They were hired to extract me. Now, they’re the only thing standing between me and a shallow grave.
I am a loose end. A liability. A walking hard drive with a photographic memory that holds the darkest secrets of the world’s most powerful defense contractor.
When I was dragged out of a black site in Venezuela, I thought I was being transferred to another hell. I was wrong. I was being handed over to them.
The Ghost Squad.
Garrick: The scarred Commander who gives the orders. He’s a stone wall of dominance who looks at me like I’m a problem he’s desperate to solve. Johnny: The Demolitions expert with a reckless grin and a body made for violence. He wants to teach me how to fight, but I think he really wants to teach me how to burn. Errol: The Medic with the hands of a surgeon and the mind of a spy. He healed my wounds, but he wants to own my secrets. Troy: The Sniper. The silent watcher who sees everything. He doesn't speak, but his eyes promise me that I’ll never be alone in the dark again. They were supposed to deliver me to my death. Instead, they took me to a cabin in the middle of a blizzard. Trapped by the snow, hunted by an army, and forced into close quarters, the lines between asset and protector are blurring.
I’m broken, bruised, and terrified. But when the freezing cold sets in and the only way to survive is to share their heat, I realize something dangerous.
I don’t want to be rescued anymore. I want to be theirs.
Tomlinson wants his data back. But he’s about to learn a hard lesson: You don’t touch what belongs to the Ghost Squad.

I've never written such a harsh review before, I always try to focus on the positive, but how in the ever-loving hell does this have such a high rating? It was like the rough draft of a story written by a student in year 9 who hasn't proofread yet, and no one else has laid eyes on it. The story is fine (fun, actually!) And I really, really enjoyed the characters, especially Johnny and Troy/Elias, but the errors, grammatical errors, plot holes, duplicate texts and duplicate scenes was GOD AWFUL.
I kid you not, there were at least 30 errors, from small like using 'a' instead of 'an' to major, gigantic errors like the following. So the first was when the 4 soldiers headed in to save the asset, 3 go inside the building, and 1 stays outside, on overwatch, which is Troy the sniper. Whilst the 3 are inside, the author says that the cell was filled with 4 dangerous men. Umm, no, there were 3, the 4th was outside on overwatch waiting to help them escape. The next one that annoyed me the most was Garrick, the leader, had sex with the FMC Tess (and way too fast imo, but that is more insta-love and insta-lust than a factual issue) in the shower.
The author then tells us that Garrick turns the shower off, helps dry off Tess, and she gets dressed and steps into the hallway. About 2 paragraphs later, suddenly the author writes that Garrick turns the water off, hands Tess a towel, and watches her get dressed whilst he steps into the hallway. I am 100% convinced that the author wrote 2 different scenes to later choose which she preferred and would delete the other one, but forgot and left both in for publication. The problem is, this happened again a couple of times, including the big fiasco at the end when Tess confronts the bad guy at the gala. It was literally written twice, the 2nd scene with more dialogue added.
This is incredibly annoying as it rips you right out of the story. Add in constant other errors, and it was a total shitshow. To the point I am so annoyed writing this. How in the world do so many errors get past the author, friends, or family reading the manuscript, beta readers, editors, and arc readers? It makes no sense how a book that is SO poorly executed and like it hasn't been read over by a single soul (including the author) gets published. And how does it have a 4.33 star rating? Were these just family and friends, because there is a very small amount of ratings?
Either way, even the fun characters and interesting storyline can not get me to rate more than 1 star. Even that is generous, if I was able to, it would be 0.5 stars. It just felt like the author was incredibly sloppy with the process.
Even though I always find errors (usually small ones or very few) in published books, I've never come across something like this. I mean, I would literally proofread books like these to give feedback and point out errors before they're published for free. I find it fun. Even small/new indie authors would likely edit for free or a small amount to get their name out there, so I dont see how an author can't get that done. Even if that is impossible, just get a family or friend to look it over, or an ARC reader online to beta read for you.
Also, it was absolutely too insta-love for me. And the 1 group spicy scene, with the 4 guys and 1 girl, was 1 guy leaning against her, one guy having sex with her, 1 guy touching her boobs and 1 guy holding her hand. They all got naked, for one guy just to hold her hand. So if you're expecting group action, you'll be disappointed, which I was when I read that Tony/Elias seemed to get no intimacy whatsoever, even a make out, and was the odd man out the whole book. I just felt really sorry for him.
