Hunted by gods and dragged into a world of forgotten magic, Vera is forced to confront a truth no one was meant to her very existence is a mistake written out of the world’s design. As ancient powers stir and monsters crawl back into the light, survival becomes more than instinct, it becomes a choice.
Guided by two Hunters and drawn into a secret order sworn to fight the darkness, Vera must learn who she is before the gods decide what she should be.
Vera is bound to a man marked by curses and secrets of his own. What begins as protection ignites into something far more dangerous, a forbidden, soul-deep bond the gods never intended to exist.
As war closes in and fate tightens its grip, Vera must choose between denying her heart… or surrendering to a love powerful enough to save the world... ...or damn it beyond repair.
A self-published romantasy author and photographer based in North Brisbane, Anais spends her days capturing real-life emotion through her camera, and her nights crafting fantastical tales slow-burn romance and wild-hearted heroines.
Her debut novel Unwritten, the first in The Hollow Gods series, explores what it means to carry secrets, find strength in vulnerability, and walk beside someone even when the path is uncertain.
When she’s not writing or behind the camera, Anais is chasing after her two little ones, building fairy houses in the garden, or plotting her next story over a cup of tea. She believes in soft power, second chances, and the kind of magic that grows in the quiet places.
I’m grateful to have been selected as an ARC reader for Unwritten and to experience this story ahead of its release.
The strongest aspect of the book is its characters and the camaraderie between them. Their relationships brought warmth and emotional grounding to the story, and their shared loyalty made it easy to care about what happened to them. These quieter, character-focused moments often felt like the emotional core of the narrative.
Nerian was a clear standout. His humour was well-timed and provided welcome relief in heavier scenes, and he felt vivid and genuine on the page. His presence added balance and humanity, and he was easily one of the most memorable elements of the book.
However, I personally struggled at times with the prose. Repetition of certain words, expressions, and descriptive phrasing appeared frequently enough that it disrupted the flow and lessened the impact of some key emotional moments. This made it harder to remain fully immersed in the story. With greater variation and refinement in the language, the narrative could become much more impactful.
There is, without question, strong imagination and sincere heart behind this work. The author has created a world and characters with clear potential, and I believe her storytelling voice will continue to grow and strengthen with time.
While my personal reading experience fell closer to a 2-star level, I’ve rounded up in recognition of the creativity, emotional foundation, and promise shown here. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to read it early and am interested to see how the author develops in future works.
She was never meant to exist and now she’s hunted by the Gods and has to decide what she will be before the Gods decide for her. Vera is faced with challenges and a world she never knew existed, but she is not alone. Strong friendships are forged along the journey for Vera to learn who she is. The dynamics between the main characters kept drawing me back to reading more of this book, you have Nerian a jokester and super mischievous, Aedric ever serious and fiercely protective and Vera unfaltering and strong, never broken by the revelations of her identity along the way.
In this story you’re introduced to a new world with new monsters and Gods. While there isn’t extensive world building, you can vividly imagine the monsters and Gods that they encounter along their journey. My favourite parts were the quiet moments where you witness the friendships develop and the lifelong bond between Aedric and Nerian. The ending of this book leaves you knowing there is so much more epic romantasy to come.
3.75-4 Thankyou @starlightpress.publishing for the opportunity to read this early🩵
I absolutely love the concept of this story and am keen to see where it leads.
The romance unfolded throughout the whole story, but was also a slow burn, where the FMC knows what she wants, and has the patience and understanding for the MMC to wait to realise his feelings. But also a FMC who knows the right time to push.
Vera is the FMC and whilst strong-willed, is also gentle. Her life falls into danger and ends up in the protection of two hunters, Aedric and Nerian, who happen to be brothers.
Nerian gives me Milo Thatch vibes but with the ability to fight like its noones business. And hes funny as. Aedric is the stoic no-nonsense type.
Who do you think Vera grows feelings for👀
The gods, the magic, the monsters, the balance and fate of the world... i can't wait to discover more.
I did find there was some repetitiveness that i felt was unnecessary, and there were some small inconsistencies that made me go back and reread some sentences. Nothing huge but one sentence would mention the characters walking for hours but a couple sentences later it would reference someone shifting in their seat. So I'm thinking so are they walking or not?
In saying all that, none of it takes away from the story, those small things just pulled me out of it for a short time while i wrapped my head around them.
Nevertheless, I am still excited to see how this story or gods and mortals unfolds in the next instalment!
Thank you to Starlight Press Publishing for giving me the chance to be an ARC reader for Unwritten.
(3.5⭐️) I really enjoyed it, but I’m also a little torn on this one… Unwritten has so much potential. There were parts I thought were fantastic, and I loved the adventure and action, but also moments that pulled me out of the story.
The premise is really intriguing. Who doesn’t love the idea of gods, monsters and hunters, all while exploring identity, choice, and internal conflict? You can clearly see the effort put into the world-building, and I loved the concept of the brothers as hunters (definitely hot). Their dynamic added a lot to the story and kept things interesting.
I also appreciated that the characters weren’t perfect. They were messy, they were vulnerable, and watching their growth over time was really rewarding, especially seeing Vera (FMC) start to find herself and come into her own.
In saying that, I did struggle with how quickly everything happened at the start. The FMC meets the MMC in (literally) the second chapter, and he immediately decides he has to save her. She then just trusts him without hesitation, following him off to who knows where and leaving everything behind, including her grandmother, who had suddenly disappeared (and was then pretty much forgotten about). It made it hard for me to fully buy into their connection to begin with.
I also found it difficult at times to stay engaged because of some of the inconsistencies. Small details would shift, like her eye colour changing from blue to lavender or scenes didn’t quite line up (walking vs riding a horse, then suddenly looking back at a car or leaning on a seat). I genuinely had to go back to see if I’d misread or missed something. Those moments broke the immersion more than I would’ve liked. The repeated phrases drove me a little nuts too. There were a lot of grunts, sighs, and “running his hand down his face.”
Despite that, I loved Aedric (brooding MMC). He’s got trauma/issues (don’t we all), but it just makes you want to root for him more. Vera is strong-willed, challenges anyone, refuses to be controlled, and is incredibly resilient in her journey of self-discovery. And then there’s Nerian. The sweet when it matters comedic relief that really completes the trio.
My favourite quote: “You are light, even when you think you are darkness. You are hope, even when you believe you are doomed. You are not a curse. You are my home.”
At its core, there’s a really strong story here. The foundation, the ideas, and the character arcs have so much promise. Even when it frustrated me, I still couldn’t put it down and I’ll definitely be picking up book two.
It’s 100% worth reading, just go in knowing it might feel a little rough around the edges. With tighter editing and more consistency, I honestly think this could be a hit. Anais should be incredibly proud.
I was really excited to read Unwritten. The premise had everything I usually enjoy, including supernatural elements, ancient gods, and a heroine at the centre of something much bigger than herself.
The first couple of chapters started off well enough, but as I continued, it became increasingly clear that the book would benefit from stronger editing. The writing did not quite land for me, the dialogue often felt flat, and there were noticeable continuity issues that made it difficult to stay immersed.
From what I gathered before deciding to DNF at around 20%, the story follows Vera, a small-town girl whose life is turned upside down when two mysterious brothers enter her world and supernatural creatures begin to appear. Vera is now protected by the brothers who take her home, only to discover that her grandmother has disappeared, leaving behind a cryptic note telling her to stay with the hunters, Vera is pulled into a larger storyline involving ancient gods, other hunters, and a hidden world just beneath the surface.
While the premise is interesting, the execution felt confusing at times. There were moments where characters seemed to know things they should not, alongside instances where key information was not clearly established. The world-building has potential, but it lacked consistency, and the tone often felt overly intense without enough variation to create impact.
Overall, I really wanted to enjoy this, but it just was not the right fit for me in its current form. I do think the story has potential, and I would be open to revisiting it after further editing and refinement.
**Rating: 2 stars**
Thank you to the author for the opportunity to read an advance copy.
Firstly thank you to @starlightpress.publishing and the author for sending me my first ever ARC copy of a book.
I really wanted to love this book, as the premise sounded a lot like the books I normally enjoy reading. Within the first couple of chapters I was getting The Witcher/Supernatural vibes from the story and thought this would be a great read.
However I DNF the book at around 25%. There were quite a few inconsistencies within those early chapters that made it difficult to continue and I feel like story would benefit from further editing.
It seems like there was originally a car as transportation in a previous edit but at some point that was changed to walking as the main way to travel.
Excerpt from Chapter 11 “Instead, she leaned forward slightly, propping her chin on the back of Nerian’s seat, smirking. "You think you’re so clever, don’t you?"Nerian grinned. "Sweetheart, I know I am."Aedric finally spoke, his voice flat. "If you two don’t shut up, I’m leaving one of you on the side of the road."Nerian chuckled. "Aw, brother, don’t be jealous." Aedric didn’t rise to the bait. He just kept walking.”
I normally get very immersed in the story I’m reading but these inconsistencies pulled me right out of the story and had me questioning if I missed something.
I did love the banter between Vera, Aedric & Nerian though and would love to give this story another chance after further edits.
Thank you to the publisher for the opportunity to read Unwritten early.
The concept is one of the book’s strongest elements—gods, monsters, and hunters woven together with themes of identity, fate, and belonging create a really compelling and immersive world. The dual POV between Vera and Aedric works well, adding depth to both characters and making their slow-burn romance feel more layered and emotionally driven. The tension between them builds nicely, while the dynamic between the brothers is a clear highlight. Nerian’s humour and charm bring balance to Aedric’s brooding nature, and their banter adds warmth and levity throughout. Vera’s journey of self-discovery is also engaging, especially as she begins to realise she may be more than just an ordinary mortal.
That said, the book does feel a little rough around the edges at times. There are some noticeable inconsistencies in scenes and small continuity errors, along with repeated phrases that can momentarily pull you out of the story. The pacing at the beginning is a bit slow and uneven, making it harder to fully settle in, but it improves as the story progresses, with the action and stakes picking up toward the end.
Overall, Unwritten is an engaging, character-driven romantasy with a lot of heart and clear potential. The relationships, emotional tension, and intriguing world-building kept me invested, and I’m definitely interested to see how the story develops in the next instalment.
The old Gods weren't content to just observe, they wanted obedience & devotion from the mortals. That was, until they disappeared. Now they are mostly forgotten, reduced to myths and fairytales. However, they do still exist, hiding at the fringes, waiting, lurking in the shadows with their beasts, for the right time to return and claim what they believe is rightfully theirs.
Brothers, Aedric & Nerian, are hunters. They protect the humans of their world by hunting and killing the beasts that attack at random. They know that the Old Gods are real. Vera, who was living a quiet life, has no idea that her whole life is about to change.
This book swept me up from the very beginning. The pace and adventure from the start drew you into the mythos of the world.
The journey that our trio take is full of wonder, magic, mystery, love & yes, even humour (thank you Nerian). But there are also mystical beasts and epic quests. They battle against the beasts and some of the Gods. The world that Anais has given us is so full and vivid with so many beautifully desribed scenes and landscapes, from hidden libraries, to mythical valleys and dark, beast filled woodlands.
Unwritten is a wonderful, epic journey. One that I am honoured to have taken. I am excited to return to the world of "The Hollow Gods" with the next book. This one was a 5 star read for me
Thank you to the publisher @starlighpress.publishing for the opportunity to read this story early 💙
I really enjoyed the overall concept of this story and I’m definitely intrigued to see where it goes next.
The romance builds steadily throughout, leaning into a slow-burn dynamic. The FMC knows what she wants and shows both patience and quiet determination, while still understanding when it’s time to push things forward. I liked that balance in her character.
Vera stands out as strong-willed yet gentle, and I loved how her journey quickly turns dangerous, placing her under the protection of the two brothers, Aedric and Nerian. Their dynamic adds a lot to the story—Nerian brings humor and charm, while Aedric is more reserved and serious, which creates a nice contrast.
The world-building with its mix of gods, magic, and looming danger is really engaging, and it left me wanting to uncover more about how everything connects.
That said, I did notice some repetition in certain parts of the storyline, along with a few small inconsistencies that pulled me out of the story briefly. Nothing major, but enough to stand out at times.
Overall, it didn’t take away from my enjoyment, and I’m still very interested in seeing how everything develops. I’ll definitely be picking up the next installment to see where the story leads.
I went in thinking I’d get a fun fantasy romance… and instead I got emotionally wrecked, obsessed, and completely unable to think about anything else for two days.
This book builds. Slowly. Tension, stakes, relationships, everything tightens until you’re just sitting there like “something is about to break” and then… it does.
Vera is such a strong, grounded FMC without feeling cold or distant. You feel every decision she makes. Every doubt. Every pull toward something bigger than herself.
And Aedric…God. Aedric. He’s not soft. Not easy. But the way he shows up? The way he cares even when he doesn’t want to? That kind of quiet, restrained intensity is so much more powerful than the usual over-the-top love interests.
And together?? The chemistry is insane. Not rushed, not forced, just this constant, simmering tension that makes every interaction feel important.
Also, can we talk about the vibe of this book?? It’s dark, atmospheric, a little dangerous, but still full of these soft, human moments that hit you out of nowhere.
And the ending…I’m still thinking about it. This is one of those books where you finish it and just sit there for a second like… “what now?”
Highly recommend if you want something that feels immersive, emotional, and just a little bit addictive.
This story alternates between main character’s Vera and Aedric’s points of view, which I really enjoyed as it allowed me to connect more deeply with both characters. Vera’s journey of self discovery is intriguing, especially as she begins to realise she may not be an ordinary mortal. Aedric, on the other hand, is a brooding hunter who keeps his emotions guarded, creating a compelling yet frustrating, slow burn romance between the two. Nerian, Aedric’s brother, adds a welcome touch of humour with his witty remarks and teasing, and he genuinely made me laugh out loud at times. The sense of adventure throughout the story is engaging, though there were moments that pulled me out of the experience. Some repeated sentences and phrases, along with inconsistencies during travel scenes such as references to driving when they were clearly on foot were a bit confusing and required a double take. (Note that this is an ARC so hopefully this is fixed in the launched editions). The pacing felt somewhat slow at the beginning, with only occasional mentions of gods and intermittent action. However, the story picks up toward the end, delivering an engaging finish that has definitely left me wanting to continue on with book two. Overall, this book shows a lot of potential, with strong enough character dynamics and an intriguing premise that I’m keen to see develop further.
I devoured this book. Like, cancel your plans, ignore your responsibilities, “just one more chapter” turns into 2am kind of devoured.
Unwritten is one of those rare romantasy stories that actually balances everything: tension, worldbuilding, romance, and stakes. And when I say tension… I mean painfully perfect medium-burn tension.
The dynamic between Vera and Aedric? Elite.
Grumpy x sunshine done RIGHT. The kind where every glance, every argument, every moment of forced proximity feels like it’s building toward something explosive. And when it hits… it hits.
But what really surprised me was how immersive the world felt. Gods, monsters, hunters, everything feels layered and lived-in, not just thrown in for aesthetic. There’s this constant sense that something bigger is unfolding, and you’re only just scratching the surface.
Also...Nerian?? Absolutely stole scenes with his humuor. That banter was needed between all the intensity.
And the emotional punch…Yeah. This one stays with you.
If you love: ✨ slow-burn romance ✨ forced proximity ✨ hidden lineage ✨ morally complex characters ✨ “I would burn the world for you” energy
“She was never meant to exist. Now the gods will do anything to erase her.”
A dark and atmospheric romantasy that completely swept me away. Unwritten is everything I love about the genre, magic, forgotten gods, a slow-burn romance that hurts, and a heroine caught between fate and survival.
I was hooked by this book, I devoured it in a single day because I had to know what happened. The slow-burn tension between Vera and Aedric? Painfully perfect. And Aedric’s brother, Nerian, absolutely stood out with his humour, his banter balanced the heavy, intense moments so well. Total Supernatural hunter “old family business” energy, and I loved every second.
The writing is lush and immersive, and the pacing kept me glued to the pages. Plus, it features one of my all-time favourite tropes — only one bed at the inn!
The ending? it wrecked me (in the best way). If you’re a fan of ACOTAR, Fourth Wing, or The Witcher, this one belongs on your TBR. I cannot wait to read book two.
I read the indie version of this book, these new covers are stunning! Cannot wait to see them in the flesh soon.
I really wanted to like this book and went into it with the intention of supporting a new author, as I was selected as an ARC reader.
However, I ended up not finishing the book (DNF at Chapter 8).
The main issue for me was a lack of clarity and consistency in the world-building. I struggled to understand whether the story was set in a historical-style fantasy setting or something more modern, which made it hard to feel grounded in the story. There were also noticeable inconsistencies - for example, where the FMC didn’t know certain characters, and then suddenly knew their names without explanation. These kinds of details pulled me out of the story.
I also found it difficult to see a clear plot developing. I gave it a fair chance and tried to push through, but ultimately I felt more bored and frustrated than engaged.
I think with tighter editing and more clarity around the setting and character development, this story could have a lot of potential. The concept itself is interesting, (Supernatural vibes!!) but the execution didn’t quite land for me.
I am very grateful to have been chosen as an ARC reader for Unwritten by Starlight Press Publishing.
I enjoyed Unwritten overall and think it has a lot of promise. The story is interesting, the emotional tension is there, and Coker does a great job creating a sense of mystery and romantic intensity that keeps you wanting to know more.
That said, I did struggle a little with the beginning. In the first chapters, I noticed some continuity issues, such as Vera seeming to know the brothers’ names before they were formally introduced. There were also some descriptions that felt a bit repetitive or overly simple, which pulled me out of the story at times. Because of that, it took me a little while to fully settle into the book.
Thankfully, it improved as I kept reading. The story became more engaging and the characters’ dynamics grew stronger. Coker’s strengths are definitely in building atmosphere, emotional stakes, and that feeling of tension between the characters.
Overall, while I think the book could benefit from a little more polish, it still has a lot of heart and potential. I’d definitely be interested in reading more from this author in the future.
I love the relationships between the three main characters and watching them grow throughout the story. This book gives off ‘supernatural’ vibes with the strong emphasis on hunting with it keeping you on your toes on what will happen next.
The brother’s banter is to die for and reading Darien’s carefree, upbeat nature makes you feel like there’s always a light at the end of the tunnel.
There was some inconsistencies within the book that did make it hard to read and with some phrases being repeated I had to do a double take at a few parts but the bones are there and you can tell it’s building a really impressive world. Having the book go through a bit more editing it will come out amazing and a great read for all that are interested in a good fantasy book with a budding romance that makes you giggle with delight.
Thank you to the author for giving me the opportunity to ARC read this book for them. I can’t wait to see what they come up with for the series.
Review of Advance Reader Copy received from the Publisher. Massive thanks to Starlight Press for sending me this ARC!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. The world of Eldros has been penned down beautifully, the author has intricately captured details that makes it easy for a reader to imagine themselves walking in the world, next to the characters. Straight from the first page, the book had heavy Supernatural vibes and I found myself with questions that kept me hooked. Aedric, Vera and Nerian share a bond that makes one believe in found family. Plus, a yearner MMC and a strong FMC always make for a brilliant read.
There were minor inconsistencies and a few repetitions throughout the book that had me re-reading some sentences to erase confusion. That being said, world-building and romantasy aspects of the book held a lot of promise, making it a delightful read. I’m excited to see where this story goes next and can’t wait to get my hands on the next book! ✨
I am so thrilled to be reviewing my first ARC ever, and what an outstanding story to start with!
The story follows two brothers, Aedric and Nerian, who hunt down dangerous creatures to keep people safe. They know the truth about the Old Gods, unlike most others. Then there’s Vera, who’s just living her normal life… until everything starts to change. She might not be as ordinary as she might have thought.
This book hooked me right away. It jumps straight into action and pulls you into its world almost instantly.
The adventure the three of them go on has a bit of everything. There are epic battles, strange creatures, and even encounters with gods. The setting feels incredibly alive, with beautifully described places like hidden libraries, magical landscapes, and dark forests full of beasts.
Honestly, I loved this book. It felt like a big, exciting journey, and I can’t wait to know more!!
Thank you for this ARC and I plan to follow this author’s work in the future!
I was fortunate enough to receive an advance reader’s copy of this book and I really enjoyed it. The pacing is good and there are some good plot developments that keep the story moving. There’s lots of banter and character development. The things that held me back from giving it 5 stars are the repetitiveness of the language. Too many ‘maybe, just maybe’, and ‘by gods he/she was letting her/him’. It got a bit frustrating. I’m also hoping that this was because it was an ARC copy, but there was also some frustrating continuity issues, with Vera’s eyes switching from lavender to blue and back again, somehow a horse becoming a car, and also having a cafe in what feels like ver medieval times felt a bit anachronistic, but it is a fantasy setting, so perhaps it’s just me being a curmudgeon. All in all, I enjoyed it and am looking forward to the sequel, because there will be one 🥳
ARC REVIEW: Unwritten by Amaid Coker is an engaging fantasy read that pulls you straight into a world of monsters, hunters, and hidden truths. The story follows Vera as her normal life is suddenly turned upside down, and I really enjoyed watching her uncover who she is while navigating all the chaos around her. The dynamic between the characters—especially the two hunter brothers—adds a lot to the story, with a mix of tension, humour, and slow-burn chemistry. The plot kept me interested the whole way through, and there were plenty of intriguing moments that made me want to keep reading. While the pacing and world-building could have been a bit more detailed at times, overall it was a fun and easy read with a unique concept. Definitely worth picking up if you enjoy fantasy with a touch of romance and mystery.
“Unwritten” by Anais Coker The Hollow Gods Series .. I was lucky enough to be an ARC reader for this debut novel, graciously sent to me by @starlightpress.publishing .. Synopsis: She was never meant to exist. Hunted by gods and dragged into a world of forgotten magic, Vera is forced to confront a truth - her very existence is a mistake, written out of the world’s design. As ancient powers stir and monsters crawl back into the light, survival becomes more than instinct, it becomes a choice. Guided by two Hunters, drawn into a secret order sworn to fight the darkness, Vera must learn who she is before the gods decide what she should be. Vera is bound to a man marked by curses and secrets of his own. What begins as protection ignites into something far more dangerous, a forbidden, soul-deep bond the gods never intended to exist. As war closes in and fate tightens its grip, Vera must choose between denying her heart... or surrendering to a love powerful enough to save the world... ...or damn it beyond repair. .. Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ I really did enjoy this book. It was slow to start, with lots of dialogue and banter between the main characters, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing as it helped develop the personalities of Vera, Aedric & Nerian. They had great chemistry and camaraderie, which only got stronger as the story progressed.
I did struggle with the developmental aspect of the story, there were lots of what felt like repeated moments, similar words and phases, and at times felt a bit disjointed. I’m sure this will only get better as the writer finds her voice and progresses with her writing career. .. Nerian was definitely my favorite character, his wit and humour was very much captured on the page. His lightheartedness and teasing was a welcome addition to the narrative. .. Then we get to the fight scenes and the narrative lifted somewhat and started to get exciting. Their journey through the Vale was full of interesting twists and turns and I began to see where the writer was going with the story. By the end of the book I was satisfied with the outcome of the storyline. .. All we want in a great novel is a narrative that is sincere and has pace and heart, which this book has and I’d be interested to see how the writer brings the story to life in the next book.
a big thank you to the author for an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.
unfortunately, this one was a miss for me. i seriously considered DNFing at about 25% but decided to power through so i could give a fully formed review.
the premise was quite creative and intriguing however, i feel as though the execution just didn't work for me. there were some phrases that were frequently repeated that took me out of the story.
i also found that there was often critical information that was missing (for example, Aedric and Nerian's last name - Vera just started calling them that out of nowhere and it wasn't explicitly stated until 51% that that was their surname) and also the characters somehow knew things that they shouldn't know such as the Vale.
also, i didn't completely understand the reason Aedric "couldn't have" Vera. he stated multiple times that he wanted her but then would continually say that he couldn't have her... which was just untrue.
anyway, i settled on 2.5 stars for this one. it's not bad but just not the right fit for me. i think this would be better for someone who hasn't read much fantasy and would like to dip their toe into it.
I received this as an ARC and was very excited to read it. This story has a lot of potential to be amazing, however I found it very hard to immerse myself in the book. The book is from Multiple POV and what this book lacked was those POV being exactly their POV. For example at the beginning of the book the main male characters had not advised the female character of their name, but in her POV their names were continually mentioned. It also referred to them as brothers at one point too when that had not been disclosed. it was like she knew information that she was not supposed to. I just feel that a POV should only include information the person the POV is from knows as you're coming along for the ride as they discover the information.
Thank you to Starlight Press Publishing for the ARC ❤️ 3.5 ⭐ *Unwritten: The Hollow Gods Series* is a deeply evocative tale that intertwines myth, magic, and the journey of self-discovery. The themes of memory, truth, and transformation resonate throughout the narrative.
However, I found the beginning to be somewhat challenging, as it felt like the pace was rushed and the flow was occasionally disrupted, making me feel as though I had missed a page or two.
Additionally, a few character motivations could have been presented with greater clarity. Nonetheless, the worldbuilding and emotional depth were commendable.
Overall, I truly enjoyed the read and would be eager to continue exploring the series.
Grateful to have received an ARC. It’s clear a lot of work went into creating this story, and the premise is very intriguing. The final 10% in particular was full of tension and suspense and really pulled me in. I especially loved Nerian and the comedic relief he brought to the story. His character was a highlight for me, and I’m very intrigued by his storyline, I’m hoping we learn more about him in the next book.
At times in the first 60–80%, some phrases and prose felt a little repetitive, and the relationship between the main characters came across somewhat like insta-love.
Overall, I had a great time reading this and will definitely be continuing with the series.
Vera is such a refreshingly honest and relatable FMC. She's strong and resilient, has to work towards her survival skills, and she's confident in what she wants and what she deserves. She calls Aedric (our MMC) out on his self-imposed suffering. Every time he gets all broody and self-sacrificing she tells him not to decide what she wants, that she's a grown woman and can make her own choices. I LOVE that she stands up for herself!!
This is kind of an instant attraction followed by a slower burn resolution, with some found family and gods vs mortals. It's a really interesting premise and ends in a cliffhanger, but I'm curious as to where it's going to go!
Thank you to the publisher @starlighpress.publishing for the opportunity to read this story early !
I’m not far off the end and my gosh this book has me, I felt like I was in a bit of a reading funk for a bit there but this book hooked me in pretty quickly tbh if you love all things supernatural ( the tv series ) than you’d like the gist of this book - I think that’s what drew me in at first from the back stories of Vera, Nerian and Aedric to the slow burn between Vera and Aedric made my heart swell 💕 she was so patient with him through all of it
I can’t wait to finish this 🙊 personally I enjoyed it
If you’re a lover of Romantasy where the romance actually begins to blossom (not full pedal to the metal) then this book is for you! Bonus for all the Aussie gals - this is your chance to support an independent author and independent publisher!
The writing style is engaging and reflective, with a mix between lyrical and descriptive styles that keep you well engaged.
That said, there are moments where the pacing slows, particularly in the middle sections, and a few plot developments could have been explored with more depth.
Thank you to the author and publisher for providing me with an ARC!
Unwritten is a dark fantasy that blends mystery, mythology, and romance in a way that keeps the plot constantly moving. Vera’s journey from an ordinary life into a dangerous world of gods and secrets makes you hang onto every word and the slow-burn romance adds emotional depth without consuming the story. I felt the pacing was a bit uneven at times and there were a few times things contradicted themselves, but with a little editing polish, the intriguing premise and character dynamics make it a compelling read. ⭐️ 3/5
Thank you Starlight Press Publishing for sending me an eArc 🫶🏻✨
Firstly, thank you for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
I thoroughly enjoyed this booked. It was slow in the beginning, but aided in the character development through the story.
At times it did feel slightly repetitive where perhaps the writer might in future look to explore using different phrases or replace repetitious wording.
This story came together at the end and I am interested to see where it goes from here in the next book.
