ANOTHER WINNER, JUST BRILLIANT!!
Sixth book in series and I'm loving it just as much as first one and that is amazing, I mean there's normally one book in a series that's not quite as good, but not here, I have loved every one.
Excellent writing, I LOVE the way the main characters 'talk' to the readers.
Amazing characters that are all so likeable in different ways
Really enjoyed Erin and C.J' s story.....bring on the next one...I hope it's the one I'm dying for....Luke's story !!

Move over Maxx and Logan, Erin and CJ are a force to be reckoned with. I have been dying for their story since I have read Blind, and it was effing phenomenal. Once again Xavier gives us a fun and sexy read. You always end up loving her characters like they were your own family.
Ok so we have Erin, a woman with a firecracker personality. She is a make up artist, and fashionable diva. She is a woman version of Logan so you know that is going to be fun!!!! Now CJ is a completely different story..... We all know that he has kept some secrets, but let me tell you this man is so effing hot, the devil will be jealous.
Now of course we get some funny and witty banter from our favorite couple, and they have more balls than they know what to do with. But when things finally start looking good for them both, secrets come to a head and the broken pieces may never get repaired. Ladies, if you love Logan, you will be in love with CJ by the end.
There just might be a BIG surprise when it comes to CJ, but my lips are sealed!!!

CJ & Erin are hot hot hot!
Hot lawyer, check, knows his way around a woman, check, has the body V, check & you know what I mean, gets what he wants check.
Erin is one fiesty quick witted, sarcastic female, a female version of man whore Logan in this series and never had more than a one night stand well until C.J, & friends with benefits never works in these reads we know that.
Great read, still get glimpses of the other characters from the series.
The characters address the reader in this book to like in the other books
e.g I saw you looking you were dribbling too weren't ya.
This makes it unique its fun and different, love it.
It was a great hot, fast paced read with good plot.

Love CJ and Erin! I've liked Erin and her attitude from the beginning and loved getting to see more of her. CJ is a great guy and I love the back and forth that the two of them have. They touched my heart and I enjoyed every moment I was able to spend with them.

Sizzling chemistry is the relationship that C.J. White and Erin Hart has but the extent to that connection can only go to far as sex; however, they tend to fight like a married couple. A chance for more is much difficult to grasp especially since one has a time frame of heading back home after hiding out and the other who is so hesitant on being with anyone because of her family history. Plus, the secrets that they are keeping from each other will either make them or break them.
"I wanted to share this with you. I wanted you to know that this is more than just sex to me. You matter to me. You matter to me on a completely different level…”
This 4 stars rating is the first book and in the series that I have read by this author. Although this was the 6th book in the set I was easily able to connect the dots of each characters link to each other that was written. C.J. and Erin’s story had lots of banter, tension, and a history and a life that had me hoping that they can seek past their issues. And the steamy moments were undeniably HOT! I definitely would read more from this writer and you have a new reader in me! ;)

Sometimes being in a car with Erin can get frustrating, especially when the woman's hands have one thing in mind, "I'd just rather completely focus on your hand on my d***." I groan before moaning under my breath, "Eff, Erin..." CJ, he can be a generous fellow especially where the panties are concerned, "I'll buy them in Every. Effing. Color." His lips fall to my ear. "And then I'll rip them off you all over again." Even while joking with her man about another man he can get jealous, "in case you forgot babe how good I was in the sack yesterday let me remind you why you wouldn't even think of effing the milk man." CJ he's protective and loves to see his woman dressed up but not at the price of other men seeing her that way as well, "as much as I enjoy the view babe, you're my woman and I don't appreciate the entire world getting a view of that a** I'm gonna spank later tonight." I loved this book we even got to see Maxx and Logan and how they're handling their certain situation.

I have been waiting rather impatiently for this book about one of my favorite characters from the Senses series, C.J. Again, not only did Xavier meet my expectations, but she blew them out of the water!
Readers were introduced to C.J. and Erin in all the previous novels. C.J. is the sexy bartender with a secret (although we don’t know what it is). Erin is Maxx’s beautiful, mouthy, tough best friend who isn’t ever with the same man more than a few times. C.J. and Erin have been tip toeing around their attraction to each other for a while, but it’s evident when they are in the same room…the sexual tension is combustible. However, now they have decided to have a “no strings” sexual affair for 30 days. You’re wondering why the 30 days? Well, you have to read it to find out why! Xavier was so great in giving us little tidbits about the secrets that C.J. and Erin are hiding. We finally get a peek of them in this book! Xavier writes such well-developed characters, but I think these two are the most well developed so far. Yes, I still love you, Maxx and Logan! You are still my favorite nerd girl and sexy MMA fighter!
Let me just say, Xavier knows how to write a sex scene, HOLY SMOKES, I thought my Kindle was going to explode! If you think Maxx and Logan were HOT, then you really need to meet Erin and C.J. At first, it’s just sex and A LOT OF IT. Eventually, our hard-headed and scarred Erin allows some of her walls to crumble so that she finally acknowledges that she has deeper feelings for C.J. There isn’t any question of feelings on C.J.’s part. He knows how he feels about her. It was nice to see the vulnerable, sweet side of Erin peeking through on occasion.
Callous is full of sweetness, sexiness, and Xavier’s trademark humor that makes readers connect with her characters. It was a multi-layered story with multi-layered characters that I thoroughly enjoyed peeling back those layers to truly see her characters. As always after finishing one of Xavier’s books, I have a major book hangover. Another winner for her; she is a writing force to be reckoned with!

Oh my, where do I start. Through the first 5 books about Maxx and Logan you made me fall in love with the whole circle of "family". So it was bittersweet when I finished book 5, Savor, knowing that it was pretty much the end for Maxx and Logan. Until I got reading book 6, Callous! It also is amazing just like the first 5 books. Strong, lovable story-line with amazing characters! Sure you have had 5 books to build these characters up for us but this book shows us the real Erin and the real C.J. Erin was even more stubborn and head-strong than Maxx was but in the end true love does change people. I think the years of tormenting herself and suffering because of insecurities finally came to a head. Also, thanks to Logan using a little reverse psychology on her pushed her a bit also. Like I said, the love this patchwork family has is unbreakable! Looking forward to book 7!

She broke down
Erin is just as stubborn as her best friend Maxx. Poor C.J. caught holy hell but he determined that she was worth the one year chase. He knew what he wanted and did not give up. Just one taste, and they were both hooked.
I don't blame C.J. from running away from Christian White. He came to hate the world he was from and ran away to find himself. His life in Texas became the life he wanted and his niche. That former fiance of his was a piece of work, a stone hell on wheels golddigger.
This has been an interesting story. I can't wait to see what else Jess, C.J.'s ex, has in store for C.J. and Erin and how his reunion with his parents will go.

They both have secrets and his are pretty big for her. Hers are just as big but don't really bother him.
One of his secrets is he's hiding from his family and past. Now one year later his father says he needs to come back home and his position that he abandoned. They made an agreement 30 days... that's how long he has with Erin till he goes home.
Thirty days later and his secret has been let out of the preverbal bag by someone from his past.
Can they ,really her, get over everything??? I hope so .

What is up with having inner monologue interrupting the flow of the story with relentless chattering, especially done in bold italics. How flipping annoying.
Te story is an okay one, lots of secondary characters which mean you have to read previous stories to work out them out best and catch any and all underlying nuances in the relationships.
Erin and CJ were okay characters, friend to lovers take on it. However i could notenjoy to the annoying factor of interruptive inner monologue on paper. blahhhhhh

Another hit
I loved getting to know Erin and C.J more. I loved their characters during Maxx and Logan's story so them having their own was awesome! Erin has gone through quite a bit and is the girl version of Logan. C.J is running from his past and wanting to be his own person. Him and Erin have a love hate relationship to start but there's always more than what meets the eye....

I love CJ, he's a great hero character. Dealing with life doing as is expected and not wanted, leads CJ to breaking out in his own. Not surprisingly he has secrets he's not ready to reveal. However that choice is taken from him to soon. Erin has dealt with her parents death the only way she knew how, not to reveal her true self, that is until she can't resist CJ any longer. Together can they overcome what life has thrown at them?

Loved this Story
I wasn't sure I wanted to read about Erin. Boy, was I wrong. I loved reading about how her relationship with CJ evolved. You knew these two were good together, but Erin's stubbornness was the major obstacle.
The story had a lot more layers than you would initially imagine. You found yourself really rooting for CO and hoping Erin would finally give into her heart.
The story was a great continuation of the Hart/Keller saga.

I absolutely have loved Erins slightly snarky straight forward personality throughout this series and finally getting to read her story was so great. I mean, C.J is someone I’ve been trying to figure out and I’m so glad I finally have. These two have been fighting their attraction for each other for long enough and getting to finally discover all of their hesitations was what I had been waiting for.

Ya know we ALL KNEW these two stubborn people were gonna end up together, I just never pictured all the turmoil they had to go through to get to there HEA!
I loved that CJ never gave up on his pursuit of his feisty Erin, I loved watching these to verbally spar with one another.

The Senses Series has been an amazing find, one that I am completely and hopelessly addicted to.
I adore the writing style, the characterization and flow of the whole story. I am besotted by the magnificent Logan Kellar and his firecracker of a wife Maxx- how happy am I that they got their happy ever after- ecstatic, that’s how happy!!!
But in this book 6 of the series, the story swings to Erin and CJ. But the rest of the “family”, Luke, Dean and Stuart, Tony and of course Logan and Maxx are very much included in the tale.
CJ and Erin have skirted around each other for so long I wasn’t actually sure they were ever going to get their act together but sometimes it is the case of wanting what you don’t want, and while CJ wants her with every fibre in his body, Erin has a tougher shell to crack, one that he has cocooned herself in and even she doesn’t think there is a way through.
But when his hand is forced and his life before he came to the bar is waved before his face as a threat, his will power evaporates and Erin’s armour is about to be taken apart, piece by piece because this reluctant legal eagle is not letting his chance to have her slip away, and now his days are numbered he has to get a wiggle on!
Secrets surround the pair of them but they are closer in nature that we would have ever believed, when their pasts are eventually divulged it was quite unnerving just how close the two of them actually are, had Erin’s parents still been alive they could very well have mixed in very similar circles.
The sex between the two of them is off the chart, hell the book should be sold with a fan included!
But with only a thirty day arrangement between them, CJ fears the fact that the will have to leave and have nothing to come back too and Erin fears the fact that she is feeling things that she had always pretended were not for her.
I loved the fact that their secrets were teased from them and that they both had agendas that were running parallel to what as a reader you had your fingers crossed for.
I wanted them to find a way to make it work, I just hadn’t anticipated the way that the author opened them up and not only drew them closer to each other but enabled them to show by addressing the things that had been holding them back that the changes were made because and only because of the feelings that they were experiencing for each other.
Erin did a complete about turn and I was cheering her all the way. Sometimes getting your happy ever after costs you everything you have but those happy ever afters last a lifetime.
I have to say that I appreciated the fact that Xavier kept the rest of the gang prominently positioned in the story, reading about Maxx and her pregnancy made me smile, Logan and Dean, well what can I say, their continuing bond as father and son- simply astonishing, he really is a mini Logan- his book ( which I hope we get) will be fantastic, Luke too ever present and Stuart who I hadn’t paid much attention to before but who is CJ’s shoulder to lean on in this book (and who definitely has an interesting tale unfolding for him).
I LOVE this series and I cannot recommend it enough.
Logan Kellar stole my heart in the earlier novels and he is refusing to give it back – not that I would want it anyway but I have to admit that CJ and his dirty, demanding mouth are running a close second.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Being a huge fan of Neal's "Senses series", I was more than a little intimidated by approaching C.J. and Erin's story. While a spin-off will immediately draw the attention of previous readers, there is always the chance of biased emotions interfering with the new story.
Obviously, I had a bad case of amnesia and forgot who wrote the book! Expect all of the characters we love to love and love to laugh over to be present enough to Fan-girl over, but not so much that it dominates the attention away from Erin and C.J.'s love to hate you and love you to love me relationship.
I was more than a little intrigued from the very start of the book. Each turn of the page did not satiate my growing obsession. As the story continued I knew it would be no more quenched than it was with Maxx and Logan's story. That would be never. There will never, ever be enough of these characters in my life. They're not only loveable and realistic. Their dialogue and life stories embed themselves into your heart. They are home.
First, the anticipation surrounding C.J.'s unfortunate circumstances held me teetering in fierce denial. Once someone has joined the family, I'd rather see them held captive than walking away. C.J's confessions to Erin kept me swooning long after the book ended. It left an ache for everything a woman needs, not wants, needs in a man. Swooning doesn't justify this level of perfection.
Though I may have, sort of, wanted to pound Erin's obstinance from her, where would the tension be? A character straying from her key character "traits" wouldn't fair well or be of much use for the story-line. As a reader, I'm allowed to wanna slap and hug her at the same time. I wouldn't change her quick-witted quips or snarky attitude at all. She's hysterical, confident, determined, and underneath it all she has a heart of Gold. Erin's vulnerabilities introduced me to a new side of her to adore.
Moving on, we have the sexual attraction between the two and that alone was enough to drive me insane. Discovering the sentimental side of CJ, via his point of view, melted my heart. Understanding the complex, internal impact surrounding Erin's life was heart breaking. The execution of unknown revelations pertaining to the death of her parents added a broader element of intrigue to the picture. I thoroughly enjoyed the diversity of issues in the plot and the execution is written flawlessly.
The sexual content of Callous is delicious and utterly intoxicating. The scenes are steamy and explicit, but Neal also threw in such an intense level of passion it reinvigorate's desires that make her former novels appear amateur. I am nuts over Max and Logan, but Neal showed so much progress as a writer that I was left riding a blissful high.
Callous is beyond extraordinary and the emotional effects have left me speechless. It's perfect. I could search a thesaurus looking for synonyms to amp up the review, but perfect says it all. The story can speak for itself justifiably.

Callous is a sexy, laugh out loud, book. But that's no surprise. Every story that comes out of this series, just brings more sexiness and laughs each book.
C.J. White & Erin Hart have been going around and around with one another for a long time now. All there friends see there meant to be. Hell, they said it to there faces time and again.
C.J. has no problem being with Erin. Sure he has some secrets, secrets only a handful of people know, like his best friend Stuart, Maxx Kellar, Logan Kellar, and his new nephew, Dean Kellar. But even with his secret, Erin is the only one who truly knows him. He'll tell her when the time comes. But with the way Erin likes to run at the sign of feelings, he's afraid he'll lose her before he even gets the chance to tell her.
Ever since Erin & her brother Luke, lost there parents, Erin has been very distant with people. She's only let four people get close to her. Luke, Maxx, Logan & Dean.
When it comes to men, Erin's the hit it and quit it type. She wont get attached or fall in love. She's lost to much and has hurt to long, to let love in. But C.J. is a persistent man. He wont give up easy.
And when he suggest one month of them being together, and then they'll go there separate ways, Erin might be in trouble.
She thinks she can walk away. But that love word looks like its sneaking up on her.

Loved this couple, Erin, is a fierce, gorgeous, wont take shit, women. She's an amazing friend & aunt. Who doesn't let to many people see how vulnerable she is. You really get to see the girl you loved, in the first books, blossom, in her own story.
I've crushed on C.J. since Xavier first introduced us to him. Tall, sexy, bartender, who can rock a suite and tie. I fell for him so hard in this book. He's a dreamy, dirty talk, sweetheart.
"You matter to me. You matter to me on a completely different level...."
I can't wait to see more of all these characters in the following books!

CJ and Erin have the perfect love/hate relationship. They fight. They f**k. They give just as good as they take. It’s a great tug of war with these two. I was ecstatic to finally get to their story! We know from Logan and Maxx’s story from the Senses Series that CJ has kept a big secret for a while now. A few in the inner circle know only because CJ was able to help in a sticky situation. His secret? He was a big successful lawyer back home. He’s not just the paycheck to paycheck bartender he’s pretending to be. He comes from old money and has plenty of his own stored away.
So what’s the problem right? What woman wouldn’t want to snatch up a very sexy successful lawyer? Well, Erin has a bitter distaste for lawyers and she has her reasons. CJ knows the reasons and that’s why he keeps it from her. In the meantime, CJ has been given an ultimatum by his father and is on borrowed time. He has 30 days left to spend with Erin and convince her that what they have is more. She goes along with it.
Will it work? Will Erin forgive CJ for keeping the truth from her? Will she be able to handle the full truth? Erin has her own secrets as well. I held my breath for a while with my fingers crossed for these two. Everyone around them could tell they were a perfect match. But is it enough?
The time they did spend together was off the charts hot. CJ is hot and sexy. Erin is a force to reckon with. I loved these two characters. I miss them but look forward to more of them in the books of the series to come. I love the way Xavier Neal writes. Getting the inner thoughts of her characters is very entertaining to say the least. Guy...GUYS...let's first take a good hour to take in the hotness that is CJ. Okay you got that orgasm out of your system? Good. Holy crap this book was awesome. X has done it again. We got to see the vulnerable side of Erin. In the other stories she came across as the fun loving bitch, but now I love her and just want to bake with her. She was sarcastic, a ball buster and so damn funny. CJ, MMMM, CJ. I just want to climb that man like Mount Everest. He was so hot and domineering, I was just hoping for one line where Xavier makes Erin call CJ "daddy" in the middle of one of those orgasms, but given her daddy issues, I understand. This book had it all, the angst, the romance, the sexy times (gawd the sexy times) and the Kellers. Maxx my book nerd sista! Logan, I see you boo being all heart to heart and what not. Coming towards the end in the car ride, that mofo had me crying. I love you Logan. CJ is now my new book boyfriend. (sorry Logan) I love the humor in this book, X's humor is so smart and sassy, she's like my spirit animal. I also love the family dynamic of the Kellers/Harts/Tony/CJ/Stuart. These guys just have each others back. Now onto Tony!!! I just hope we get a Luke and Dean story.It's scarily good how Dean is mini-me Logan, so his book should be another roller coaster of feels. I mean, that little scene with Stuart and Sara (I think that was her name) you can't leave me hanging like that. I need to KNOW more, and Luke needs his happy ending. Plus I would really enjoy a short story with this crazy family during the birth of Maxx's baby and maybe a year after it's born.

C.J. didn't want the life forced upon him by his parents so he left everything behind and left to find himself. What he found was friends who were more like family than he ever expected a job he actually kina enjoys, and Erin a woman who is his match.
Erin has a past and it's one that has left with a f*** em and leave em mentality , but when it comes to C.J. she just can't seem to stay away.
When they come together it's hot and explosive. They fight and f*** like there's no tomorrow, but the secrets between them keep them from truely letting each other in.
C.J. is cocky and smart and when he wants something he goes after it.
Erin has a mouth on her that would make a sailor proud. She fights just for the fun of it, but it also helps keep herself locked away from emotions she doesn't want to feel.

What we also found with Callous is the uniqueness of it. Never have we read a story where the characters actually speak to you about what they are thinking (you need to read it to understand).
It was simply amazing to not only hear Erin and C.J’s story, but to also know what they were thinking in the moment.
