"Only Jesus Knows: Loving the World’s Most Vulnerable" by Karol Glueck Holmes is a deeply moving read that stays with you long after you turn the last page. It ranks among the most influential books I've encountered; in fact, I cannot think of another instance where I have cried so freely and experienced such deep heartache while reading. The emotional weight of the story is palpable, but it is a journey worth undertaking as its influence serves as a remarkable catalyst for personal reflection and growth.
From the outset, Holmes and her family emerge as sources of inspiration, exemplifying how to navigate life’s trials with grace and purpose. They remind us powerfully of the necessity of authentically and obediently living out one’s faith, a principle that remains unwavering despite their hardships. The author’s willingness to share her family's life story, marked by bravery and resolute faith in God, is incredibly humbling; she recounts their struggles with such honesty, further heightening the emotional weight of the narrative. As you connect with their story, it is impossible to avoid embarking on an emotional journey of your own, one that tests perspectives, and stirs profound inquiries about faith, trials, and the human experience.

Karol’s second book about her family’s life dealing with adopted special needs children is riveting. Karol has a way with words that will hold your attention from start to finish. I smiled and cried with her as she told Moise’s story. Even though Moise had so many physical needs in his life, Jim and Karol met each issue head on with God’s help. Their deep faith helped them throughout Moise’s life, but especially for them during his very tough last years dealing with the state authorities and trying to get help caring for Moise after they couldn’t.
Any parent with special needs children would benefit from reading Moise’s story and the valuable resources Karol and her family used during Moise’s lifetime. By reading Karol’s experiences , you will find you aren’t the first, and probably not the last, dealing with the issues. And that should give you a peace.
Enjoy and be blessed! This story will linger with you long after you have finished the book!

This book is written with a firsthand raw depiction of the reality of living as a parent/caregiver to kids and adults with disabilities. The eye-opening truth of what a parent goes through with children who have intellectual and development disabilities (IDD), gives a gut wrenching reality check to how people and the church can support these families/care givers. Something that may have never crossed your mind, will be forever cemented as a challenge to reach out, support, pray, and help the IDD community. There is a clear call to action that can only be fully explained by reading this book. Be prepared for emotions and a desire to be the feet of Jesus.
