Summary: Jonny has found himself in purgatory, due to actions in his past. While there, he is realising that things are not always as they seem, and that purgatory never forgets.

Review: I went into this not knowing what to expect really, but I am pleasantly surprised. It was a really gripping horror, focused on the afterlife and choices made in life. It is unsettling, and thought-provoking. A really good read.

This was a deeply intriguing and unsettling story. The main character, Jonny, witnesses a dark paranormal event as a child—an experience that never truly leaves him and ultimately follows him into the afterlife. When he finds himself trapped in purgatory, Jonny can barely comprehend what is happening to him, and that disbelief makes his journey even more haunting.
In purgatory, he encounters others who were deeply flawed in life—people burdened by regret, guilt, and past sins. The story takes time to explore their lives, slowly revealing the choices and tragedies that led them there. These backstories are often disturbing, filled with violence and painful truths, but they add powerful emotional weight to the narrative.
The novel is dark, gripping, and emotionally intense. The suffering of the characters feels real, and the atmosphere is heavy with sorrow and dread. By the time the story reaches its heartbreaking conclusion—and desperately wanting more. I’m already anticipating the next book.
