The storyline is fairly good and a cast of dynamic, interesting characters. However, I often set the book aside for days to regain enough patience to work through laborious and unnatural dialogue. For example, when a character was asked about a firearm they had, the response entailed a lengthy, historical explanation that far exceeded what would be a normal response for the character under the facts and circumstances of the moment. Obviously the author is exceptionally intelligent and accustomed to detail, but the book would be better received by the masses if he were to edit it down a bit to enhance readability (i.e., having characters that talk more like normal people and not historians). Again, I commend the author for the characters and storyline he developed because they were strong enough to keep me going.
