Omg I loved this book it’s 2 book series called Behind the Rope they don’t have to read in the series you can read them as standalone.
Step into the world of GWC where professional wrestling romance meets steamy, slow-burn passion, and every moment outside the ring is just as intense as the fight for the championship.
This sports romance series follows a cast of unforgettable wrestlers, managers, and creative minds as they navigate life on tour, fierce rivalries, and the undeniable pull of attraction that could change everything.
Perfect for readers of athlete romance, forced proximity romance, and series with crossover characters, each instalment will have you falling for a brand-new couple while keeping you hooked on the chaos, passion, and drama behind the scenes.
I received this book as an ARC in exchange for a honest review.
This delivers exactly what it promises—intense chemistry, high-stakes tension, and a romance that feels as risky as it does addictive.
Aurora and Aiden’s dynamic is the heart of the story, and it absolutely crackles. The coach × trainee trope combined with the age gap and forbidden element creates a constant push-and-pull that keeps the pages turning. Aiden’s controlled, reputation-driven mindset contrasts beautifully with Aurora’s hunger to prove herself, and their internal conflicts feel just as compelling as their external ones.
The Birmingham moment acts as a strong catalyst, and from there, the tension never really lets up. Their connection feels messy in a good way—charged, complicated, and layered with real consequences. You can feel how much is at stake, especially for Aurora, which adds emotional weight beyond just the romance.
That said, there are moments where the pacing feels slightly uneven, particularly when it comes to fully exploring the professional side of the story. The wrestling world is intriguing, but I found myself wanting a bit more depth there to match the intensity of the relationship.
Still, the chemistry is undeniable, and the angst is top-tier. If you enjoy forbidden romance with a strong emotional undercurrent and characters who can’t quite stay away from each other—even when they should—this one will definitely hit the mark.
Heart on a Canvas has owned me since Falling for a Champion (iykyk) and Abbey definitely said “you deserve to be rewarded for waiting!”
The tension? Elevated (this is definitely pun intended 😏) The stakes? Higher The emotional damage? PERSONAL
Aiden and Aurora’s dynamic is everything I love about forbidden romance: messy, intense, and oh so impossible to ignore. It’s not just “we shouldn’t” - it’s we really, really shouldn’t… but as anyone who met these two in FFAC knows, the pull between our feisty femme fatale and loveable alpha is a full-on main event; no way this match was ever ending without a pinfall - and definitely one Mason couldn’t argue about!
If you love: ✨ “we shouldn’t” but we absolutely will ✨ forbidden romance ✨ age gap ✨ a sunshine girly who knows her self & worth ✨ and a grumpy alpha who will do whatever is needed to support “his girl”
Then Heart on a Canvas isn’t just a want, it’s a need to read!!
This is the second wrestling novel by this author I have read, it caught me hooklike and sinker! I absolutely ate this novel up.
The characters and the storyline that this author created is amszing!
In thia novel we follow Aurora and Aidens story. We see their forbidden romance bloom. It's messy, it's intense, it's forbidden, but most importantly it's a whirlwind romance we didn't know we needed!
Aiden is Aurora's coach, but in this unforgettable story we see Aiden become more than just the coach and trainee.
The chemistry between thssr characters this author has created is amazingly done, you can feel the tension, the lust, the desire.
This isn't the first novel by this author I have read and I can hands down say it will not be the last.
I can't wait for the next installment this author is bringing us!
If you are a wrestling fan, I would highly recommend this author and her books!

Heart on a Canvas by Abbey Wales is a beautiful and emotional read that stayed with me long after I finished it. The characters feel real and relatable, and the story perfectly balances romance with themes of healing and self-discovery. The writing is heartfelt and engaging, making it hard to put down. If you enjoy character-driven romance with genuine emotion, Heart on a Canvas is definitely worth reading. Highly recommended!❤️
