Möbius

Rate this book
First, Evan learned that the toy starship wasn't really a toy. In fact, it allowed him to travel to another galaxy, where he watched the fleets of two galactic empires clash…before coming for him.

Then, he learned he's not the only human who knows about the starship or its capabilities…and they're coming for him, too.

Now, he's trapped a billion light years from home, in a ship he barely knows how to fly, hunted by a starship that defies imagination. The Möbius—a twisted ring of ancient technology whose weapons don't just obliterate targets, they erase them from existence.

And Evan may be next.

An excellent sequel.
The plot has progressed to a point I couldn’t even suspect or imagine, so good the story was. The nerve-wracking feeling never left me, potent, action filled scenes, so immersive is the story.
Can’t wait for book-3!

I highly recommend this fantastic series

Loved it

I thought book 1 was good, a twist on your typical "I found a ship" or "I was taken to a galaxy far away".

The 2nd book has developed Evan as a character and kept up the action.

Looking forward to more in this series.

excellent and exciting story

Well written and gripping start to finish. Enjoyed the characters. The good guys are. The bad guys are callously ambitious vs evil. Look forward to the next series of cliffhanger chapters with mysterious endings. Glad to hear the third book is in the works.

Well-written scifi

Michael Forbes writes well, and has created an interesting story regarding what is obviously not a toy starship and a Marine suffering from PTSD.

It’s flawed, however, in that as the story about the starship increases, the protagonist’s personal story decreases— his strained relationship with his nephew disappears from the narrative (at one point the nephew is even referred to as his niece), to the detriment of the books.

[There’re a few minor problems with the author’s writing about the military as well— the protagonist calling his former Staff Sergeant “Sarge”, for example. No Marine would refer to a Staff Sergeant as “sarge”— that’s something that the Army might do, but not Marines. At most, he might be called “Staff”, but even that’s unlikely. There are some other examples of jargon that doesn’t quite fit; this is the most repeated example.

Still, the story remains very readable— this is the second book of what appears to be a trilogy, and I expect to read book three as well.

Encore!!

Was wondering how Forbes would follow up the first book and found if to be outstanding! This is an edge of your seat story that is hard to put down. Looking forward to the next one.

Outstanding!

Where or how did you come up with this story. A dream, perhaps? I've been reading sci-fi all my life and I've never imagined a space thriller like this one!
Outstanding!

Good continuation of a war tale with a few twist

A marine buys a toy and finds his life changed for ever.
He discovers that aliens are real and want his toy to change the balance of power in several galaxies. Would make a great movie. 😁

Good fights

No matter how you view it this piece has a particularly good sense of what's happening in the background during multi-ship battles very very good idea to watch it and see how to write multi-ship battles

You can run but you can't hide! And then...!

Evan Marshall has never been more surprised than when face to face with one of the most powerful leaders of the three intergalactic "mafia like" groups hunting him!

Mobius (Toy Starship Book 2)

The second one better then the first, but still a bit slow inplaces. Not sure if I would want to read further books in this vein.

A very worthy follow-on to the first book in this new series. I'm looking forward to Part 3 which comes out next week. While I am waiting I have started M.R. Forbes' "The Starship in the Stone."

Toys can pack a punch more ways than one!

Forbes at his best. A space opera that combines damaged underdogs, friends, family, and raw human emotion. Definitely worth your time.
