For FBI Agents Daryl Jackson and Jessica Stonewall, the zombie apocalypse came without warning, right in the middle of a stakeout.
Things spiral violently out of control when a mob of infected attack. When their target runs, the agents find themselves in a dangerous high-speed car chase through the streets of Washington, D.C. with disastrous results.
Dead Escape will take you on a thrilling ride through the Nation’s Capital at the dawn of the Necrose-7A viral outbreak.
Dead Escape is a 2,000+ word short story set in the world of the Necrose Series and ends with a cliffhanger. Dead Apocalypse is book one in the main series and features the main characters.
TIM MOON is a writer and avid hiker from Washington State, where he also attended Washington State University. Tim is a lifelong fan of science fiction and fantasy and primarily writes in those genres. He loves to travel, go backpacking, play with his dog, and watch movies. Tim moved to South Korea to teach English and wrote Dead Islands (re-titled Dead Apocalypse), book one of the Necrose Series. Tim currently lives in China with his beautiful wife.
I was impressed with the author's use of commas, the fact that an airplane fell out of the sky, and the nerdy factoid that the two FBI agents' last names together equal the Civil War general Stonewall Jackson. Otherwise, I had no earthly idea what was going on in this short story. As a preview to entice me to want to read further in the series, I was not hooked, as I did not feel any connection to the characters. Perhaps this story was intended to be read after reading the Necrose series.
This is a very short, short story introducing two new characters to this series. In Washington, D.C., Agent Daryl Jackson and partner, Agent Jessica Stonewall, are watching security camera monitors of a suspected traitor, Steve Edwardson. He's an employee of Black Tide, a military contract company. He works in the Bio-Tech Division doing secret research. It's believed he's leaked secret information to an on-line whistle blower site, Eyes of Truth, perhaps run by Russian handlers. Agent Jackson, on his first major assignment, is planning to take down Edwardson and the Russian handlers at a pre-planned meeting. But there is a shocking intervention: Zombies are headed toward the meeting place ... a crowded coffee shop. This tale is short, but shocking, and very well written. Come on, we want the rest of the story, Tim Moon. Keep writing and I'll keep reading! Love your enthusiastic stories.
I think it's a must to read the other Necrose books first so you know what is going on, as this is such a short story. A quick glimpse as the FBI try to catch a man selling secrets as the Apocalypse begins. I liked what was there but it was far too short so lacked detail. It would have been better as the beginning of a full book.
Like five minute story. I liked what I read, but can't get past the five minute story. Hopefully, this will become a book that is not cut up into five hundred stories and leaves you blowing in the breeze.
10/10/2015, Washington, D.C. Agent Daryl Jackson (Counterespionage Division) & Agent Jessica Stonewall (partner) were watching the 8 bank security camera monitors. Steve Edwardson worked for Black Tide military contracting co., in the Bio-Tech Division doing secret research. Sources claim he had leaked top secrets to the Russians.
The 2 of them were screaming through the streets of DC in hot pursuit of a source they had been watching.
I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review, only an honest one. All thoughts & opinions are entirely my own.
A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written thriller (short story) book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great thriller movie, or better yet a mini TV series. To be continued. A very easy rating of 5 stars.

Dead escape is a thirteen pages long setup for a story. It was a rather disappointing read to me personally. First, the opening isn't inviting, and I felt the text didn't read fluently. The author described a lot without actually saying anything, nor did it add to the story or pull you into whatever is going to happen. The amount of repeated use of the names is a bit much and annoyed me rather fast.
The author did a good job of writing the action scene. Although I'm not a fan of their style and the story seems to lack a lot, it shows some potential.
So in the end, I wouldn't pick up another story of this author. However, I see potential and maybe I picked up this story too early in the author's road to publishing.
WOW! This is a very short story but it packed a big hook for me. I think it would probably be even better if I had already read a novel in the series. Instead, it left me with questions that I must have the answers to. Therefore my next planned read is the first book in Tim Moon's Necrose series.
Good story but WAY too short. I wish the author had added more. I actually liked that it was an action, spy, zombie story. This was more of a trailer type than a stand alone. Will probably try more of this series
This was a little too short for me to form an opinion about it. All I read was some agents waiting to bust someone, then something occurring in the street which set off a car chase which ended as abruptly as the story.
It's really just a quick action packed story that takes off super quick, but has almost zero character development. It's almost like you're just watching one scene of an action film and you don't know the context of the rest of the movie.
