly understand how devoted Armando is. This man would burn the world down for her if he had to 🔥

It’s intense, emotional, action-packed, and filled with that forbidden love that just makes everything feel even more consuming.

I’m already not over them… and I honestly don’t think I will be anytime soon 😭

The third in Eileen North's series this is a fiercely passionate and intense tale of forbidden lovers. I've been waiting for Gia's story since the beginning and it was everything and more I'd hoped for. The chemistry and heat between her and Armando was incredibly, but even more so was the devotion they had for each other.

The romance angle took very this book a bit more than the mafia one, although there is plenty of action at the climax of the novel. I really appreciated the depths of the relationship, such as the teaching of self defense and appreciation of Gia's physical and inner strength. Also we learn more about characters such as Mathilde and Nerio. Plus hints at future books.

While as mentioned in the trigger warnings this book does tackle serious and upsetting warnings, I appreciated that they were not detailed or graphically portrayed. You don't have to have read the earlier books to enjoy this one, but I guarantee reading this after the other two books will make it that much more powerful. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I’m now on the third book in this series, and I’m still really enjoying it! Eileen North’s writing style continues to flow so easily—it’s smooth, engaging, and pulls you in right from the start.

Gia and Armando were such a great pair. Their chemistry builds naturally, even with all the challenges they face, which made their journey really satisfying to follow. There were definitely a few tense, anxious moments, but they were balanced perfectly with humour and some genuinely sweet, mushy scenes that had me grinning.

One of my favourite things about this book is how it brings back the family from the previous stories—it adds so much warmth and continuity. Armando’s dad, Gio, completely stole my heart. He was so sweet and lovable, and his relationship with Armando was just refreshing and wholesome. Honestly, I wanted to put him in my pocket!

I’m really looking forward to Nico & Matilde’s story next—and then hopefully Sofia’s . And I have to ask… will we get a story for Nerio & Melina?

Thank you for the ARC

Even though this was the first book I had read in this series, I thought it was brilliant. Now I know I don't have the backstory of some of the characters in this book, and it didn't affect this book at all. This read was heartbreaking in places and I really felt the emotions from the characters. Gia was a really great character and even though she wanted and loved Armando, she did what was best for the family. Poor Armando, he loved and lost all at once. Even though he was being a good soldier he still felt the loss for Gia and he took it to heart. I loved how he was there for her even though nothing could happen. I loved the follow of this book and the storyline was so good, the characters were well balanced and they fit well together. Armando helped Gia when she needed to learn new skills to help her protect herself. What a great story of love being the bigger thing. This book was more romance than mafia but did have a little element to it when it was needed. Great book recommend.

Gia and Armando’s story is hands down my favorite of the series so far. Forbidden with a capital F, their push-and-pull romance had me hooked from start to finish. Gia has survived an abusive marriage but is far from weak—her strength, vulnerability, and growth make her incredibly well-rounded. Armando, her brother’s loyal soldier and childhood crush, is protective, possessive, and absolutely swoon-worthy. When he finally takes action, the tension and heat are off the charts.

The dual POV really captures their emotions, from fear and longing to obsession and devotion. Seeing Armando’s fierce protectiveness and Gia’s resilience made this story feel both intense and heartwarming. I also loved glimpses of Alessio and Armando’s dynamic—it added depth and a bit of redemption to the series.

This book is action-packed, emotional, and full of forbidden romance angst. It’s a story about survival, growth, and fighting for love, and I can’t wait for Nico’s unhinged story next.

Vows Sworn in Blood is a series that follows different couples within the same time period, so it can get a bit repetitive at times when you’re reading all the books in the series, but they each have their own drama and love story which keeps it interesting. While I still think you can definitely read the books in the series in any order you want without it affecting your understanding of what’s going on, there is a chance it can potentially spoil the previous books for you since every book seems to build on the previous one while adding a little more to it, and from a new couple’s POV.

The third novel in Vows Sworn in Blood follows Armando and Gia’s story. Wow! Gia has become like a role model of sorts! And while Armando is a great man, I feel like Alessio still takes the win in the series.
Now, Eileen, while I am intrigued to read book 4 with the teaser at the end of book 3, please tell me book 4 will also bring some closure for book 3? I need to know what happens!! Thank you.

This is the third book in the series, and I absolutely loved it. All the characters are intertwined from the very beginning, and you get to know them as the story unfolds. Gia and Armando’s story is captivating; they’ve known each other since they were very young, as he is her brother’s best friend—a loyal and respectful soldier who loves her as if she were his own sister, until that changes and he begins to see her in a different light. Her innocent childhood crush, and her resignation to her future marriage to a cruel man much older than her—a man driven by ambition, with two wives who died under mysterious circumstances—is Gia’s fate, until the abuse catches Armando’s attention. The chemistry is explosive, and they’ll fight tooth and nail to have their “happily ever after.”
I’m looking forward to the remaining two stories in this series, as I hope they’ll be just as good as the ones so far.
Thank you for the opportunity to receive an ARC and share my humble opinion.

Armando and Gia both have feelings that can be nothing more than just that. Feelings, dreams, illusions. She is the daughter of a Capo, While he is a simple Soldier.
Gia lives a miserable marriage, abusive and unwanted. Armando dies a little every time he sees her hurt. When he gets the chance he shows her how to defend and avoid being attacked. During those session stolen glances and forbidden touches form, she’s always wanted him and he’s never moved on. Giving in to temptation might be the downfall of both, but in the end taking the risk is worth it all, to have that bit that they so desperately crave.

Omg! Was I holding my breath just wondering when the they could get caught and the consequence’s. In the end they both got what they deserved, it was each other that they wanted from the start but Destiny played them wrong until it did them right.

ARC review 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Book 3 of 3: Vows Sworn in blood series. By @eileen_north.mafia.romance
This one follows Gia and her point of view of what has happened in the past 2 years.
Gia is just 18 and she is forced to marry a man over twice her age to keep peace between the mafia families. Armando the family bodyguard and Gia's brothers best friend will stop at nothing to get her out of that marriage.
Gia is strong but her abusive husband is stronger. How can she leave when she is trapped?
How can Armando help her when betraying his Don means death?
Sensitive topics with this one. Please be advise.
Book 1 and 2 is strongly recommended as some topics are from a different point of view and you might be a little lost.

I have been waiting with bated breath for Armando and Gia's book. It was so worth it. In The Bachelor's Angel is part of an interconnected standalone series. You do not necessarily need to read the first two books. However, I strongly recommend you do because they are amazing These two characters have been in the first two books and the tension and angst was brutal! Gia is a total bad as$, I loved her strength and resilience. I adored Armando. In every book he always stood out to me. The love he has for Gia holds no bounds, he would do anything for her. These characters all have me in a chockhold and I can't wait to see who is up next!

Another fantastic suspense book. I loved the devastation and drive of both Gia and Armando to make this work out.

Gia is married off to a brutal older man and her bodyguard Armando takes it upon himself to help her protect herself.

Armando is this protective yet brutal when he had to be Mafia man who is there to look out for his forbidden charge. Gia is smart, and knows the world and doesn't want to put up with the treatment her husband dishes out.

These two though have dp feelings for each other and nothing will stop them.

So well done. A great story and characters I really liked. Great work!

Book 3 of the Vows Sworn in Blood series. For maximum enjoyment read the books in series order.

'But our passion threatens to ignite a new mafia civil war. Is there any hope we can both escape with our lives?'

The characters were very complex and complicated and perfectly steamy together. Plot was intriguing and intense and well paced. World building continues to impress and be solidly drawn. All in all a great addition to the series. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend!

This is Gia and Armando's story. If you read the first two books, you have read this one. The majority was a repeat with bits and pieces of Gia and Armando tossed in. The bits and pieces were interesting and then seemed repetitive also. The story was basically told in the first two books. Unfortunately, this book wasn't needed. If certain scenes were needed, they could have been extended in the prior two books. That said, if you haven't read the first two or remember them, then read this one as a review. Armando's story was interesting, but Gia never grew beyond 2 dimensional for me. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

4⭐️ Review

This is the third book in the series, and I was really looking forward to it… thankfully, it didn’t disappoint.

That said, it wasn’t my favourite of the three. I found it a little slow to get into at the start, and the friends-to-lovers dynamic between the MMC and FMC isn’t usually my preference, so that took some warming up to.

However, I absolutely loved how the story tied back into the previous two books. I was happy that the characters from the previous books were still active in this book. Those connections made the world feel richer and more rewarding.

Overall, I still really enjoyed it and I’m definitely excited to see where the next book in the series goes.

This is a dual-POV, forbidden mafia romance with spice and some dark elements which is also part of an interconnected series involving three crime families where each couple will find their HEA. If you love possessive and protective men then Armando is the guy!! Lots of drama, angst, deceit, abusive husband, and a strong FMC that learns to fight back!Get swept away with these two!! I enjoyed the story line and the characters, with their fight to be together!

An arranged marriage she didn't want but had no choice lands Gia in an abusive relationship. She has one person that is by her side Armando her brother's best friend who teaches her how to fight back among other things and as their relationship grows on the side it leads them along a path that is dangerous if it isn't contained. This action-pack story kept me glued to the pages and cheering on Gia and Armando to finding their path to happiness.

I had the pleasure of ARC reading this book, and I was obsessed. The more I read it I was like, yeah, I'm okay with the cheating trope in this book (trust me, you will be too... Gia's husband is the worst). I absolutely loved Gia and Armando and the way their romance blossomed. Our Armando was down bad! I can't wait to read book 4!

This book is part of a series, but can be read as a standalone! Overall, I'd definitely read this book again, and I would recommend this book for fans of other romance books. I have received this ARC for an honest review; all thoughts/ opinions above are my own.

Gia’s marriage is arranged to a much older man that does not treat right, he is awful to her. She wants to fight for her freedom and has always had feelings for Armando, her brother’s best friend. Armando is determined to protect Gia but he has to be careful or no one would be there to protect Gia. The chemistry increases between the pair is a great risk for both of them and a great risk to his friendship with Alessio. There is more drama and emotions than there is violence.
