Thoroughly enjoyed this book. I don't know whether to call it a thriller or a story about family and its dynamics. CC Cilento is looking to be part of a larger family and has an idealistic view based on her summer holidays with her cousins, of what it should look like. However the reality is very different, especially when there is an inheritance involved.

The book touches on many contemporary issues, such as fear of having personal data stolen, not trusting institutions such as the police and wild foraging of mushrooms. The one issue that I feel very strongly about and thought was well handled in the book was women's mental health.

The family tree at the front of the book was extremely helpful, particularly when trying to understand some of the dynamics of the Friend family.

Thank you to HQ insiders for this book.
