Lynn Krier is loud, unhinged, impossible to tame, and the last thing I should want. She is the needle already buried deep in my vein. Nothing more than a bad habit. But she’s a walking temptation I tell myself to stay away from, and the chaos and reckless smile that comes with it. I shouldn’t let her crawl under my skin, but she manages to crack my control and spike my pulse every time she looks at me with those wicked eyes. All I want to do is ruin her, drag her somewhere, and break her. Make her scream my name until she forgets her own. I’m not a good man. I’m not a hero. I’ve got blood on my hands, created by broken rules, fists, and a past that won’t stay buried, and Lynn—the Hellcat? She doesn’t give a shit. She keeps coming closer, loves to poke the beast, and finds out how savage I can be to keep what’s mine.
Lynn
Jace Davenport is silent as stone, twice as hard, and colder than a frozen lake. A man out of ice, but he burns me alive. He thinks he scares me off with his icy, deadly glare, but he’s wrong. Chaos and cold don’t scare me—I thrive in it. He’s a challenge I can’t resist conquering. Every pissed-off growl makes me grin. Every shove makes me push back harder. And every time he tells me he doesn’t want me, his hands tell a different story when he leaves bruises on my skin like signatures. He may call me trouble, but he’s the storm. Every touch is a bruise, every kiss a threat, and I want more. I want him to lose control and tear me apart until I’m nothing but a trembling confession in his hands. My goal is to make him snap, to teach me exactly where to hit when I decide to break his ice and make him mine.
He’s ice. I’m chaos. Together, we’re a dirty disaster waiting to happen.
Devon R. Kane is a dark romance author from the north of Luxembourg, striving to write stories that are as addictive as her favorite games, Call of Duty, and Love and Deepspace. When she's not deep in the world of twisted plots and complex characters, she's juggling life as a cat mom, always exploring new foods, fangirling over fictional men, and enjoying movie or game nights with her friends. As a fan of travel, good dark romance books, and laughter, she hopes to keep readers up all night, glued to the page, and maybe even question their taste in fictional heroes and morally gray men. Her stories blend the thrill of suspense with the touch of dark romance—and always with a side of fun.
I am still reeling from that final twist—I can’t believe the author just dropped that bomb and ended the book! It was a total shock to the system.
That being said, I absolutely loved every second of this novella. It’s rare to find a shorter read that feels this well-developed; the pacing was flawless, balancing high-octane drama and character growth without ever feeling rushed. The heat and humor were dialed up to eleven, and the plot flowed perfectly.
Lynn is exactly my kind of FMC. She’s loud, stubborn, and completely unfiltered—basically a nightmare for anyone trying to maintain order, and I lived for it. She knows exactly how to push people's buttons, especially when it comes to Jace. Watching her chip away at his cold, mysterious exterior was incredibly satisfying. He’s such a dark, "brick wall" of a character, but the tension between them is undeniable.
The banter between these two is easily my favorite part. They are both beautifully unhinged and chaotic, making them my top-tier couple from this author so far. If you haven't started this series yet, definitely grab Kronological Obsession first so you have the full backstory. I’m already desperate for the next installment in this world!

WELL THEN. THAT ENDING JUST GAVE ME WHIPLASH. Devon just blindsided me with some new information. LIKE WHAT?! HOW ARE YOU GOING TO JUST DROP THAT TIDBIT AND THEN WALK AWAY LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED.
Okay, let me calm down. I LOVED this. I was so happy to be back with these characters and world. This novella was the perfect length with so much happening and not once did I feel like it was rushed. There was intensity, suspense, drama, spice, humor, growth. The plot was written so well and flowed with ease. Lynn is feisty, stubborn, loud mouthed, no filter, get under your skin type of woman. And I AM HERE FOR IT. She doesn’t give a flying fuck about consequences. She knows how to push your buttons to get what she wants. And she does it with a smirk. JACE. Holy hot hell, Jace. I mean who wouldn’t want to crack open that broody, dark, mysterious, ice cold man. He’s a cage that can’t be broken but all you want to do is pick the lock and see what’s hiding inside of it—and Lynn seems to be a master locksmith in secret. The chemistry and banter between Jace and Lynn had me DYING. Their sarcastic comments, their humor, their tension—absolute 100% •chefs kiss•. I flew through this and obviously I wished there was more to it. I didn’t want to put this down. Jace and Lynn are probably my favorite so far from the author. They’re both unhinged, unapologetic, and completely chaotic. Highly recommend reading this but also recommend reading “Kronological Obsession” first to get a backstory. You won’t be disappointed. I can’t wait to hopefully read more from Devon about this world and these characters.

My jaw is still on the floor. Devon, explain yourself! I’m actually reeling. How can a novella be this short but pack such a massive punch? I was cruising through the chaos, loving every second of it, and then BAM—that ending happened. I feel like I’ve been blindsided in the best (and most frustrating) way possible. I need the next book like yesterday. Lynn is 100% my spirit animal. She’s loud, completely unfiltered, and has this "zero fucks given" attitude that just makes her a chaotic masterpiece. Watching her poke the bear—or in this case, the absolute brick wall that is Jace—was pure entertainment. Jace is so dark, broody, and seemingly untouchable, but the way Lynn just picks at his lock until he cracks? The tension was insane. Their banter is easily some of the best I’ve read lately. They are both so beautifully unhinged and unapologetic about who they are. Honestly, they’ve officially claimed the top spot as my favorite couple from Devon R. Kane. Even though it’s a novella, the pacing was spot on. It didn't feel like a "filler" story at all—it was packed with suspense, growth, and enough spice to melt my Kindle. If you haven’t started this series yet, do yourself a favor and go read Kronological Obsession first for the context, then dive straight into this. You won’t regret it, but you WILL be left screaming at your screen by the final page.
Lynn is unapologetic, unhinged, and a total chaotic force—the ultimate challenge for anyone trying to maintain order. It was pure entertainment watching her "poke the beast," relentlessly chipping away at Jace’s stone-cold exterior.
Jace is a dark, broody wall of a man who thinks his deadly glare can freeze her out, but Lynn thrives in the cold. She is the persistent crack in his armor, chipping away at his reinforced resolve until his stone-cold control finally crumbles.
Their chemistry is a dirty disaster, fueled by tension and banter that is absolute perfection—I couldn’t put it down! If you’re new to this world, start with Kronological Obsession for the backstory before diving in. You won't be disappointed, but consider yourself warned: you will be left floored by that final page.
