I've always loved books, especially about monsters and magic, so I started writing. I'm working on a prequel and the next few books in the Others of Edenton series, and I have a head full of stories to share.
I'm a stay at home mother with a wonderful husband who lets me write and write to my hearts content.
I read the book as part of the From The Ashes Anthology This is Tomahawk and Darla’s story and falls after Breaking Free, Book 4. After being possessed by the Shadow Fae in Shadows from the Past, Darla ran away from home. No one seemed to know where she went and Tom was definitely not himself after she was gone. This short novelette brings them back together. For a quick read it made me chuckle and I’ll admit to getting a little misty as well. This was a fun, loving short and a definite must read in the series.

For a novella/short this was straight to the point. Through the series we have had contact with both Tom and Darla, until Darla was overtaken by darkness. It was always left hanging out there, where did she go? Will she be coming back? How will Tom survive?
This book does a great job of answering all those unknowns but doing it in a way that reminds you of how powerful love is.
WARNING - ENTIRE PLOT SUMMARY AHEAD (used for me to keep track of series events) REALLY - DON'T READ THIS; IT SUMMARIZES BOOK.
Past: Tom proposed to Darla. Next day Izackarus possessed her. D runs away, tells T not to follow. He waits too long, then can't find her.
D finds out she's pregnant. She's scared that a shred of the monster is in the baby.
Darla’s mother intervenes and brings the two together at a masquerade ball.
Mention that twin Dakota already has a little boy. Adam's little girl, Fallon pregnant with twins. Lots of babies coming in Edenton.
Goes into fast labor at ball. Tom's mom was midwife; he watched lots. Tom delivers baby. Name her Annalise Raven after her gma.
D's mom Dawn Skies is some kind of psychic with power. After birth, she magically cleans and changes clothes of T and D. Dawn sends them on private jet back to Edenton. Dakota and Jolene welcome her back, tell her she wrecked Tom. But they understand and would never have turned their backs on her.

This was just a quick addition and honestly I’m not entirely sure where this fits into the series or whether we will be reading more from these characters although I would love to know where this couple end up in the long term.
The main characters are Darla and Tomahawk a couple who got together in the beginning of this series of books however due to strange circumstances Darla leaves. It leaves Tomahawk moody and a mess and Darla soon realises she is pregnant and misses Tomahawk desperately. That is when Darla’s mother intervenes and brings the two together at a masquerade ball. I would love to read more about these two and their kid so please bring out their book soon.
As always in this series there are many secondary characters however I am not going to review them because they will either have already been reviewed from a previous book or might be reviewed later on in a book of their own.
The storyline and pacing are great, especially for such a short book. I found that this book was excellently done having a beginning middle and end which I think is impressive for a short story. I also thought the storyline was very refreshing and easy to read, I found this book to be a great pit stop in the series.
I received a copy of this book for an honest review.
This is a novellette letting us see what happened to Darla when she vanished after Izackarus’ possessed her. The love Tomahawk and Darla have for one another shines through.
This was a sweet love story and loved the small intervening that was done to help these two get back together. Tomahawk was amazing even after finding out why Darla was hiding. I loved being able to see what happened to Darla and Tomahawk. They are perfect together and work well together.
I loved that this was short, sweet and drama free. I found myself chuckling and even a little misty eyed while reading this. If you have read the other books in this series you will want to pick this one up.
This is a paranormal romance novella told in the third person narration. I have read every book by Brandy L. Rivers that I can get my hands on and devour. This is a short story to give you more on Tomahawk, Darla, and her meddling mother who knew exactly what she was doing and that she was right. I really liked this because it let me know what was happening with Tomahawk and Darla and I loved her little surprise she had for him. It made me smile when they were all together. I recommend this series to anyone who loves paranormal romance.
Labor of Love is a novelette written by Brandy L Rivers and is part of the Others of Edenton series. If you have read the series, then you know that Darla was possessed by the Shadow Fae; and unable to cope with what happened to her, Darla runs away. This is the story of Darla and Tomahawk, and what happens while she is away. This is a short and enjoyable read. It was nice to catch up with Darla and Tomahawk. Brandy does a great job in tying up Darla’s storyline and giving the reader a HEA.
Who doesn't love a ball, especially one where a black panther can just stride in...
Amazing short bringing Darla and Tomahawk back together. And now a bit about the story...
After Izackarus had possessed her she needed some space. But then she found out she was pregnant... Scared of what could be part of the baby she remained away. But her mom has a trick up her sleeve!
Favorite passage: “I won’t guarantee it will be perfect, but I promise to do my best.”
This is a very short novella fleshing out some background characters from Shadows of the Past. It was okay but I felt like it didn't add anything to the series. Darla hardly appears in any of the other books and Tomahawk hasn't made an appearance in a while. Also, there was very little romance, just a quick baby birth. Neither character has showed up in any books since, so I'm not sure what the point of this book was.
** I received this book in exchange for an honest review. Lovers of Paranormal, LoP**
'Labor of Love' is a great novelette from the 'Others of Edenton' series. I enjoyed Darla and Tom's story. I'm so glad they got their own story told. This whole series is absolutely awesome. A must add to your tbr list.
Loved it. Finally found out the end to Tomahawk's story. I thought being a novella it would be too short. However, I was absorbed in the story from the beginning.
This is a great short that answers what happened to Darla and why she ran from Tomahawk. After some wonderful uninvited intervention from her mother, they reunite just in time for their little miracle! A great installment to The Others of Edenton Series!
What can i say, i totally live this series! Can't get enough of it. I'm so glad Tomahawk and Darla found their happily ever after. Definitely a must read.
Wow, that was pretty darn boring. Too bad, cause I like Tom's character. He was still awesome, but Darla was dumb as a brick and in 34 pages the author has managed to make very little sense.
