JC lives in the south of England and spends the free hours of each day reading, writing, and indulging various other hobbies, in the company of Tuna the cat. JC has been writing for several years now, and refuses to acknowledge proper house attire, or people who say things like, "When are you getting a real job?" and, "Can I be in your next book?"
This was a fun piece of fluff after reading a couple of rough books. Terry Reeves is a reporter for The Paranormal Times with a homophobic boss that hates him. He is given the task of finding and interviewing the vigilante angel Aiden in seven days or he's fired. Terry manages to track Aiden to where he was last seen but no one will talk about the angel. Terry is kicked out of the bar and is set upon by a group of weres when Aiden swoops in and saves him. Terry takes the tired angel back to his apartment to try to interview him but winds up falling for Aiden instead. The book was well put together and Ms Holly kept the action going by adding some bad guys and a plot twist or two. I enjoyed both Terry and Aiden and found both characters likeable and funny. The sex was hot and there was plenty of it in this short story. The ending was a little bit of a let down, almost like Ms Holly couldn't think of any good way to end the story. All totaled, this book is a sweet, light read with a HEA.
Reviewed by Stacey Jo: Terry Reeves is a reporter of the paranormal and just about to lose his job. His belligerent boss has informed him that if he doesn't get an interview with Aiden, a supposed angel, he's fired. Terry sweet talks his way into the bar, which is the last place that Aiden was seen. While snooping around back, where Aiden is known to hang out, Terry runs into a bit of trouble that requires Aiden's help to get him out alive. Because Aiden saved Terry's life, and the affects of those actions, Terry brings Aiden back to his home where some sparks fly. Terry is not quite sure how to go about getting the information he needs for the article and at this point, is starting to question the ethics of what he's doing. He really likes this guy.
Throw in some blackmail, some vampires, weres, the lover who finds out he's being used, and there is quite a lot of action packed into the seventy-eight pages of this book. It's not overdone though. It's not a major mystery but you do get to try and guess who hired the bad guys . The real bonus, if you are so inclined, is that Aiden and Terry enjoy a bit of bondage.
I found the story to be well-written. For as short as it is, it was developed well. I liked the characters and liked them together. It's not so much dealing with angles and other paranormal beings who are in the story as it is focusing on Terry's issues with his work so if you are looking for a story that focuses more on the angels themselves, this isn't it. But for what this story is, it was a nice short mystery with some bondage and hot sex.
I loved the concept that the author was going with this. An Angel that acted like anything but an Angel. He reminded me of the bad boy cops on the shows I’m addicted to, you can’t help but love how good they are at being bad but in the end you know they will do what’s right. Except the author took it a step further and did this with an Angel.
The problem became the fact that the author didn’t stick with this plot and truly develop it, instead we get caught up in many different faucets of plots.
The story isn’t all bad, like I said the concept is pretty interesting and despite the sex being strange it is rather hot. I just wouldn’t suggest this book if your looking for a serious romance or serious anything. However I still found it enjoyable.
The problem became the fact that the author didn’t stick with this plot and truly develop it, instead we get caught up in many different faucets of plots. I went from reading about a homophobic jerk of a boss that won’t lay off the whiney but lovable Terry to there suddenly dealing with an evil vampire. I could have worked with that but the added bits of BDSM threw me for a loop. There just wasn’t enough character build up for me to really see an Angel getting it busy the very first night he meets this guy or the whole him making Terry his “slave”.
Great sexy paranormal read. This is the first time I've ever read anything with angels in it, but I was pleasantly surprised. I adored both characters.
