I’m failing. My younger brother is getting worse, and my job - my duty - is to help him at all costs. We’ve tried everything modern medicine has to offer and nothing works. Nothing. Deciding to turn to unconventional treatments, we end up at Fire-on-the-Mountain, a holistic resort deep in the Rockies. In our search for medical marijuana, I find beautiful, free-spirited Hudson Shavell - a girl who may not only hold the key to heal my brother, but to fix me as well. Even though I can’t afford distractions right now, she’s all I can think about. All that I want.
It’s funny how everything can change with one little SPARK.
***Though Spark is the first book in the Fire on the Mountain Series, it is a stand alone novel***

TITLE: Spark AUTHOR: Erin Noelle GENRE: Contemporary Romance RELEASE DATE: April 19th 2015 MY RATING: ★★★★
Is it wrong to be crushing on the cover?? This is really easy to get into, hot cover, hot guy, what more could a girl ask for!!
TOKE | HOLD IN | AND RELEASE | AHHHHHHH
light hearted, sad, well rounded characters, loved the unique story line, the easy flow of the story, recreational and medical marijuana usage, so nuns yes this is a slightly taboo topic so best you move along!!
You could literally just get high on the amount of times the girl de-stressed lol
This is so much more than just your feel good typical romance, it dealt with the seriousness of seizures due to epilepsy, and that is where the medicinal marijuana came into play..
“I’m just a guy whose future plans include homeschooling my little brother during the day, slinging drinks for tips at night, and looking to get my rocks off sometime in-between."
“when I see her, my cock notices and wants to come out to play, but it’s more than that. She’s so much more than just a pair of tits and some warm holes, A girl like her deserves someone a helluva lot better than a guy like me"
“Whatever this spark is between y’all may blaze into something spectacular, or it may simmer out, but either way, I think you’ll be short-changing yourself if you don’t give it a shot"

Spark by Erin Noelle is a poignant, emotional, moving, endearing story that centers on family, life, death, illness, love, remorse and second chances. In this eloquent and gripping tale, Ms. Noelle allows her readers to be engrossed on the emotional toll and burdens of an illness that debilitates a young boy from living. In a family's quest for alternative medicine, it leads a young man rediscovering a spark within himself. A spark of Hope. Of Fate. Of Love. And of Second Chances. So when a spark of kindness starts a fire of love, will that spark be enough to ignite hope in a young man's plight of inner turmoil.
Do you believe in fate? Destiny? How about when you meet someone and feel that "spark"? You know the spark that gives you the warm fuzzy feelings, the goosebumps, and the beating of the heart that can't be explained but felt. That connection that you know that you were supposed to be with that one person. That person who gets you. The one who sees you. Well in this case, when Crew meets Hudson, he felt that spark. That pull and connection that you knew this person was the game changer. The one person who sparked and breathed new life into your soul.
With the strong attraction and pull to Hudson, Crew begins to find hope and love. She ignites a new sense of happiness in Crew's grey world. The once carefree Crew, who could get any woman he wants, wants only one person. Hudson, on the other hand is the innocent, virgin woman who has an old soul. She grew up in a household full of love and has this kindred spirit of generosity and humanity. So when Crew's family begins to look for an alternative medication for Crew's younger brother, who suffers from a debilitating illness that causes seizures, Hudson and her family offers Crew's family an alternative medication of marijuana to help combat the seizures. A new hope begins to emerge for Crew and his family. A sense that everything will be alright and things are beginning to look up for the family.
Meanwhile, sparks and attraction begins to surface when Crew and Hudson crosses the line of friendship and into something more. A new romance begins to emerge as these two kindred spirits begins to unite. Soon strong sparks of love begins to ignites causing an intense wildfire of love. But when the fire gets so big and out of control, can Crew manage to keep the spark and connection alive when he receives terrible news. When Crew finally found the light, is that spark strong enough to stay ignited or will it be embers in the ashes?
Spark is told in a dual POV, which allows readers to feel the vulnerabilities and raw emotions of Hudson and Crew. The story grips you to the core on the emotional struggle of life, love, and remorse. Ms. Noelle did an excellent job in showcasing how flawed these characters were and I think that's what makes them so special because of how real they felt. The beauty of this book was the simplicity of their love. It was just two people uniting and finding love, comfort, and understanding within each other. It was a love story that was simple yet complex, deep, and meaningful. It is true when they say love heals because in this case, love healed the hearts of not just two people but as well as he secondary characters. Ms. Noelle did an excellent job in writing a beautiful poignant tale of love, life, forgiveness, and second chances. So if you are looking for a book with that special spark, then I suggest you go read SPARK. Erin Noelle

A heartbreakingly, beautiful love story that ripped my heart out and pieced it back together again... numerous times.
I absolutely without a doubt LOVED Spark! I read it in one day and couldn't put it down longer than ten minutes at a time. Crew stole my heart from the very beginning. Seeing how much he cared for Caleb allowed me to quickly care for him and I just knew from the very first chapter that I'd be lost to him... and I was.
Crew and his mother have been dealing with his sick, 15 year old brother, Caleb and trying to find the best way to get control over his health and finding a way to make him better and ease his pain. Seeing how much Crew is there for his family through this tough time definitely stole my heart and made me feel for him. He has sacrificed a lot over the years to be the best big brother and supporter he could be, yet he has no idea how great that truly makes him. Seriously, how can you not fall for Crew just from this info alone? He made me tear up every single time he ran to his brother's side. It allowed us to see inside his heart and see how wonderful he truly was as a brother and a person.
When he meets Hudson, a beautiful, selfless young woman, he's drawn to her and she's drawn to him and helping his family in anyway that she can. Hudson is a beautiful character that you just can't help but to love. She cared for Caleb just as much as Crew and his mother did, even though she barely knew him. She is a healer and has spent most of her life putting others first and it is no different when the Elliot family storms into her life, changing everything she has been so familiar with over the years. Her and Crew start spending a lot of time together and you really get to see how much they are changing each other.
This is not part of the plan. She is not part of the plan. But now that we're here - here with her - the plan is being rewritten. It fucking has to be. -Crew
Spark definitely sparked a lot of emotions from me and I found myself attached to the book and all the characters in it before I was even half way through. And I have to mention how much I loved Crew's mouth and some of the things he said to Hudson. He was definitely sexy and hard not to swoon over.
"There's going to be a day real soon, Hudson that you'll beg me to never stop." -Crew
This is my first book by Erin Noelle and it definitely won't be my last. I fell asleep thinking about Crew and Hudson and woke up... STILL thinking about them! Oh and did I mention how much I LOVE the cover!! Get this book as soon as it comes out! 4/20! I promise you will not be disappointed. You will fall in love and never want Crew and Hudson's story to end. 5 stars all the way!!!!!!!!
Be sure to come join the release party on Facebook!
1. I found it kind of boring 2. Their emotions didn't feel like real, I couldn't feel their spark nor later their so-called love 3. I didn't like the joint sessions, everyone getting stoned although the weeds were also used for medical purposes in the book 4. I hate cheating as*hole heroes who act like shit towards the heroine just because they are in pain 5. I get pissed when the heroines forgive the cheating heroes
#NEWLOVE this was my first Noelle book. I found her writing to be fresh, quick and easy to follow. I enjoyed the story line quite a bit actually it something new. But I wanted and needed a bit more SEX, passion and romance to hold me. The pot growing virgin was ok for the first 75 pages then it annoyed me. But I was patient and the story unfolded. I did not like the HEA.
In the end I would recommend this book, there is plenty of entertainment value.
Disgusting. Oh well he broke up with her so it wasn't cheating, bullcrap. He did this just to hurt her and it's so disgusting that this author wrote this and I will never read another one from her. Shame on you for making this great story a sick, twisted teenage boy fantasy. I hate storylines like this and I feel like that's time I wasted and will never get back. Dear authors, if you can't come up with something original, don't write. It kills me because she had an original idea and she had to go and ruin it.
This is my first book by Erin Noelle and won't be my last. Erin Noelle not only can write a great book, but I can tell she's one hip lady by the music she mentions in the book (Trampled by Turtles and Ween!!!) - and her knowledge of other...stuff. I've been to Breckenridge, CO before and I love that place. It's one of my favorite mountains to visit. So it was nice read a book based in that area.
Anyway, I digress.
The best word I can use to describe this book would be ‘addictive’. This book is fun, flirty, sweet, angsty, heartbreaking and sexy. The romance that develops between Hudson and Crew felt carefree and organic. I also love the great group of side characters introduced. Well, all but two of them.
Crew is definitely sexy and loveable, but he does royally screw up. Or more like self-destructs when something terrible happens. He ends up making some bad decisions that badly hurt Hudson. So, if you don't like But he does redeem himself by the end.
My only issue is how fast the ending wrapped up. I guess I wanted more groveling or something. But, overall, I truly enjoyed this book. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author.
The Book Boyfriend Series is one of my all time favorites, so was nervous going into a new book, cause who wants to give a bad review to an author that wrote their favorite series, no one. Luckly for me I don't have to worry about it. I quite enjoy this story. It was a touching story with well developed characters and overall easy flow. Great Read!
Have you ever met someone and immediately know that there is just something there? An instant connection or spark? One you have never felt before and one you more than likely will never feel again because that spark is the kind that sets your entire world on fire?
When I heard about Spark- I wasn't sure what to make of it. Honestly, I knew it was going to be controversial and had something to do with marijuana and I assumed I might not connect to this subject- as I know little about it.
That's what you get when you assume anything.
I was wrong. Wrong for assuming. Wrong for judging. Wrong for not giving Erin Noelle the credit she deserves as a writer.
THIS BOOK IS NOTHING WHAT I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE BUT EVERYTHING I LOVE ABOUT READING.
It took me to a place I've never seen. A place that made me uncomfortable. A place where I realized that things I considered to be bad- really aren't always bad. This place felt like home. The people who lived there felt like family. Erin's poetic story weaved me through a life that was filled with so much meaning.
Crew has always been a ladies man. His Abercrombie and Fitch model looks and arrogant attitude are like a magnet for women. On the outside- he seems so "put together." But even people who have it all - have something to lose. Crew's 15 year old brother Caleb is very sick. The traditional medications aren't helping. He's only getting worse. What would you do for your family when Doctors can no longer help ease their pain? How far would you go? Packing their family up and moving to Colorado was their last hope. Controversial or not- they need to do everything they can to make Caleb's pain subside.
Hudson has always had a kind heart. She's an old soul in every way. Never been in love or even looking- she focuses on her green thumb helping her Father's business. Her family is very..... non-traditional to say the least but the love they share can not be denied. When Crew and his family arrive and Hudson's world is engulfed in flames. The person she is- is exactly what Crew needs but everything he fights to stay away from. The person he is - is exactly the kind of guy EVERY girl wants and thinks she can change but the kind that every girl falls for and ends up broken hearted.. Hudson's a game changer and Crew's not done playing the game. The funny thing about love is- you always seem to find it when you aren't looking and as hard as Crew and Hudson try to fight it- the Spark they share can not be ignored.
This book is SO much more than I can explain. It made me FEEL to my bones. Every emotion was evoked and after I finished I just sat there thinking about how I couldn't believe how AMAZING this book really was. Erin Noelle has always been one of my favorites. But now, with so many amazing authors out there- it's hard to make a story unlike all the others. Original storylines are few and far between but HO-LEE MOTHER OF ALL ERIN PULLED THIS OFF. It's SO different. It's SO amazing. It's AN ABSOLUTE MUST READ and in my top 5 of 2015 hands down.
I'll even go as far to say- it's Erin's best writing, best storyline, best cover to date. She dug deep with this one and it didn't go unnoticed.
HUGE 10 SCORCHING STARS FOR SPARK.
"Every minute of every hour of every day, all I want is you. It F*Ck*N consumes me."- Crew
This is my very first Erin Noelle book that I have read all on her own. I did happen to read another title by her and SE Hall that I greatly enjoyed but I honestly didn't know what to expect going into Spark except for that the amazing cover so freaking smoking hot. Whew. I absolutely love it. The beanie, the fire, the smoke...well it just made me really happy. ;) I am so glad that I decided to give this one a try based on that sexy as all get out cover because I really enjoyed it.
"You should never underestimate the power of a cute boy."
Ah! Crew is definitely your typical cocky and sexy bad boy book friend but in a lot of ways he is also completely different in just as many ways. He is completely selfless and loving and caring when it comes to his family. Especially his little bro, who suffers from a terrible illness that paves their small families path from Texas to a holistic medical marijuana resort in the Rocky Mountains in search of any kind of relief for his brother. There he meets hippy dippy Hudson Shavell.
"C'mere, baby, I'm ready for that dessert."
Hudson and Crew have an immediate attraction to each other and Hudson is determined to help Crew's little brother as much as she can but a series of events unfolds that will change all of their lives forever.
"How I made it through my first nineteen years, I'll never fucking understand, because my life didn't start until you entered it."
This book was completely different than other NA romance novels that I have read. The theme of the story was very deep and poignant but Erin somehow managed to still make some parts funny and the characters snarky and cute. I really enjoyed her writing as well. It is very well done and her descriptions of the people and area made me feel like I was there experiencing this beautiful resort in the mountains with this hippy family. Spark is told from both Hudson and Crew's point of view and had a very nice HEA!
I see a lot of people really liked this, but I just didn't connect with the characters. Maybe you have to be a pot smoker? No, probably not.
I liked Caleb. He was funny and didn't let his illness bring him down. It sucks such a good kid had to deal with that crap.
Hudson...I liked her name and her for the most part. Her parents were interesting. I never understand "hippie" parents and there need to not conform or whatever by being called mom and dad. Anyway I never understood why she didn't date in high school especially if your parents encourage sex and having sisters that were boy crazy. I think she smoked weed WHY to much. I mean sad smoke, bored smoke, angry smoke, stressed smoke, just because smoke. Every single day. I mean geesh. I know it's good for people who actually need it but I don't want to read about others smoking it constantly.
Crew seemed to be a good guy. He certainly was a good brother and son. He did think with his dick a bit to much, but he is also only 19. I liked him up until after his brothers death.
I understand he was having a hard time and carried a lot of guilt, but the way he treated Hudson wasn't okay. And to be a complete dick to her by using her body and the next day hooking up with Tasha!! WTF?
I just can't stand when girls/woman forgive so easily...Oh, you love me? Okay I forgive everything you've ever done. Rolls eyes. Annoying.
I read this in one day and I just wanted to finish quickly. I hate being so negative but it's just not for me. I don't think I'll read the next book in the series. :(

FIVE stars --- Noelle really shows her breadth as a writer in Spark––funny, sexy, sad, witty and poignant––all in exactly the right places. Set among the grandeur of the Colorado mountains and caught in the middle of legalized marijuana, skin bunnies and hipsters, Spark is not only a story about young love, but conviction, strength, and the meaning of family.
I LOVED this book and it was a definite departure from my regular reads. I wanted to move to the mountains and stay at the FIRE on the MOUNTAIN lodge and live/breathe with the characters -- that's how real they were portrayed. I felt their pain and emotion -- they were palpable.
There is nothing like young love, and yes parts of this are sad and the main characters make dumb mistakes, but that's being young and in love. That's what makes this book so outstanding - its full of tender and realistic emotions.
A five-star, do-not-miss, full-of-feels new adult read!
DNF at 60% - fortunately, while coming across some reviews as I was reading Spark, some disclosed spoilers That kind of killed the experience for me when I saw the signs as the story progressed and lost interest. Also, I do not care for weak heroines, which Hudson clearly was. Disappointed that the story took a turn for the worse from being an otherwise enjoyable read.

I think when Erin Noelle starts writing, she picks the most taboo topic she can think of and runs with it. No one can make forbidden seem mandatory like Erin Noelle can.
And I love it!
Overall, this story made me feel a mixture of emotions that spans the entire spectrum, and continued to throw me for a loop the entire time. I usually figure out how a story will play out within the first few chapters, but that's not the case here.
Plus, I think I hated every character at least once through out the book, but then loved them just as much- which is exactly what a good author makes you feel! Their love was so sweet and captivating, you just know you're rooting for them the entire time even when they do things that make you want to reach into your Kindle and smack them!
Erin Noelle is a captivating and amazing author and I'm so honored that she asked me to read this for her. I know you all will love this book as much as I did! It was a quick and happy read that I read in one sleepless night (blaming you, Erin!) and when it ended, I was DYING for more!
Luckily, we might get more of the family and the amazing characters in the upcoming sister's books! Yes please!
Spark isn’t for everyone. It contains cheating, death and the medical use of cannabis. Which for me in some cases really pushed me out of my comfort zone as I personally a very long time ago only had friends that used it in a recreational capacity and that wasn’t good.
What was important to me was that one of the characters involved had an unusual illness. As someone who has epilepsy let me tell you that I am lucky in that respect. I kind lead a relatively normal laugh without waiting for it to pounce on me. Yes, I have struggled but I do now feel comfortable. Please I do not want pity as that is the worst. Getting back to the review of this book.
Crew Elliott, what can I say? I loved him as a character and I also equally hated him. Crew moves with his Mum and brother Caleb; who has epilepsy, from Texas to Colorado. As Colorado offers the medical use of cannabis.
I loved him because he looked after his brother and gave up a lot to move but that is what family does. I hated him because through his grief he hurt, and I mean really hurt and pushed away the people that loved him. I fucked up majorly. I still think that he got off to easily but he did suffer.
The Elliott family stay at the Fire on the Mountain Resort. So that they can get settled in and find jobs as well as find an apartment and take care of Caleb.
Hudson is a hippie loving Barbie who is also a fixer. She runs the horticultural aspect at the resort which means the normal produce as well as the special produce.
She has a lot of siblings Juno, Nahli, Cheyenne, Dakota, Brighton and Denver. Named after the places that they were conceived.
Hudson is about to go on her first date but she meets Crew and can’t connect with her date Beckham. Crew wants Hudson and knows that she is special but doesn’t want to poach.
Caleb is the best and what happened to him gutted me. It is rare when the worst thing can happen is death and unfortunately it can’t be helped.
The chemistry between Crew and Hudson grows. And he is as blunt as they come. As soon as he knows that she is fair game. He makes her his.
”THIS IS NOT A PART of the plan. She is not a part of the plan. But now that we’re here-here with her- the plan is being rewritten. It fucking has to be.”
And then one day with a conniving bitch it all gets blown to smithereens. They do get there in the end but it is tough. I was rooting for them every step of the way.
This book was a real eye opener for me. Ms. Noelle created a beautiful piece of work that made me laugh, cry, want me throw my kindle at the wall and hug it all at the same time. As I mentioned this isn’t for everyone.
One thing that did annoy me. There was no mention of protection and seeing as he shagged someone else. Wouldn't you ask before you get back?
REVIEWER'S NOTE: Whenever I read fiction books, though I know they're not real, I always see their potential to be real. I say "Oh, this can happen in real life."... Well, this book's dilemma could definitely happen in real life! I'm a nurse, so I know just how serious Epilepsy could be. I have personally witnessed attacks like this before and it's not pretty. Now, for this book to describe just how the family truly cared for Caleb (the boy with this illness)? Let's just say it touched my heart big time.
Okay.. now onto the review!
Another book that makes me feel like I should treasure the life that I've been given!
To be very honest, I had little expectation from this book. I just wanted to read a good book that will make me feel better. I've been ill these past few weeks, so I just wanted to relax and go hide inside a romantic book. I also confess that I read this because of the hot guy in the cover, which if I may say so, is the perfect CREW!! Anyway, with that shallow reason... I got to discover a book that will surely touch your heart.
Crew is a character that you'd want your daughter to date and it's not just because he's handsome and hot and all that girly definition of a man. It's because he's responsible, he puts the other person's needs before him, he thinks like he has the weight of the world on his shoulders, he is the perfect combination of alpha and husband material. But of course, he ain't perfect. Crew has his moments of umm.. well.. hot headedness. However, being the forgiving reader that I am, I always forgive him. How he interacts with his family definitely makes up for his lack of social skills sometimes. :)
Now on the other hand.. we have the selfless and truly kind Hudson. Such a beautiful character! I imagined her as a good kind of girl, very pretty inside and out. She's a helper, a fixer and a natural born nurturer. She finds herself head over heels with Crew and off they go on a roller coaster of emotions. I can't imagine living a life like hers. She's actually more free than many other characters I come across. Her family is one of a kind. There are so many of them and all of them look promising. Anyway, she's just someone you'd want your son to hold on to forever. A good kind of woman who's smart and who could also be fun. :)
The story here revolves around their interaction with each others' families. It's their sense of responsibility that will make you love them both. What I love about this too is that the people around them, the parents, the siblings, even the right kind of friends are monumental to building their kind of a relationship. They helped these two characters grow and they made things easy for them and that's a big thing because when you read this, you'll see just how serious life can be.
Watch them get together, stay together, break apart and find each other once again. :)
Such a heartfelt (and hot) story!
Recommended for those who want their hearts tugged.
Crew has become the man of the house, taking on a whole load of responsibility since his family found out his brother Caleb had epilepsy. After trying every medication to help control the seizures they find themselves clutching at straws. The only thing left is medicinal Marijuana, forcing a move to Colorado.
Hudson has grown up in a world of tranquility. Her family being the main growers and distributors of the town Medicinal Marijuana. Living a simple carefree life is all she's ever know.
When Hudson and Crew meet the 'Spark' is formed and these two are way out of their depth when it comes to each other.
Now I have a whole list of things that I had problems with throughout this book, but I couldn't bring myself to put it down. I really liked Crew in the beginning, but my god by three quarters through I could of beat the ever loving shite out of him. Moments where I'm sat thinking wtf did you do that for and how I didn't throw my kindle at the wall I'll never know.
When I first emailed Erin it was to talk about MILF, her other 5 star book that I loved. I wanted to ask questions about her next story, which I thought was Puma, was I wrong. She started talking to me about her book Spark. I was kind of confused. She said it’s about medical marijuana. I was a little torn, since I didn’t know much about anything she was telling me. I was on the fence, I wasn’t sure. Well let me say this I. Was. Wrong. Not only did I fall in love with this, but it sent my heart into a tailspin. It’s a story not even about the fact that its medical marijuana but about love, loss, healing and forgiveness. It’s a story that stays with you in your heart and head long after you have read the last word.
Here is my journey into Spark.
I’m failing. My younger brother is getting worse, and my job - my duty - is to help him at all costs. We’ve tried everything modern medicine has to offer and nothing works. Nothing.
Those words suck you in and it’s only the synopsis. You’re wondering what is this?
Meet Caleb Elliott, 13-year-old beautiful little boy, with not a care in the world. His biggest dream is to get more girls than hot for trot big brother Crew. Crew is 19-year-old high school graduate. He should be attending frat parties, and choosing colleges. But all that changes in one moment. Meet Caleb Elliott who has been diagnosed with Grand Mal epilepsy.
The episodes are growing more and more frequent and their severity is only intensifying. We’ve tried damn near every drug on the market, even the ones not covered by insurance, and nothing is working. I know there has to be something out there that can help him. Something. Somewhere. And I’m going to do whatever is necessary to find it.
The worse thing in the world for a family is when one is ill, and we wish this illness for ourselves. When seeing someone you love suffer you feel helpless, you feel defeated, you also feel that you must be courageous and most of all you know that you will do whatever you need to do in order to make them all better.
Deciding to turn to unconventional treatments, we end up at Fire-on-the-Mountain, a holistic resort deep in the Rockies. In our search for medical marijuana, I find beautiful, free-spirited Hudson Shavell.
Meet Hudson Shavell. A beautiful soul. A beautiful person inside and out. Her dream is to heal people, to fix people. She is a fixer. She is an angel.
Her parents Doug and Melissa run the resort. They are the proud parents of seven kids, that’s right - seven kids. All have their own traits, but Hudson -she’s has a green thumb and that thumb is what is going to change their lives.
Pot is such a natural thing for me-a part of my everyday life in multiple ways-that I forget it’s not like that for everyone else.
Hudson has never been in love. She wants it, she’s just never been able to find that feeling. That feeling where her heart races, her breath stops and her palms get sweaty. Everything changes in a blink of a eye.
I stop speaking mid-sentence, every thought I have disappearing before it reaches the tip of my tongue as I simply stare at him. The horses have awakened, but they’re no longer running from nervousness and anxiety in the pit of my stomach. Instead, they’re galloping inside my chest, racing to keep up with my pounding heart, thus warming my body from the inside out.
Crew doesn’t need a distraction; he needs one thing and that is for Hudson to help his brother. What he isn’t ready for is to have her impale herself inside his thoughts. He isn’t ready for her to mean anything to him. Sometimes you just have to embrace that fate has a different path for you. I mean they just met, how can one person start to become your whole life?
The moment my eyes meet hers, the breath hitches in my lungs and I stop dead in my tracks, completely caught off-guard by the sight of her. Hudson-wearing an old, plaid, flannel button-up, black leggings, furry boots, and not a drop of make-up-might be the most exquisite thing I’ve ever seen. And suddenly, I realize I’m the farthest place from Heaven I could ever be. Only in Hell would a creature so beautiful be dangled in my face, along with the knowledge that I can’t have her.
Oh. My. God. This is where the book has me hooked and we are only at 11%. My mind is reeling. My heart is pounding. My thoughts are all over the place. I’m yelling at them to look at the love that they are given. In the middle of misery and despair comes a shining light. I’m hoping that they both see that their meeting each other is in fact a gift. A gift that was given to them. You see it’s fate. It was always fate to have them meet. It was always meant for them to be.
Crew has a way of looking at me that makes me feel like I’m the only other person in the room, which is simultaneously enthralling and unnerving, mostly because this guy is a complete stranger.
This complete stranger has invaded her life. His family has made it’s way into her heart and she vows to do whatever she can to make Caleb better. When push comes to shove these two finally acknowledge that they do have a spark. Their spark is always lighting up when the other is in the room. Can you possible stay away from this?
His mouth is on mine before I can finish the thought, shutting me up instantly. Caught off-guard by his sudden movement, I scrunch the soft cotton of his gray hoodie in between my fingers, holding on tightly as his kiss steal away not only my words, but any sensible thought I have left.
Now their lives are moving along. He is moving on and accepting that she is there. He is opening his eyes and is accepting that it is fate that she is part of the plan. His future is being rewritten with her in it, but then there is a setback. A setback that he has no control over. A setback that shatters him and his soul. Turning his once white soul into a black hole.
Some things in life are purely unexplainable, no rhyme or reason, completely unforeseen and unexpected. Call it fate, call it destiny, call it whatever the hell you want; sometimes crazy sh*t just happens. Simple as that.
They say you always hurt the ones you love, because in the end the love they have will help heal you. This isn’t the case. What you are in this downward spiral and you feel like your life doesn’t have any meaning you strike out to hurt. You have to make sure the ones around you hurt just as much as you. It isn’t malicious, it isn’t cruel, it is their way to make sure you know they can feel. Make you feel their pain. Make you understand that they bleed into their soul and it is their call for help.
I hate myself enough at the moment as the reality of what I’ve just done sinks into my now sober mind. I don’t need to see my pathetic reflection. The sad part is even though I know I’ve hit rock bottom. I’m not sure I care enough about it.
I told you this was a story about love, loss, healing and forgiveness. Well it is so much more. It’s also about acceptance. Accepting that you aren’t that perfect person. It’s accepting that you have hurt the ones you love. It’s accepting that you will change. It’s accepting that you will survive. It’s accepting that that one spark will always light you up because of her. It’s knowing that her spark is it for you. It’s knowing that you will do whatever you can to make sure that you make yourself her spark.
The tip of my nose traces along the shell of her ear. First up, then down. “I miss you. From the first day we hung out, all I’ve thought about is you. Your smile – f*ck, those lips, the things they do to me. Your spirit. You heal people, Hudson, and I wasn’t ready t be healed. To be whole. But I can’t live like this any longer. In pieces without you. I can’t be whole without you.”
Full circle. Those are the two words that I can think of right now to describe this. It’s always full circle. The battle to get there may have gutted and shattered you, but if you have your spark there you know that in the end you will both light each other up.
It’s funny how everything can change with one little spark.
I got this book during the Easter holidays and let me just say when I did put it down to do family things, my mind wasn’t on my family; it was on the characters in this book. They weaved themselves into my mind and heart and I could swear Crew was talking to me like the devil that he is. He was baiting me to leave and go read his story. I was itching to get back into this book and had I been able I would have finished it in one sitting. It. Was. That. Good.
I just finished the latest (well, soon to be published) Erin Noelle novel
I won't lie ... I was really nervous. I haven't been able to get into ANY book for like 3-4 weeks ... not a single one. I've tried. And then there's the issue of how much I loved Surviving Us and MILF both by Erin Noelle and I wasn't sure she would top those two ...
SHE FREAKING DID!!!!!
Spark was WONDERFUL ... the characters were REAL ... the conflict was REAL ... OMG .. it was just .. PERFECT in every sense of the word.
There were a few times I had to step away ... Erin has this magical way of making you think that it's safe and your guard should come down, then she reverses, back tracks a tiny bit and runs the other way ... leaving you completely speechless ... or, if you're like me, with a truck load of expletives
Bottom line is ... Erin Noelle hit this one out of the park. She gives you EXACTLY what you want when you want it, like she was in my brain, piecing together the perfect new adult novel. Like she was like "I wonder how Ashley would feel about this" and then WHAM she gives it to me ... you will love, you will cry, you will be broken, you will be empathetic, you will be ANGRY AS FAAAK, and you will be put back together in a way that only Erin can ...
This was my first encounter with Erin and I am going to say that I'm in love with her writing. After seeing the trailer which brought me to tears I was sure this would be an UGLY CRY book and let me tell you that I love UGLY CRIES.
The prologue had me screaming OH MY FEELS just 3-4 pages into the book and I was sure I would not survive with my heart intact. And I was correct. With her words and her beautiful characters and their quirks Erin has made a place in my heart. After the prologue the book was fairly easy and funny and I wanna hug the characters good. I loved Hudson and her parents and her sisters and brother and grandmother. And then there was Crew and Caleb and their parent. Their mother has my special respect for withstanding so much, while I loved Crew he still managed to make me both cringe and made me want to hug him at the same time from the beginning, and Caleb. Caleb stole my heart and kept it hostage. There's a reason all the Calebs in my life have a special place in my heart. And this Caleb grabbed my heart and squeezed it hard and then promptly burrowed inside to stay safe inside forever.
This was a story about a brother wanting his kid brother to not hurt anymore and in the process of finding the cure he becomes entangled with a girl. This was a story about first loves and devastation and heartbreak and great loss.
If you wanna know about the older and insanely protective brother, Crew and the brightly shining star named Caleb and the girl, Hudson, who changes them forever then I would recommend that you 1-click this baby and dive into the spark which will burn brightly only to maybe die and maybe rekindle slowly to become an internal flame.
I wanted to read this because I thought it would be unique with the weed angle. I'm not really caught up in the marijuana debate so I'm not even going to touch that. I will say that if someone is strongly anti-marijuana this probably isn't a story for you. There is both medical and recreational usage and talk throughout the story. The author also has note at the end with discussion on the topic.
Crew is newly graduated. He's the oldest son and lives with his single mom and brother. His brother, Caleb, has a severe form of epilepsy. After exhausting all efforts with traditional and experimental medicines available with no results, the three move to Colorado in search of help in the form of medical marijuana. When they first arrive, they happen to be staying on the property of a family of growers/sellers/users.
Family is a major part of the plot. The Shavell's have a whole hippy vibe going on. They have several kids. They all work together and are very close. The extended family is also very close, uncles, grandmother, etc. The Shavell's, especially Hudson, are givers. They immediately try to help Crew's family. Crew is a wonderful big brother. Caleb's personality makes everyone fall for him. They all fit in together perfectly. Hudson and Crew have an attraction that cannot be denied, but it is tested.
Sometimes while reading I was expecting one of those mixups that get blown way out of proportion so I was preparing to roll my eyes. Thankfully, it didn't go down quite that way. Major mistakes and bad things and sad things do happen, but they didn't make me dislike the characters for it. The reactions and results felt true to life.
3.5 stars Everyone else rated this 5 stars so I may have been having an off day. Major things happen in it, but I didn't feel as emotionally connected to what happened as I would have liked to be. I felt like the purpose of Spark was more to give a pro weed opinion than to give the characters' story. I did feel the emotions some, but not like I should have.
Heart ripper! Anyone that’s ever read Erin Noelle’s work will know what I’m talking about. This book has put me into a serious book hangover. There are no words for this coma inducing wild ride, except to say: grab it! Our main female lead, Hudson, comes from a large family in Colorado where the green of money is made through selling legalized marijuana. Peace-loving hippies, they aim to be the perfect operation. Enter Crew: a player and troublemaker. He moves to Colorado with his mother and brother, searching for assistance for his brother. [image error] He meets Hudson and the world shifts on its axis for the both of them. The subject matter is tough and controversial in this work. It’s something other authors shy away from, but Erin dives right in. There are so many characters and elements to this story, but Erin brings them all together perfectly. This read is epic. It will bring out all your emotions. It will leave you staring out the window and questioning the nature of love. Roll on the next book! I cannot wait.
There's nothing in the world like the SPARK you get from that one person who gives you that feeling and at the same time leaves you breathless and enamored.
For Crew Elliot the person who gives him the SPARK is Hudson Shavelle. Crew and his mother Mary and younger brother Caleb set on journey to help improve Caleb's health. Hudson is a natural healer who loves to do nothing more than to help heal the body and soul. She is Hudson the Hipster. Crew is your typical Texas boy, southern drawl with the charm that can wet your panties in a second, and Hudson finds that out fast.
Hudson's family own a local dispensary for legal and medical marijuana in Denver Colorado along with a Lodge for vacationers who come to Denver. Hudson and her family along with many sisters and a brother all help out with the family's businesses. It is where Crew first gets to know Hudson and eventually...well you know.
As Crew and Hudson grown into a relationship a turn of events changes everything. Crew's world now is no longer his family and Hudson and he becomes cold and withdrawn, mean to those he thought he loved.
I will take everything and more for Crew to crawl out of his black hole and win the SPARK back from Hudson again if he can.
Erin wrote a beautiful story of love, trust and heartbreak here with Spark and I am looking forward to more from this series in the next installment. No this is not a cliffhanger if that is what you think it will be a continuation of another character from this book.
I really enjoyed this book. It was such a fresh take on a typical NA story. Noelle kept me absorbed from beginning to end.
Crew recently moved to Breckenridge with his mother and younger brother, Caleb, who has epilepsy. After many forms of treatment they're ready to explore the use of marijuana to reduce Caleb's pain. They've come to the right place. They're staying at Fire on the Mountain resort run by Hudson's family. Hudson, herself, specializes in growing marijuana and she helps Caleb and his family with the process. But Hudson and Crew are making some sparks of their own.
When tragedy strikes I really hated the A-Hole Crew turned into. He was hurting but the way he treated Hudson was pretty unforgiveable and if she was raised any other way she might not have forgiven Crew.
I really liked her family. Her parents were supportive and loyal but laid back and gave Hudson and her sisters room to be independent and make their own mistakes.
This book was as emotional as it was entertaining. I'm looking forward to Dakota's story. Well done!
This was my first Erin Noelle book and I wasn't disappointed in the least bit! I've never read a story with this type of plot line but I really enjoyed it. Erin balanced the seriousness Crew and Caleb's situation with super hot scenes between Crew and Caleb. Spark sucked me in from the first chapter, and left me wanting more...which is great since this is the first in the Fire on the Mountain series!
