Tragedy at the reopening. When Iris Blackwood and Caroline Thornton-Blake restore Blackwood Manor to it's former glory and turn it into a B & B. At the grand reopening there is to be an unveiling of the redone chandelier, but when Caroline climbs the scaffolding in collapses and she is killed in the fall to the floor. When it is revealed that she had been drugged and some bolts interfered with on the scaffold it becomes a murder investigation. Iris uses her accountancy background to help analyse all the information to help find the killer. The book ends with a very surprising conclusion. Overall a fine story with some very engaging characters. I received a free copy of this book via Bookfunnel and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Iris Blackwood is set to launch her grand reopening of the Blackwood Manor. The estate she inherited from her unknown Aunt, was to open as a bed and breakfast as it was many years ago. This story has a murder at the opening ceremony along with the long history of secrets and vendettas that make a great story. It was a suspenseful page turner that kept me reading. The characters are wonderfully molded to deepen the story and intrigue.

4.25 stars - Another enjoyable story from June Hollis that has some unexpected turns. Iris and Pixel are back! Blackwood Manor has been renovated and will be opening as a B&B. At the event to show the town how the manor has been refurbished, Caroline, Iris’s friend and renovator, falls off a scaffold and dies. Her mother says it’s not an accident and that someone was out to “get” her. Iris and Pixel are on the case. This was a quick and satisfying read.
