Details are off - 11 months since the divorce but 7 months since Charlotte found out about her husbands pregnant mistress.
Making bread vs making pasta. Getting dropped off vs driving.
The deaths of miles parents that happened years ago but he just resigned his job because his parents died 3 months ago. But then he didn’t resign- he was just taking time off.
No pregnancy. Miles doesn’t disappear.
Sad part is that this book has some really cute dialogue and cute moments.
…doesn’t match the book. Significant things mentioned in the blurb don’t happen in the book. Timelines and ages also don’t match. The story itself could have been so good (for example if the things said in the blurb actually happened) but the deficiencies were glaring and made it a really frustrating read for me.
The second book in this series was a distinct departure from the first, with the exception of Miles Cameron, who featured significantly in With You. I honestly hoped to see more of a carry over, but there are bits and pieces that hint at some of the previous book.
The biggest topic here is the devastating medical challenge that beset Miles, and secondly, the possibilities of an old love. It is sad, yet hopeful. Tense, but sweet. A love that transcends the present day, with young love that holds on for many years.
But there are many details of Miles’s journey that are heartbreaking and perhaps might trigger some. But it is so gratifying to see how Miles and Charlotte handle everything thrown their way with love and humor.
it was a good book, but the description is misleading. There are a few mistakes, where the author will say, she went somewhere with somebody and when she goes to leave, her car is there. Minor but still not written well. Also half the description doesn’t happen in the book, so while the book ends, your left hanging. Her first book was well written, but because of this I’m not going onto the next one in the series. The description definitely needs to be changed. While there is a HEA., it’s a different story from the description.
This was a second chance love story. It isn’t a easy story but a story of resilience, forgiveness, determination and love The author did a great job describing some of the symptoms and challenges that a person with a debilitating condition has and how a caregiver can help them overcome their fears and live again, find laughter again and hope. Harper you penned a lovely story and one I won’t forget anytime soon. Thank you
there’s quite a few inconsistencies in the timeline and especially the blurb like others have mentioned. the timeline is hard to follow and i kept having to read back to see if i missed something along the way but that wasn’t the case. it could be a really great book otherwise but i had to force myself to finish it and i only did because i was waiting for the part mentioned in the description which never happened.
A wonderful story which is its saving grace why I gave it five stars. Its downfall? The book was TOO short, as was the first one. Short stories that are more like novellas, are the bane of my existence. I try to avoid them like the plague. I don't ask for lengthy novels, such as Stephen King's "The Stand," Michener's "Centennial," or Gabaldon's time travel series. But something in between is nice. Just sayin'.
These are not anatomy lesson romance books. They’re about the relationship and how hard life can be sometimes. Did I want the miracle to show up? Yes. Did it? No. But something even better was there. No misunderstandings. Great story telling. A must read for anyone who’s married especially if things are tough sometimes. These two are brilliantly written.
I’m not saying this is a bad book I’m just very confused :( why would you write a blurb stating very specific events that don’t even happen in the book?? I find that extremely strange. I kept waiting for it to happen which actually ruined the book for me. I strongly suggest editing your blurb to keep it true to the story.
3 stars I loved their witty banter. But book 1 was much more engaging. I know this is Miles, the attorney from the first book. But not even a single word about the main characters from that one. It was a nice and easy read about a difficult medical diagnosis. But endlessly rehashing a lost 15 years got tiring.
It was an enjoyable book, but one distraction for me was when her friend Beth drove them to the class reunion, talked in the car, walked in together, but then at the end of the night she drove her own car home? Sometimes it’s just the little things that make a book not the best. Details matter.
Just because you say “I love you” don't mean you do. Words are nothing without sacrificing your time, efforts and being present. Amazing story and great read.
2.5 stars. Had potential. Now that I think of it, I think this was written by AI or the author needs an editor. Nothing written in the blurd is in the book. Their 35 yrs going to a 15 yr high school reunion. She graduated on time. The math ain't mathing.
Good story but in the about section it talks about how she got pregnant and he disappeared to a facility and was in a wheelchair but none of that happened I the story. I kept waiting for it and it never happened….
The dialogue was good and was the strongest part of the book. However, too many loose ends, too many peripheral characters who didn't move the story line along, and just not enough movement for the main characters. Every time a problem developed, even major ones, just wait a chapter and ... poof ... all better. Also, the chronic conditions weren't really dealt with. For five years, this guy never thought to maybe use his other hand to pick up his coffee cup? A book version of a nice nap -- not unpleasant, but not very productive, either.
Finally a book that incorporates realism with an onset illness. Life is not always perfect… and love it how they overcomes those obstacles to reach for their happiness.
Miles and Charlotte story took me on a rollercoaster full of emotions. From happiness they found each other again. To his diagnosis and finally to their happily ever after.
