Ma femme,
If my love for you was strictly of a physical nature, then this would be easy. But it’s more than a passionate touch or a sensual kiss – our love is immeasurable.
xx Zach

The Love Letters is a collection of notes shared between two lovers separated by war. In a series of romantic correspondence, Natalie LeGrange and Zacharie Parker intimately document their whirlwind romance. Full of humor and heartache, but absolutely, no regrets.

Below are my “5 Greats” about this charming and sexy novella featuring Natalie and Zach that is sure to delight fans of The Album (released Nov-11-14):

Their first strangers on a train encounter – it totally made my jaw drop open in astonished delight. It read just as bold and sexy as I remembered from my first read of it in The Album. I loved the vicarious thrill it gave me, making me immediately curious to see if this instant attraction between Natalie and Zach had a future or would fizzle out.

Zach’s devotion to his mom and his idealistic decision to go off to war in his mom’s honor. His later realization about his actions and the war effort marked his growth in a wonderful way.

Gumby, the goat! I loved hearing about this damn goat, ha!

The nostalgic pop culture references to films and music that were the soundtrack of my life as well. They made me smile in fond remembrance.

And of course, I adored Natalie and Zach's emails and the old school love letters that expressed their mundane activities, their longing for the other, their frustrations and their fantasies for a future together. I especially enjoyed their ode-to-body-parts.

One of my many favorite Zach letters was dated August 10, 2003 and began like this;

‘Ma femme,

I have a bad case of the I-miss-your-ass-it is. The only thing that can cure me is a little alone time with your naughty photos. Lucky for me, my bunk mates think I have a stomach virus and were ordered to avoid me for the next twenty-four hours.

I’m not ashamed to tell you that I intend on beating the bishop for at least eighteen of those quarantined hours. Is that crude, Nat? Nah, you love it.’

It’s one of my favorites because he is both raunchy and yet sweet. It was wonderful to get a fuller picture of Natalie and Zach’s tragic but beautiful, funny and sexy love story. ‘Non, je ne regrette rien’ as Edith Piaf sang in the famous French song. Natalie and Zach had no regrets.

Thank you author, Ashley Pullo for expanding on their correspondence from The Album and sharing it just in time for Valentine’s Day.

One True, Epic Love Story

Ashley Pullo amazes me with her unique and engaging style of writing. She’s able to package smart dialogue, witty humor and heartfelt emotion while telling an authentic, believable love story of such epic proportions that I want to be transported to her world and live it right along with her characters. She manages to create that same feeling for me in The Love Letters, her latest novella.

The Love Letters is Zach and Natalie’s love story, told from both POVs in its entirety from when they first meet and continues through their separation through a series of love letters. Once again, Ashley Pullo manipulates my emotions where I’m laughing one minute at Natalie’s bold sarcasm and crying at Zach’s poetic words of love. I loved revisiting their whirlwind romance, which is passionate, poignant and soul encompassing. I felt like I was inside their bubble – living their relationship as they expressed their honest feelings of love, passion, regret and sorrow.

Readers of The Album and The Ballad will enjoy reliving Natalie and Zach’s love again told through a series of never-before-seen love letters. New readers will take pleasure in a beautiful love story full of intense emotion and fun and hilarious exchanges. Folks, this story is real, it's raw and it's honest.

Ashley Pullo writes stories that are to be savored and enjoyed, like a vintage fine wine. Her bold and one-of-a-kind writing style is a true joy to experience. I could read about her characters forever. This is an authentic romance of historical proportions, and this is the most enjoyable series I've ever read. I laughed. I cried. But most of all I loved. Je ne regrette rien.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

"When something works without an obvious reason, it's real and it's beautiful. And you, my love, are my something." No new material here, just all of the witty, amazing goodness that is Natalie & Zach. All of their key scenes and love letters from The Album are here. It really just allowed me to fall in love with my favorite couple all over again.

*I received an arc from the author in exchange for an honest review.*

If you have read The Album and The Ballad by Ashley Pullo, then you are familiar with the love story of Natalie LeGrange and Zacharie Parker. Although The Love Letters can absolutely be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading those books as well.

The Love Letters begins with a chance meeting on a train. Nat and Zach's relationship is fast and funny and full of fire. They are only together a very short time before a previous commitment forces them apart. And although they've only known each other for a few months, their love is intense and powerful and very real. And through a series of letters and emails, we are able to witness that love during the time that they are apart.

I've always been a fan of the written word... as a child, I wrote letters to an aunt who lived several states away. I wrote letters back and forth with a friend whose father was in the military, forcing them to move every few years. And I have every love letter and post it note that my college boyfriend (now husband) wrote me when I was away at school. I'm a sucker for stuff like that.

Love letters give us a peek into something private; into the thoughts and dreams that we may write down for our friends or lovers, but that we may not necessarily share with anyone else. The love letters of Natalie and Zach allow us to see just how real their love story is. It is hilarious and sexy and heartbreaking. And, if possible, their letters and emails made me love these characters even more.

Once again Ashley Pullo proves to me why she's one of my favorite go to Indie authors! Ashley's writing is romantic, intelligent, funny, heartbreaking and most of all real. There are not many authors that I can say this about. She makes me think, she makes me laugh, she makes me cry, and she makes me sigh...every.single.time!

The Love Letters is a standalone novella adding some extra depth to the relationship between my favorite couple, Natalie and Zach. Although we are introduced to Nat and Zach in The Album, you do not need to read this before reading The Love Letters. I'd even say that it might even be better to start with this novella first, because it gives you a little more insight into their love affair.

In a nutshell, Zach is sent to Afghanistan shortly after meeting Nat on a train to New York City. They continue their long distance relationship through email and hand written letters during his time overseas. The letters are funny, sexy, romantic and sometimes sad. Nat is desperate for Zach to return home to her.

I will warn you though that there isn't really an ending to The Love Letters. Although not a cliffhanger, you will definitely want to pick up The Album...mostly because you will fall in love with Nat and Zach and want more!

I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC of The Love Letters. It was fun to revisit the way that Zach and Nat met, and how their relationship began. The instant connection between them on different levels drew me in in The Album, and invoked those feelings again in The Love Letters. Natalie's wit and humor, and Zach's devotion and compassion, combined with both of their dirty mouths, make them characters that the reader will certainly fall in love with. Like Cleo & Mark, Abe and Mary, Romeo and Juliet, Zelda and Fitz, Nat and Zach are an epic couple. Their interactions were sweet, amusing, blush-inducing, hilarious, heart-wrenching, and everything in between. Lovers of The Album and The Ballad will enjoy this extension of our beloved characters, but readers who read this first will have an adequate background to appreciate Zach and Natalie. Je t'adore this and Ashley Pullo's writing!

LOVE LETTTERS FROM WAR = ALL THE FEELS!!

I was beyond thrilled when Ashley shared her plans to release this collection of love letters. From the witty banter to the heartfelt words, I clung to every exchange between these two lovers separated by an ocean and war. If the idea of reading the romantic and candid letters exchanged between two lovers appeals to you, then grab this book.

While I fell in love with Zach & Natalie in The Album, this novella can be read as a standalone.

I fell in love with Zach and Natalie in The Album, but one of the things I love about Ashley Pullo's books, The Album, The Ballad, and now Love Letters, is that you could read them in any order and still fall in love with the characters and learn new things about them. Love Letters compiles Zach and Nat's story from The Album into one uninterrupted version, but adds new material consisting of letters sent while Zach is in Afghanistan. Love letters are a lost art form with text and e-mail now, so I felt swept up in the epic, old timey feel of Zach and Natalie's love. Their letters are everything that they are - hilarious, sarcastic, sweet, loving, and sexy. It is a hard thing to convey personality in letters alone, but Ashley manages to do it beautifully. If you are new to Ashley's books, this is a great place to start. Dip your feet in and learn about a pair of dreamers separated by war. And though you'll get a complete story, I think it will have most readers wanting to read more (both more of Zach and Nat and the other briefly mentioned characters and more of Ashley's words)! If you have read them all, this is a great addition to a story that never wants to end because its characters became larger than life.

I had finished Me Before You, so I thought I would ride the wave of devastation and finally get around to reading this since I had hopefully cried myself out earlier.

Big mistake. Huge.

As much as I love Chloe and Adam from The Ballad series, there was always something about Zach and Natalie and their relationship that I loved, so much so that I still harbour a bit of an irrational grudge on the interloper.

Getting to see more of them (even knowing the tragic ending that was inevitably coming) was wonderful, but man, it broke my heart. Nat and Zach had such a different relationship to any that you usually see in a book and I enjoyed the added glimpses of them. The letters and emails were funny, sad, sexy and them and they broke my heart. Again.

And despite it all, je ne regrette rien.

I was given an ARC by the author and this is my honest review.
I'm not familiar with Ashley Pullo's work, but when I read her other books are titled "The Album", "The Refrain" I knew I had to put her books on my TBR. This book is a novella but can be read as a standalone.
I loved Natalie and Zach's story. Ashley's writing style is genuine, engaging, funny and definitely sexy.
However, while reading it, I found myself wanting to know MORE about the characters, and I think I may have understood them better if I had read the other books.
I did enjoy reading it, and being transported to almost thirteen years ago.
Be prepared to laugh, swoon... and some more.

Ok.  I don't know how to rate this book.  Let me start from the beginning.  I've had Ashley Pullo's on my TBR list for months...MONTHS.  The Album  and The Ballad have been sitting on my Kindle mocking me, so I moved them into a new collection I created that is my TBR asap collection.  So, when Ms. Pullo contacted me about The Love Letters, I wanted to make sure that I wouldn't be spoiled in any way for the other two books.  She assured me that I would not and that the Love Letters are a "primer" for the other books.  So I said- bring it on.

First.  Natalie is a hot mess.

Second.  She and Zach have absolutely incredible chemistry, while some may call it insta-love ( really more like insta-lust)  They bond physically pretty quickly and I was cool with that, like I said, their connection and chemistry was well written.  The first part of the book is a narrative of their time together before they are separated.  (Their email and letter correspondence follows and ends the novella)  I have to admit that I enjoyed the letters and emails the most-they were funny, sweet and passionate.

Ms. Pullo writes the kind of book I enjoy, intelligent, a little snarky and passionate.  After reading The Love Letters, I'm looking forward to reading The Album and The Ballad even more because I really felt like Natalie has some more growing up to do and frankly, I want to know WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!!!   If you enjoy Daisy Prescott or Penny Reid, you'll enjoy Ms. Pullo.

I had no idea going in that The Love Letters were between two characters from The Album, also by the same author.
This novella consumed me!
It started with Natalie & Zach meeting by chance on a train. The spark between these two was instant and they have such a realistic connection. I just say I adore both of these characters! These two speak my language; sarcasm, sexual quips and humor and I loved every minute of it. Zach is a top notch book boyfriend and Natalie is someone I need to be friends with. I love their honesty and their banter is perfection.
Zach being a Marine and having to go away to war starts the letter writing and then my fascination really began. I felt like I was snooping in on their lives and secret thoughts. I could not gobble it up quick enough. Before I knew it, the end was near...I didn't want it to end!!!

I wanted more. Please say there is more!!!

“Je ne regrette rien”
I regret nothing because I found everything.

In the meantime, I need to one-click The Album STAT and learn more about feisty Natalie, flaming hot Zach and the rest of the gang!

Holy book hangover. Is there going to be more??

The Love Letters was a charming book. With each letter, I was pulled in deeper and deeper into the friendship and love shared by Zach and Natalie. I laughed out loud several times at their banter and my heart ached feeling the pain of their separation. Their story was romantic and sweet. It was also hilarious and naughty. It’s a highly compelling story.

The book felt authentic. I feel like I was reading someone’s real and private letters. I connected with the characters and their moment in time through details and the emotions expressed through the author’s words. There is something enticing about two people keeping one another’s attention and attraction with their intelligence and wit. I loved every moment – I could have read their letters for days.

My only complaint – I’m so freaking in love with Zach and Natalie – I need and want more because I’m left feeling hollow with The Love Letter’s ending. Please can we get more?!

If you’re looking for a romantic novella that will make your heart swoon, The Love Letters is the perfect read. This novella can be read as a standalone and you should definitely check it out.

If you haven’t read The Album and The Ballad, this is an excellent introduction to two of the main characters, Zach and Natalie. If you have read the two novels, don’t fret! While part of The Love Letters includes content found in The Album, you’ll want to read the love letters between the star-crossed lovers. Zach and Natalie’s story is one of laughter and tears and this installment of their story is no exception.

As a military spouse whose husband has been to the sandbox, there are so many things about Zach and Nat’s correspondence that hit so close to home. Like Pullo’s other works, this novella is chock full of hilarious innuendo as well as a raw passion that can only be captured in the honesty that is the written word. Phone calls and email are great, however it is the handwritten letter that will stand the test of time and serve as a testament that those moments existed. Their correspondence leaves behind a legacy that is tangible.

Je ne regrette rien.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I have never read anything from Ashley Pullo before. However, what I've read from her just now, I really like. There's something about the way she structures the characters that make them sound so real and so easy to fall in love with. The mess that they are, the conflicts they have, the decisions they make, everything about them was written beautifully.

I will really resolve to read her other books as well as watch out for future works from her. The author is very talented, and reading her books will always be such a great time. This story is sweet, steamy, and passionate in a very different level than many other books. One cannot help but love reading it. I definitely recommend Ashley Pullo any day to readers who want romance novels with class and depth.

A beautiful look at my favorite couple, Zacherie and Natalie. These two are from Pullo' s series including The Album and The Ballad. The first is their love story, the meeting on the train to the war in Afghanistan. The second part has the loving, sometimes hysterical, love letters between the two. This story is a great reminder how a relationship can grow with great communication. Love my Zach Attack! A copy was given for my honest review.

When was the last time you wrote a letter? Like a pen and paper letter? I can't remember the last time I did. It's like Latin, I think. A dying art, you know?

It was interesting to watch a love story unfold through a series of letters. Not just a love story, but a relationship as well. Natalie and Zacherie's relationship began normal enough. They met on a train. *smiles* Seriously, that's the stuff romance movies are made of! And it seemed like they were meant to meet. The similarities in their personalities and needs were uncanny, and how well they meshed was a little eerie. I've heard the term "soul mates" but have never seen it like this before. The first half of this book showcases their physical relationship, as in they're actually together. There are a smattering of letter exchanges when Zacherie went off to war, but nothing like the second half.

I enjoyed the story as a whole, but I am blown away by the perspective of it. The idea of sending love letters when email wasn't an option is refreshing, to say the least. And the way their relationship developed was so...refreshing. They wrote about how much they missed one another, how much they needed one another, but they also wrote about their days. Life didn't stop because Zacherie was gone, and one indiscretion on Natalie's part proved how hard their separation was for her. The forgiveness that Zacherie gave her though spoke volumes. Mind you, not everyone is as forgiving but they were each other's world. To be able to forgive and move on showed how much they wanted this to work despite the distance.

Thank you, Ms. Pullo, for giving me the chance to review this for you. It's heartwarming, nostalgic, refreshing and humorous. I hope you write more like this one because it's a terrific break from the style of romances I normally read. Your unique take on a long-distance relationship and a dying form of communication reminded of when I was a kid, when I'd send letters to friends and eagerly await the mailman's arrival because he brought with him the hope of a return letter. I can only imagine how much more that anticipation is for two people who are in love and dream of a future together.

**Warning: there may be spoilers**

This was such a cute, romantic book! I loved both, Zach and Natalie. Zach makes you swoon with his poetic French and passionate writing. Natalie's character is so real/honest and struggles with common long-distance relationship issues which are understanding due to the circumstances.
I loved seeing how their relationship unfolds through letters and emails that they write back and forth. This is a form of communication that, unfortunately, is slowly dying and we take for granted. This book/story reminds us the power of writing.
I also liked that it was a dual pov, so we were able to experience both, Natalie's everyday struggles and Zach's military life. I also liked the mentions of songs, tv shows, movies, that were important to the characters or significant during this time. I caught myself youtubing videos or searching for images and info., which was a nice because I felt more invested in the book and 'closer' to the characters.
There were 2 things I didnt like: the insta-love (which was wayyy too sudden/unbelievable, in my opinion) and the ending...I was craving more. I was hoping/expecting the book would end with a HEA. For example, does Zach come back? Do they go on vacation? does he say "yes" to her last question? I would've appreciated some sort of epilogue letting me know what has happened months/years later. I'm hoping her other book (The Album) has more to their story.
In general, this book was cute, funny, romantic, sexy and I was able to brush up on my French ;)

I received this book in exchange for my honest review.

I absolutely loved this book. This is about two people in love writing back and forth because he wanted to help his country after 9/11/2001. Natalie and Zach meet on a train. Two strangers that find comfort in each other but more than that love. This was such a refreshing read for more than one reason. We actually learn of their story in Ashley Pullo's other books but this can be read as a stand alone. Sometimes the letters are filled with love. some are funny and some are just full of raw emotions of a couples struggle with a long distance relationship. I loved Natalie and Zach from the beginning and this just gave us insight of their relationship. I would 100% recommend this book.

At first I thought it was a joke, what's with Shakespeare, Cleopatra, and Henry VIII, and Abraham Lincoln then Earnest Hemingway using modern foul language. But as I read on, despite the foul mouths of Zach and Natalie, their fun, charming, sexy but very real and profound relationship and their big hearts, beautiful souls shine through and pull me in deep. I even cried at what I had initially thought a foul joke. And I learned a few French phrases in the process. Can't beat that.

What I loved: Natalie and Zack's love letters to each other while he is stationed in Afghanistan. Hilarious. Beautiful. Poignant. They were easily my favorite couple from The Album so it was nice to get more from them.

What I didn't love: That greater than half of the book is spent on duplicated material from The Album. This would be good if I hadn't read The Album.

This book was a very easy read because it lacked depth and substance. This was a book basically about two young people that meet and can't talk without cussing and can't keep their hands off of each other. I live in a military town, and I can tell you these men an women don't take their job so casually as the main character does in this book. I just read Sarah' Key...so two very different books.
