When an NFL superstar hears a small-town bartender sing karaoke, he’s hooked at first note. Too bad she has no idea who he is — and even less interest in finding out.
Karaoke at the Bootlegger bar isn’t exactly a record deal, but it’s a start. I don’t sing for the crowd. I sing because one day I’m going to write songs the whole world hears.
Instead, I catch the attention of a six-foot-two running back with dimples, swagger, and a name sports fans chant on Sundays.
Everyone else recognizes Gage Edwards instantly.
I don’t.
And even after I find out he’s a professional football player in town for training camp, I still don’t care.
Fame doesn’t impress me. Big muscles don’t sway me. And I definitely don’t have time for a man who’ll be gone when summer ends. I have three siblings I’m helping to raise, a mom who depends on me, and exactly zero extra hours for a summer fling — no matter how tempting his dimpled smile (or those sinful hands) might be.
But Gage doesn’t walk away.
He shows up. For me. For my family. For my music.
He says he wants to be on my team.
Funny. I don’t remember posting an opening for a starting position.
On Her Team is a spicy small-town sports romance featuring a determined NFL running back who falls first and falls hard, a fiercely loyal heroine torn between family and her dreams, and a small town full of football players who are as big a handful off the field as they are on the field.
Training camp brings all the Steel City Seals to Smuggler’s Hideaway at once, which means overlapping timelines, familiar faces, and football-player chaos. Read in any order.
D.E. Haggerty writes funny, heartfelt small-town romances filled with quirky communities, lovable chaos, and unforgettable happily-ever-afters. Her books give readers a joyful escape into charming towns they never want to leave. Originally from the United States, she now lives in the Netherlands with her husband and far too many book ideas.
Absolutely loved Gage and Addy. These 2 were hilarious 😂 A true romance with all the small town vibes and brilliant, fun dialogue. You are never let down by this author. Always an uplifting reads, even though sensitive topics are discussed. If you're looking for a quick, upbeat read this is gor you. Oh, and a handsome team of NHL players. Yes please
I love a good love story. This one was spicey and sassy! The family was amazing even if they annoyed teased and just in general loved each other HARD! The players were too funny. A bunch of man-boys but you wouldn’t want them any other way! Possessive and loyal with hearts of gold. Great story thank you!
-Small island town -Love at first song -Football romance -Found family -Dual POV -Spice
On a small island, our FMC Addy has taken on the responsibility of taking care of her 3 younger siblings- when she meets famous football player, Gage. He falls first, she resists because she has too much on her plate- and then the fun begins!
This was fast paced, under 300 pages, had swoon and emotions, great banter, found family, and some football!
I would have loved a little more depth to our MC’s relationship - or for the conflict to last a little longer- but overall was a fun sports romance to just binge.
Recommend for any romance or sports romance lovers!
I received a digital ARC of this book. This is the first book in the series, but there’s also a short prequel novella that you should read. I have loved the other Smuggler’s Hideaway series by Dena, and I’m so glad she’s writing another one. You will want to move to Smuggler’s Hideaway if you read the series that are set there. Quirky island town that believes in mermaids and doesn’t believe in secrets. Gage is an NFL player staying in Smuggler’s Hideaway during training camp. When he first hears Addy sing he decides she’s the one. When he greets her, she has no idea he’s a famous and rich NFL player, which only makes him want her more. But Addy is a local and doesn’t have time for dating. In this he falls first story you will be routing for Gage and Addy to find a way to be together. I read this book in one sitting and I’m already looking forward to book 2 in the series!
I finished this sooooo fast! I was hooked right away! I loved how sassy the FMC is! Also the MMC was a complete lover boy who fell hard right from the very beginning which is 100% my type! I loved the dynamic between the two of them, may that type of relationship find me someday!
It’s been a while since I’ve read something from Author D.E. Haggerty and I was very happy to find ON HER TEAM, a lighter romance comedy that I enjoyed picking up between my usual darker reads, and it was exactly what I needed to cleanse my soul and brighten my spirit.
Gage Edwards, an NFL star and fastest running back along with his offensive line team friends are on the Island of Smuggler’s Hideaway to attend training Camp for the summer. They’d started early and had already have made an impact on the local inhabitants apparently. He was normally swamped by women throwing themselves at him so I had to laugh when he became enamoured with the tiny woman singing karaoke at the local bar who sang better than any angel. Not only did she fail to recognise him but he was literally gobsmacked by the complete lack of interest shown by her as his latest person of interest! I loved that this angel ripped the rug of cockiness out from under his feet, like she’d just threatened the foundation of everything he’d based his reputation on. To be fair though, his self-importance was justified – he was the whole athletic package of sexy handsomeness and NFL star reputation 👀🫦
Addy Price was feisty, uber-responsible and fiercely protected her own autonomy, relying on nobody but herself. She’d had to, since she’s been pretty much raising her three younger siblings on her own just like she’d had to raise herself for as long as she could remember. Parental abandonment scars children and destroys trust, so whatever the reason of a parent’s inability to be in the present and take responsibility for bringing up their children, too many readers will identify with her situation. She’d not been used to accepting help from anyone, and was incredibly challenged when a pure hearted and generous Gage persistently shoe-horned his way into her life.
I know from previous reads that Ms Haggerty specialises in secondary characters who heavily interfere into the lives of their main character friends. They usually have over-the-top behaviours that provide comedic relief from the stresses of every day life and her vivid descriptions provide depth to the community she builds throughout each series of books. Gage’s team mates were extreme athletes who were introduced and Addy’s family was nothing short of chaotic. While funny on paper, I've seen my friends who’s children mirrored the personality type of Addy’s youngest sibling Mila, and in real life action it was TIRING and beyond annoying for siblings. As for myself, I was just grateful that my own and my son’s level of ADHD was not that high!😬
While I described ON HER TEAM as a lighter read, do not mistake this apparent lightness for any kind of shallow plot because it’s not. Both Addy and Gage had less than ideal childhoods that could either make a break a person upon entrance to adulthood. These two more than survived, and in spite of everything, they were characters that I loved and admired. Gage’s level-headedness, his generosity and patience made him a beautiful and romantic character, and I believe his was a more stellar character than Addy’s was.
Both had experienced a huge level of abandonment yet Gage was in a more settled and successful place than Addy was. Ms Haggerty provided the best reasons in the world for Addy’s reticence, and I understood that, but I loved Gage’s giving nature so much more. When he told her he wasn’t going anywhere – he meant it. How can any reader not love an NFL star whose laser focus pin-points one woman and who will do anything to show her that he’ll be there for her and her intense family, unconditionally!?!
With ON HER TEAM being the first in Ms Haggerty’s new series, she’s spent time good time introducing characters and has prepared the hooks of interest that are absolutely spot on. This means that readers like myself will be on the lookout for her future books and those sexy team mates of Gage Edwards. 4.5-forever-present-romantic-hero-Stars🧡🎙🏈✰•

😊What i liked -
✔He Falls First/Friends To Lovers/New In Town/Found Family/Small Town/Rom-Com/Sports. ✔Ahhhhh i loveddd Addy and Gage together. The chemistry between them is insane. She has too much on her plate and he just wants to make things easy for her- uuughhhh the cutest. I love the bond he forms with Addy's siblings and Mom. It was cute, heavy and funny at places. Haggerty somehow gives a perfect balance to her story and characters. I absolutely loved the new bunch of players in this- They were a hoot. Though I loved the older characters sliding in and out of the pages now and then. I absolutely loved this feel good book.
🤔What could have been better-
✔Oh that slow burn near about killed me.

Oh, Gage. You sweet thing. Gage is a pro-NFL player, and his team is on Smuggler's island for pre-training camp. He hears Addy sing one night, and he's done for. God Bless him, he is immediately down bad.
Addy is in her late 20s, and has shackled herself to the island and her family to help her mom with her siblings. She has dreams of being a songwriter. She is worn out between working so much and essentially raising her siblings.
Gage is a good man. He doesn't give up, no matter how many times Addy pushes him away. TBH, she got on my nerves. I get being independent and being used to doing things on your own, but for the love of God-do not complain about being on your own, needing help, then REFUSE it at every turn. When he tries to help, she accuses him of trying to control her-INSERT BIG EYE ROLL HERE. Here is an example: "I've been alone for such a long time. No one helps me out. Not mom. Not my siblings. I'm the person who helps everyone else." -My note here: This makes me lose my mind. When authors write FMCs who are alone, carrying everything and are tired of it, but REFUSE to let someone, who has proven they are good, help them. It tears me out of the brain. Even her brother, Otis, calls her on that bs.
"You don't need to come with me." "I know I don't. I know you can handle this on your own. You can do anything you set your mind to on your own. But you aren't on your own." I freaking loved GAGE!
this is a cute, fluffy read. I really liked it because of that. It won't be for everyone, but I loved the quirky town, their love of mermaids, and the fact that Gage was all-in and didn't give up.
It is always good to return to Smugglers Hideaway, the island where everyone knows everyone, where matchmaking is a national sport, where pranks abound, and where the Steel City Seals are doing their pre season training. This is a pure, witty, unadulterated love story, no cheating just a determined chase. NFL superstar Gage Edwards, is the running back for the Steel City Seals, he is tall, handsome, talented and adored by the fans, but he only has eyes for one woman, a woman who doesn't even know who he is, so definitely not after his money or fame, a gorgeous red head who electrified him when he saw and heard her singing at the Bootleggers Bar's Mermaid Karaoke. Addy Price didn't have time for boyfriends, she was helping her mother raise her three siblings, even though they were old enough to look after themselves, Addy didn't want them to feel deserted as she had felt when her father walked out, Addy was also waiting tables at the Five Fathoms Brewery and in her spare time, of which there was very little, she was trying to follow her dream to be a singer/songwriter. Gage pursued Addy with a passion, he had been brought up in the care system and he envied Addy with her sometimes riotous family, he had never felt for any woman the way he felt for Addy, but Addy, although Gage knew deep down that those feelings were returned, kept erecting more and more barriers, barriers that Gage would patiently dismantle. This is a great story, I love the zany residents of Smugglers Hideaway, I love the chemistry between Addy and Gage, I love how he fits in to the family that he longed for. I received a free copy of this book and my review is voluntary.
On Her Team by D.E. Haggerty is a spicy, feel-good small-town sports romance full of charm, heart, and just the right amount of chaos. When NFL star Gage Edwards hears a bartender sing karaoke in a quirky island town, he’s instantly hooked—even if she has no idea who he is and couldn’t care less about his fame. I loved the “he falls first” energy here. Gage is swoony, persistent in the best way, and surprisingly grounded despite the fame and swagger. Addy is equally compelling—fiercely loyal, family-focused, and not easily swayed by fame or dimples (though Gage definitely puts them to work). Their chemistry is fun, flirty, and full of tension, especially as he keeps showing up for her in ways she never expected. The small-town setting adds so much personality, with a lively, meddling, loving community that feels like its own character. I also enjoyed the humor and the chaotic, lovable “man-boy” energy from the supporting cast—it keeps the story light even when emotions run deeper. If anything, I would’ve loved a touch more time with their emotional development before things fully take off, but overall this is a highly entertaining, heartfelt romance with plenty of spice and a satisfying HEA. A perfect escape read for fans of sports romance, small towns, and stubborn heroes who are absolutely determined to make the girl sing and fall in love.
Wonderful Story That Brings a New Cast of Characters to Beloved Smuggler's Notch
I loved this start to a new series that brings a pro football team for preseason training to my beloved and crazy small town of Smuggler's Notch. Gage falls for Addy at first sight and even more when he realizes that she has no clue who he is, and is not the least bit interested in his fame or fortune. Despite this, they have wonderful witty banter and chemistry - making every time she turns him down due to her family responsibilities all the more fun. Add in the crazy town festivities, her sibling's antics, his teammates (and their text chains) and the laughs kept coming. But the book also deals with more serious issues of abandonment, mental illness and foster care (TRIGGER WARNING) although those are handled well and with sensitivity. I loved how they were there for each other and how despite Cage's wealth, Addy's family gave him what he most wanted - a family - cue tears! This is easily read as a standalone for this who haven't read any previous Smuggler's Notch books or series (although they are all wonderful) and serves as a great introduction to the town and its craziness. I can't wait for the next book in the series - Enjoy!
I was sent an ARC by the author and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
On Her Team was so good! Addy is a bartender and songwriter on Smuggler’s Hideaway who spends most of her life taking care of her younger siblings and helping her mom keep everything together. When NFL running back Gage Edwards arrives on the island for training camp and hears her sing karaoke, he falls hard and immediately decides he wants to be part of her life, whether she wants him or not.
I loved these two! Gage was completely obsessed with Addy from the start, but he didn't just fall for her, he fell for her family, her dreams, and all of the responsibilities she carried around every day. The man just kept showing up for her. Every time Addy tried to convince herself she didn't need him, he was right there proving that she didn't have to do everything alone anymore. It was so lovely!
And then there's Smuggler's Hideaway, which I love more every time I visit. There's Mermaid Karaoke, football player shenanigans, gossiping locals, and everyone seems really invested in everyone else's business. The island always has so much personality and this is definitely one of my top 5 favorite fictional towns.
More than anything, this book was about finding a place where you belong. Gage spent his life wanting a family and Addy was drowning under the responsibility of hers. It was so sweet and I can't wait for the next one!
The first in a new series set on the island of Smuggler's Hideaway. “This island is crazy.” “Quirky.” I snort. “Quirky? Uh-huh. There’s a resident seal, and we're off to steal a raccoon. Totally quirky and not crazy.” Dena, the author, does a great job introducing the new characters this series will be based on and throughout the storyline, it involves other characters we've already met and grown to love. But this is Gage and Addy's story. These two are very engaging characters who are a lot of fun to read about. Addy is busy helping to raise her siblings; along with her work and her dreams of being a songwriter, she definitely doesn't have time for romance especially not with a player who is only on the island for pre-season training. Gage's first encounter with Addy at Mermaid Karaoke has him hooked on the singer/songwriter and refuses to take no for an answer when it comes to wooing her. This is lots of fun, with great banter between our main characters, but you also get some heartfelt moments, especially around Gage's upbringing and his desire for a family of his own. “My gut tightens. Our family. I have a family. I came to Smugglers' Hideaway for training camp and some sun and laughs. I'm leaving with the most precious thing in the world. Belonging.” This was a very enjoyable read. I loved it.
I really enjoyed this book—it’s sweet, a little chaotic, and ultimately a fun read.
Addy is a young woman from a small island who helps her mother raise her siblings. She has the voice of a goddess and loves singing at karaoke nights, which is where Gage first sees her—and instantly falls in love. Their connection is complicated from the start: Gage is an NFL player in town for summer training, and he doesn’t actually live on the island.
Gage pursues Addy relentlessly. Even when she puts up barriers, he meets them with patience and warmth. It’s refreshing to see his “golden retriever” energy—earnest, persistent, and kind. I really sympathized with Addy as well; she carries a heavy burden and makes sacrifices out of love for her family, even when it costs her own dreams.
The romance develops quickly, but the story isn’t just about Gage and Addy—it also highlights the love within Addy’s family, which adds emotional depth. That said, the pacing can feel uneven. Despite the fast-moving romance, parts of the book drag and feel a bit too long.
Overall, it’s a heartfelt and charming story, even if it could have been tighter in places.

Great start to a new series This series follows on from The Raider Brothers books, which I loved and is also set in the same hometown of Smugglers Cove. We were introduced to some of the characters in the previous series but if you’ve not read the earlier series it isn’t a problem, as reading the first series is not required, it just gives you insight on the town, its inhabitants and their quirky ways. This story follows football player Gage and aspiring song writer / singer Addy. Unable to leave the Cove due to her commitment to her family Addy has put her career on the back burner, but once Gage heard her sing during Mermaid Karaoke he’s smitten and only wants to get to know her and help in any way he can. He tears down all her defences over time but not without making some monumental mistakes along the way. I loved how strong and no nonsense Addy was and unaffected by Gage’s popularity and fame. This story was fun, with a bit of steam and plenty of banter which kept me engaged throughout. With loveable main characters plus getting to know Gage’s team mates, I’m definitely looking forward to reading more stories about them. Thank you to DE Haggerty and BookSirens for the opportunity to read this book.
This is such an awesome book!! Of course I love everything on Smuggler's Hideaway!! Yes, I still want to move to this Island. With every story I read, I fall more and more in love with this Island. I love Sammy the Seal, I love the Mermaid Karaoke, I just plain love these stories. This is the first book in a new series that takes place on Smuggler's Hideaway. I can't wait to read the rest of the stories of these football players finding and trying to win over their mermaids.I received an advance review copy, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Addy is a woman who has her hands full and doesn't have time to date. She is too busy working, taking care of her mom and her siblings and trying to become a song writer. Gage is a pro football player on Smuggler's Hideaway for Training Camp and hears Addy sing at Karaoke and falls head over heals for her, and sets out to win her over. Let the fun begin!!! Two characters that stood out for me were Addy's little sister Mila, she is a bundle of mischief, and one of Gage's teammates Tanner. He is an absolute hoot but I can definitely see trouble headed his way. The cocky must fall and most of the time they fall the hardest. I highly recommend this book, it is packed full of laughs and lots of love!!
"Gage– a football player who’s fascinated with a singer who doesn’t know who he is."
Gage Edwards, an NFL running back falls instantly for Addy, but she has other priorities. On the island of Smuggler’s Hideaway with his team for training camp, he's the type of person who goes all in for all of his goals.
"Addy– a woman who doesn’t have time for a man who thinks she should fall at his feet because he plays football."
Addy Price is a very busy woman, supporting her mother with her siblings and working an extra job to help make ends meet. She has trust issues and no time for romance.
We're back in Smuggler's Hideaway for this story and I laughed along with the familiar and quirky inhabitants of the island and the equally quirky animals.
I loved the main characters, Gage is charming, patient and determined, Addy is selfless, cautious and a bit sarcastic. But the supporting characters: Gage's teammates and Addy's family almost steal the show.
This is a very satisfying story. As with all of the stories in this island universe, it has its own unique brand of humour.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book and am leaving a completely honest review.
The title of this book perfectly describes the relationship that builds between Addy and Gage. Gage is a cocky, famous football playboy who falls for a singer during Mermaid karaoke (IYKYK). She doesn't recognize him, intriguing him even more. He falls first and fast; she has many reasons for not trusting his interest. He wants a family, having grown up in foster care, and she has been let down repeatedly by those that are supposed to love her.
However, their chemistry is instant, and their banter spot on. I was invested in their story from page one, even if I didn't always understand her reactions to his actions, especially when she accuse him for trying to control her life (it felt more like he was creating opportunities for her). I really enjoyed the push and pull of the relationship, how they each have trauma in their pasts that drive their behaviors, and how Gage shows up every time, showing that he is on her team.
I very much looking forward to the rest of the books in this series!
I so love this author and her books and this one certainly didn’t disappoint. Addison Price dreams of being a singer songwriter and frequently sings karaoke at the Bootlegger bar where she works. Gage Edwards is an NFL superstar who is on a training camp on the island. When he sees and hears Addy he is immediately smitten. However she has never heard of him and is so not impressed, even though he is extremely easy on the eye! Helping her mom bring up her siblings she hasn’t got time for herself let alone romance plus he’ll be gone at the end of summer…… Gage isn’t one to give up though and is determined to get her to take a chance with him. I just love how the characters interact, how there is always a sensitive topic covered as well humour and plenty of spice!! It was great being back in Smugglers Hideaway with a new cast of characters but also some from previous books mentioned and making an appearance. Dena’s books have me totally hooked from page one with storylines that flow and keep you engaged and entertained. Can’t wait for the next one!!
I was excited to read this sports romance and while there were parts I loved and the banter was pretty good for the most part, there was something missing for me.
By the end of the book it still felt like the relationship was surface level? I’m not sure if it was just too much of an insta-love/lust vibe for me but as much as I wanted to be really invested in the romantic relationship between them I just wasn’t? Even the part that ‘tests’ their relationship was easily dealt with and barely a bump in the road.
I did like them as individual characters and the found family part for Gage was nice, I just wish that we had more meaningful moments with them so that it felt like a gradual buildup. It is also kind of hard to tell how much time is passing while you’re reading which I’m not sure if that also impacted the believability of their love.
Thank you to Book Sirens and to the author for this advanced reader copy of the book. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily
Gage Edward's and Addy Price meet when the Steel City Seals football team moves their practice to Smugglers Hideaway.
Gage is interested and makes his move, but Addy shuts it down because she has no time for romance, although, Gage is beginning to make her rethink many things.
With Addy's family commitments and various jobs how will she ever pursue Gage or her dream of becoming a songwriter.
Gage is interested in Addy's situation and even more invested in how he can help her with her family. However, Addy has her own ideas and treats attempts to help her juggle her responsibilities as Gage trying to run her life.
Gage has issues of his own, trying to keep his career on track, his teammates out of trouble and keep his coaches secret.
With so many challenges and so little time how will these two ever explore the chemistry between them?
This was a good read. I especially enjoyed Gage's teammates and Addy's siblings.
Looking forward to the next book in this new series.
WOW! What a great read! On Her Team is the 1st book in D. E Haggerty's new series and the 1st of her books that I have read. I immediately fell into the story set in a small beach town filled with cast of eccentric characters with an even more eccentric belief in mermaids. Addy, our FMC, is a feisty, overworked older sister who has too much on her shoulders. She is also the local karaoke queen with a voice that mesmerizes listeners including Gage Edwards, the very famous NFL player who is currently staying in Smuggler's Hideaway. He is intrigued and she is unimpressed and so the chase begins. I really loved this plot line. Sass, spice, humor mixed with deep conversations and genuine feeling made it a winning story. I also loved that the family and friends were so well written that I wanted to hang out and get to know them. I am hooked and ready to read the future books in the Steel City Seals series. I received an ARC and am leaving a voluntary review based solely on my personal reading experience.
I’ve read quite a few of Ms. Haggerty’s series and they generally have one (or two) so over-the-top characters that I think to myself “would I want to be friends with them?” However, her books also always contain so much heart, angst, and emotion that I can’t put them down! Addy feels stuck - running herself ragged at home wrangling her 3 younger siblings, working all the shifts she can squeeze in, and still trying to find time for herself to write music. Gage, a professional football player, is in town for training camp and once he sees Addy, he’s hooked. He is such a sweetheart, so loving and thoughtful, loyal and steady, and due to his rough childhood, he is more than happy to take on Addy’s family. Addy is afraid to love him, knowing he’ll be gone after camp. REALLY REALLY loved these two - both so full of love and care - for each other and their families - by blood and by team.
I received a free Advance Review Copy of this book and this is my voluntary review.
This is Book One of the Steel City Seals story and its been a great start to a series and finding little easter eggs throughout the book for upcoming characters and storylines is fun. The sense of family and found family in this book was strong which is something I always enjoy. The story was engaging and I enjoyed the banter throughout family and friendships but I feel like the story line was rushed? Id be reading and be into a scene and then a scene would be cut off to go to the next chapter leaving me with questions on what happened. The concept of supporting each other was well represented throughout the book and love the idea of the MMC giving the FMC a choice and explaining when things are confusing. Overall I enjoyed the book and would recommend reading and cant wait to continue reading the series as upcoming characters tell their story. 3.5 🌟 I want to thank Book Sirens and D.E. Haggerty for giving me an ARC of this book.
So exciting to start the next series on the small island and smaller communities of Smugglers Cove. Addy is a native and sees herself as solely responsible for raising her siblings and contributing to the community on the island. Gage is an NFL football player who comes to the island for summer training. He is smitten the moment he hears Addy sing karaoke. He is used to women falling at his feet, Not sidestepping him bc there isn’t enough time in her day for a hot distraction who will just leave the island at the end of his stay. Gage needs an entire game plan to convince Addy that he can share in her life and help shoulder her burdens. There are 2 completed series for population of the island. They definitely don’t have to be read before reading this book but if you find you love this story there are more out there to enjoy. Happy reading smuggler and mermaid fans! I continue to enjoy leaving reviews like this for my book from KU!
The Seal’s have set up training camp in Smugglers Hideaway and the guys are as busy off the field as they are on. Football is Gage’s whole life until he hears Addy’s karaoke one night. Now he’s trying to figure out how to juggle an NFL career and a relationship. That is if he can convince Addy he’s worth a relationship. Addy is helping her single mom raise her three younger siblings and doesn’t have time for men and definitely not for a relationship. How could she expect a man to put up with the demands her siblings come with. But Gage is in it for the long haul and soon Addy may see a path forward. I love this author’s sense of humor and how she intertwines the lives of her characters and communities. Smugglers Hideaway is again a fun place and a great time. Looking forward to seeing more in this series. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is the first book in the Steel City Seals series, and what a way to start!
Addy and Gage are swoon worthy. He is the cocky NFL star who is taking time to rest before the season stars in the small town, and ends in the bar where he hears Addy singing. He is taken with her on the spot, and it goes even deeper when she has no idea who he is.
Addy is independent, caring, strong, self reliant, and not looking for a saviour. She has enough with taking care of her younger siblings and mom, work, her music to pay attention to an uber sexy man. Gage is cocky, he is used to getting attention easily, so when she is not sway by his fame and charm, he makes it his mission to learn all about her. The banter, the moments, his total care for her, her family, her music are just what makes this read so entertaining!!
The small island town, the teammates and friends, the family are a great aid to tell this slow burn story. Just a great read!!
