I needed this today. In fact, I've needed this for a long time. This book reveals every mother's inner most feelings that she fears to let loose from her lips - painful, untrue feelings of failure. We've all been there at some time or other, and without a release, some of us end up drowning in it. This book is the lifesaver thrown out to those of us drowning that leads us to the Boat and it's Captain - the real Savior.

In addition to dealing with the conflicting feelings of being overwhelmed yet the desperate need to do more for our children and family, the authors include chapters devoted to other relevant topics that can also pull us down. Loneliness and loss of children are covered in heartbreaking details.

This book is incredibly easy to read, motivational, and most importantly, Christ-centered. I would definitely recommend this book to all mothers.

This book was describing exactly how I feel in this moment of motherhood. I feel exhausted, unmotivated, stressed, and hopeless as I raise my two year old and five month old sons. These women were able to put into words everything I've been feeling and wanting to say myself. I just couldn't have said it as eloquently as they have.

I would recommend this book to any mom who feels like she's the only one who doesn't have her life and family together. For any mom who looks at her friend or neighbor and thinks they have a neat and tidy household and family. Because the truth of this book is, we're all trying to show the best version of ourselves to outsiders when we're really feeling like we're about to drop all the plates we have spinning in the air.

I was very encouraged by what these women had to say, and I'm so grateful to them for opening my eyes to the other struggling moms out there.

The fact of the matter is, you are not going to be drawn to this book if you are a)not a mother or b)not a Christian. So, if those things don't apply to you, keep on walking.
If those things do apply to you, please take the time to read this wonderful little book full of hope and inspiration. Especially if you are feeling down on yourself and thinking you're not doing a good enough job. There are points where it gets a tad bit preachy and I found myself not necessarily agreeing with the advice given (such as the implication that you should only seek out Christian friendships), but anything religious in nature tends to run that danger. Overall though, this is an amazing resource and I highly, highly recommend it.

Loved this book! So much encouragement that I couldn't put it down! Stacey and Brooke bear their souls and in doing so help all of us moms to realize that it's okay to admit we don't have it all together.

I really needed to come across this book when I did. It gave me a new perspective, and as the title states, it really did give me some hope. Stacey Thacker and Brooke McGlothlin discuss how we as parents should be more open with our "messes" and our failures. It allows for us to actually become closer to other parents, because many of them have gone through the same things, and also feel shame about them. Opening up about our struggles - the days we've yelled at our children, the days we feel like we just want to give up, etc. - allows us to realize what we need to change in ourselves, which is where the Godly perspective comes in of allowing Him to help us with our issues.

"The best way you can encourage other moms to get real about their messes is by getting real about yours."

Any mother (or father, really) who believes in God, and is feeling hopeless, worn down, or even like giving up, should read this book. I truly believe it will bring you some inspiration.

There is a specific audience this book is marketed to: Christian moms/soon to be moms.

There is a subset that would probably enjoy this book more than everyone else, but isn't necessary to take something from the book: Christian moms of boys.

I fall into the first audience. I have a little girl. I enjoyed this book for the voice, the encouragement that I'm not alone when I can't be supermom, and the advice that always falls back to one thing: God.

Now I don't presume to know the exact words Jesus is saying (according to Brooke he's southern) but the message is all the same.

Recommended? Absolutely. What I would spend on it: 3.00

This was a great book. Excellent for a mom who needs a pick-me-up. This book covers everything from significant losses (such as miscarriage or family death) to the everyday grind. I found it helpful, hopeful, and inspiring. There are a few grammatical errors, so I removed a star, as parts I had to re-read to comprehend what was going on. Perhaps it was only the Kindle edition that had those issues? Other than that, EXCELLENT book and I will be happy to read anything else she writes in the future.

This book entered my life at exactly the right season. I've been beating myself up for awhile now, not feeling like I had enough to give to my family, my husband, and definitely nothing left for myself. This was a quick, easy read, uplifting & honest & encouraged me to keep putting one foot in front of the other.

This is a book I'm sure I will find myself rereading again and again. I didn't read it straight through, but slowly, letting their encouragement and words of wisdom sink in over time. It is a refreshing book and a great reminder that I'm not alone in the hardships of parenting. Would definitely recommend it.

Short but covers a lot of 'weary mom' topics. Sometimes the writing seems a little elementary, but if you are a mom who has ever thought of running away of thought you just might not make it through the day let alone the next minute, you should check it out!
The authors are also bloggers one at MOD Squad (Mother of Daughters) and MOB Society (Mother of Boys). Give it a google and check it out!

Wow! I thought this book was great. It brought me to tears almost every chapter because it was EXACTLY where I was! I wouldn't have called myself weary more of "just getting by" but wow I am weary and this book was such an encouragement and reminder that God can be my rest and will meet me here where I am.

A short & sweet read to inspire and encourage moms. The authors include personal stories and scriptures. This would be a good group read and every chapter includes discussion questions to facilitate that.

This was an easy read that I couldn't seem to put down. It was definitely refreshing to read about other moms who are "just like me". I would recommend this book to any mom who has ever felt like she just couldn't handle the crazy anymore. I laughed and I cried and I found encouragement.

I had been hoping for a little further guidance, but I did find this book to be valuable. Quite a few times, the passages really jumped out at me. Now if only I can practice some of their suggestions and thereby become a less-weary mom!

"Lord, I’m dry. Empty. Hit the wall. I got nothing.
I just thought I’d let you know. But then again, You already do."
- Introduction of Hope for the Weary Mom

I recently purchased a digital copy of Hope for the Weary Mom By: Stacey Thacker and Brooke McGlothlin. I would just like to say that I did purchase this book and I am in no way being reimbursed for my review here. Now that I've got that out of the way, I have to say that I LOVE this book. Not only do I love this book, but this is probably one of the most helpful books (other than the Bible, of course) that I've read since becoming a mom. I feel almost silly for saying that I'm a weary Mom, especially since I am a Mom of one child, under one, but here it goes. I AM A WEARY MOM, AND A WEARY WIFE. Although those are two of my favorite titles, ever, I am not too proud to admit that I'm weary. Working full time, trying to manage a home, and helping to raise a child is exhausting. My heart was encouraged, and I truly felt loved on by reading this book.

Stacey and Brooke have such an honest approach to how it feels to be weary and they let you know it's OK to feel this way. Being a mom and/or wife, is a tough job, whether you're working or blessed enough to be a stay-at-home mom/wife. (I say blessed, because my heart yearns to be a SAHM. Please pray with me that the Lord will allow that to happen soon!) Ofren times, we women get down or discouraged about our roles in life, at least I do. The wonderful thing is that God doesn't expect us to be perfect, or Wonder Woman, for that matter. God has told us over and over again in His Word, that His strength and grace are more than enough to handle any situation. Below are a few of my favorite references:
"My grace is sufficient for thee: for MY strength is made perfect in weakness" 2 Cor. 12:9
"My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart" Ps. 73:26
"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." Ps. 46:1

I was formerly introduced to the writings of Brooke McGlothlin through her book Praying for Boys (find my review here). That book was also a huge help to me, and will continue to be a help to me as my baby man grows up (and if we have another boy at some point down the road). This was, however, my first time reading anything by Stacey Thacker and I found her writings to be just as helpful and heartfelt as Brooke's. The book is about evenly split between the two of them, with each one writing their own chapters. Each chapter ends with some discussion questions (similar to Praying for Boys). These questions were sometimes hard to answer, but I made a point to actually print that page of the book (which was easy, since it was a digital copy in PDF form) and write out the answer to each question. I found that answering those questions on paper actually helped me apply what I was reading to my heart. This book also has a list of resources for moms, like Facebook pages and blogs to follow that are also pretty awesome. Just a note though, some of the links are old and don't open (sad day!)

I could go on and on about this book, but my point would still be the same, READ THIS BOOK. I also loved the manifesto (or vow) at the end of the book and I am copying it here for you all to keep my accountable.

The Weary Mom Manifesto
“I believe God’s plans for me are good. Therefore, I commit today that I will never
give up on my family, and I will never give up on God’s ability to move in their
hearts. With His help, I will take the next step of faith even when I feel I can’t,
because He is the God of miracles.”

My Review:
Sometimes after a very hard day with my children in particular, I just think to myself--where is God in this? I'm tired and parched and He seems to be no where around. But blessedly, He is there, He is always there. Just when we think He maybe MIA--that's when we are pleasantly surprised by a Father that reassures us of our place in His family.

Practically speaking there are many times as a mom that you want to run and hide, especially if you have very young children and maybe your husband isn't there to help a lot of the times. I know I have tried many things in the book in the past and the authors touched on these in the book. These suggestions really will work, especially if you aren't able to leave your kids at any given time. Get outside is a good suggestion. Get the kids bundled up and head outdoors for some fresh air.

Turn on some music and try to slow dance with your babies. They could probably use some close time with mom and seeing her relaxed could do their hearts good, as well. The authors give you several suggestions on how to unwind while you still have the children with you--so even you moms out there that have to hold down the fort alone have options.

This book is a great book full of tons of information that can help any weary mom on any given day. The authors share a few lessons from their parenting to help us all look all the resistance and tiredness straight in the eyes and fight back instead of retreating to the nearest corner.

**Disclosure** This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from Harvest House.

I first heard about this book because my friend Jessica Wolstenholm over at The Pregnancy Companion mentioned Brooke McGlothlin’s FB site – The M.O.B. Society (Mothers of Boys). I went to check out the FB page and ended up on The M.O.B. Society’s website.

What an awesome resource for moms of boys! I have really enjoyed the blog there. It’s brought such encouragement and humor.. And trust me that is needed as motherhood can sometimes seem like a totally thankless and frustrating job!

This e-book is powerful. It is overflowing with words of life for struggling moms. I quickly personally identified with everything the authors were saying. I was so glad that as Christian women they are able to admit weaknesses, failures and be completely open about their need to be dependent on God daily. Knowing that I’m not alone in feeling weary was also very encouraging.!

Right now in this season with my two boys, 5 and 3, I desperately want to see their heart attitudes be changed and shaped and molded. And that is not and easy task! Some of the quotes from the book about this topic really impacted me:

“I’ve screamed, berated, begged, shamed, cried, disciplined, prayed, threatened…all in the name of change.”

“Why is it that love given freely, washed over someone with reckless abandon, does more to change the heart than begging and pleading?”

“But it’s the kindness of God that leads me to repentance, so why shouldn’t it work the same way for them? [her sons] If we’ve been loved into repentance by God, should any other attempt to change hearts not fall short?”

This book is a must-read for moms! I’ll definitely be coming back to it for encouragement and great reminders of what I want my heart and mind to look like in relation to parenting my boys. I’m really thankful for the ministry that God has given Brooke and Stacey and I will definitely be reading more of the resources they produce!

I'm not going to rate this book. I read it, because it was a freebie and because it was recommended to me by another mom, but I just don't think it's a book I particularly needed. The authors describe feeling worn down, exhausted, and completely poured out by caring for their young children. There are things in my life that make me feel that way, but parenthood isn't one of them. I just couldn't really identify. In the end, I skimmed large chunks of the book just to see if anything interesting popped up, but nothing ever really did.

If you are a mom who feels that way, well, maybe this is a book for you. And your fellow moms in the book club, I guess, because there are study questions at the end of each chapter, which made for a really strange read. I wasn't expecting a workbook.

Again, I won't rate the book because I just don't feel like I was the intended audience.

This short ebook is a compilation of expanded blog posts that speak to those moment in motherhood where you want to throw in the towel. The best part of this book was the 'me too' factor; sometimes you just need to know that you're not the only one. Each chapter focuses on an element of exhausted motherhood, and then, using Scripture, turns around and talks about what God says about these spots, and how we can face our feelings in a godly way.

This is one of the best books I have every read for moms struggling to make it through every day life and all of the challenges that we face. It is fairly short, witty, touching and hit me exactly where I needed it. I highly recommend this to any mom with young kids who finds herself feeling weary either occasionally or all the time.

Loved Loved this book. Being a stepmom to a teen is very difficult. Sometimes it is so tiring that I cannot help but being weary. I am grateful for both of the authors in how they encouraged me! This is a book worth picking up. It reminded me of how my eyes need to be directed to him. Yes, Redirected to Christ. No matter what is going on. No matter how tired you.

It amazes me how a blog can turn into a book! I especially love the hearts placed into this book of emotions, situations not commonly shared, and encouragement to seek others to meet you where you're at. Check out my book review:
