An elf warrior's love for a human can only end in blood.
With magical creatures being hunted for their blood, Wundor is forced to hide their world from the humans. But even that does not stop the killings. A half-elf Guardian, Luca, has vowed to protect the realm. He should be hunting predators, but soon finds himself distracted by a moral dilemma that could change his fate forever and risk lives across the realm. Falling in love with a human is forbidden. To do so is to be put to death with the enemy. But it's exactly what Luca has done. When Zara, a human woman's life is threatened, he faces an impossible choice. Leave her to die, or carry her into the rift to a world where her being human could mean a death sentence for them both.

2.25 / 2.5 ⭐️ I wasn’t a big fan of Luca. I think he was very overwhelmed by his own emotions, which is why he kept going back and forth about his feelings. That wasn’t fair towards Zara, because she was 100% committed from beginning to end. The plot felt a bit all over the place. I did enjoy the journey and found it interesting, but I just didn’t see a clear red thread throughout the book.
