Very curious to read this, but also a bit scared. Allegiant traumatized me back in the day with that ending… and then the "We Can Be Mended" novella made it worse.

So the real question is: Is she going to kill Tris again?

And am I ready to go through that kind of emotional damage one more time?

I swore I would never read another book by Veronica Roth, and I didn’t… but this is Divergent-related, so here I am 💀

• It is the first book in a planned duology.
• The society still has five factions: Abnegation, Erudite, Dauntless, Amity, and Candor. The “sixth” usually refers to the Divergent or the Factionless, who exist outside the system.

I read the article where Roth sat down for an interview about her thought process behind this new alternate-universe Divergent duology, and let me tell you, it made me want to check her other works.

There’s so much honesty and vulnerability, and even though a cynic would argue it’s all part of the duology’s marketing campaign, the message lands all the same.

I only read the first book of the original series (I didn’t dare see for myself why the popular recommendation back then was to stop while you were at it), and I’m excited to see where she takes the story now that she’s revived her love for the characters and the world and grown as an author.
