Rate this book
Mark challenges the reader to believe in the mystery of God--that even through difficult times, God reigns. Mark's Gospel carries the reader from the desert wilderness to Jerusalem, and from the crisis of the cross to the victory of the empty tomb.

Interpretation Bible Studies (IBS) offers solid biblical content in a creative study format. Forged in the tradition of the celebrated Interpretation commentary series, IBS makes the same depth of biblical insight available in a dynamic, flexible, and user-friendly resource. Designed for adults and older youth, IBS can be used in small groups, in church school classes, in large group presentations, or in personal study.

"Mark is calling for a church that appreciates the inherently incomplete nature of the Gospel story, a community of disciples that will deny itself, pick up it's cross, and risk finishing the story."

This was such a good book for taking things deeper, making you really think, not just about the book of Mark, but in how you fit in the Gospel story.

A good/solid Bible Study/Sunday School resource for Lectionary Year B. if your group is finding too many shallow or "lite" studies, give Interpretation Bible Studies a try.

Some points that felt theologically shaky but overall a very thought-provoking volume with interesting and informative background and good discussion questions.
