Virgin River meets The Love Hypothesis in this closed-door contemporary romance. Made for readers who love nail-biting slow-burns, forced proximity, and just enough tension to make you want to throw the book across the room.
Hope Elmswood has spent her entire life in a dental office, whether she wanted to or not.
A few months after graduating as a dental hygienist and preparing to submit her dental-school applications, she’s completely burned out. And after a frightening incident with her father’s neurotic dental associate, she realizes she has to get away from the dental world…now.
With nothing but a suitcase and a dream she’s never been allowed to chase, Hope flees to a small mountain town to stay in her brother’s off-grid survival cabin.
She’s finally going to find a job she doesn’t despise, with no dentist drama and no spit.
But her plans for a dental-free existence unravel when she literally runs into her handsome new neighbor, Jay Alarcón. At first, he seems harmless enough, until Hope discovers he just so happens to be the very thing she ran from: a dentist.
Hope wants absolutely nothing to do with her new neighbor. Dentists are her personal villain origin story. But when a series of mishaps forces her to accept a job at his clinic and rent his accessory apartment, Hope starts to wonder if maybe not all dentists are the same.
As Hope confronts her anxiety and workplace trauma, she begins to wonder if healing and love might be possible after all.
Content Consideration: Love & Lidocaine touches on anxiety, workplace abuse, and includes a brief conversation about a parent who died by suicide (brief mention and non-graphic). There is also a short high-stress moment involving a car accident.
Thank you, Kendra Hope, for trusting me with an ARC of this story. It was truly an honor to be part of your team, and I can’t wait to watch your journey unfold from here.
I discovered Love and Lidocaine when I came across Kendra Hope talking about it on Facebook and from the very beginning, I knew this wasn’t going to be your typical romance. For starters the MMC is a dentist. Yes. A dentist. Not your usual dark and broody billionaire or tattooed mafia king but somehow Dr. Jay manages to be just as swoony. From the moment he gives Hope her nickname, I was hooked. He’s protective without being overbearing, possessive in that fictional-only way we love, and layered with just enough emotional depth to make your heart ache for him. Sweet, a little tragic, and fully book-boyfriend material.
And then there’s Hope. Our girl has been through it. She carries fear and pain, but what stood out most to me was her quiet resilience. She doesn’t need to be loud to be strong her strength shows in the way she keeps going, keeps trying, keeps opening her heart even when it would be easier not to. Watching her journey unfold was one of the most rewarding parts of this story.
The pacing felt natural, the writing was engaging, and the side characters added so much life to the world without distracting from the central romance. It was one of those reads that felt fresh and different and somehow still gave me everything I want from a love story.
My only complaint is that it ended too soon. This may be Kendra Hope’s debut novel, but it certainly doesn’t read like a beginner’s work. If this is where she’s starting, I’m genuinely excited to see where she goes from here — because I will absolutely be reading whatever she writes next.
thank you to kendra for allowing me the opportunity to be an arc reader for love & lidocaine <3
3.75 out of 5 ⭐
Hope Elmswood, like 80% of the world, hates dentists. The kicker, though? She works with them. Or at least she did until she quit with no plans to join them again. After a horrid experience with her father and his best friend (both of whom are dentists), she flees in hopes (no pun intended...but also I think it's cool that Hope is full of, well, hope) of living out her dream of becoming a writer and building a life not based on her father's expectations. Of course, God has plans of His own for our lives and when she moves she meets the one and only Jay Alarcon who, wait for it, is a dentist. Sometimes you just can't escape it.
I won't go into more detail are risk of spoiling anything, but Hope does end up working with Dr. Jay and she begins to build a life without her dad. I will say, the plot twist was totally unexpected for me and I loved that Kendra was able to surprise me in that way. It doesn't happen often that I don't predict something like that (though there is a particular part of this story where I thought they would all run into each other, but they didn't so I just assumed it wasn't going to happen).
What's in the book? • forced proximity • mentions of workplace abuse with flashbacks, family death by suicide, anxiety, panic attacks, and poor family dynamics • friends!!
What did I like? • I loved Hope's character. Her bravery in finally leaving a toxic environment and completely starting over (even if she did have some help in doing so) was admirable. • I loved how protective Jay was of her. It was nice to have someone who was on her side without any hesitation. • The friend relationships!! All of the friendships that were developed through this book were so wonderful. From Tyler and Macey who Hope meets when she moves to Emily, who she's known forever, I love a found family moment. • The writing. This was my first book by Kendra and I did enjoy her writing style and thought it was well-done. • The banter between Jay and Hope.
What didn't I like as much? • How quickly the characters said "I love you". I totally appreciate knowing someone is for you from the moment you meet them, but this relationship felt rushed to me. It felt very surface-level for the first quarter or so of the book, and I didn't truly believe that they were in love with each other. I know they like, are attracted to, and care for each other, but I don't believe they love each other. • Some of the swoony moments felt like they were teetering on the edge between closed-door and becoming slightly open-door. The book itself stayed closed-door, but there were moments where I was like "where is this going?"
Overall, I would definitely recommend this! I thought it was well-done and I did love the dynamic between Jay and Hope, even if I felt it was a little rushed. Maybe that's how love happens for some people (I wouldn't know, haha!).
Thank you Kendra for trusting me with an ARC on this book!
For being a newer author, Kendra doesn’t write like one. This easily fits amongst my shelves with Courtney Walsh, Cindy Steel, Jenny Proctor, and others. Kendra handled plenty of tough topics in this book with such grace, and kept it closed door while still keeping the swoon alive and well.
I loved being able to root for a female character like Hope who didn’t act helpless. She’s determined, after everything she’s faced, to still try. To face her fears, to start over. She also knows when it’s time to accept what’s right in front of her instead of let stubbornness win.
Jay as our MMC is easily likable as a confident and caring man, who truly has Hope’s best interest in mind. He’s bold, a little sassy, a little possessive in that only-book way we love, and has a pure heart. I very much appreciate reading a male character that is all green flags.
The supporting characters add enough depth without overtaking any part of the story, and with enough dialogue that you never feel like you barely know them.
I did not see the third act conflict coming, and I thought the resolve was very clever and realistic.
I was also surprised at how long the story was, and unfairly assumed there would be some fluff or droning internal monologue and I was happily wrong! The pace of this story felt perfect- enough detail and dialogue to make the read seem like a breeze.
I also appreciate that not every relationship was magically restored after the conflict came to light. I think it’s realistic that sometimes we go through situations that open others eyes after a long time, but that doesn’t immediately change how we interact or if we trust them. It also doesn’t mean that someone sees the light and wants to change. But she did a great job with giving an example of dialogue to help someone going through something similar- how to stand up for themselves and advocate their own boundaries while still holding out (get this) “hope” for the future.
I don’t want to give any spoilers, so I instagrammed all my favorite parts and lines to Kendra herself- but there were PLENTY. This will be a reread for me when it finally comes out!
I found my love of reading by the time I was 13. While my tastes have expanded, I am a sucker for a good love story. Where your desperate to read it all at once and know how it ends!! Feeling that “just one more chapter” feeling again!! However, 30+ years since finding that love, that feeling, I’ve been long searching for author that made me feel like I can’t breathe until I read the whole thing! A story that enthralls the reader with what is happening the entire story. You feel connected to a character or multiple ones. You witness the truest sense and various forms of humanity within the deep moments of life. You feel like you are riding shotgun on a high speed chase or in this case, you are one of the lucky people (out of over 900) picked to read Kendra Hope’s Love & Lidocaine as part of her ARC team.
If you’ve read this so far, I’m almost done I promise. I give away no spoilers and if I wasn’t in my 40’s I would have demolished this much quicker than 36 hours. It grabbed me from page one, it’s authentic, it’s different than anything I’ve read before. It contains love, joy, uncertainty, comedy, and moments that are painful, you feel them in your heart because you can truly feel each of the moments with the characters, and that makes this book an absolutely beautiful experience.
Clearly, I LOVED this book. I’m now a lifetime fan of Kendra’s even if she started writing dictionaries, I’m in!! You won’t be disappointed reading this amazing book.
To Kendra: thank you for writing this book. Thank you for this honor and taking us on this journey. Well done!!
Love & Lidocaine was amazing! I did not want to put it down! I laughed, I cried, I gawked, I kicked my feet in excitement over the love story! It is relatable, funny, entertaining, swoony without being explicit, inspiring, well paced, and well written! The amount of pages I “bookmarked” whenever I came across something I loved is ridiculous! It has the perfect plot twists and the banter is so good! I found myself relating to the FMC quite a bit, and the MMC reminded me of my husband in certain aspects! There were a couple aspects that aren’t exactly my taste, like how the physical romance was a tad too sexually charged for me, but the book still remained closed door. I also loved the full circle aspect and that the mental health topics were handled well in the writing of this book! I also appreciate the content warning in the beginning, as it is so important to make sure readers know what they’re getting into when dealing with sensitive topics in a book. The list of mental health resources at the end is also very considerate and helpful. It is very evident Kendra Hope cares for her readers! Due to her ability to write amazing stories without explicit content and her care for her readers, I will definitely be keeping myself updated on any more future works from her! Kendra, thank you for entrusting me with the honor of being an early reader of your book! You poured your heart out in this project, and it is evident! I enjoyed it so much and am delighted I got to have this opportunity!
Love and Lidocaine was my first book by Kendra Hope, and it absolutely will not be my last. I went into this story not knowing what to expect, and I was completely pulled in from the start.
The dynamic between the FMC, a dental hygienist, and the MMC, a dentist, created such a fun and unique backdrop for a romance. What I loved most, though, were the unexpected twists woven throughout the story. Just when I thought I knew where things were headed, something shifted that added so much thrill and emotional depth.
One of the standout elements for me was how anxiety was portrayed. It felt incredibly real and relatable. The story didn’t minimize it or gloss over how all-encompassing it can become. Instead, it showed the weight of it — and more importantly, the growth and progress the characters made in working through it. Watching that development unfold made the romance feel even more meaningful.
The instant spark between the characters was undeniable, but what made it compelling was that their relationship wasn’t easy. It was something they had to fight for. That tension, paired with emotional vulnerability, made their connection feel earned and authentic.
Overall, Love and Lidocaine was thrilling, heartfelt, and deeply relatable. If you enjoy romance with emotional depth, unexpected twists, and characters who truly grow, this one is worth the read.
I was lucky enough to be sent the ARC for this novel and let me tell you, I feel BLESSED. I feel like I sped through this book. it felt so unique and fun and I just absolutely adore it.
as someone who does NOT like going to the dentist, I’ll admit I was a little iffy on the dentistry vibe, so if you feel the same way DON’T LET THAT SWAY YOU! it’s honestly refreshing to be introduced to a profession that I don’t know anything about in a novel. L&L is set in cali, but like mostly in the mountainous region, so totally up my alley.
hope is a dental hygienist who hates her job and finally builds up the courage to leave her controlling father’s practice, and hopefully dentistry, forever. she ends up staying in her brother’s survival cabin, and just so happens to run into the closest neighbor who, spoiler, is very handsome and very rich. oh, and a dentist. PS: hope does NOT like dentists.
I felt like this whole story was very believable. the attractions, the communication, the traumas, none of it felt forced or weird. the romance was really sweet and filled with tension and yearning without being super lusty or gross.
I definitely recommend this book if you’re looking for a fun, sweet, swoony contemporary romance. out june 1st!
🌶️ no spice! a few intense kissing scenes. 🫢 no strong language!
I'm going to try to keep it reasonably short because I could go on and on about how much I loved this book! It was just so HUMAN and I loved the premise of dentistry-centric romance. So different!
Hope and Jay....ugh they just melt me into the ground. The push and pull between them, the ups and downs, the way he cares for her - supporting without being condescending, and the way she learns to be brave and give grace...I love them so much!
One of the best parts of this book was actually something the author chose to leave out. There was a kissing scene I thought she was gearing us up for. I wouldn't have minded it. But then we suddenly moved on. And in that moment I realized I actually appreciated that she recognized it was unnecessary. It would've been titillation just because, and would've been excessive. (If you read to the end of her acknowledgments, you'll discover the biggest reason I'm grateful for how she writes.) In a society of excess, appropriate restraint should always be applauded.
It's giving sizzling while staying closed door. It's giving assertive MMC without being aggressive. It's giving multiple fun versions of forced proximity. It's giving humor and growth and HEA. So go read it!
I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Kendra, thank-you so much for the opportunity to be on your ARC team, it was an honour!
I have been so excited to read this book since I saw teasers on Instagram and it did not disappoint. I love that there was so much chemistry and swoony moments and the book remained closed door. This book made me squeal and kick my feet and honestly I never wanted it to end, I purposely read this slowly because I wasn't ready for it to be over - I will definitely be doing a reread of this one (or many rereads).
I loved Kendra's writing style and honestly I knew from the first few pages this would be a 5 star read for me. The main characters Hope and Dr Jay were great - I loved their chemistry, tension and emotional connection. Jay was just perfect - the perfect balance of supportive, romantic and protective - I'm swooning so hard. I loved the banter between characters and the few twists and turns I wasn't expecting. I smiled the whole time and I'm still smiling thinking about it.
Add this to your list to read - you will not be disappointed. I was excited to pick it up based on what I knew of the setting beforehand, but it exceeded all expectations. I love, love, loved this!
Love & Lidocaine was such a refreshing, witty small-town rom-com! I read it in one sitting and didn’t want to put it down.
The banter between the main characters was a highlight for me. The slow-burn tension felt natural and well-paced, and I loved that the romance stayed clean while still delivering plenty of heart. The small mountain town setting was charming, and the dental-world backdrop added a unique touch. The FMC’s character development was especially strong. Her motivations felt grounded and believable, and watching her growth unfold was incredibly satisfying.
The story is told entirely from the FMC’s perspective. I personally tend to prefer dual POV in romance because I enjoy understanding both characters’ internal motivations, so I did find myself wishing for a bit more insight into the MMC earlier on. That said, I can see why the author chose this structure.
Overall, this is a charming, closed-door romance with sharp banter, lovable side characters, and a truly enjoyable slow burn. If you love clean romance with small-town vibes and rom-com energy, this one is definitely worth the read!
Love and Lidocaine is exactly what I’ve been searching for in a closed-door romance. It delivers genuine chemistry and emotional depth without sacrificing plot or maturity. It’s surprisingly hard to find clean romances centered around adults that still feel layered and real, but this book strikes that balance beautifully.
Hope, the FMC, is incredibly relatable. She isn’t perfect or overly idealized. She feels like someone you could actually know. Her growth throughout the story felt natural, and I appreciated how her struggles and decisions reflected real-life complexities rather than manufactured drama.
The MMC was equally well done. He was protective in a way that felt grounded and supportive, not aggressive or possessive. That distinction matters, and the author handled it thoughtfully. Their dynamic felt healthy, respectful, and rooted in genuine care rather than control.
Beyond the romance, the story carries an empowering message about not letting others dictate your life or choices. It’s about finding your voice, choosing your own path, and discovering the people who truly feel like home.
This was an excellent read! I didn’t want to put it down and couldn’t wait to pick it back up again. It has been a while since I’ve felt that way about a book.
The story was compelling. The trauma, growth and trust the characters went through was perfect. I love that their stories weren’t just fluff, they had some grit. It made me relate to them much more. I appreciate that the author worked the conflicts the FMC was having toward redemption, but acknowledged that it wasn’t going to be an easy road.
The MMC was steadfast and patient. He was the perfect balance to the spitfire FMC whose world was turned upside down and is there supporting her as she is trying to figure it out. The banter and growth these two had was just right.
The side characters were also great, those supportive friends who make you laugh. We should all have those people in our lives.
There were twists I did not expect, dialogue that had me laughing out loud and moments that made me swoon. It certainly kept me on my toes. Love & Lidocaine is a great read! It is a book I would absolutely read over again.
This book was about Hope who was harassed by her father’s best friend and Dentist at his practice. Her father didn’t believe her and so she just randomly quit one day and went to Big Bear. When she got there her brother’s cabin was in terrible shape. She tried to fix what she could to make it home. She meets her gorgeous neighbor Jay and he helps her fix her AC fridge and other things around the cabin. She is looking for jobs but doesn’t want to be a dental hygienist anymore she wants to be a writer. She ends up taking the dental hygienist job at Jays practice because she needs the money. Well she finds out Jay is a dentist and she try’s to back away from him since her tragic experience with another dentist.
Anyway Hope and Jay find themselves at a crossroads and have to figure out if they can put the past behind them and move forward together or go their separate ways. This was a great book.
Thank you to Kendra Hope for allowing me to be apart of her arc reader team. I loved it and I think yall will too. Fall in love with Hope and Jay as well as Big Bear! I loved this book and I have a good feeling you will too.
Kendra Hope, you wrote a beautiful story and I'm blessed to be one of the chosen ARC readers. Thank You!
I LOVED this book!!! What a roller coaster of an emotional ride! I couldn't put this book down, and was pleasantly surprised by it.
1st) MFC? Hope. Poor Hope, she's been through the ringer, but is still trying. She reminds me a lot of people in general lately... Just trying to get through the day, one moment at a time, and sometimes one breath at a time.
2nd) MMC? Jay. You might not know it, but he's a got a lot of pain behind that great smile. He reminded me of a lot of guys I know.
3rd) Background Characters? Yes! I'm not naming all of them, but they are all awesome, and play their parts well.
4th) My only complaint? There's a few scenes that have ramped up kissing - technically still closed door - but definitely needed a fan for those times.
In conclusion? Kendra Hope is DEFINITELY going to be added to my auto-read list!!! 😍😍😍
Love and Lidocaine by Kendra Hope completely captured my heart. Hope’s story was emotional in the best way - it felt so real that I truly felt like I knew her as a person. The surprising things that occurred throughout her journey added so much depth and kept me fully invested. Some moments truly caught me off guard, but they were written in a way that felt meaningful and necessary to her growth. Watching those unexpected events shape her into her own person made the story even more powerful.
Jay was the perfect addition to this story. He showed Hope and honestly the reader too that it’s okay to trust, to open your heart, and to fall in love again. Their connection felt real and raw, never rushed or forced. The chemistry and emotional depth between them felt authentic and genuine.
The flow of the book was seamless and engaging. I was hooked the entire time and genuinely didn’t want it to end. If you love emotional romance with depth, growth, unexpected twists, and a beautifully written love story, this one is absolutely worth the read.
This book has everything and more. Tension, anxiety, thrill, trauma, love, abuse, a cute fluffy fur ball side character, dedication, self discovery, longing, betrayal and commitment; just to name a few. The swoon... it was so good!
This was my first time reading a contemporary romance and it did not disappoint. This is a well written, fast paced, clean romance. This book was giving Hallmark but better, edgier, and more realistic with what the main character was experiencing in her life (both with mental health and in her personal relationships).
I really appreciate how the author was able to keep it clean without making it cheesy/corny. The longing and yearning is heavy and beautiful in this book. This is a book I'd keep on my shelf and reread when I need a feel good book but also slap in the face with a powerful reminder to be brave, take chances, and to trust love.
Love & Lidocaine hits all the right rom com notes — small town, witty banter, sweet & swoony romance, a protective-but-not-a-jerk-about-it MMC, a relatable FMC you really root for, some of the best romance tropes, and a fluffy Samoyed to boot.
A lot of romantic comedies are short and sweet but feel pretty rushed, and sometimes that makes the story feel unrealistic. L&L is definitely sweet, but it’s wonderfully not short at over 400 pages! There was time for characters to genuinely develop, for plot twists (plural!), and for a truly authentic-feeling slow burn romance.
This story is one of healing, forgiveness, and facing the things you’d rather run from. I didn’t expect to be encouraged and even challenged in my own relationships by this book, but I was. I truly enjoyed the story that Kendra Hope shared with her readers, and I can’t wait for future releases from this talented author (who, side note, is really fun to follow on Instagram)!
I started reading this book with zero expectations. I was not prepared for how quickly I was going to become enraptured by it all. It was sweet and refreshing.
I personally don’t favor overly cheesy or cringy encounters, but the story was just enough and sweet. The way the FMC and MMC would banter and flirt was adorable. I am also a sucker for the nicknames, and the way Jay spoke to Hope in Spanish. Even though it was light and fun, the anxiety and panic attacks gave the story an edge, and I could relate and appreciate that.
I love Kendra Hope’s writing style. I loved the whole idea and plot. Her story was relatable in the way that she showed a side of being a reader/writer that is both exhilarating and complicated.
The depth and intensity of the story made it a heartbreakingly sweet read.
*Disclaimer: I received an arc from the author. I was not required to give a favorable review. All opinions are my own.*
Thank you, Kendra Hope, for allowing me to be in your ARC team for Love and Lidocaine. I am simply blown away.
To start off, L&L felt so incredibly real. You read rom-coms and contemporary romance where the characters have high demand jobs but never go to work. I actually liked seeing that small glimpse into their world and the world of dentistry.
The characters. Hope: I don’t think I’ve ever related to a character more. I felt seen through her. She felt real and relatable in such a tender way that it was easy for my heart to break right along with hers. Jay: sheer perfection. I fell for him the second he came onto page. The sweet nicknames, his desire to help. Oh! And how patient he was with Hope! Gah makes me melt!
All of the swoon and yearn with none of the explicit spice and that made it a thousand times better! I immediately wanted to talk about this book with everyone. I absolutely adored every minute I spent reading this book!
* 6 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ * Workplace romance * Mental health rep * He falls first * Age gap * Green flag mmc * Slow burn * Forced proximity * ARC read I SERIOUSLY LOVED THIS BOOK!!! This was such a sweet contemporary romance! I think that this had so much depth and character development in a way we don’t always see in romance. The MMC made me swoon and was such a constant supporter of the FMC, in every sense of the word. He is just a genuinely good guy. The FMC is going through a lot and working through past traumas while trying to change the path of her life. Seeing her confront her past and work through that with the MMC and figuring out how to move forward in her own way was so inspiring. I couldn’t put this book down, I just needed to see how it all played out. I highly recommend this book especially if you love a tension filled slow burn!!
*Review of Advanced Copy Received from Author* Thank you Kendra Hope for trusting me with this ARC!
I really loved this book! I am usually a slow reader but I was so invested in the story I flew through this. The premise was unique, the writing was great and the plot had me hooked and even surprised me with some unexpected twists.
The characters were easy to love and the found family aspect is always a favorite of mine. Hope's journey with anxiety felt deeply relatable and I loved watching her find herself. The romance aspect was great, it is closed-door but does get close to the line in a few spots.
There were some super sweet moments and I found myself giggling with the bits of humor through the story. This was a winner of a debut novel and I can’t wait to see what Kendra Hope writes next!
Incredible story! I could not put this down! I’m really picky with my romances and this one ticked all of the boxes. Swoon worthy MCM, hilarious banter, moments that made me cry, moments that had me on the edge of my seat, some really great truths and powerful thoughts. My only complaint: I finished it too fast!
I won’t put any spoilers out but the MCM made this story so good. Protective in all the right places, complex, controlled, romantic, passionate. And the FCM was someone who I really connected with! I just can’t sing the praises of this book loud enough.
The final thing I will say, the romance was just right. Just enough to make you swoon but clean without any type of guilt! Love love love!!!!!!!!
OH. MY. STARS. I haven’t read a book so fast as I have read this one in a very long time. This is deliciously written and remarkably fascinating in all the ways a story can be written. Love & Lidocaine is more than a romantic comedy with all the swoon. It’s a story of taking charge of your life, step by step, and learning to love and forgive no matter how messy life gets. It’s a masterpiece of a story, one extremely well done. This is a delightful rom com, yes, but an even more compelling storyline. Sweet romance, a small town, and paired with necessary suspense—you get more than you ever expected, all while staying within the margins of how a good book should go: wholesome, clean, and utterly adorable. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I tore through this book…it was a sweet/swoony romance undergirded with the realistic tension of learning how to make wise, hard decisions as an independent adult for the first time. The characters were genuine, flawed, and lovable.
The conflicts between the FMC and MMC actually made sense and showed their growth. The flirty banter was just right without being cheesy or premature.
Of note, I’ve never struggled with debilitating anxiety so the description of Hope’s panic attacks was just enough to pull me in to her perspective without stressing me out. That might be a little upsetting to some readers though.
Thank you Kendra for my first ever ARC copy - this was such a fantastic experience. And I can’t wait to read more of your work!
A romance with lots of heart and growth and swoon with a dash of humor and suspense.
The first half of the book I was in love. Hope's journey through healing was beautiful. Jay's confidence and encouragement (and dominance) was swoony. Hope's experiences with anxiety and panic attacks were so real and accurate to what I've experienced.
I didn't see the twists coming. The first one gave an interesting path for the story to go down, a way to make Jay more human and flawed. The second one I wondered about. But more than anything, I hate that it was a catalyst for the wildly unnecessary 3rd act breakup.
Hope in the second half of the book drove me nuts and I wanted to shake her. The relationship drama that wasn't needed dropped this enthusiastically 5⭐ book to a 4⭐
ARC read: One word. UNREAL. Kendra has a way with words and I’ve loved her writing since I first found her. But this book was on another level. Kendra finds a way to connect with her readers that led me to feel like I was in the story, reading about my own life. This is a beautiful closed-door romance with every single plot development I could possibly ask for. Just when I thought everything was perfect BAM…. PLOT TWIST. This story, keeps you guessing, keeps you interested and connected with the characters. It’s the perfect length, it wasn’t rushed and it answered all the questions I had throughout. Wonderful story, highly recommended and I can’t wait for it to be released so I can hold the physical copy and read it again!! Amazing work Kendra (not that I’m surprised!!)
Thank you for trusting me with your book! I feel honoured ❤️
Oh my Lanta!!!!! I need to get a physical copy ASAP 😫 6 stars for me! I've NEVER given a 6 star rating before. I found my favorite author. I will read anything this lovely author writes.
This book gave me all the feels. I've never felt like I understood a character so much in all my life. I LOVE Hope so much and the character building *chef's kiss* there was so much healing. I love Jay as well, his character building was spot on! Oh the swooning 😍! I cried, 🤦♀️so much crying, but it also healed a part of me while reading it. The plot twists were incredible, I gasped out loud an insane amount of times. If anyone takes anything away from this review...READ THE BOOK NOW!!!!
I’m trying to remember the last time I was hooked on a book from the just first chapter. Kendra did a fantastic job with telling Hope and Jay’s story. The plot twists were gripping and the pacing of the entire story was amazing- which can so often be a problem in so many novels. I loved the focus on mental health and I could tell a lot of thought went into it. I love how we seen Hope progress as a character. The love story felt very convincing and had my squealing with delight the entire time. Such an amazing story and I will read everything from Kendra Hope!
Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
WOW WOW WOW! This was honestly the best book I have read in a while! From the first page to the last I was OBSESSED! I didnt want to put it down, and when I had to its all I thought a out. I loved the FMC & MMC the banter between them was wholesome, quirky, fun and just the perfect amount of want and spice!
A couple of twists and turns that I absolutely did not expect what so ever! I laughed, cried, got chill bumps! This book is so fun and such an easy ready!
Im obsessed and literally am so sad I cant re-read it for the 1st time! 🥹
Do your self a favor and go put this on your TBR list NOW, so you dont forget to snag it when its available!
