Her bodyguard was supposed to save her life — not undress her with a single look.
Margot Blackwell built her empire on control.
Control of her company. Control of her reputation. Control of her heart.
As the formidable CEO of Blackwell Strategic Logistics, she is Phoenix Ridge’s crisis stabilizer — powerful, precise, and utterly untouchable.
Until a credible threat forces her board to assign executive protection.
Ash Donovan is disciplined, calm, and unshakably competent. A former military specialist turned elite close protection agent, she has never failed a client — and she never crosses professional boundaries.
Margot challenges every rule she lives by.
Forced into close quarters inside a glass-and-steel penthouse overlooking the harbour, tension simmers between the ice queen billionaire and the bodyguard who refuses to be intimidated. Every look lingers too long. Every touch feels deliberate. Every boundary begins to blur.
Margot hates needing protection. Ash refuses to become a weakness.
But when danger closes in, they must decide what’s riskier — losing control… or surrendering to it.
The Billionaire’s Bodyguard is a high-heat, high-stakes sapphic romance featuring an age gap, forced proximity, power imbalance tension, and a guaranteed happily ever after.

Another good book by Emily Hayes and a must read. This book has some intrigue, emotions, love, action and lots of Spice. The spice seemed a bit much at times like it was just used as a filler. But regardless this is a good book. I started reading and seriously read it straight through.
The 3rd act breakup felt forced, it was like the writer forgot that they had already said I love you a bunch of times. The spicy scenes were almost identical to the first book in this series. Wasn’t a fan of the pacing, there could have been more lingering looks to make the first kiss more convincing. It’s disappointing because I really enjoyed the first book.
That this story ended. Power imbalances and life and death situations automatically ratchet up the tension in the story. Emily manages it well and describes the internal torment of truly caring for someone while letting them be the person loved and vulnerable and possibly in a life-threatening situation. Ash's dilemma is completely believable and goes on in Corporate America every day. Their solution is inevitable, but feels like it works out. Good job!
I have been reading all of your novels and love, love them. Your characters are well rounded and believable. I especially like the medical series from Phoenix Ridge. But, that being said, I will continue to read everything you write. Good job and am anxiously waiting for new ones.
A Bodyguard Romance of Phoenix Ridge Book 2 That Deserves An Ovation!
Book 2 in the Phoenix Billionaires Series was absolutely awesome. Margot Blackwell is the typical Ice Queen. CEO of Blackwell Strategic Logistics, she started this company and after past issues with others, thriving on making sure her company is safe. An incident in her own protected home has her rattled. Once back at work, she is told by the board they have authorized a bodyguard after receiving some threats. First. She has to reveal what happened in her private residence and then she vows she can take care of herself which the board shot down. Ash Donovan, military background, private protection over ten years, overly confident she can handle Margot Blackwell. The connection and chemistry between these two women was off the charts. The Ice Queen facade that has been put in place to protect Margot is the very essence of what Ash can see and understand. Layers of both women starts to get revealed as a narcissist ex partner is out to make Margot pay for taking everything away from her. The potential love story is riding along the focus of the threats getting serious where true diligence is needed to keep them alive. Loved It. On to Book 3…..
I was disappointed by this book. It could use a good edit, and I almost skimmed through the second half.
The sex scenes seem a bit repetitive. The same words or the same actions
Chapter 5: Ash thinks about improvements to the surveillance system. It’s Friday, and the work will be done over the weekend. Chapter 6: Saturday, then Sunday, but no work gets done. In fact, a whole week seems to have disappeared.
The description of Margot’s house matches that of a single-story home, and many scenes confirm this. But in Chapter 14: “By the time Ash came downstairs,” and a few paragraphs later, “Upstairs,” Margot murmured. Also in Chapter 20: “Margot came downstairs at seven-thirty.”
Fear, dread and anger are fuels that can be tamed!
Emily Hayes is a writer of incredible depth. This story is one of those that gets under your skin and just holds you right to the end. The suspense is equaled with the heat of passion that grew from anger at the need for security. The balance is intriguing. The vigilance for safety of your love’s life and the failure possible, grips the reader like a vice. This was beautiful writing on so many levels.
I love a good lesbian billionaire story and when you add a good lesbian bodyguard story to it like this one, that equals a plethora of sex scenes. The chemistry between Ash and Margot just didn't seem to be there for me but that didn't stop me from reading the whole book. The whole concept of lesbian women running a city is what keeps me coming back to Phoenix Ridge books.
The ceo and the bodyguard against the world feeling they tried to keep at bay and ignore but who can they started something neither wanted to stop but being the bodyguard breaking rules feeling she couldn’t live he’d and protect her was she right !!! Another great read from Emily Hayes already looking forward to the next. 🌹🌈
54% and stopped reading. There's nothing wrong with the writing per se, I just found the protagonists boring, with very little personality, and not much to like about them. It's not for me, then. I hope other people enjoy it more
What a cute love story. I loved the characters and the storyline. Support the author’s books and make sure you leave your reviews. Thank you for using Kindle Unlimited.
I love everything by this author. It's laugh out loud funny, heartfelt, and relatable. The characters are amazing. Can't wait to read all of her books.
I really enjoyed the first book of this series however this book was a little repetitive. The characters were okay but there was no real chemistry at the start or any angst before getting together.
