Blood Encrypted: A Holy Love Age-Gap Slow-Burn Vampire Romance

Rate this book
Fifteen centuries of solitude have turned Seraphine into ice.
The ancient Roman vampire no longer feels anything—not guilt, not longing, not even the old hunger. She is precision a hunter of shadows, a collector of encrypted secrets, a woman who has outlived every empire and every attachment. Love, family, warmth—these are relics she buried under the ruins of Rome.
Then the trail leads her to Chinatown.
To Octavia, the sister she chased for five hundred years.
And to Maya, half-human, half-vampire. Maya is everything Seraphine forgot alive, laughing, fragile, radiant. Dimples when she smiles. A heartbeat Seraphine can hear across the room. A warmth that seeps through fifteen hundred years of frost.
Seraphine came to reclaim her sister.
She never expected to find something that could thaw her.
What began as a chase across centuries became a quiet instead of possession, domination, or heat, Seraphine discovered heart — and a sacred love so reverent it made her feel human again.
In Maya’s presence, eternity stopped being a sentence.
It became a prayer.

About the author

V. Dalmatina

V. Dalmatina writes Holy Love — sapphic romances where love is sacred, healing, and deeply earned.

Her stories span multiple worlds: tender contemporary romances set in sun-drenched Dalmatia, dark portal romantasy, vampire and werewolf tales, and historical romances. All are united by emotionally mature women, profound vulnerability, honest intimacy, and soul-deep connection. Whether across lifetimes through reincarnation and karmic bonds, or in this one fragile life, her heroines choose each other with courage after facing their scars. There is no toxicity for the sake of drama — only genuine HEAs, because wounded souls deserve real love and soft landings.

For thirteen years, she worked as an officer on luxury mega-yachts, circumnavigating the globe. Today she lives with her wife on a quiet Dalmatian island in Croatia, surrounded by the sea and stone that raised her. English is not her first language, and she lives with dyslexia and dysgraphia, yet she writes every story from lived emotional truth. Her interconnected universes — Heart, Afterbite, Crimson Bloom Chronicles, and others — are built slowly, honestly, and with care.

This is her sanctuary. She invites you to step inside.

If you expect a typical vampire in the Afterbite series, you will not find one. This series finally got a vampire searching for her humanity. Seraphine is ancient, powerful, and so vulnerable because she is lonely and has lost her heart. Enter Maya, an ancient hybrid in need of vampire blood, and bam, we have a beautiful romance. Hope the rest of the books in the series are as good as this one.

I really loved Seraphine and Maya’s story. Although this book is not as polished as books 4, 5, 6, and 7, you can already feel the shift from the classic, repetitive vampire genre to something more. This is not a sugar-coated story about vampires being good or anything similar, but about vampires who can change their nature in the most interesting way, thanks to love. Most of the time, book quality declines with rapid releases. Dalmatina is interesting because she is obviously doing something right, and each new book is something more. I noticed a similar thing in her series, the Crimson Bloom Chronicles, and this could be a good thing in the long run if she continues to grow with each new story.

Ice queen vampires are my favourite plus age gaps which considering one MC is 1500 makes this a mammoth age gap book.

Seraphine was born in the Roman Empire so has been around for yonks.

Maya had only been around 300+ years and is the step-daughter of Octavia who is Seraphibe’s sister but they haven’t sent each other for centuries.

Maya and her mum are from Dalmatia.

Looking forward to reading more of this series. This book is a good opener with interesting characters.

A vampire story without a toxic Gothic-like love story, focusing on feelings and mutual understanding between heroines. This is a niche within a niche, and I love it because it redefines what a vampire story can be. It might not appeal to everyone, but I enjoyed it and plan to read the rest of the series. I especially love both Seraphine and Maya, particularly their first date.

Blood Encrypted by V. Dalmatina was definitely not the typical Sapphic vampire romance. That being said it was wonderful. Kudos for unexpected shifts and turns for both this reader and the characters. Looking for something believing it isn’t there or possible creates angst that is not easily navigated. This book embraces characters challenges and stays seeking resolution and solutions. It is an amazing read that will grab your heart and run your emotions and for myself it was a wonderful journey. I worked at finding a way to review this adventure without any spoilers. So, if you are the least but curious please believe this grateful reader it is worth the read. Wonderful setting, characters and story line. I was provided a copy of this book by the author without further expectations. I won there and hope you find reading it as incredible as I have.
